That makes sense. Nadiya travels in areas like this specifically looking for people in need. Certainly she would help track down ghouls if she had been warned of them, especially if they are in such numbers and taking such action that they are wrecking whole towns.

Are the newbies traveling together? It might make sense. Nadiya would join up with different folks traveling in the same direction for safety in numbers, and that way we only have to introduce ourselves as a group to the old party rather than orchestrate three different meetings.

It makes the most sense to have the newbies traveling together, both narratively and for simplicity, as you said.

Yes, sorry! Weekend got away from me. Us being sent out from Tamrivena makes a lot of sense.

My idea for Miruna has a bit of overlap with Nadiya in terms of being an itinerant healer, though with a more martial focus: trying to keep the roads safe and all. With that in mind, I think it makes sense for the two of them to be at least acquainted with one another, possibly well enough to feel comfortable traveling together to dangerous territory in search of survivors.

On a side note, I think I need a different profile picture, since ours our a bit too similar looking (they may even be the same character, IDK).

With that in mind, then, I'd guess the two of you were maybe headed to Clover's Crossing when you ran into me. Maybe I helped you BS your way out of a problem or something with my Bluff Skill and you decided I was useful to have around? In any case, I'd go with you two knowing each other first and tacking Leta on en route, if that's good with DM Vayelan.

On the healing side, note I heal in reverse (I've got a wand for that), so the healing you two provide with be split among the rest of the party except Leta, unless you can spontaneously throw an inflict.

Ah, interesting! Okay. I can still use the Heal skill once a day to restore HP to you, though it takes an hour to do. Taking a 10 at our current level, that would be 17hp before we have to dip into your wand charges (assuming we have the time to spare). If someone casts guidance on me the whole time or we have some other way to get me a +1 for an hour, then it's 19hp.

Inflict light wounds isn't one of my spells known, unfortunately, but it is on my list. We could probably pick up a page of spell knowledge containing it at some point, or Nadiya could teach it to her familiar.

Yikes, I just found a flaw in my plan. I just assumed Inflict Wounds would be on my Bard spell list like Cure is, but it's not. Need to exchange my wand for a few potions and maybe get in less melee than I had planned to. Glad I looked into that.

So yes, if you gain the ability to cast it once or twice at some point it would be useful. Once this weakness becomes known in game (when Leta's not pretending to be a normal human around the party anymore) I might even buy some scrolls for you and Nadiya, since Inflict is on the witch's list as well.

UMD is also an option. I took a glance at your sheet and it looks like you still have 5 ranks for Adventuring skills left to assign, which could get you up to +12 in UMD. Not enough to be reliable in a fight, but good enough for out of combat, which is when you'd probably be using the wand. You also have 4 Background skill ranks left over.

Yeah, I don't really play with alternate skill rules myself, so that doesn't surprise me. I'll have to look that over and adjust soon. That said, you're right, I don't want to rely on a successful D20 roll in order to get urgent healing. A few potions will do for now.

Leta, I have inflict moderate wounds known. I remembered your race when you submitted your app, and added it to my spells known when I leveled up to 6. It's not much but I do have the spell. Unfortunately I can only spontaneously cast cure (a feature of my archetype). I can use a wand though...

Miruna, are our characters too similar? I don't really want to rewrite or submit another character at this point but also want to be sure I don't want to step on toes either. I've been in a game before where I was redundant ability-wise, and I really don't want to be again. This said Nadiya is much more of a support character than primary combat.

The "how we know each other" bit sounds fine to me.

I don't think so. It takes me a full-round action and a skill check to heal someone, so you're going to be much much better at healing in combat. Plus, my turns are better spent fighting the bad guys. I can, however, take care of most out of combat healing, which should reduce the pressure on your spell slots, especially if you need to reserve some to heal Leta.

You guys probably would, since presumably we've been in at least one combat before. She would have initially tried to hide it, and explained her reasoning later (fear of anti-vampire sentiment among the general populace) when that became untenable.

So it's not something she often announces to people who don't need to know, but party members, sooner or later, need to know.

Assuming that we're talking about the collapsed stairwell you used to get down to this level, then yes. There is plenty of room for a Medium creature to go up or down the shaft.


Just to clarify, the collapsed staircase only leads between levels one and two (which is where you are now); it doesn't lead down to the last level of the catacombs.

Sorry, to make sure I understand: I thought there was a semi-collapsed stairwell in the room where Bashuk found the bad air and game piece? I assumed that was what the grey box was covering.

Ah, I see the confusion now. I've removed the gray boxes to better reveal the area you've explored so far. That area is just a side passage with more burial niches that loops around to the main arterial hallway. The only thing of interest there is that the ghouls have heaped the refuse from past meals there, the smell masked by the bad air.
