Ok, here's the character sheet.. Here's a bit of background:

background:
Yraelzin was born and bred in Razmiran, the country ruled by Razmir, the Living God. The youngest son of a content farming family, Yraelzin's penchant for reading and devotion to the faith caught the eyes of the local clergy. By 16, the young man was being indoctrinated in the tenets of the church, by 19 he was ordained to preach, and now, at 21, his request to take part in the Bountiful Venture Company's colony ship was only recently approved by his superiors. Promising to proselytize and convert the colonists and any natives to the Living God, Yraelzin is full of missionary zeal. Three secrets, however, have shaped his fate.

First, his superiors in the church gave him permission to go because his natural intelligence and curiosity were becoming increasingly problematic--better, they thought, to have the shepherd actively trying to gather more sheep than sitting on his hands and thinking about whether being a shepherd was a good idea to begin with!

Second, the Bountiful Venture Company agent who interviewed Yraelzin for a spot on the expedition didn't particularly like the young priest and didn't think he'd be all that useful--but attempts to open Razmiran up to trade made a "diplomatic overture" to the country a wide decision.

Third, and finally, Yraelzin himself has a secret: one day, while plowing the family's farm as a young boy, he found a strange ring buried in the earth. It took him months of digging through rotting old tomes in an abandoned bookseller's shop before he discovered the origins of the strange markings--ancient Azlant! The ring almost called to him, and he considers it his most valuable possession.

Personality:
Yraelzin is young, sheltered, and full of confidence, self-righteousness, and absolute certitude in Razmir. He can easily come across as unlikable and even obnoxious. But he has a good heart deep down.

If this sounds okay, please let me know and I'll do an introductory posting in the Gameplay thread and start building a profile for the character on this website.

It looks like things are getting started already I could use one more day to get everything together (had a busy day). Is that okay or am I slowing down the start?

You're fine. This is just the prelude of my own making, not part of the AP. It serves two purposes. First, it allows characters to be introduced slowly so I can attempt to form a cohesive team. Second, It is psychological incentive to get a character ready and join the game.

I would like to start by Monday, 2/3, so you have time.

Quick lunch break so only have a few minutes. Will post in the ‘Game’ in a few hours.

Forgot to mention that all characters can start with 1 Hero Point. I’ll assume you know how they work. If you don’t, let me know. You can also gain additional Hero Points by acting heroic, posting regularly, and showing other good role-playing type habits.

Also, I like to get to know my players. Please share if you like. No worries if you would rather stay private.

I live on the east coast United States. Pennsylvania to be exact, about 50 miles (or 80 kilometers) north of Philadelphia. Other than TT gaming, and this cool PBP format, I enjoy hiking, backpacking, kayaking, and mountain biking. Nature, in general, is my sanctuary where I go to wind down.

I start work early (5:30) am, therefore; I am up early, and will try to post between 3:30-4:30 am, then again at night between 7-9 pm est. Of course life as an adult can get in the way, and a day here and there might get skipped.

I also serve on the Board of a local non-profit. The first Wednesday of every month I attend a board meeting. That particular day, I may not get around to an evening post.

Glad to have you all on board and I hope to offer up a fun, exciting and interesting game.

Cheers for now!

So Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. I am still interested but it looks like a big party so I can bow out if it will make things easier on you. I sent you a pm with a build question before I cement my character in stone if you still want me in the game.

You're an original and would love to have you stay in the game. The party did get a bit bigger than expected, but the more the merrier. I'll go check my messages.

About me: I have been gaming since the early 80’s but I’m relatively new to pbp. When I have time I enjoy reading or hanging out with the family. I currently reside in Indiana near Indianapolis. If anyone plans on going to GenCon PM me and we can do lunch/dinner.

I've been gaming since the early 80's (Red Box set) and am in the Boston area. I used to play more tabletop but now with kids it is mostly PbP.
When I have time, I can write elaborate posts, but if I am posting on my phone I will at least do a shorter post to check in and keep things moving. I won't hold up things in hopes of finding the time for the perfect post.

I am in a number of PbP campaigns and am running one. If I think I will need to be absent for more than a day or two, I will give notice (along with botting directions).

Thanks for checking in. Nice to get to know you all. And Sho, your English is excellent. Much better than my French. Je parle Francais en pue. I probably even botched that up.

Male Human(Unfortunately)

Just dropped my intro post in the gameplay thread.

