Female Shifter Barbarian 5 | AC: 17; Init: +2; Perc: +4 (Passive 14) Darkvision

Action 1

Briar's brow furrowed at Veratash

"If it is sned or receive, then once we have sent yes we should make sure it can receive!"

She stared at the item a moment, then looked away again

"That should also probably be best left to someone with some degree of arcane talent, I am likely to break it if I try."

Action 3

"ok? No..." Briar replied to Veratash quickly

"I care not about myself, I worry about Razorback's family over in the hut, we must be quick!"

Action 3

At the sound of the cry for help, Briar's head whipped around and fixed Artur with a ferocious stare

"I know what we spoke about, but those inside are more vulnerable than our group, we must help... now!"

The moment balanced on a heartbeat as Briar turned back to the door and prepared to burst through...

Action 1

"The stone should stay with Zdravko, I believe, who knows more about it than us.", Veratash suggested not wanting to carry more burden related to this cult.

Action 3

Veratash felt sad for the shifter. He nodded in response to her, knowing she would probably use the urgency to hide any emotional pain, as is usual for anyone going through anything.

Action 4

Religion[/dice: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Being too focused on detecting minds inside, Veratash didn't notice the monsters come out aggressively. Being startled by the reply inside, the kalashtar looked about and only then saw the creatures. "Are you safe inside?", he asked. Boy, that was a stupid question, he chastised himself.

OOC: I've prepared a comparison of the changes due to the new 5e Eberron book. I only outlined changes to Briar, Tharivol, and Veratash because I think Artur and Nyd already made their changes and there is no change for Zdravko.

The document is here.

Action 2

Concentration on Detect Thoughts: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Veratash should be used to pain by now, but he wasn't. The claw mash took more than blood from him, it took his breath too, but having spent so long focusing on his abilities, he must be getting better at it by now. He decided to not leave Tharivol alone with that creature if he could. He spread his arms and yelled "tension you two" and rays flew from his hands towards the monster near him and the one close to Nyd, then prepared to flee together with Tharivol if he did.

Cast twinned Ray of Sickness 3rd level slot on Dolgrue's 1 and 3

Both attacks hit, making the Dolgrue bend their bodies in tension making them sick.

Thanks for the notes Fabian. Have to say that I was using whichever version it was that had Shifters with Keen senses: proficiency with Perception so have also lost that. Will change up my sheet shortly.

Action 2

Briar flinched away in surprise as the door exploded outwards, she was stunned at the speed of the beast as it tore in to her. Cold anger flooded her mind and her body responded.

No opportunity attack as it closed? Or was that a surprise round?

Briar snarled, all she could see was Razorback's crumpled corpse, her ears were full of the scared cries for help from inside the hut. Artur's words almost went unheard...

...yet she tore free of the wretched Dolgrue in front of her, and ran towards Veratash and Tharivol.

Disengage then move next to Dolgrue 3. Bonus action to shift

Sorry for being so out of communication this weekend. I was having a poor mental health weekend and didn’t even think of the list.

”Please let me introduce Ansuz (Means Inspiration, Wisdom). She’s young yet, so please be patient with her.”

If seen at a distance, particularly if back dropped by trees, Ansuz looks like a smallish Short Ear Owl. At a much closer distance Ansuz is obviously some sort of construct. Her feathers are composed of metal, with a couple of different metals to produce a multihued effect. The metal has been carefully burnished so that her feathers are not reflective. Her eyes are bright blue gemstones that do shine when the light strikes them.

Ansuz can speak Common, in a quiet and high voice, but at this point in her development has a limited vocabulary of mostly ‘functional’ words.

Now for my current turn actions.

Please note that the first blow from the Dolgrue hit me because of my new AC. Nyd is having critical health issues.

"Zdravko, I will support you the best I can." Nyd steps sideways to provide Zdravko with a potential flank. Then at great personal risk to himself Nyd casts Mage Armor on himself and twists the spell into an Arcane Ward.

I step to the west and south one square, (diagonally) drawing my dagger if I can. This means Zdravko can do the same and get a flank.

OOC: yes, you are right about the first blow hitting you as well. However, let's leave things as is because you probably would have cast mage armor and I 'skipped' you (moved you to bottom of round) in an effort to keep the game moving.

In addition, let's make your AC with mage armor take advantage of your +1 AC for wargorged so it will AC=15 (13+DEX mod + 1 race).

OOC: I don't follow the 'I have one actually'; please elaborate.

Also, I have been going back and forth in making the warforged healing as the official 5e stance (heal like everyone else), but I think I'd like to keep it as is.

I am reading old Eberron novels and the symbiosis between warforged and artificers is evident. The warforged were created by artificers so it makes sense. I like that. Let's keep things as is.

Tharivol's Artur-built shield snaps into shape. The dragonmarked minstrel draws his ruby-hilted rapier and whispers another Elven command word causing a discordant melody that only the threatening dolgrue can hear, wracking it with terrible pain.

The creature doesn’t move into obviously dangerous ground, such as a fire or a pit. On a successful save, the target takes half as much damage and doesn’t have to move away. A deafened creature automatically succeeds on the save.

