Rommin 21
Hill giant teens 18
Fenla 12
Brother Hawthorne 7
Wilrin 3
OK, a little confusion, and it was my fault. Sorry about that. The first round is a surprise round, with everyone acting, except the hill giants. Vakmu, Ungor and Rommin act a second time before the hill giants can act. For the sack of brevity and sanity, we will move on.

chillblame |

Surprise round summation
Vakmu casts a slumber hex
blue will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
The giant (blue) resists the slumber hex
Ungor squeezes into the room. At last, he has room to move
Rommin hits giant blue with an arrow (12 points)
Fenla tells wilrin to cover the other exit and redirects twilight
Brother Hawthorne waits for developments You can act in the surprise round if you wish, a move or standard action only
Wilrin races away to the other exit, vanishing from view.

chillblame |

Round one thus far
Vakmu awaits developments You can act if you wish[ooc]
Ungor attacks blue, hurting him (42 damage) with a claw and bite. But he fails to grab him.
Rommin shoots at Orange, but misses due to Ungors bulk (he gets cover. You don't seem to have improved precise shot
I will wait till tomorrow for Vakmu's and Hawthorne's possible actions (see above)

Brother Hawthorne |

Ok, so in the surprise round, I could have charged in and attacked a young giant close to the door, I've moved myself in, and here is my attack on the young giant near the door...
MW Sap Sneak Hit vs FF: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 14 + 2 = 26
MW Sap Sneak Damage: 1d4 + 6 + 4 + 4d6 + 4d6 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 4 + (1, 4, 4, 6) + (1, 6, 4, 6) = 43 Nonlethal

Ungor the Dire |

@gm Attack of opportunity for orange stepping through Ungor's reach?
bite damage + BS + SJ: 4d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 6, 6, 1) + 7 = 25
nevermind apparently :)

chillblame |

Green giant attacks Ungor
greatclub: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29 hit
damage: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (1, 6) + 8 = 15
greatclub: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
damage: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (6, 5) + 8 = 19
Orange giant charges Ungor
greatclub: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22 charge
damage: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (7, 8) + 8 = 23
The other giants move up
Ungor has taken 15 damage
Everyone else can act

Ungor the Dire |

Ok, Ungor drops the blue giant
ok. so then I would have shifted into the Blue dropped space to make the boundaries clean with the ogres

Vakmu Blackhorse |

I did ACT in the surprise round... And Ungor should get a 50% miss chance on that 15 damage.
I don't think I owe you an action now - Fenla, Hawthorne and Wilrin are up next, then me.

Brother Hawthorne |

So Ungor handled blue? I figured that was the one I attacked in the surprise round? It was alive anyways when I checked earlier. I guess now I'd charge down against, umm, pink? Giant 5? That may provoke from Orange or Pink. AC 26 against those AOOs.
MW Sap Sneak Hit vs FF: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 14 + 2 = 33
MW Sap Sneak Damage: 1d4 + 6 + 4 + 4d6 + 4d6 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 4 + (4, 4, 5, 3) + (6, 5, 2, 1) = 41 Nonlethal

chillblame |

Sorry I did miss Vakmu's action, uncovering a symbol of mirroring. Symbol of mirroring affects everyone within its area of effect, including the giants.I did ACT in the surprise round... And Ungor should get a 50% miss chance on that 15 damage.
I don't think I owe you an action now - Fenla, Hawthorne and Wilrin are up next, then me.
This spell functions as a symbol of death, except it instead creates one illusory duplicate of each creature within 60 feet of the symbol. These duplicates function as a mirror image, moving with the original creatures and mimicking their movements, sounds, and actions exactly. If an illusory double is destroyed, a new one appears on the creature’s turn. The images last for as long as a creature remains within 60 feet of the symbol, and for 1 round/level thereafter. Once triggered, the symbol remains active for 10 minutes per caster level.
. that means the miss chance applies to the party as well. I will roll the miss chances thus far

chillblame |

OK, giant blue is still standing as Ungors claw struck an image, and Ungor takes no damage as his image is hit. Hawthorne and Rommin still hit.
Blue now gets an attack on 1d6 ⇒ 4 result Ungor
As Ungor's image has been popped, and it doesn't reform until his next action, no miss roll is needed
greatclub: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
damage: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (6, 8) + 8 = 22
greatclub: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
damage: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (8, 2) + 8 = 18
both attacks missing
Also Pink gets an attack on Hawthorne
greatclub: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
damage: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (8, 7) + 8 = 23
Which also misses