For any of you not from the other game I am Nic. I have been tabletop gaming since 2000 with 3.0 being my first edition but being a youngin of only 12 at the time and no other gamers to hear of I was the one who put my adhd brain to work crafting adventures for me and my nerdy MTG playing friends. Once pathfinder came out it was clear that it was my system of choice as it fixed lots of the stupid stuff of 3.5 but left the crunch and didn't over correct like 4.0. Since than I have been addicted to the genera inhaling the Dragonlance novels and playing CRPG's like NWN, Icewind Dale and Baulder's gate.

Outside of tabletop my three passions are video games(PC Master race[long hair blowing in the wind]), animals(I currently have 5 pets in a one bedroom apartment) and Sleep I will sleep until I ache from sleeping than get up stretch eat something play a game for an hour and hop back to bed happy. Unfortunately work and life means I can only do this but once a week or so.

@GM I am working on my statblock however I used an android app to make a quick sheet and linked it in my profile to be viewed in the meantime. I should have the proper statblock and a backstory on the profile sometime tonight after I get off work at 6pm US Eastern time.

Nice to meet you all, and thanks for running a game Mioki!

I'm in Portland Oregon so I'm on PST. I started out playing around 2014 or so, starting with PFS games at a nearby game store. I switched over to PbP around 2016 because my work schedule, etc. was making it too difficult to get to live games.

I work for the state as an analyst and before that taught college for a while. I'm a reader and bicycler for fun and relaxation. I have a son but he's 13 now so fairly low maintenance now. We did however get a puppy recently. She's 5 months old and already 45 lbs. along with being clever and quite wicked. So I'm now constantly running around distracted again.

I do have some occasional work peaks that limit my ability to post now and then, but I let it be known than they're not lengthy.

Here is Mr. Hebeme’s PC: Nymbleth, tiefling, alchemist (grenadier). I still need to sort out equipment but everything else should be good to go. If everything is okay I’ll post in the gameplay thread.

Background:

Nymbleth lays in his hammock aboard the Peregrine relaxing, as he gently swings side to side, the tiefling can’t help but think about a time when he had it all a time before the fire that changed everything. He reflects, Was it only a few short years ago? At times like today, when he is content, it feels like it was just yesterday.

Nymbleth’s earlies memories are of his parents, Xan and Belkia, and the Alchemy shop they ran in Almas. They were a hard working family, his father was the inventor, always trying a new concoction or recipe. While his mother ran the business and ordered the supplies. They made a good team and their hard work made the shop into a success.

The shop was a sturdily constructed two-story wooden building, with their living quarters taking on the upper floor. A workshop took up the back half of the ground floor, while the front half was the store front. The shelves were always cluttered with beakers, jars, and test tubes containing exotic spices, caustic chemicals, and mysterious substances. There was always a pungent smell in the air that you never got used to. Nymbleth knew every inch of the place, but his favorite thing to do was to spend time in the workshop with his father, lost in his own thoughts of his next experiment. It is hear, at his parents shop, that he learned the art of alchemy and to love the magic that occurs as you mix elixirs.

Nymbleth took like a fish to water with the alchemist’s art. He taught himself to read at the age of three and was performing his own experiments by age five. His parents, attributed his keen intellect and success to his other worldly heritage. While his parents never knew when the fiendish taint entered their bloodline they viewed it as a blessing rather than a curse. Unfortunately, others in Almas weren’t so tolerant of Nymbleths obvious infernal bloodline. As a result Nymbleth spent his days hiding in the workshop engrossed with the chemicals he loved and continued perfecting his craft under his father’s tutelage.

Some might find it lonely spending ones days sequestered in the workshop but with his father, mother, and his work he was content. The shop continued be successful and his family’s future was filled with prospects as they talked about Nymbleth opening his own shop. Thus, his mother began showing him the other side of the business and Nymbleth got accustomed to people.

Nymbleth had accomplished all of this by the age of twenty-five so it is understandable that he was hopeful for what the future would hold. However, the seeds of his destruction were planted on an otherwise forgetful afternoon. It began when Nymbleth caught a half-orc with a strange laugh inside his family’s shop trying to peddle a new drug to their customers. He still recalls his pride as threw out the half-orc out and his arrogant dismissal of the creature’s threats. Little did Nymbleth know what the repercussions for throwing the chortling half-orc out would be and the price he would be asked to pay.

Two days later Nymbleth awoke well before dawn and headed for the markets, as he had heard a rumor that a shipment of gun powder had come in from Nex. He was hopeful that this reagent would improve the quality of the bombs he was experimenting with. Unfortunately, luck was against him that morning and no gun powder could be had.

