Thank you for your honesty. Since we taking a break, would you care for some feedback about the game? If not, stop reading now XD

Positive points:
You are the most listening DM I have ever encountered, and that's saying something. I've never felt more catered to (in a good way) than with you. Another very positive thing is how dedicated you are at keeping the game interesting. This investment is probably why you feel a little drained right now, but know that it also makes you special.

Things that I didn't like that are not your fault:
I didn't really get into the spirit of Eberron. This was my first contact with it, and I feel there is much richness about it that is just whooshing past me. This is probably my fault for not researching enough. All I've read about is mostly kalashtar and dragonmarks (to some degree). A consequence of this is that I feel that there's much that Veratash could feel, say and do that he just doesn't because I don't really feel very much in the world.

Things on which I think you could improve:
At some times, I feel like we've been railroaded (such as with all the dealings with the fat tusk tribe), and other times I feel we didn't really know what to do (such as after the victory over the bonetusk). I say this somewhat freely because I am very very much guilty of it myself as a DM. I tend to put problems with no hint about what to do, because I hope the players will feel accomplished if they figure it out themselves. Of course that rarely happens, but something I found works well is to give hints gradually, like first a gentle nudge, but then eventually slapping them in the face with it if they don't get it. I like to have them roll Insight (an important 5e skill) to get some ideas spontaneously. I saw you did something similar there, but I still think we were sort of lost.
A minor thing is that I prefer a smoother approach to the story, instead of the recaps, but I understand that's just a matter of style.

More positive things to close this:
You...

Thank you very much for the feedback!

I feel I need to respond, not to excuse myself but rather to explain my rationale in doing certain things a certain way.

My main goal here is to keep everyone interested and engaged in the story (including myself).

The railroad vs options is a very fine line to walk. There are times when I thought that no hint would be needed and other times when I just thought that you would feel that you were part of a story that was already written. I ended up allowing for you guys to figure things out (I tried to provide at least two ways of solving issues) and the rolling 'insight/intelligence' checks and provide more and more hints. However, this inevitably slowed down the tempo of the game, something that is very fragile in PBP games.

I like turn recaps for obvious reasons already stated (summarizing actions during combat, keeping track of status and/or expendables, providing pics/maps/etc.). However, I recognize that there are other ways of accomplishing similar things. However, I have found out that the single most important benefit of turn recaps is allowing for the different actions to occur simultaneously in real time. This would be impossible to accomplish otherwise without slowing down the game (i.e., having each action come to a conclusion before moving on to the next one) or having two game threads open at the same time.

Anyway, I'm glad you are enjoying (enjoyed?) the story. The character development that occurred with Veratash did not go unnoticed.

You gave life to this story. I feel like the actions and feelings are real. I really really hate Dah'mir and want to piss on his dead carcass. I feel the orc's struggle in Zarash'ak and the city buzzing with movement and trading. Not everyone can do that.

Veratash has grown, and I'll be here keeping him breathing to close his arc. I've even thought of retirement plans for him. I think he'll want to join the gatekeepers.
Full OOC post:
