I had a similar design philosophy: yeah, my AC is high, and my hitpoints are OKish, but then you look at how much nonlethal Cedric carries on his back literally all the time and, well...

It's a good thing Legendary Kineticist gets Battle Burn so I can use one good Flash Infused Lightning Blast in a combat for free, otherwise I might never touch the thing with a 10 foot pole.

I don't think I'm gonna do the most damage, but between the trips and the substance infusions I can lay on my attacks, I can do some fun support stuff.

Let's do one of these things!

Between losing a huge reply due to my phone dying near the end of a reply while at work on Friday and being away from the keyboard yesterday, I have lost two days of posting. This is unacceptable, indeed unbefitting, behavior on my part and I apologize for keeping a few of you waiting two days for replies.

@gyrfalcon: If you are happy with the simple stat change to represent Tinker Gnomes, then I am okay with that. I was willing to allow something more in-depth to represent their old stats, but I don't mind that simple change either.

I would rule that Wild Magic effects on Extracts would effect the imbiber, yes. So someone that rolled for an explosive cloud of butterflies appearing out of nowhere would likely vomit them forth. Zagyg would be pleased.

I would rule that Weapon Attunement would work for Bombs, but you're limited in what weapon qualities you can take. You could not, for instance, have Vorpal Bombs. Does that seem fair?

@River of Sticks: You absolutely may take more Pulse Feats, assuming you qualify for them. Everyone just gets a freebie.

Can you list what page the Great Mind PrC is on? I am having difficulty locating it to assess whether it would be a fit for Prestigious.

I was fond of Azuriel's basic premise and I am not disappointed at all with her progression. Her whole 'Knight of Order' vibe really clicks with me because of how realistically she depicts it. She's not depicted as a soulless instrument of Law and I like that she has more depth to her personality than her concept would suggest.

@JonGarrett: You definitely were not exaggerating when you said that character was a novel unto itself! That statblock, even without full descriptions, is massive and honestly looks like it belongs on one of my NPC pages because of how complex it is. That's not even getting into the fact that you even detailed her vocal range. Consider me impressed!

@Jereru: The Speed of Light choice makes me think of Xenoblade Chronicles 2. "Nothing personal, kid." Anime Teleport Slash

Your question of language is one with a great deal. Common, Celestial, Infernal, and the four elemental languages would be the most common ones. Why would "Common", which should be so different, be so similar to other variants of it? I am going to go with the Mass Effect answer of, "because reasons", those reasons being that the Fade visited an uncountable number of planes and spread their language with the still-young races. Each plane evolved it into a number of dialects, but they're remarkably similar at the root. This also ties into the old Planescape trope of recurrences, which is something I am fond of in planar games.

I like the changes you made. They solidify and expand your character in interesting ways.

@Teiidae: You would be considered a Living Saint-Herald (M1-T).

What were you asking about specifically for the Living Saint Mythic Path in regards to how it works with Oracles?

Your character is intriguing. Sahuagin God-King is the vibe I am getting from reading him. I would make a "Can a God-King bleed?" joke, but Sahuagin and blood tend to not mix well! Or is it that they mix too well?

@Rednal: I will allow people to submit multiple characters.

@YoricksRequiem: Zika is interesting! I really like how she captures the weird and often contradictory nature of the planes. She very much feels like something you would find in Hyraeatan and the fact that you managed to nail that feeling as spot-on as you did is quite impressive.

I also think you and JonGarrett are currently competing for the Most Lengthy Statblock Award(tm) and I am hard-pressed finding errors. It's going to be interesting deconstructing you two's characters to make sure the math checks out.

@Seranov: You may not substitute the Pseudogestalt for a Trinity Angel. You can take it normally though. It does not qualify for Prestigious for the same reason that a Mythic Theurge or Cerebramancer does not qualify: it gives you the large chunk of several classes at once.

@Josh.Ingle: Great take on the redeemed villain! I will admit to being a fan of tragedy in theater and his backstory both showcases and is set up for quite a lot of it. I must profess to being curious about how he would handle his mother's schemes to repay his betrayal of the Mantis. Would he try to avoid it? Would he seek justice for all his mother has done, both to him and to others? Would he try to reason with her despite, from what I gather, the cruelties she visited on him when she raised him and give her a second chance like he was given?

Dark Archive

I'll stick to what I have now, in that case. I am very much content with the character I've built.

Having considered it, I think I'll pass on trying to make Kariel a character here. XD She doesn't really fit this game setting. I'll stick with Eirian, who seems to be more popular anyway.

Curious,

Are you only looking to take just 6 players(as the OP seems to hint at)? Or will you be accepting more than the 6?

Oh, Yorrick wins this one. I think his application is about a 1000 words longer. Given how exhausting I found writing poor, tiny Rani my hat is off to him.

I explained most of the math in the profile, I think, but if you have any queries don't hesitate to ask. With so many abilities and items interacting it got a little...whacky, but I'm pretty confident on the math.

Or I was until I typed that.

...be right back, checking math again.

@Seranov: Understood. He definitely stands on his own.

@Rednal: Just offering because of your musings. I took the time to read her profile after I replied. It seems you have a knack for making characters appropriately anime and I say that as a good thing.

@Monkeygod: Yes, I will be accepting six players for flavor reasons tied to numerology. The original Wardens were six in number and, counting their handler, each Warden cell numbers seven. This campaign will have a "Rule of Seven" theme just like Planescape had the "Rule of Three". Most truly auspicious things come in groups of seven. Seven Seraphs, Seven Parities of Light, Seven Parities of Darkness, seven major figures tied to Hyraeatan, seven races iconic to Hyraeatan, et cetera.

@JonGarrett: Another compulsive worrier in regards to character math? I feel your pain there, because I am very similar.

You know you're a pretty funny guy :). Glad you find my character intriguing, has been through five different gamesm nearly to hell and back. Everytime he comes back he's a little bit stronger, anyways I really like the living saint but it's clearly meant for a cleric or druid character.

Living saint:
Living saint wrote:

Forsaken (Ex): At 3rd tier, your connection to your

god ends. You lose all spells and class features as if you
were an ex-cleric (or ex-druid, including your animal
companion if applicable). However, you need not atone.
Rather, the pantheon itself has plans for your potential
and immediately reinstates everything except your
domain spells, domain powers, and animal companion.
Until you are no longer forsaken, you become a child
of the entire pantheon. Instead of just receiving power
from multiple deities, however, the gods may also
petition you, as well. For example, two gods may ask you
to undertake two different, time-sensitive, and possibly
conflicting missions. Which god will you disappoint?
Although you lose all access to domains of your
original god, other gods steer you toward their causes
with access to their domains. Each day you may choose
any two domains (or one domain if you are a druid), and
you gain the corresponding domain spells and powers
for that day. You may not select your original domains
even if they also belong to another deity. For each
domain you choose each day, you must name and pray to
a deity to which the domain belongs. This occurs during
the normal period when you regain your daily allotment
of spells. If you are a druid, you may forego your daily
domain selection to summon a daily animal companion
instead. The animal must be indigenous to your locale. It
arrives immediately after you regain your daily spells.
Your relationship with a god determines whether that
god grants you access to his domains. When you become
forsaken, gods that share your alignment are initially
friendly, gods of diametrically opposed alignment
are unfriendly, and all others are indifferent. You may
endeavor to change these initial attitudes as described in
the “Changing Deity Attitudes” sidebar on page 76.
Only indifferent, friendly, and helpful gods grant you
domain access. You add +1 to the DC of all saving throws
granted to targets by domain spells and powers you
receive from helpful deities. This stacks with the Spell
Focus feat. You take a –1 penalty on all saving throws
against domain spells and powers granted to an enemy
spellcaster by a deity that is hostile toward you.

Living Saints

of Other Classes

Although the living saint mythic path is geared
toward clerics and druids, it is possible for other
divine spellcasters to embark on this journey. In the
case of paladins, inquisitors, oracles, shamans, and
other divine spellcasters who seek to become living
saints, players should work with their GM to retool
this path as necessary. In particular, while the divine
spellcaster is forsaken, he or she should lose access
to a key class skill that can be temporarily restored
only by indifferent, friendly, or helpful deities.
Multiclassed PCs can access the living saint mythic
path if they have class levels in a divine spellcasting
class; characters with levels in cleric or druid will
find this path more suited to them. Non-divine
spellcasters and martial characters can’t access this
mythic path.

So if it's easier for my main path to be a herald I can work with that, both fit the character thematically. We can submit second character? Drizzt clone here I come!

Thanks for the answers! Yes, aligned weapon for bombs (but not being able to enchant them otherwise) works great!!

One note for all fellow builders: In addition to healing, buffing, and bombing (mentioned above) I think that Clara will be a good, stealthy scout (and can easily be a trap-breaker for us).

One more Q: I'm torn between liking the "classic" feel of an alchemist (who brews extracts that can be used by them only, or by someone they hand it to (if they have the Infusion Discovery)) and spheres being such a fun system. I may go with Paizo's alchemist anyway, but here's my latest brainstorm about how to capture that feel in a spherecaster:

Would it work to take
1. the "selfish" drawbacks (e.g. "Personal Magics [Core] You may only target yourself and your own equipment with your enhance ability. You cannot take the Ranged Enhancement talent, and any magic (except for the Bestow Intelligence, Lighten, and Animate Object talents) bestowed on an object ceases to function when wielded by another creature.")
2. ...but then take the Alchemist's Infusion Discovery?
My thought is that this would get me back to making single-use potion-like things that I can hand out, just like Paizo Alchemists do. What do you think? (and if that doesn't work, is there another way to capture that, that you'd suggest with Spheres?) Otherwise I could be perfectly happy using the default Paizo extract rules.

@GM: Glad you like it! I was worried I went a bit too theatrical on him, but I figured a Mythic character was allowed to play into the cliches a little bit.

At present, if confronted with his mother's schemes, Cedric would probably continue as he has unwittingly been and avoid them if possible, only really confronting her if things got really bad; either if the attempts are too frequent or they start targeting allies and/or friends.

In particular, he isn't quite a good enough person to want to forgive her yet. Ignore her, move on, try and put it behind him, yes... but he's not quite at the level of Good that would allow him to truly forgive her, understand that she did what she did because she wanted him to succeed, and offer her a second chance.

Edit: Also. Before I forget, is Battlefield Sense too much like Monk AC to stack with Unarmored Training? Because Cedric could always use more dodge.

@Gyrfalcon: if you go classic alchemist, you need to get mythic extend and eternal potion. Having permanent haste is just wicked.

@JonGarrett: Another compulsive worrier in regards to character math? I feel your pain there, because I am very similar.

Math isn't my strong point. I word better than I number. Sometimes.

...not really.

I actually got into online RP to try and get better at writing and such. It sorta worked. I'm really, really good at writing lots, but spelling, grammar and sentence structure are not always great. But apparently, some folks enjoy my writing, when my editor isn't busy. Hitting me. In the head.

But yeah, especially when a game has this many good applications, I tend to get paranoid and begin to check and re-check. Since it's unlikely I'll ever be in another level 12 Gestalt game that accepts so much 3rd Party goodness I really wanna get Rani in, and I'd hate the deciding factor to be Math. I got that B+ for a reason, darn it! Character creation.

I was actually thinking of a later version of the character, since I had a private plot where she became an NPC before appearing in other games and doing some stuff in Tarov's old game. XD

@Teiidae: I try to interject humor into things occasionally. Sometimes it backfires and sometimes it makes me "that girl who's just weird", but that's my thing.

I would rule that Oracles would lose access to their Mystery and everything surrounding it and that is what would be replaced. Because the swap is more extensive than just Domains or Animal Companions, there would have to be some limiting factors to prevent making your character too flexible. Perhaps you don't get to pick the Revelations, even if the deity is willing to grant power from his divine portfolio? It would fit thematically since you pray for the deity's blessings, but the deity is free to grant whatever they feel is a blessing. It would also bring up a recurring theme in religions with Chosen Ones: the mysterious blessing that the main character questions until it suddenly becomes useful.

@gyrfalcon: I believe that rule interaction with Extracts can work. The two individual effects of that interaction are not mutually-exclusive, per se, since they alter different components of how Extracts work. One prevents you from targeting other creatures, but one allows you to condense personal Extracts into a shareable form. So assume yes.

@Josh.Ingle: In a planar game, theatrics are the name of the game. Mysterious prophets, remorseful antiheroes, over-the-top Mary Sue heroes, madcap agents of rainbow-colored chaos, and that one poor, clueless sod in over his head are all overblown theatrical tropes, but they have their place in planar games. Look at the old Planescape setting, or even Paizo's own planar setting, and you'll find tropes galore.

So his mother wanted only the best for him? The plot thickens and I sense the hints of a tragic past all her own.

@JonGarrett: Understandable. I sometimes type stream-of-thought and, after looking at it, I wonder how I could make some of the mistakes I do. If it counts for anything, I'm a fan of your character.

I wouldn't worry as much about numerical mistakes. We all make mistakes in stat-blocks and no one should realistically fault you for a few numbers being off, considering all of the components of a high-level character. I might let you know a number or three is off, but I won't let it drag down your character when it comes to making my decision.

@Rednal: So... magical girl teacher/herald shenanigans? I can honestly and unironically say that I do not hate it and might actually love the concept. That might say a lot about me.

I feel like Eirian is more of the magical girl teacher? XD At least, she has magic and she teaches. ...And blows up targets as demonstrations to explain why pupils should listen to her.

Though not as much of one as a Magical Girl/Sparkle Princess would be. That'd be kind of scary. XD

Yeah I can work with that, and if it fits within the setting then that's a bonus. Btw I forgot to ask, do you treat psionics vs magic? Do you treat them as the same thing just from a different source?

Avatar of the Source wrote:

Eh, thank you. I'm glad you like it, even if I don't see how important are those changes myself xD

@GM: Indeed. I can't help but try to infuse a bit of real psychology into my people, along with the theatre tropes. And one of the first things you learn about abusive individuals is that they themselves were often the victims of abuse.

@Rednal: So more of a Nanoha style magical girl, got it. Do you befriend people with explosions too? XD

She's not depicted as a soulless instrument of Law and I like that she has more depth to her personality than her concept would suggest.

Great Mind is on page 81-83. I am theorizing that for this campaign any "+1 level of existing class" features via Prestigious will either not apply, or apply to a multiclass side of the pseduo-stalt up to the HD of the character? And thank you! I really dislike the idea of "Lawful ____" as a "follow the letter of the law too strictly to recognize the spirit". While there are indeed people like that, people have too much depth to be pigeonholed that way; I see no reason RP-ing a character should be any different. I usually avoid Lawful characters, but in this case there were so many reasons to explore it - race, class, concept, background, maneuvers, story hooks - that I decided to jump off the deep end.

I've also decided I really like the Trinity Knight / Angel prestige classes, so I may work up an alternate character just to see those mechanics move.

@YorickRequium Azuriel is a LN Judow, and mechanically breaks down as Warder 1 & Harbinger 11 / Vizier 12, Mythic Path of the Genius with the Fiendish Hero mythic archetype. I'll keep working on the formatting - Dynalist is wonderful for creating a character, not so much for stat blocks. As opposed to Evernote, which has no way to collapse lists so my organizational process creates huge documents mostly organized by my memory.

A question for the crowd (and maybe Rednal especially): Are there any akashic traits for +2 veilweaver level, up to HD? I have not found any, and it would be relevant for a Trinity Knight/Angel...

I'm not aware of any feats or traits meeting that criteria, but it probably wouldn't be horribly out of line to homebrew that as long as it only applies to things like the strength of effects (and not early access to powers, amount of essence you hold, et cetera).

@Josh: Nanoha isn't a magical girl, she's a Gundam. 8D ...But I imagine being able to explode things at-will is pretty good for convincing people to *not* fight you...

Armor/weapon attunement confuses me.

Am I able to buy +3 worth of special abilities, *and* have a +2 weapon(for a total of +5?) or is that not possible?

By the RAW on the SRD for attunement, you can only have up to +5 total, ever; and any enhancements that are plusses, not straight gold, count against your attunement. You also lose out if you have a class feature that upgrades weapon/armor. There is also a blog post that expands the system to +10 total, but gets way more complex.

Earlier up-thread, Radiant Mercy clarified that for this campaign we can stack the plusses from attunement with class based bonuses, and can purchase bonus plusses without it counting against our attunement amount, up to the normal +10 total. You could therefore have a +2 keen weapon when your total attunement is only +2; this is a houserule that fixes my major issues with the ABP, and I was very happy to see it. This also makes your single weapon, or split weapon with higher level ABP, a bit less expensive to add plusses to.

Pretty sure Joe is done. GM, is using a placeholder alias alright for the submission?

On a more general note, I think Boxcar Joe may be the least mechanically complicated character without a single spell or especially supernatural class ability to his name.

What is the firearm situation?

Very, very interested! I'm writing up a backstory for a Tiefling Monk/Ninja/Cleric – a whip-wielding bounty hunter of sorts. To this end, I have a couple of questions:
1) are the characters new Wardens or have they been around for a while?
2) my assumption is that characters have to either sail to the City of Seven Seraphs, or use portals? Can we assume that portals are more common than one would normally think?
3) for the backstory to affect the story, do the NPCs have to be in the city? Or can they be from wherever the character originates?

I'm not ready to join this game, but as one of the contributors to this project on kickstarter, very happy for you and just wish you a great game! :)

@DM you say "No score can be higher than 30 after all modifiers are in place at this stage in the game."

I just wanted to clarify: I think Clara's INT (which controls a bunch of things for her, from DCs to splash damage) will be 26...but I was considering Greater Cognatogen (1 hour to brew, lasts 120 minutes, grants +6 INT & +4 WIS, penalizes -2 STR & DEX, take 2 STR & DEX Damage after it wears off). That would end up with me having a 32 whenever it's active.

If you'd rather I avoid the Greater version for now, just let me know. (I may not end up with a mutagen at all as I'm considering the Tinker archetype, which trades it away for a Clockwork Familiar).

EDIT:

Another Q: does anyone know of any content that reduces the crafting cost of potions? Clara *needs* to be a potion crafter, for fluff's sake...but it galls me that the cost/use of a *crafted* potion (25 * spell level * CL) is 66% more than the cost/use of a retail wand (15 * spell level * CL).

(I don't think Paizo would create that, but know the world of 3P content is wild and wacky, and know there's an amazing depth of info about 3P content on this thread, so figured I'd ask yall)

Alright Aqguazula is all finished, now with personality and appearance(s).

@Gyr: That is 100% on purpose. Potions are easy for anyone to use, including no requirement for UMD, but have a lowish level cap. Wands require you to buy in bulk *and* be either a specific class or invest skill points. The cost per use helps balance it out. XD I think there's a Wizard school that reduces crafting costs, though.

Druidic Herbalism is the best way to get potions. No contest.

Josh.Ingle wrote:

Woah!! I'd never seen that, and it puts Alchemists to shame:

- Casting stat / day potions that are FREE to create, last forever, and can be sold
- Additional potions created after that cost 1/2 as much to craft
- By L7, potions only take 1 min to create.

Essentially, a Druid with 26 WIS can take a month and create 240 potions (at their full CL), for free (taking only 1 min a day / potion) to carry around with them, or to sell. Especially as a divine prepared caster (who "knows" every Druid spell), that seems amazing.

