            I just noticed something else. I thought Gaius had death ward on himself but that doesnt seem to be the case. Each of the Astradaemons attacks imposes a negative level. The deathless armour gives a chance to negate.

EDIT: To be clear, the 'Talisman of the Summoned Steed' is actually a slotless wondrous item (which is more akin to a Figurine of Wondrous Power), not one of the neck-slot Talismans, which were created years later. I can see why it might be confusing.

            Sir Ambrose launches himself at the Astradaemon. Teeth, claws and finally a body slam send the creature crashing out of the air to bounce off the roof and down the side of Skyreach as it splatters on the stone flagstones far below.
Gaius remains lying on the air, unconscious but not bleeding due to the power of his scabbard. Vahlo glances briefly at his unconscious form and smiles. He quickly strikes out three times at Sir Ambrose, but only a single blow gets through. He then takes a step above Shump and, with his final strike, he drives his blade into Gaius, twisting it visciously.
Sir Ambrose is hit once for 37 damage and gets bleed 1. Gaius is hit for 28 damage after energy resistance and dies. I appreciate that might seem harsh but is absolutely considered part of his tactics I am afraid. If someone can do something about that attack then go ahead
As Gaius expires his invisibility purge spell ceases to have effect and Vahlo fades from view.
I believe this is right as Gaius is no longer a legal target. If you have see invisibility active you need to give me a caster level check as he is currently benefitting from non detection. The greyed out token is Vahlo's last kknown location. Given he has already 5' stepped this turn he should still be there unless he has some way to move as a free action which would be unusual.

            You do not need to move, Gaius will simply have dropped to the roof at this point. Gaius, I believe dying will mean most if not all the spells on you are no longer in effect. Those on Sir Ambrose are fine as are your magic vestments. On the plus side I am going to say that your stagger and deaf conditions also go away. Your scarab uses another charge and prevents the breath of life negative level.
I am not sure how the gloves interact with the sacriligeous aura as the gloves dont really have a concentration check value, just a caster level. I am going to say it bypasses the aura.
With a shudder Gaius takes a breath but remains unconscious.

            Indeed, smite is making life...difficult
Alie relocates to a safe distance. Valrar strikes repeatedly but each blow is blocked. Wynns arrows all go well wide of the mark. Even Shumps powerful blow is quickly deflected by the extremely skilled opponent. This just leaves Sir Ambrose.
His jaws snap out, crushing armour and bone and then a single huge paw crushes the poor mans skull.
Vahlo crashes to the ground, quite dead.

            It'd be at least somewhat in character to start tearing up the double-corpse, but I'll hold off on that.

            The group gathers together, confidant in having defeated the renegade Decemvirate member. Above you, hovering over the roof of Skyreach, the glowing red disc begins to spin and arc red lightning from it to Vahlo's Decemvirate Helm and his blade. Each of you feels an unpleasant buzzing sensation and your ears begin to pop.
The Ambassador, apparently alarmed, begins projecting images to all of you of the top of Skyreach exploding and of a massive wave of magical energy being directed from here out into the Cairnlands surrounding the city where the Whispering Tyrant waits. Clearly whatever ritual Vahlo was attempting is going awry and unless someone does something about it quickly it might devastate a good section of Absalom!
Each of you have one round of actions to try and do something to stop the magical devastation which is about to occur. You can do one of the following:
Attempt a Knowledge Arcana check to control the energies
Diffuse the energy with a dispel or greater dispel (cast level check needed)
Attempt to create some sort of physical barrier (wall of stone, force etc)
Do something else which manipulates elemental energies
You have until the end of tomorrow to post what you would like to do after which I will go ahead and describe what happens.

            The group gather together to try and blunt the failing ritual while Gaius brings some much needed healing to several of you. Just as Shump suggests heading to the ground there is a groaning, tearing noise. The glowing red disk implodes, dragging all of you into it and then explodes outward, seeking to deliver the magical energy to the waiting Tyrant.
Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, the groups interruption has disrupted things and instead you find yourselves crashing to the ground near the Wall of Names. Vahlo's Decemvirate Helm smashes into the Wall with a loud crack and red lightning continues to spill from it.
At this point we go back into initiative. Each of you is prone. The new map is up.
