OOC: OK, maybe it's miscommunication or maybe you guys are all kidding. I can't tell.

However, a Lyrandar galleon is a regular ship (water) that is powered by either an air or a water elemental; it is NOT an airship.

This type of ship (elemental galleon or Lyrandar galleon) is what Artur, Nyd, and Tharivol traveled on from Sharn.

I'll just make Artur just bring you all out of your reverie. :)

Briar met Veratash's worried gaze

"The weasel? I can try and say something but to be completely truthful, I have no special bond with her, I'm not so sure she'll listen to me..."

^.^

Briar looked uncomfortable at the mention of airships, and though Artur explained it would be a galleon instead, she still looked dubious.

"These contraptions, that fly over the water using magic, how does one get off if one wants to leave?"

She frowns and concentrated on the others, urging them to answer what seemed to be a very important question to her.

Actions 2

Briar greeted Thistle and her family with warmth, gifting each of the children with a simple token. The doll was but twisted and knotted grass, the wooden sword crude and unpolished tree limbs, whittled in to a rough shape. She ruffled their hair and produced a handful of sweet berries.

The weasel hesistated at the edge of the hut's garden, she sniffed and chittered, then headed off to wherever she went to when the group stopped for any length of time.

M Sorcerer lvl 6 [AC13 | Saves -1 0 +5 0 +3 +7 | Per +3]

Veratash saw no jest in Briar's words. As far as he could tell, he was endangered whenever the weasel looked at him.

Action 2

Veratash didn't know how to act in the shifter's home. He tried playing with the kids and felt he was most comfortable doing that. They made a game of jumping, as Veratash held a rock aloft with his mind and the children had to jump to get it. Of course the eldest of them had an advantage, but he compensated lowering the rock a little bit.

Action 3

Veratash welcomed the inn's warmth and food. He very much enjoyed their bread with butter and honey. To pay for a horse, he offered one of his possessions, a cloak that changed color at the wearer's command (Cload of many fashions). It had served him well, but the horse was more important now, and horses were valuable, especially in such an isolated place. He hoped Sandar would accept it.

As the troupe were set out to Yrlag, Veratash remained silent for a while, trying to put together what was happening to him. He tried humming with Tharivol's tune, but realized he wasn't very good at it, but he enjoyed it anyhow.

Action 2

Tharivol uses this second visit to shifter family to reset the relationship. He arrives as a full minstrel, charming the mother and entertaining the children. For the evening and some of the morning, he distracts them from recent events and returns the hope in their lives.
Performance (charming): 2d20 + 6 + 1d4 ⇒ (18, 18) + 6 + (3) = 45 total 27

Action 3

Pay Sander? My entertainment in this village is worth more than stabling and borrowing some horses. The dragonmarked elf thinks to himself. He offers a concert to attract clients to Sander's tavern and potentially a volunteer to return the villages horses that they need to borrow.
Performance (concert with the Battle at the Standing Stones: 2d20 + 6 + 1d4 ⇒ (6, 7) + 6 + (1) = 20 total 13 meh.

His performance was the least inspired of recent memory. He really needed to return to civilization.

"Tharivol is right, although I'll say that for the galleons, they more or less function like normal water ships, so you can just treat them the same. Have you ever been on a ship before?"

Action 2:

Artur again wished Sandar and his people well, and left 40 gold sitting on the nightstand of his room, so that it would be found after they had left. It was most of the money he had left on him, but it wouldn't be hard to make more.

Action 3:

As Nyd moved up next to him and commented on the bridge, Artur said "yeah, these old bridges are really made to last. You have to give competent bridge builders their due: they usually are long dead before their bridges give out."

At Tharivol's comment, Artur said "We should just check the taverns near the ship. that'll be where you find the captain."

Artur then began steering his horse in that direction.

Briar stared at Tharivol

"Swimming I can do, flying not so much..."

Her brow furrowed in thought but she answered Artur

"I've hitched rides up and down the river, canoes and skiffs, fishing boats. Nothing you'd probably associate with paying passengers..."

Actions 3

Briar kept an eye on the others moving across the bridge with them.

As the group passed over, Briar noticed Nyd's interest in the foundation.

"Fear not Nyd, I have been over this span several times, by all accounts despite its age it is unlikely to collapse"

She smiled, trying hard to appear reassuring. She glanced at the ground then and sighed, eyes flicking to Veratash. She moved over to him and leaned in, perhaps unaware of how imposing she might appear to the kalashtar.

"The weasel..." she whispered conspiratorially "...I think we ought to perhaps give her a name if she's to be hanging around, and it does look like she's going to stay for a while. I think I may call her lítiðogreitt... it's a word that means 'little and angry'!"

She tried a smile.

"You know, I think if she had designs on you then she'd have tried a nibble by now, I think you'll be safe you know."

Actions 4

"Well it's certainly...pretty. Does the gaudy paint serve some purpose, is it magical and repels the water?"

Action 2

Veratash wasn't sure whether he was returning or not, so Anna's request felt odd to him. But he felt indebted to depart with Sandar's horse and leave nothing behind. He pulled out his cloak and handed it to Anna. "Put it on", he said, then explained her how to use it. "It fits you!", he exclaimed.

Action 3

Veratash took note of how Tharivol moved around the crowd trying to get information. He noticed how he talked about himself only enough to have others spill out things about themselves they normally wouldn't tell a stranger. I think I can do it, but then looked at the people around him and his confidence faltered. He was nervous and without realizing, he was holding the dragonshard hanging around his neck.

Briar broke his nervousness when she started talking. As intimidated he felt by her, he was thankful that she was on his side while walking next to the scoundrels.

"Litidugraht?"[ /b], he tried to replicate her proposed name for the weasel. He then chuckled when she translated it. As the shifter explained to him how safe he should be, he got serious again with the thought of the weasel attacking him. [b]"Ok", he said to her. "But let's keep it fed as best we can.", he feigned a smile at her, remembering that if she wanted him harm, there was nothing he could do to stop it. So he tried to relax.

Action 4

Veratash looked with wonder at the ship, trying to understand how it worked. He followed Artur to look for its captain and remained watchful, hoping to learn something about negotiating. However, he was suddenly scared that Dah'mir could have some sort of spies in Yrlag. He began looking around trying to spot if anyone was targeting him. It was careless to come here without a disguise of some sort, he thought regretting not having his magical cloak around.

Briar glanced at the sky for a moment, stupid braggards who didn't even realise they were courting death.

She stood close and kept an eye on Zdravko, ready to back her if necessary.

Actions 2

Briar stared between the weasel and the pub.

"I must go inside, you cannot follow" she said to the weasel.

"Hunt?"

The weasel stared at her, looked at the pub and then chittered in a disgusted manner, before dashing off who knew where.

Briar tried not to think about what the weasel would hunt, and followed the others inside.

As Zdravko's amulet lit up, Briar looked at each of her companions. They would know what to do with the information she was sure. She watched Veratash to see if he knew the voice.

Actions 3

Briar tried very hard not to look disdainfully at the half-elf dandy. Evidently a Dragonmarked peacock preening amongst the rabble. She kept an eye out for trouble instead, she best served the group by protecting them, so that's what she focused on.

Can you be more specific about the prepaid passage that Nyd, Artur & Tharivol have? Is it with any Lyandar captain? Does it involve paperwork? Can Tharivol fake the paperwork? How much is usual passage worth?

Action 1

Veratash was so tense he forgot to breathe. He was sure this would lead to some sort of fist fighting, right here in the city. He fumbled for ideas of how to dissuade those brutes from getting too physical. While he did come up with something, he decided to wait until it was clear there would be fighting. Maybe this is their form of communication, the kalashtar thought to himself.

If fight is about to start:

Veratash clenched his dragonshard and with much mental effort transmitted an image of terrible dread on the brutes, making them feel unyielding fear.

Cast Subtle Cause Fear using a spell slot as high as there are brutes, up to 3. DC 15

The effort made a blood drop come out of his ear, which he quickly wiped clean.

Action 2

Veratash's heart stopped when he heard the amulet talk. He felt Briar's gaze, but he tried to ignore it.

@DM - Do I recognize the voice?

He suggested to the group "It seems that person thinks we're his employee", unknowing of any relationship the dolgaunt would have with that person other than employment. "Maybe we can trick them to tell us their hiding place. Maybe say: 'In Zarash’ak, you mean?' or something?", he said wondering what would be best trick.

Action 3

The appearance of the captain brought wonder to Veratash. He imagined a wielder of storms sailing. However, he let Artur deal with the man.

You have three Kundarak letters of credits payable to Lyrandar for $1,250 gp each (3,750 gp total), which would buy passage as follows 1,250 miles of airship or 2,500 miles of elemental galleon (distance from Yrlag to Sharn).

Yrlag to Zarash'ak is 1,500 miles so you need 750 gp (x6), 4,5000 gp for elemental galleon.

Even if you trade in your letters, you are still 750 gp short (and you have no way of getting back to Sharn). :(

OOC: the Dhakaani Messengers do not convey voices. The artificers used the devices as a way to immortalize certain voices (their children, spouses, lovers, friends, etc.) so they would always hear a particular voice every time the device was used.

This particular voice is of a little girl, presumably hobgoblin. Maybe Zdravko knows more about this artificer. :)

At Z's choice words the man came on full hard, a right hook that could demolish a face apart like wet paper. The little goblin girl wasn't a stranger to swift punishment though, and a quick bob sent the blow harmlessly to the side.

Now in the thick of it, she realized what she had actually done, and wisely reflected. The essence of a disguise is to be 'not you'...the simplest mantra of shadow arts, abandonment of self. The guise had triggered subconsciously thanks the drill of training under a hard master, she thought...and the appearance of this gambling rover persona was shocking even her.

Awareness of this 'self-abandoned' wasn't enough to stop it, however.

Grabbing and holding the wide running arm, she lunged straight through the rogue's legs, bending him over face-to-crotch. On the other side of that business, a swift flying kick to the back hump sent him face first into the bench...and with a sick *crack* his lights were assured twisted out.

She knelt at his coin pouch, and with a quick snap tore it from his belt. Glancing at Artur "Yeah. I'd say he needs a drink. But he can first bathe in the challenge of my ancestors..." and underhands the coins over the hobgoblin bridge, into the rushing river below.

Whether from Zdravko's actions, or the subtle fear invoked by the hidden psionist, the matter seemed closed.

"The Kalashtar, actually. The Elf is...standing right behind me, apparently." said Artur as he heard Tharivol speak after approaching.

Nice description :)

Briar watched dispassionately as Zdravko took the bandit apart in combat. She chuckled as he fell unconscious

"An interesting move, I fear I lack the...'lithe nature' required to make that work however!"

The captain seemed mesmerized and took in all the details of the ode. He was the one that started clapping but was soon followed by the entire clientele of the tavern.

"Well, that was... excellent. And I have so many questions."

He looked back at Artur, "OK, I'll make an exception. I really don't have any cabin space but I'll clear a spot down with the cargo if you still want to depart tomorrow."

He added, "Given that the accommodations aren't up to par, I'll only charge half-price as long as you promise to provide additional details of your Battle at the Standing Stones. Do we have a deal?"

Action 1

Veratash was taken by surprise by the speed of it all, he had thought a drunken's brawl would be slower for some reason. Of course, he didn't know if those people were drunk or not, but surely as he had intended, he entered the mind of the man's companions and subtly drove fear into them. By the time he was done with his mind attack, the man was already unconscious on the ground, unable to feel fear. However his companions ran faster than he'd ever seen.

"Ha ha! You gottem...", Veratash said almost saying Zdravko's name out loud.

Action 3

As Artur mentioned him, Veratash feigned a smile trying to show he didn't care that he was in trouble. However, he was unsure why this captain wanted so badly to hear about a battle, given that he didn't care so much about battle himself.

"Seems quite fair to me Captain." said Artur as he pulled out his letter of credit and offered it to the man, then gestured for Tharivol to do the same.

"Will we need to see to our own food and water?"