Vakmu Blackhorse |

Sorry Chill, I should have been more specific and reminded you about the tricks I play with symbol spells. Do you remember our previous discussions about control of symbol type spells (and Woodland rune?) (I guess it's been 4 or 5 months now... sorry). On how to use the 'programmable' effects of the symbol spells to a casters advantage...
You can also set special triggering limitations of your own. These can be as simple or elaborate as you desire. Special conditions for triggering a symbol of death can be based on a creature's name, identity, or alignment, but otherwise must be based on observable actions or qualities.
As per Vakmu's character sheet, "5 planchettes with pre-cast symbols of mirroring on them, programmed to only affect those displaying the same 3 symbol combination....A set of 12 necklaces (fits up to large creatures, can be multiply looped to fit smaller creatures), that display the aforementioned 3 symbol combination (Arcane Mark, symbol of Boccob, symbol of Celestian)"
I passed the necklaces out before we entered the fort. The mirroring effect is only triggering on party members.

Ungor the Dire |

ok... to recap...blue is dead still and Ungor's "hit" popped an image that will come back on his turn...win-win for the party. :)
3 cheers for Vakmu! Is the party up now?

Fenla Welci |

I had actually moved twilight on the map around the corner looking out for any danger.
Fenla's next action (if I didn't miss a chance already)
Seeing the room full of young giants surrounding Ungor Fenla casts a spell to hinder their movement.
Casts slow on all 6 targets (Using Arcane Point to up DC by 2, +1 DC from school focus & +1 DC from Gnome Ability). Will DC 21

Therbin Warrack |

Therbin shakes his head in despair. "How could I have been so careless to let myself get captured. I let my guard down for a moment and BAM! That spell certainly caught me by surprise," he thinks to himself as he surveys his situation.
"What a way to go. As a meal to your most hated enemy. Well, I'm not going down without a fight. I just need to bide my time. Not much I can do here in this cage," his thoughts interrupted by some commotion down the hall. He waits to see what the giants do in response.

Vakmu Blackhorse |

...
Sorted order
Vakmu 26
Ungor 22
Rommin 21
Hill giant teens 18
Fenla 12
Brother Hawthorne 7
Wilrin 3...
Ok, I think that Giants (attacked Ungor, popped his image; it will reform on Ungor's initiative), Fenla (cast slow), Hawthorne (attacked Pink, Giant 5), and Wilrin (went off to block the back exit) finishes up Rd 1. We are now on round 2, with Vakmu, Ungor and Rommin acting before the giants.
Vakmu moves foward to the edge of the threshold (5' step) and focuses his will again, on another giant... Slumber Hex, DC 19, targeting Giant Green

Vakmu Blackhorse |

That's 6 saves rolled. Blue is already down, so I assume you didn't roll for it. So all of them are slowed (5 saves), and Green is asleep (Slumber hex). Ok

Ungor the Dire |

"Ungor smash!"
Ungor begins mauling the awake one (orange).
with Power Attack now that I'm not squeezing
bite + BS + PA + SJ: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
bite damage + BS + PA + SJ: 4d6 + 11 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 6) + 11 = 26
claw1 + BS + PA + SJ: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
claw1 damage + BS + PA + SJ: 3d6 + 11 ⇒ (2, 1, 2) + 11 = 16
claw2 + BS + PA + SJ: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
claw2 damage + BS + PA + SJ: 3d6 + 11 ⇒ (1, 4, 4) + 11 = 20
Wow! that was anti-climactic I guess someone else needs to do something that works

Ungor the Dire |

Chill, shouldn't it be the giants attacks sequence now? Vakmu, Ungor and Rommin have gone.
and my image comes back..right?

Vakmu Blackhorse |

Vakmu Blackhorse wrote:Chill, shouldn't it be the giants attacks sequence now? Vakmu, Ungor and Rommin have gone.and my image comes back..right?
Your mirror image reappeared on your turn

I begin to dance with my image while waiting for the giants to attack

chillblame |

Apoligies. I haven't been well the last week
The giants' attack
One giant runs to the back door to warn the others. He doesn't quite get there.
club: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15 at Ungor
damage: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (2, 1) + 8 = 11
club: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15 at Hawthorne
damage: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (3, 2) + 8 = 13
well that was bad. No hits. The party can act

Ungor the Dire |

Let's see if we can make a few adjustments to my dice rolls given last round's abysmal failure!
Maul the awake one which I think is orange!
bite + PA + BS + SJ: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
bite damage: 4d6 + 11 ⇒ (5, 3, 5, 3) + 11 = 27
claw1 + PA + BS + SJ: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
claw1 damage: 3d6 + 11 ⇒ (4, 2, 3) + 11 = 20
claw2 + PA + BS + SJ: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
claw2 damage: 3d6 + 11 ⇒ (4, 4, 5) + 11 = 24
claw2 crit check + PA + BS + SJ: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
claw2 crit damage: 3d6 + 11 ⇒ (6, 2, 3) + 11 = 22
(if orange is still alive)
grapple check: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (3) + 17 = 20
if orange goes down during the attack, I will 5' adjust towards pink and use my reach to continue the full attack on my new awake target :)

Ungor the Dire |

based upon at least 2 more hits and 44 more damage, the main question is whether orange goes down after the first hit or after the second. so I 5' stepped forward to show Bother H where I want to end up.