Nymbleth was returning home empty handed and was several blocks away when he could smell the smoke. Smoke like this meant trouble and could only be caused by a building catching fire. As he drew closer to his home the air became thicker with the pungent smoke and he instinctively picked up his pace. The sickening feeling in his stomach continued to grow as he drew closer to his home. Words cannot describe the horror and despair he felt as he realized all that was left of his family, their shop, his life and his dreams were ashes.

Nymbleth still cannot remember most of what transpired over the first week after the fire. What he does remember is at some point he came to the conclusion that he must leave Almas and start over.

With steadfast determination the tiefling put all his efforts and life savings into joining the Bountiful Venture Company and being a part of the new colony. He was crushed when he wasn’t chosen for the first wave of colonists and blamed the denial on his infernal heritage.

However, he was invited to join the second wave because of his skill in alchemy which was much needed in the new colony.

Appearance:

Nymbleth is tall and lanky, standing well over six feet tall, with a lithe but well-muscled build. He has long and ropey limbs of corded muscle that appear to long for his body. The willowy tiefling has a sinister and menacing face that always looks like he’s about to laugh or scowl. His features are disproportionate and off putting, he possesses a straight nose and a crooked mouth with tow horns jutting from his fore head. While his large eyes framed by long, full lashes set off a gaze that is both knowing and penetrating. Nymbleth’s dark eyes marks his tiefling heritage and are as black as the pits of hell. His salmon colored skin is covered in small rough scales and stands in stark contrast to the dark locks of hair that appear to absorb the light around it. While His barbed tail seems to have a mind of its own.

The slender long-limbed tiefling is most often dressed in black with bandoliers crossing his chest and various pouches, containers, an paraphernalia hanging from his belt and pack.

For my Animal Companion how should his hp be calculated. At first he has 2 HD is the first maxed and is it average or rolled going forward and does the average round up or down. as of now I have it 1st maxed 2nd average rounded up plus con on each so 8(1st)+4.5(2nd average)+4(+2 con to each)=16.5 rounded up to 17.

Hi, I'm still working on my character, but...

I'm in Seattle (PST, same as Portland). I most often post in the evening, at least once a day. When I'm on the ball I can get in one in the morning, but that's not reliable :) There's no good pattern to how adult life flares up for me to reduce my posting, BUT I usually have a pretty early heads-up and give notice at least days in advance (usually 1+ weeks).

I got into TTRPGs with AD&D2e, played for the duration of that edition and then my life took me away from it just before 3rd ed was a thing. I was particularly into Dark Sun in those days. Roughly 5 years ago I jumped back on the bandwagon very randomly catching some Paizo humble bundle. Trying out the beginners box adventure I got most of my family hooked on it and we haven't looked back since. We jumped fairly quickly into PbP.

It looked like you particularly liked the archaeologist bard idea, but seeing as how the party already has a bard I'm likely going to lean towards a rogue (for the same character idea) or the wizard.

Half-Elf Bard 6 | HP: 59/59 | AC: 20 (T: 13, F: 18) | CMB: +6, CMD: 18 | F: +5, R: +8, W: +8 (+10 vs Enchantments) | Init: +6 | Perc: +9, SM: +9 | Speed 30' | Performance:15/18 | Hero Points 3

Hi PaleDim, You're the possible bard? Sorry!

I don't want to overstep here, but if you were going to go with Archaeologist, there's a whole lot of space between a standard performance based buffer bard like Fenna and an Archaeologist. I'm in another campaign in which I have an archaeologist bard in the rogue role and there's a second, buffer bard. They fit very comfortably together in the party. Except for sharing a spell list there's almost no overlap. With coordination of spell choices the bard spell list is big enough that it doesn't even matter. It's a huge spell list.

Archaeologist doesn't have sneak attack but with the luck mechanic and arcane strike it can do decent damage without it and hit more consistently because no special set up is required.

I'm not trying to talk you out of a rogue if you want to go that route, but you can rogue really well with an archaeologist (you'll be better than a rogue at disable device after the low levels, and not significantly behind a rogue as a skill monkey). If you had your heart set on archaeologist go for it. It's absolutely one of my favorites to play!

If you choose wizard though, well that's entirely different...

No need to apologize, I had at least three different ideas and wasn't set on that :) I'm pretty sure you existed before those ideas; I'm asking because GM Mioki responded particularly to that idea and so I was curious if two bards (of different styles) is what he wanted.

RP-wise, the con-man *probably* works best as the bard, who would have the academic chops to pass off as an expert and/or "wizard;" but honestly I kind of like the completely untrained rogue who gets by on the smile and handshake. "Did I say I was trained at the Arcanimirium? I meant that I applied there, but I'm an Azlant enthusiast!"

But, if we're talking party pillars, it really seems like the biggest gap is wizard right now. I liked the idea I had there too (decisions, decisions :) )

Since early level characters can be so fragile, I like to give them a fighting chance. As a 'House Rule' I usually allow max HP for levels 1-4. You can bump Sharky up to max if you want.

@PaleDim:

Honestly play what you want not what the GM finds interesting. It's not like I give you Hero & Experience Points, treasure, and cool magic items and such ...

I kid, of course. We have a bunch of pc's and we're here to have a good time not totally destroy the AP. I really like a good story and playing what you want will help develop a fun character that drives the story. I just think it is awesome that I get to play a little each day with you fine folks that are scattered throughout our little blue planet.

Have to do some adulting this afternoon/evening and take the wifey car shopping. Not sure how long this will take. Will try to check in at lunch time and this evening.

Feel free to have certain PC's meetup and interact and take minor liberties with NPC's in my absence.

So, Brannart is trying to be patient, but Yraelzin really rubs him the wrong way.
Brannart is a CG follower of a CG god in a NG freedom-loving nation that features tolerance of benevolent faiths and is very leery of foreign influence. Yraelzin is a foreigner coming in and trying to tell Andorans what to do.

And that's presuming Brannart doesn't even know the specifics of the Razmiran faith.

So... his attitude towards Yraelzin will at best be a patronizing "Look kid, I'm telling you this for your own good." Maybe in time as he learns or remembers more about Razmir he would try to show Yraelzin a better path.

Also over time, Brannart is going to ask some hard questions about who in the Company put the Razmiran cultist on the boat, and he'll probably conclude that there was bribery involved. Not much else makes sense.

I don't have a problem with the player, but I am assuming he did choose to play the cultist of a LE religion in NG Andoran wanting to have these sorts of interactions - and not just everyone shrugging and saying "Okay."

If you would like me to shrug it off, do let me know. It's my sense that the player expects at least some pushback but I don't want to overdo it.

Please don’t worry about me! It’s all part of the rping fun. As long as we make for a viable group when it counts, all the inter-character dynamics are what makes gaming great.

Brannart and Yraelzin you are both spot on.

With Brannart’s older age and experience, he could look at Yraelzin as a brainwashed young kid who just needs to be set straight. And Brannart is right to think how did this ‘priest’ get accepted as a colonist. Brannart is not wrong at all. There might be more to the story.

Now Yraelzin is a true devotee. I absolutely love the internalizing, by the way. The difference in beliefs really brings to life some Role-playing opportunities this pbp medium allows. So please do some back-and-forth, it really makes the story and characters comes alive. And it shows me, the GM, that you are getting vested in the characters and the story. Which is very rewarding on my end.

Metagaming this I can see where Yraelzin does not fit with a heroic party, but the player surely wants to be part of the group. My job is to have you all come together for a common purpose and for it to make sense to the best of my ability. With a common purpose you will all become allies. This is why I came up with the Prelude adventure idea. Many of you had non-core pc race ideas, and I had to think, ‘How the heck am I going to get so many players from so many different backgrounds together?’ I had to come up with a way to overcome that challenge and still make the story feel real.
In ending, role-play it out. Most of you have found that common purpose, and if I am doing my job, all of you will be a team within the next few days.

I hope you are all having fun. I sure am. The posts are great and coming in at a good pace. I had a long day yesterday, so I apologize for not keeping up with the game. I am out to do some banking and grab a diner breakfast. Love me some banana/walnut pancakes! Then I’ll get the game caught up.

Cheers!

just a note, Brannart, even if we don't know it (yet) : Yraelzin (I like the sound of the name!) might worship a LE god, but he's LN himself, so not evil.

Oh yes, I can see that. And one can hope it will lead to him questioning the more malicious tenets of his faith. Or he won't. But the GM did ask for goodly-aligned PCs so I imagine the player has an arc in mind. Should be interesting.

For the moment, he does not merely worship a LE faith, he actively promotes it. A LN cleric could promote Asmodeus or Zon-Kuthon. That would be harder to trust as an ally than a LN cleric of Iomedae or Erastil.
