Had my RL game last night
OOC: No problem; I figured as much. I have Tharivol use dissonant whispers again but forgot to remove a spell slot and also to write it up. I did roll for it and took into account for the damage and potential fleeing if not saved but dolgrue saved.
Game on!

Veratash |

Veratash seeing the fury with which his companions were fighting was impressed. He focused on their legs and attempted to weaken them.
Artur probably exploded target no 1, so target no 2 with Ray of Frost if it's still alive
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Damage: 2d8 ⇒ (2, 8) = 10
Unfortunately, the attack missed, but Veratash relaxed feeling the problem was being taken care of.

Nyd of Calling |

Nyd begins to move cautiously around the Dolgure, hoping to have the opportunity to break away later. While he does so he moves his hands in the mathematical gestures that were his magical style.
After the last gesture finished an gust of cold blasts the enemy.
Nyd is circling the enemy clockwise, staying in reach not to provoke, and then casts Frostbite.

Artur D'Cannith |

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Artur followed Briar into the room and looked around, then said "We're not here to hurt you, and we're not with the Dolgrue that were outside. They're dead now, by the way."
Diplomacy: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
Seeing the female didn't trust him, but that his words hadn't made things worse, Artur called out "Tharivol, if you would please?" while backing out of the room slowly.

Briar |

Action 1
As the final dolgrue fell, Briar's visage changed in a heartbeat. For a moment she stared at the downed beast, then at Artur's rifle, then she ran towards the hut.
Rage ended, shift ended
Action 2
Having taken in the scene of the messed up cabin, Briar suppressed the urge to react when the woman jumped out, hatchet at the ready.
"Thistle? It's me, Briar..."
She suppressed the last of her changes, looking like a human once again.
perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Fabian Benavente |

She suppressed the last of her changes, looking like a human once again.
"Are you ok? Are your children ok!?"
Her tone was urgent, demanding.
Thistle kept her hatchet low while she slowly stepped towards the barbarian; the shifter sniffed the air as she neared Briar.
"Briar, you're hurt! Where's my husband?"
He looked towards her children and mentally counted three, "Cliff went outside and told me to stay inside and hide the children."
She continued, "I saw those... things from my window. They were huge. I should have gone with Cliff..."

Nyd of Calling |

Realizing that he wouldn't be much help with the civilians, Nyd flashes a gesture to Artur and begins slowly circling the hut in a to scout the immediate area. Along the way, he gestures with mathematical precision and heals himself of some of his damage.
Repair Warforged, lvl 2: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (8, 2) + 4 = 14

Tharivol Galanodel d'Phiarlan |

Tharivol approaches the house upon hearing his name but doesn't interrupt the reunion of Briar.

Artur D'Cannith |

Seeing the situation and hearing Tharivol approach, Artur would shake his head and close the door quietly. He would then gesture for the rest to gather up before saying "We need to make sure the area is clear, and also see if these creatures tracks come from the same direction as the tracks we're following. I'm guessing they are, but it can't hurt to doublecheck."
Artur moved to the body, took off his jacket, and covered it.
This is going to be bad.
He then got up to help with his part of the search.

Tharivol Galanodel d'Phiarlan |

Weird. I had an earlier post that was eaten.
Action 1
Tharivol lets Briar lead the consolation of the shifter family. He offers to Briar any help that he can do with Prestidigitation, music or what gear he has. He has seen families like this in the war and keeps his emotional distance.
Action 2
"Cave? Are you kidding? I hate underground. Artur? Do you remember the last time I followed you down that hole? We almost didn't make it back." Tharivol reacts. He paces back and forth clearly aggitated.
"Can't we just build a fire inside and collapse the entrance? The smoke will show us other entrances and hopefully suffocate all the nasties. I mean there's a reason that the locals think it's haunted."

Artur D'Cannith |

Action 2:
"You're assuming that the cave is a small thing, and not something bigger. We need to go in, even though I really don't want to either. We need to see what specifically is going on. We'll let Briar finish up with the people inside, but then we need to move forward."