Rommin Hawkridge |
Rommin sees the one trying to flee, and considers. Maybe the crazy little gnome could stop him, maybe not. Rommin tries to help stop it.
Prescience 1d20 ⇒ 14
Rapid shot, deadly aim.
To hit 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 7 - 2 = 19, damage 1d8 + 3 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 7 = 18
To hit 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 7 - 2 = 8, damage 1d8 + 3 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 7 = 17
Edit: let's sub that 14 prescience roll for the 3 on the second roll, giving it a 19 as well to hit result.

Vakmu Blackhorse |

I think we have skipped Fenla here. But, well, carry on...
Vakmu slips through the door and jumps across Rommin's line of fire to a safe spot, and then focuses his will again, attempting to render another giant senseless.
20' ft move action, and then use slumber hex as a standard action. Slumber on Giant 4, Purple, Will DC 19 or sleep

chillblame |

Suddenly the door to the north opens, and a hill giant woman, holding a greatclub, emerges.
In giantish
Hey Matron, there's little meats out here. Think they are here to join our dinner?
She moves forward finishes her turn. Another giant follows.
Meanwhile, orange drops, bleeding out.
Rommin tags the fleeing giant.

Therbin Warrack |

Seeing the giants leave to investigate, Therbin strains to hear what is going on. "I hope whatever is going on will keep them busy for a while," he thinks as he tries to break out of his restraints.
Strength (DC20): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
The dwarf struggles to free himself. "This may be my only chance to get out of here'" he thinks, frustrated that he can't get free.

Brother Hawthorne |

ok, so as I understand it, Ungor did clean up the entryway, but green is still up, so...
Brother Hawthorne charges across the room to attack the giant (green) next to Ungor.
MW Sap Sneak Hit vs FF: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 14 + 2 = 30
MW Sap Sneak Damage: 1d4 + 6 + 4 + 4d6 + 4d6 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 4 + (4, 4, 6, 5) + (5, 6, 4, 1) = 47 Nonlethal
My AC will be 26 vs any AOOs.

Vakmu Blackhorse |

ok, so as I understand it, Ungor did clean up the entryway, but green is still up, so...
Brother Hawthorne charges across the room to attack the giant (green) next to Ungor.

Green and purple are both asleep courtesy of slumber hex. A CDG is useful though. Pink is still up and fighting...

Vakmu Blackhorse |

Was 10’ away from either, so no coup possible.
Well, do what you need to do. Vakmu's ducking back out the door to deal with the cooks next round... I figure you and Ungor (and Wilrin) have this in hand.

Ungor the Dire |

so if I'm tracking init correctly, Fenla, and Wilrin have actions before we get back to the top of the order?

Vakmu Blackhorse |

so if I'm tracking init correctly, Fenla, and Wilrin have actions before we get back to the top of the order?
Yep. I figure Wilrin's either waiting for Yellow to come to him, or opening the door...Fenla??? Also young hill giants pink and yellow didn't act.

Fenla Welci |

Seeing the Giants come out of the door Fenla yelped. Seeing the Matron moving towards Rommin, Fenla casts a spell at the weapon the Matron is wielding.
Casts Grease on her greatclub - Reflex save to avoid spell DC 17 (+2 from Arcane pool)

Fenla Welci |

"Eek a little help Ungor!" Fenla whispered via Message to Ungor as she retreated down the hall after casting her spell.

Vakmu Blackhorse |

Ok, Fenla and Hawthorne have acted, and I am assuming that Chill has Wilrin in hand... Which puts us back at the top of the initiative order.
Hearing the commotion outside the room, Vakmu starts by delegating: "Ungor, Hawthorne, finish this lot. I'm taking a peek at whatever's going on in the corridor."
A 5' step backwards has him in position to peek out the door into the hallway. Giants! Right beside the archer and the wizard - time to improvise a frontline...
I'm not sure I need to cast defensively, I suspect that the doorframe gives me partial cover, to prevent any AoO, but just in case.
Careful not to expose himself, he grabs his lesser rod of extend and tries to drive the closest giant into a homicidal rage at her friend!
He casts Defensively,

+7 level +5 ability
using his lesser rod of extend,