I like the Psychic Warrior, though it isn't the 50 %Martial, 50% Psychic of the last version we've seen back in 3.5e. Basically it uses its psychic abilities to directly increase its damage and/or defense as a warrior.

I like the Soul Knife, but it needs work. It doesn't have a level 6 ability, so there's a pretty big gap between entry (3) and your second class feature (9).

For the new wizard subclass. The level 2 ability is sort of 'meh' to me, but the level 6 is nice.

Mind Sliver is going to be showing up a lot on caster spell lists where they have a lot of "Save or Suck". It is hard to resist and lowers saves for a round, that's actually really nice.

Artur: Ha ha @ your list! I like the fact that elves are cunning and conniving desert gypsies that no-one trusts, and yup the halflings are creepy as! Also much love for the way they handle assassins bards in the lore ^.^

As for the UA, now I really do want to play a rogue in 5e, it's definitely next on my list to play (campaigns willing and all that), but I have to echo Nyd in saying I'm underwhelmed by the Soulknife :/ Yes you get an on demand magic weapon that's shortsword and hand crossbow combined, but... that's pretty much it. Damage stays at 1d6 and doesn't scale, or get better in any way, ever. It seems to have just the one gimmick and no 'path' or progression or upgrade. Other subclasses develop more over time, are stronger themed I guess? I recognise I am whining just a tad so apologies! Just was so excited and then so... meh!

Anyway, back to hulk smashing the Dolgrues...

Finally able to tap in to her fury, Briar swings her glaive like a club, smashing it down hard on the dolgrue in front of her...

advantage (Faerie Fire): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

Well thank goodness for faerie fire!!

I like the flanking rule. It's the tiny bit of tactical combat in 5e that is otherwise very limited.

I'll check out the new subclasses as soon as I can, but I think I won't manage to do so this week.

@DM: I used 3 sorcery points in my last spell, and it was a 3rd level slot.

Action 2

Veratash, seeing how his attack worked at least for one enemy last time, tried it again. His head ached from the effort, however, and he was feeling dizzy from the large cut he got from the attacker, so he made less of an effort.

Cast twinned 1st level Ray of Sickness on targets 2 and 3

Attack on 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Dmg: 2d8 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6
Attack on 3: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Dmg: 2d8 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10

The attack on the Dolgrue which had hurt him earlier would fly wide, but he allowed himself to lose control on it, letting fate decide.

Tide of Chaos on attack on 3: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

Fate had it that it was not supposed to hit this time. The Dolgrue 2 who was fighting Artur, however, convulsed in pain from tension.

So, I think that means 1 sorcery point used even if the 1st level spell is cast with a 3rd level spell slot.

Thoughts from everyone?

Since we are playing without flank, Nyd would step down and right instead of down and left to be closer to the majority of the party.

If Mage Armor wasn't my action last round.:
Nyd takes another step back, trying to make himself a less convenient target for the monster. Drawing his combat wand, Nyd gestures to frost the monster over with a sharp wave.

Frostbite: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 2) + 1 = 5 DC 15 Con to resist. If failed, take disadvantage on its next attack.

OOC: you're within reach of the dolgrue in front of you so any ranged attacks should be made with disadvantage which is canceled out by shooting the 'glowing' dolgrue.

Still a hit but not critical I'm afraid.

On Sorcery Points:
I looked around, and that question was not answered anywhere I could see.

I'm fine with it, as it make lower level spells more valuable.

I'll try not to be jealous

On Soul Knife:
I would have made them a Monk subclass honestly. Give them a reason to use the Soul Knife instead of just punching someone and scale the damage based on Martial Arts.

(An Example: At third level the Monk gains the Soul Knife just like the current version. Also at level 3 they gain the ability to spend a move action to Psionically Focus. They could spend this Focus to do something, which expands with levels. (Maybe something like a battlemaster, with several options they have to pick from.)

On Soul Knife

OOC: yes, I agree. I think monk would be very easy to reskin as a soulknife and I want to say that I offered that option to someone for this very game.

FYI, it looks like Keith Baker is coming out with a new Eberron book next month to expand the setting and while not cannon, it's as cannon as we can get without being official.

He's going to be using iconics and one of them is a kalashtar monk that is shown on the cover as attacking with 'glowing claws', which sound a lot like soulknives to me.

More info and pic here.

I don't think the soulknife necessarily needs to have the damage scale, since Rogues have a built-in mechanic for scaling damage. I also think that psionic enhancement is really powerful (adding rogue level+int mod to current and max hp is kinda amazing)

@DM Even though only 1 sorcery point was spent on that 3rd level spell, I'm still at 1/2 3rd level slots :/

Veratash, from his vantage point, saw Nyd get attacked and feared for the warforged. He focused his now practiced attack and shot the two Dolgrues close by.

Cast twinned 1st level Ray of Sickness on targets 1 and 2.

Wild Magic: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Not this time :)

Even though his last attack drained his focus, he still managed to keep his wits about him.

Attack on target 1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Damage: 2d8 ⇒ (1, 8) = 9
Attack on target 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Adv: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Damage: 2d8 ⇒ (4, 2) = 6
Crit extra dmg: 2d8 ⇒ (6, 7) = 13

Both attacks hit, making the Dolgrues tense in pain.
