Booker doesn't have the cash to write things in his spellbook right now, but he is happy to make scrolls for you if you like :)

No worries, I can loan you the gold. Heightened awareness, identify, and mage armor are definitely good spells to have scrolls of, but I have more 1st level spell slots than I can reasonably use.

Thank you! :) If it is ok with you, Booker would be very interested in that Burning Arc spell for his book (he has like nothing for swarms), but otherwise scrolls of identify, mage armor, and heightened awareness would be sweet (please feel free to reject any expenditures, this is your money he is using!)! He casts an extended mage armor, but a scroll for when he is tapped out from the day and woken in the middle of the night would be useful!

Burning Arc is, unfortunately, no good against swarms, since it targets a specific number of creatures (1 primary target, then an extra one every 3 caster levels).

So, the 3 first level scrolls will cost 37.5 gold. If you still want the scroll of burning arc, it'll cost 100 gp since sorcerers have delayed spell progression (something I'll never stop grumbling about).

Pretty sure you can make all the Spellcraft checks on a 10 so you just need to decide if you want to owe me 37.5 gold or 137.5 gold. :)

Aw man! So it’s the opposite of a Unicorn for Booker: single target but not an attack roll so he can’t sneak with it. He’ll go without it, but will take the rest and owe you 37.5gp!

Do you have any more business to complete in Charis, or are you ready to set out again.

Also, just to confirm, the plan is to travel north along your newly built roads and bridge to cross the Thorn, follow the Shrike until you pass over Nettle's Crossing, then press on westward towards Lake Silverstep?

The total route would be approximately 72 miles (36 miles to Nettle's Crossing, then 36 miles to Lake Silverstep).

You would be able to find some fisher folk who could ferry you across the river in the capital hex, but their boats would not be large enough to carry your mounts, so your travel progress after the crossing would be slower.

That is the plan if we do not have bridges as part of the roads that were built in the capital grid.

Okay. I think I see my mistake. I overlooked that the river runs through the capital hex. For some reason, I thought it ran along the hex's border. I can deduct the extra BP as bridges are built over the river in the capital hex, and they will be ready for the party's return journey.

A message for all my games:

My apartment's internet connection went out two days ago, and it will not be fixed until Sunday at the earliest.
(I am borrowing a friend's WIFI to post this).

I will resume posting updates once my connection is repaired, but in the meantime, I will be out of contact.

My apologies for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience.

GM, are there any knowledges we can roll on that juicy intel? Normally, as a player, I've heard enough about something to roll it right without looking it up, but there is enough in that paragraph that I don't know that I'd like to not spoil it for myself :)

Sorry for the delay. I've been dealing with a bit of a family crisis, so my posting rate has been a bit bottlenecked this week.

Knowledge (Nature) can provide information on the fey opponents, Orsig and Herrketa.

Knowledge (Planes) can provide information on the Glimmer Sisters, as shae are outsiders.

Knowledge (Religion) can provide information on the power that the Lamashtu cult leader likely wields.

Thank you everyone,
I am home and resting as best as I can. Covid is not fun to get. I will be back up to normal posting rate soon. Since I am self quarantining, I will be using my laptop for posts. It may be a bit hard to view maps right now but I will make do.

I will be wishing you well with all my might.

The family crisis I mentioned last week was actually my mother being hospitalized with Covid, so I have personal experience with how bad it can be.

Please take care of yourself.

Just to clarify, based upon my interpretation of Christian's summary, the plan suggest by Eranex is for Apothyl go with you to confront the cultists, and hopefully catch them in a pincer, whilst Eranex distracts the evil fey.

I've moved tokens onto the map of the lair (once again, please pardon it for being very much not to scale) to represent what I was trying to describe.

I think what we were going for was Christian, Brandt, and Booker, assaulting from a different tunnel than Orlogg, Bydar, and Syretia. But This was as I understood it as well.

Okay. I just wanted to make sure you weren't operating on the assumption that both dragons would be helping against the cultists.

I am sorry...I got confused. Brand has the correct way...I did think both dragons were going to be with us at the same time with the cultist. My fault. Brand made this plan and I was trying to interpret it correctly. I am sorry if I messed it up. It is a very good plan

Okay, time for me to embarrassingly admit that I forgot about the invisibility cast upon Christian.

Perception - would the cultist have heard/noticed Christian's presence?: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

The cultist recognizes that someone is there, either from the sound of his armor and gear, or the effect his boots have on the thin layer of water and moss on the floor.

However, Bydar is correct: Christian would get a reroll courtesy of Protection from Evil, since Command is an Enchantment (Compulsion) effect. He would also get +2 to this save thanks to Protection from Evil.

Female Changeling Sorcerer (Sage) 7 | 37/37 HP | AC16 T13 FF14 | CMD15 | F +3 R +5 W +8 | SR 13 | Init +3 | Perc +9 | Arcana +17, Dungeoneering +15, Fly +6, History +13, Local +11, Planes +16, Religion +12, Sing +8, Spellcraft +17 | Spells: 3rd 5/5 2nd 7/7 1st 7/8 | Conditions: Mount

Protection from Evil would only give Christian a reroll if it was cast on him after the Command spell. Since it was already in place, he would actually just be completely immune.

Protection from Evil wrote:
Second, the subject immediately receives another saving throw (if one was allowed to begin with) against any spells or effects that possess or exercise mental control over the creature (including enchantment [charm] effects and enchantment [compulsion] effects, such as charm person, command, and dominate person). This saving throw is made with a +2 morale bonus, using the same DC as the original effect. If successful, such effects are suppressed for the duration of this spell. The effects resume when the duration of this spell expires. While under the effects of this spell, the target is immune to any new attempts to possess or exercise mental control over the target. This spell does not expel a controlling life force (such as a ghost or spellcaster using magic jar), but it does prevent them from controlling the target. This second effect only functions against spells and effects created by evil creatures or objects, subject to GM discretion.

All right then. Even though the cultist might have detected Christian's presence, her attempt to cast Command upon him would have been for naught since the Protection of Evil would have rendered him immune.

No save would have been necessary, and Christian is free to take his turn as normal.

I was originally trying to set up you guys with a flanking...if I could take down the effigy thingy. I was hoping that either the press of the dragon and you would push him back towards me or I would take down the effigy thing and be able to move in behind him. For now I would use brandy as a flanking partner.
