Smiling as the first attacker drops, Tharivol holds the violet sparkly glow for a few second to bask. Then, he takes a bead on the next one and looses another arrow. The feathered shot buries into his leg.

Artur then moved back up beside Tharivol, drawing a grenade has he went. As Artur arrived, he armed the device, turned to Tharivol and said "See, wasn't this better than sitting in an inn playing music?" and threw the device at the leader and the two hunters flanking him.

The explosion loudly rang out into the night air, preventing Artur from hearing Tharivol's response.

OOC:

Kela is officially MIA.

It's been my experience that over four days without any sort of notice is not good for continuing to play in the game.

If in four days you don't have time to write a short message that literally takes less than one minute to write then you either: a) have personal issues that prohibit you from playing the game or b) are just not interested. In both cases the end result is not playing the game.

I'll deal with Kela in game as best fits the story.

FYI, I would like to have a 5th PC but I do NOT want to open up recruitment. Now that you have seen what this game is like, reach out to some of your playing 'buddies' who you think would enjoy this type of game and see if they would be interested in joining our game. Have them PM me about it.

About the slow: Hunter 5 was affected too (doesn't show on the stats in the recap). However, they get rerolls at the end of their round, so after they attacked, they could have rerolled already.

About Kela: I'm willing to wait until the weekend for them to return.

Veratash saw more enemies coming in and asked Artur: "So when do our reinforcements get in?". He didn't sound as amused as the warrior. He turned to Nyd and asked "Is this the part where you throw a fireball at them?", showing his lack of knowledge about wizards in general.

The kalashtar runned over to where Artur had been in order to avoid getting a volley of arrows towards him and concentrated hard on two nearby 1 and 7 hunters shooting green beams at them. He said "Tense up you maniacs"

Move to Artur's last position and cast twinned Ray of Sickness using a 2nd level slot.

Attack vs hunter 1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Dmg: 3d8 ⇒ (3, 2, 1) = 6
Attack vs hunter 7: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Dmg: 3d8 ⇒ (6, 8, 7) = 21

Both hunters tense up their muscles to the point of sickness.

Con save DC 15 or poisoned until the end of my next turn

Yes, Hunter 5 attacked affected by Slow and then made his save. Take a peek at the last rolls made.

Veratash wrote:

Like I said before, I don't have a problem waiting or having a player absent for a couple of weeks even but the fact that you don't have time for a 1-minute message in four days just doesn't bode well.

It takes time to incorporate a new PC anyway so we'll see what happens on the weekend.

Yeah..., no. That's not cool either. If you start playing a game that asks you to post once per day and you miss four days without notice then that's not being respectful of your fellow players.

Trust me; I get that this is a game but you are interacting with other people and thus it still requires minimum social skills.

"The leader has arrived." Tharivol announced to himself. Thanks for bunching up again, boys. Makes my Faerie Fire much more effective.

With a stern Elven command word, the dragonmarked elf sent a violet bead of violet that explodes into a 20-foot cube of sparkly violet near the leader affecting him and his two flanking hunters.

Each object in a 20-foot cube within range is outlined in a violet light. Any creature in the area when the spell is cast is also outlined in light if it fails a Dexterity saving throw DC 14. For the duration, objects and affected creatures shed dim light in a 10-foot radius. Any attack roll against an affected creature or object has advantage if the attacker can see it, and the affected creature or object can’t benefit from being invisible.

Seeing the enemies breach the walls, Artur shouted, "Be ready to evacuate if we need to!" He then called out the now-familiar command to his turret: "Defend" but then added "And move."

At the second command, the turret skittered up the wall, coming to rest in the area directly above Artur while clinging to the wall.

Artur then pulled, activated, and threw another grenade, this one identical to the one he had just thrown.

Dropping Shatter again, this time centered in the enemie's southeastern corner.

As the grenade exploded, it blasted most of the dirt that Artur had used to barricade the hole into a cloud of dust and debris dozens of feet high, which also managed to hit one of the hunters standing too close to the outside wall.

Shatter: Dc 15 Con save: 3d8 ⇒ (2, 5, 5) = 12 Thunder damage, or half on a save; the wall is unattended, so it takes full damage.

Your 40' cube leaves out Hunter 7 but you can only affect six creatures anyway so no loss.

The battle raged on for several minutes, yet each time Artur assumed they would break and run, the hunters continued to hold fast; when they were down to the last two, Artur used an acid grenade on them, their screams echoing shortly before they collapsed.

Artur then immediately turned his attention to the downed hunters in their "fort", insuring that they would never rise again.

Finally, Artur walked the perimeter and ended each of the hunters who still lived yet were mere unconscious. He stacked the bodies neatly outside the walls and asked "Nyd, do any of them carry anything magical?" while striping their bodies of equipment.

Once their gear was removed, Artur would unceremoniously dump them into the pit, then use his magic to return the dirt to where it had been earlier, effectively creating a mass grave.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

His work finished, he turned off his turret and then saw to the wounds of his allies, using his first aid spray to close their injuries as best he could. As he checked himself for injuries, Artur was shocked to find that he had not been harmed.

Nyd: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11/2, or 5 hp.

After seeing to both enemies and allies, Artur finally picked a wall to put his back to and slid down it into a seat, breathing out a sigh as he did. This was why I wanted the whole village here. Artur thought to himself, but there was no need for recriminations, so he didn't bother repeating his thoughts aloud.

Action 1:

Veratash kept on fighting, following Artur's lead. He fired some beams at the hunters, but did not otherwise strain himself too much. As the fight ended, he looked at the carnage with sad eyes, not believing what he had helped accomplish.