Briar |

Action 1
Glancing at the children, Briar's face registered relief, then as quickly became crestfallen as she met Thistle's gaze again.
"I'm glad you're ok, you and the children."
She paused, glancing down at the floor before moving towards the shifter woman and slowly reaching out to take her hand. She puled the woman to her in an awkward hug, her mind on the children above them, perhaps old enough to hear the weight of the words she had to say, but that was Thistle's call and not hers.
She whispered in Thistle's ear.
"I'm so sorry... he fought bravely, he defended his family well, but he has fallen in battle...
She held the shifter woman then, teeth gritted as her eyes filled with tears, lending her strength until Thistle could recover her composure.

The original post is here, but the gist of it is that you get to design an ‘uncommon major item’ and a ‘rare magic item’.
I intend to move things along later today and will have the party continue its tracking unless I hear otherwise.

Tharivol Galanodel d'Phiarlan |

This instrument would be a thousand years old having been passed down from minstrel. Need to develop this with the history of Eberron and elves...
I’ll develop at the bottom of my profile.

Artur D'Cannith |

Seeing the creature, Artur backed up "Briar, I'll let you handle the critter." said Artur.

Zdravko |
Action 2
Zdravko didn't understand the urbanites "Why you not like cave? Cave cozy...easy to defend. Good for smoking rothe flesh. Doesn't fall like brick piles...strong from time."
Action 3
Zdravko shook her head NO "Kill it...please just kill it. That fierceness is unnatural...things with hair aren't supposed to spout venom like that...oh no...that viscosity...mm-mm...no." she raised her spear, judging the distance for a toss.
Also yes, vote short rest.

Fabian Benavente |

Briar automatically knows the spoiler below but for the others...
Horrid animals are dire animals that have been reshaped and bred for battle. Although Gatekeepers continue to use horrid animals as companions and sentinels, wild horrid animals are common in the western wilderness of Khorvaire, primarily in the Shadow Marches, the Eldeen Reaches, the Demon Wastes, and Droaam.

Tharivol Galanodel d'Phiarlan |

Action 2
"I'm ready to go, but I think Briar, Veratash and Nyd need a breather. We can help burn the husband and dolgrue." Tharivol offers seeing the wounded.
Remember everyone gets an extra 1d6 to healing hit die of short rests with Tharivol around. Isn't he helpful?
Action 3
Jack of all Trades: 1d20 ⇒ 1
"Good luck checking Grandma's vitals with that giant weasel next to her." Tharivol observes. He secretly breathed a deep sigh of relief seeing the fight that they just avoided.
First draft of magic items are at the bottom of the profile.

Artur D'Cannith |

Arcana: 1d20 + 1d4 + 7 ⇒ (17) + (1) + 7 = 25
"That's a creature magically bred for battle by Briar's orders. I saw dogs similar once, although they were the size of horses. I'm going to assume that Briar can handle it."

Briar |

Action 1
Briar shook her head
"There are dark things roaming the land right now, these are but the latest we have seen in the last few days. It would perhaps be better if you moved on for now, found others for now and worked as a pack. This is a time for us to come together, not to celebrate our individuality and ability to stand on our own. The pack must survive. "
She gestured back to the cabin.
"We are tracking these beasts, hunting them, otherwise I would walk with you to the others of our kind. You may trust in me to deliver your vengeance to those directing these creatures."
She hugged Thistle goodbye and headed off after the others.
Action 2
Thank you for your song Tharivol. Yes a short rest please.
Action 3
Briar nodded to Artur as he excused himself from the situation.
Her gaze moved from the fallen Gatekeeper to the creature, she stared with sadness, its white fur reflected in her dark eyes.
"No Zdravko." she said simply, raising one arm to still the goblin's raised weapon.
"This is a Horrid animal, it is one of many that the Gatekeepers created to help fight the dark things that come from Xoriat."
She slowly walked over to the fallen druid, ensuring she moved without being threatening. She crouched down, well out of reach.
"This would have been...her mistress." She stared at the weasel, ignoring the snarling, the bared teeth. A single tear tracked down Briar's face.
"Tam-Tam is gone. There is nothing you can do now." her voice was soft now.
"You are wounded and need succor."
The weasel continued to ignore her, its hissing dwindling, its eyes slitted with pain.
Briar stared. Moments passed. She glanced up at her companions, sighed.
Using one claw-like fingernail, she sliced open the back of her hand and smeared the dark red river that resulted, the acrid metallic scent of her blood filling the air and causing the weasel's nose to twitch.
"Come. We are alike. You must come."
It stared at her, nostrils flaring, but didn't move. She stood and took a step, half turning away.
"It is your choice, your life. Come and live, seek vengeance. Or stay and die, it is not a bad death you seek right now. Close your eyes, let go, stop fighting, know peace at last"
She stared over her shoulder.
"Or come with me. Seek blood for blood. Let your enemy know the pain you feel."
She glanced at the others.
"I know not if she understand my words, but there is more to language, to connecting, than words."

Veratash |

Action 1
Veratash was too flabbergasted with the monster's aggressiveness to act with the shifter family. He stayed outside reliving the last few weeks, so violent and alien that he struggled to realized whether it had happened to him or if they were memories from his Quori spirit.
Action 2
Finally speaking, Veratash said "Yes, let us rest please". His mouth was dry and he took a large gulp from his waterskin.
Not sure how the short rest healing works. Do we choose how much HP we want to recover? If so, I'll take 12HP
Action 3
Religion: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Veratash looked at the fallen dolgrue with awe. When they reached the author of such masterful carnage, he mentioned "It seems we're on the right track", but then he noticed the orc's animal companion and the others' reaction to it. He stayed very still, hoping to not incur the creature's wrath. He was glad Briar was taking the initiative, but kept looking at it even after Briar made to leave. Can it speak and understand language?, he wondered.
Veratash let it follow Briar without coming too close. He wanted it to heal its wounds before he would venture interacting with it
Veratash linked his mind to the dog's. "Hello?", he sent telepathically.

Nyd of Calling |

Action 2
Arthur and Tharivol know Nyd well enough to know that he too is extremely nervous about the cave, showing something very much like fear.
”Caves unfortunately, do not have good connotations with most of us Zdravko. While it is true that it makes them easy to defend, we were rarely on the defending side of such enagement.”
Also, definitely need that short rest. I’m not entire sure how the new healing hp works, but I will use points to fully heal if I can. I will also use Arcane Recovery to recover a 2nd level spell slot (highest I can recover) and take the time to cast Mage armor on Veratash as well.
Bardic Rest Song: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Action 3
Nyd most definitely breaks out his lantern upon entering the cave, which is very funny because everyone knows that Nyd googles that allow him to see in the dark.
Deception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0--lol, yeah its really obvious that Nyd has some fear of the dark.
Arcana: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Religion: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
"Interesting creature. What advantages does the animal have against such creatures?"

"I know not if she understand my words, but there is more to language, to connecting, than words."
OOC: very nicely done, Briar. Thanks.
I would give you 'inspiration' but I finally decided against it. All of you are very good at this and I would have to give inspiration all the time. :)
You all should know that I am very much enjoying the game. So thanks for that.

Artur D'Cannith |

What's wrong with everyone having inspiration all the time? Sounds good to me =P
I also really like the game.

Fabian Benavente |

OOC: Holy shit! I have been watching Youtube videos on real world weasels and those things are vicious hunters!!!
There's a video of a weasel pretty acting like serial killer and hunting/killing/collecting field mice and another of a weasel killing a rabbit about five times its size.
A weasel is NOT like your typical pet ferret.
A weasel the size of a large dog with partial carapace and acid dripping fangs sounds terrifying!
BTW, I intend to recap later today.
