The snowball narrowly misses and the Peryton erupts into action, swooping down on Gnasher but taking a couple of nasty shots on the way in, his magic weapon bypassing all of its fancy magical defenses. Unfortunately for it, Gnasher is only mildly injured thanks to his rage (6 temp HP, right?) while the Peryton takes a beating.

Tarak downs the Peryton and it slumps to the ground, unconscious. It seems like your group has outgrown what was once an intimidating opponent! As it lies there, drool forming a puddle by its mouth, its eyes seem to track you like in one of those paintings in a murder mystery play. Only red and angry looking.

Gnasher:
You are the only one to locate a ring buried in the mud beneath the nest. Could be magical but it's hard for a meat head like Gnasher to tell.

Releasing his rage, Gnasher attempts to smile a human smile. It ends up looking more like a growl than anything else. Moving down the steps, he lifts the Fauchard and chops at the things neck until the head separates from the body. Nodding. "wolfbird not look so angry at Gnasher now."

Then proceeding to the steps he heads towards the nest. Intent on ridding the town of all the perytons, Gnasher takes the large egg out of the nest. Standing lifting it in both hands he throws it to the ground beside the beast. Watching it shatter, he turns back to the nest digging around in it. First lifting up the sword, then lifting a ring he found buried within. Holding them out, he asks, "Can anyone tell if magical?"

"Yes, the harpy -- she must still be hanging around here somewhere close, eager to repay us for our strategic sequestering of the serpent's venom for our own use."

He grimaces when offered the daggers, clearly hoping that someone else would take the initiative and leave him out of the way of potential harm,

Shrugging, Gnasher assumed the knives would be the perfect delivery system for poison. He just wasn't as good at throwing things as he was at bashing and chopping them. Holding out the longsword he asks. "Casper want longsword?" He then points towards the door, "Or maybe give to Fillepe?"

As for hunting the Harpy, Gnasher looks from Casper to Lupe, "What think chief? Chief said 'Kill Peryton go to camp' Chief think go to camp best still? Or maybe kill harpy before tribe leave town? Or go kill gnolls coming to kill tribe?"

Edit: Casper are you only carrying the punching daggers? I checked your sheet and didn't see any gear. You did a good job describing facial features, body type and cloths but what gear can we see?

Nodding to Filliped, Gnasher extends the sword to Casper again. "Casper, sword seem like good weapon, you use?"

As Lupe addresses the sword, Gnasher turns to him. listening and thinking. "It would be good to surprise her in lair. may not get another chance. But don't know if gnolls come with her." He looks at Urah and Tarak, not entirely understanding how their powers work. "You have power for bigger fight?"

if were going after the harpy, I would put Lupe and Tarak at one second floor window and Gnasher and Urah at the other. Filliped on the walkway on the second floor between them so his spells can support either way and Casper on the ground peaking out the door to make sure no one is coming by foot. Once she enters through a second story window the two near that window engage her, the others rush to help. It's a gamble but probably the only way we will surprise her. The other options is to come back to her building and try to bum rush her using ranged weapons, or just wait for her to attack us. I'm good going back to camp. Once we get there we need to ask Almah if she has a key for the packmasters palace

ok, Thursday, I asked about hitting the harpy, we talked a little about it Friday, but no real decision. Gnasher see's Lupe as the leader, but Lupe didn't say no. Not sure it's the right call, but no one has posted for two days, and inertia is a game killer. So here we go.

Hearing Lupe say "If we can get the harpy alone we should kill her today" Gnasher gives a toothy smile, nodding. "Let tribe go and try." Nodding when Tarak tells him the sword is magical, having been refused by the two humans, Gnasher tucks it in his belt alongside his knives. On his way towards the steps, Gnasher quickly checks the shelves in the building looking for anything of value.

Once back on the main floor, Gnasher points to the door. "Tribe hustle back to Harpy's building. If gnolls coming we flee to camp. If way clear we go into building upstairs." He looks at Casper. "Casper you watch door." Then looking at Filleped, "Bard you stay middle of upstairs shoot either way." He gestures towards Urah, "Gnasher and Fire-starter to right window and wait." Gesturing towards Lupe and Tarak, "Chief and Storm-watcher take left window." Not waiting for anyone to answer, he rests his fauchard on his shoulder and trots out the door moving towards the harpy's lair, keeping a keen eye out.

The gnolls look at each other in confusion. What was supposed to motivate them seems to have had the opposite effect. Go figure?

Casper moves to flank one of the hyenas with Urah Pyr. He draws his cruel punching daggers and prepares to savage his opponents.

Just checking before I roll that I'm not getting any rules stuff wrong -- I did a move action (moved 5 squares = 25 ft., move action can move your move speed), and now I'm doing a sneak attack since I'm flaking the hyena.

That is correct, Casper. The trick to getting a flank, though, is to move to the opposite side of the enemy from a player that is engaged with it, preferably without drawing an attack of opportunity. I've marked the locations with a box that will allow you a flank at the moment.

Casper slips around to the other side of the gnoll to get into a flank and takes a shot, but not until after the hyenna gets a painful nip in.

Blue cloaked gnoll manages to break free and runs toward the action. Presumably he likes being a target. The rest continue their 'together time'.

hmmm, I may not have understood what happened. Did the Harpy drop far enough for Casper to get an AOO or is that from her getting close enough to attack? Either way, Gnasher is near Casper, did he get an AOO as well with his reach weapon?

[ooc]She dove in and did a fly-by on Casper. Since she moved through Casper's reach he got an AoO. She did not get close enough to anyone else that they could get an AoO. At that time (at least according to the map) Gnasher was more than 10' from the harpies flight path.

Got it, Thanks for the explanation. I was just excited about the chance to hit her without reverting to the sling. If I had gone back and looked at the posts I'd have noticed I said I wasn't close enough in my last post :)

Harpy is also bleeding from both my sneak attacks

Quote:

Bleeding Attack (Ex)
Benefit: A rogue with this ability can cause living opponents to bleed by hitting them with a sneak attack. This attack causes the target to take 1 additional point of damage each round for each die of the rogue’s sneak attack (e.g., 4d6 equals 4 points of bleed). Bleeding creatures take that amount of damage every round at the start of each of their turns. The bleeding can be stopped by a DC 15 Heal check or the application of any effect that heals hit point damage.