His stupor was interrupted by Artur's unceremonious killing of helpless hunters. He attempted to intervene. "Is this really necessary? They're not a threat anymore, we don't need to kill them. There are questions they can answer!", he said loudly, although he didn't actively try to stop Artur. Maybe he was scared of the soldier.

Action 2:

OOC: I would prefer that Veratash doesn't perform any killing shot.

"Yes, it is." said Artur. "Or did you have a plan for keeping them locked up for the rest of their lives? Were you planning on shouldering the costs of their room and board, knowing that you couldn't turn them in to any authorities, because there are no legitimate authorities out here."

OOC: this is fine and well-supported with RP. Remember that my OOC suggestions are only that; they are things you should consider when posting but you do not necessarily have to follow through.

Action 1

With the melee in the house finished, Tharivol transitions the sleep of the downed hunter into unconsciousness with the ruby-hilt of his rapier. He would want to interrogate him later to understand who they were. Then, he collapsed his shield and traded his rapier for his longbow to continue exchanging arrows with the last hunters.

Action 2

Tharivol would prevent Artur from killing the hunter who the elf had pummeled into unconsciousness. "We need one alive to interrogate." He will stand firm showing that this decision is non-negotiable with the dragonmarked elf.

He accepted the healing with an appreciation. Artur enjoyed being the leader, so he didn't remind him that his Elven magic can heal, too. He'll save it, in case we need it later.

Tharivol will drag the bound unconscious hunter away from Artur and Veratash. He examines the hunter's personal effects looking for clues to use in the interrogation.
Investigation (looking for clues): 1d20 ⇒ 5

The dragonmarked elf puts on his Helm of Comprehend Languages and casts Tongues. Then, he gently wakes the hunter, with maybe healing magic if necessary. He uses food and water to first attempt to shift the captive from hostile to unfriendly. "I won't kill you. If you answer my questions, I'll let you go."
Persuasion: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

Seeing the prisoner not taking the bait. He shifts to motivating the prisoner by pain and threats.
Intimidation: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
* Who is he?
* Who was his leader?
* Why were they pursuing Veratash?
* What did they want with him?
* What are the black herons?

Crappy rolls probably yield nothing. Execute the prisoner if it goes nowhere.

FWIW I pulled the interrogation away from the house, so anyone can join. As opposed to forcing everyone to be there, because that's where Artur relaxed.

Action 2

"Magic." Tharivol simply replied to the Bonetree hunter's ignorance. The dragonmarked elf tried to remember if he had ever heard of a Bonetree clann and wondered what a Khyber cult's reaction to a dragonmark is.

Action 3

"Where is this Revered? In case, we want to bring the outclanner to him. What gifts would he appreciate? Does the Revered control the black herons?" Tharivol kept him talking extracting as much useful intelligence from the prisoner as gently and subtly as possible. Because, information is the true power, as his family taught him.

No worries about leaving out the last part; I realize that It kinda wrote alot of actions there, but it was honestly with the unspoken (now spoken) assumption that someone would interrupt what I was doing, like Tharivol did. I just wanted to get through all of the things that Artur would do post battle. Any way to figure out what the symbiot does?

Sorry, but as I said earlier in the week, I was out of town this weekend and not able to post.

Nyd waves one hand in an absent-minded sort of way. Carefully slotting his first wand away in its sheath, he removes another and waves it as he casts Detect Magic.

He seems a little absent minded as he does so, as if already replaying the combat through his thoughts.

Maybe; but no one has identified it for what it is yet...

No problem. I remembered you were going to be busy. I moved the game along because three out of four people were posting and nothing said/done depended on exclusively on Nyd. I'll do this whenever possible so as to not hold the game back.

Upon seeing the symbiot, Nyd considers it for a moment, attempting to remember if he had heard about it from his training or research.

Action 1:

Veratash replied angrily to Artur "I don't know what to do with them, but I'm not going to kill them because it's inconvenient not to!". Seeing Tharivol stop Artur, he was relieved, only to then be disappointed that he only wanted to interrogate the hunter.

Action 2:

As Veratash saw the exchange, he insisted to Tharivol. "Ask him why they were hunting me. Did you already ask why they were hunting me?" He turned to the hunter and projected in the hunter's mind the question "Why were you hunting me?"

Using the racial Mind Link

Action 3:

When the hunter telepathically replied the same he had answered Tharivol. He realized that the elf was doing the interrogation better.

The kalashtar hadn't prepared himself for this situation, where he could ask questions to his pursuers, questions like whether the tribe's home was close to Zarash’ak, or how many they were, and what would happen if they failed their hunt.

Action 4:

Veratash concentrated on the symbiote and lifts it with his mind, where a feint floating hand materialized at his command. "What is this?", he asked to everyone and no one in particular.

Cast Mage Hand and lift the slug

Nyd, feel free to paraphrase the information at the end of the turn recap with regards to symbiots.

Forgot the religion roll

Action 4:

Veratash finally recalled where he had read about this. "This is a remnant of the Daelkyr invasion. I believe it's supposed to give the wearer some sort of advantage.", he stopped to show it to everyone. "Do any of you want to try it on?", he said jokingly.

OCC:

I plan to recap later today.

Are you guys going to squash my 'treasure'? :)

C'mon, no one is brave enough to join 'forces' with a slimy, little slug... :)

RP opportunity if I ever saw one. I'm actually proud of myself for this one. :)

Of course, I'm just kidding. It's your game so you do what you want. Like always.

Questions?

Nyd looks at the 'slug' with a fair amount of distrust.

"Without further knowledge about such item's advantages and disadvantages, I am not certain that is wise. I suspect it may have been a mark of leadership, or given to the leader as a mark of rank."

"Does it produce a magical effect? and if so, what specific effect does it generate?" asked Artur, intrigued by the creature.
