”Maxine Lark, ready for Adventure!”
My only options are 0 experience characters, so I will most likely be bringing this melee sorcerer. If this is likely to be a low-combat, skill heavy scenario I can whip something else up.

![]() |

Since Maxine is a level 1 character, I'll bring one of my L2 characters. Hmm... I'll bring Aurk here. Good melee combatant with healing.

GM Watery Soup |

Can someone verify that my "Maps and Handouts" link works?

GM Watery Soup |

Excellent!
Two more characters and we can get started.

You can, technically, go with a table of 4 (or 3 if you're being really technical.) But since there's usually more players than games, you might want to repost over at Flaxseed and let the public know you've still got 2 seats.

GM Watery Soup |

You and I'm Hiding In Your Closet were the two I was waiting for. IHIYC has posted potential characters so he/she just needs to choose. (I assume The Claw is a joke account.)

![]() |

Ah, oops, I appear to have posted my specs in Recruitment.
An additional NB: I possess the Soul Seer alternate racial feature, meaning I can invoke deathwatch at will; please consider it to always be active.

I'm not sure how to rule on this as applied to swarms. Can anyone provide guidance?

Maybe this is the cheap-o interpretation, but in the absence of extenuating information, the fact is that swarms are by default treated as a single monster.

![]() |

Since deathwatch is an area effect, rather than targeting a specific creature, I think it works on the swarm.
A swarm is immune to any spell or effect that targets a specific number of creatures (including single-target spells such as disintegrate), with the exception of mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, morale effects, patterns, and phantasms) if the swarm has an Intelligence score and a hive mind. A swarm takes half again as much damage (+50%) from spells or effects that affect an area, such as splash weapons and many evocation spells.

GM Watery Soup |

That's good enough for me. I mostly wanted to make sure there wasn't a specific rule against it.

![]() |

Can I use my wing to create a wind to disturb them, and shoo them away from the objects?

GM Watery Soup |

You can't prevent their movement (including into your square) but you can mitigate the damage they do.
A stronger wind, e.g., gust of wind is required to affect them directly.

GM Watery Soup |

I'm revising the results of Maxine's acid splash and future splashy attacks.
The touch AC of the swarms is listed as 20, which doesn't make sense to me. I'm ruling that anything that targets touch will go against an AC of 5, as if one were targeting a square. This seems to be RAI based on a few threads I've read.
Weirdly, this didn't come up in Round 1 for the acid vials (which both hit AC 20!) or the other time I GMed this live (everyone had AoE spells) or when I played this (my alchemist's splash damage included my Int modifier and I single handedly slaughtered the swarms).

@Vangral: Any connection to Vangal, the premier Chaotic Evil deity in the SCARRED LANDS campaign setting?

Not intentionally, but I do have a nasty habit of having names slip into my subconscious then percolate back up in the guise of ideas I came up with all by myself.
I once wrote a short story then a novel that included a character named "Mineesa" then realized she was the NIECE of the character that introduced her. It's possible, he actually said "this is my niece, Mineesa."

GM Watery Soup |

Do any of you listen to the Glass Cannon Podcast?
Joe's first character was a half-orc named L'orc. L'orc had a son named J'son.

GM Watery Soup |

Maxine seems to have gotten lost in the Jeggare Museum.

![]() |

In the interim, Ekanta has spent 20 gp on a hex nail - because for that price and with so many irate Fey running around, why the hell not?
*tries to avoid eye contact with Vangral*

![]() |

"I am a clothing designer when I'm not delving into the mysteries of life and death. Perhaps not as broad and philosophical an endeavor but one I enjoy," Vangral answers.
Shades of Garak from Star Trek: Deep Space 9? ^_-

I was actually thinking leather work made from special leather when I chose it. I'm trying to find the balance for this character between dark and amusing. My inspirations are "dandy" vampires.
But, yes Garak is not a bad analog. On the surface, he's a simple tailor. Dig a little deeper and there is something dangerous.

![]() |

So, GM Watery Soup...why "Watery Soup"?

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Absolutely no reason.
I scanned through avatars until I found one that few people had selected. Then I changed my name to match the avatar.
This may be the best way to determine a name that I've ever heard.

GM Watery Soup |

I figured most of my posts would be with my characters' names, so I wanted to save good or clever names for my characters. :)

![]() |

Sorry for the absence, I guess I've been even more depressed than Ekanta recently. :P

GM Watery Soup |

Take care of yourself and don't be shy about reaching out to people you trust or professionals you trust.
Games can wait.

![]() |

Oh, don't worry about that; shrinks have been a normal and regular part of my life since I was 6. I'm pretty well cared for, I've restarted an old medication now that I see I was probably better off with it, and as it happens, I am about to go on an unprecedented real-life adventure in less than a month!

GM Watery Soup |

Th-th-that's all folks!

Thanks for the game, GM! You did a great job. Vangral is a GM baby so this was the first time I actually played him and he was more effective and fun to play than I expected.

Thanks for running! I didn't expect Phytus to be all that, I was testing out how difficult it was to run a vanilla medium in PFS. Not very, as it turned out, just not so effective either. Still, I'll likely pick up an archetype so I can pick my spirits and have a specialty.

Chronicle Sheets for the 4 of you are posted HERE.
Please scrutinize these carefully. The GP on the Chronicle Sheet as printed was wrong, and was errataed in the GM forums, but no revised Chronicle Sheet was posted. In addition, the GP earned is individually level-dependent. So make sure I got your level correct, and the GP for your level correct (1 = 425, 2 = 700, 3 = 1200).

Looks like you got mine right. :]
WEAPON SPECIALIZATION TIME!
Too bad my final attack in that adventure wasn't with my staff; Id've held onto my chakram if I knew you were going to do that....

Chronicle looks good.

This game was double-reported, once through the OSP (2/18/20) and once through my personal event (late January 2020), when I didn't think OSP was going to do it. I've deleted my personal event so this should only show up once on your character, and you should all have been eligible for boon rolls. Let me know by PM if there has been any problem.