Honestly, I'm amazed that Paizo created that at all, and more amazed that they gave it to Druids without giving a way for their iconic potion-brewing class to get it.

@DM The above is a Paizo option for druids to trade their Animal Companion for. As a Spheres Scholar, I have several means to gain an Animal Companion. Would you be OK with houseruling for me to gain that ability in place of an ability that grants me a Companion? Or even a toned down version of it? (If we adapted it straight, I think we'd just sub Alchemist formulae known for Druid spell list, and use INT instead of WIS).

EDIT
Unrelated, but while I'm here....Oooooh I'm having fun writing Clara's "10 Minute" background. I've been playing in Golarion for a while, and I think it's a fun setting...but Clara gives me a chance to revisit Greyhawk (and with it, Vecna, his Hand and Eye, and the infamous Gnomelord of Blemu).

Something like this...?

Caladrel:

Tall and ever-so-slender, with pointed ears and wide, almond-shaped eyes, the graceful Caladrel could easily pass for an elf from afar. In fact, his high-born Elven kinsmen once forgave, albeit reluctantly, the dark hue of his skin and his red irises, assuming them to be the unfortunate vestiges of some long-forgotten Drow heritage. But his small tusks, which appeared only when he reached adulthood, and his devilish allure speak to a far more sinister origin: Caladrel is the offspring of a high-born Elven Priestess of Calistria and a hellish Asura who impersonated her husband on a fateful night.

As such, Caladrel has always been torn between his peaceful and caring nature, and his more violent and chaotic instincts. Even as a child, long before the truth of his birth was revealed to him, he was prone to fits of rage and destruction. But he was quick and smart; he was kind-hearted; and he was preternaturally lucky. The Elders – and his proud mother among them – saw in him great potential, and he was recruited into the priesthood of Calistria at an early age. The Elders figured that the discipline of the faith would suit him. And it did… For a while.

An apt fighter, he was assigned to the militant arm of the church where he would, in time, be called upon to guard Calistria’s temples. Among the monks and priests of the church, Caladrel was happy. But his happiness would be short-lived. When his true heritage revealed itself and proved impossible to conceal, the young man was dubbed an abomination and expelled. He confronted his mother who confessed that she had always guessed at his tainted blood, always somehow knew that he was different. Furious and vindictive, Caladrel turned away from his kin and vowed that he would one day avenge his dishonour.

His heart heavy, Caladrel left Kyonin. He traveled far and wide, eventually sailing far across the Arcadian Ocean until he reached Kasai, the capital of the Minkai Empire. There, ever the outsider, he found his place in the low districts across the Hebigawa River. There, he found a new home and, more importantly, a master who would teach him the art of war and the mysterious ways of the ninja.

He became the finest of assassins, but was forever at odds with what was expected from him by the yakuza, his new family. He lived a debauched life of luxury and leisure, which eventually proved so unfulfilling that even his lust-filled bacchanals failed to fill the void inside him. There was a part of him that relished in bloodshed, but in his heart and soul, he hated what he had become. It became too much to bear, and he simply walked away. But you don’t simply walk away from the yakuza. You run.

This is how he came to the City of the Seven Seraphs where he has turned a new leaf and committed himself to a better life.

Goals
1. Get revenge on the priests of Calistria who cast him out.
2. Atone for the sins of his past in Kyonin and avoid bloodshed inasmuch as possible.
3. Gain respect and honour in the City of the Seven Seraphs.

Secrets
1. Despite his intent to lead a better life, Caladrel moonlights as a vigilante known simply as the Snake who enacts retribution against those who have wronged those he deems worthy. This is how Caladrel assuages the bloodlust of his darker half.
2. Caladrel’s mother took her own life when he turned away from her. (unknown)
3. Powerful Yakuza from Kyonin have pursued him to the City of the Seven Seraphs and have likely not yet acted only because he is a Warden and, thus, rarely alone. (unknown)

Friends and foes
1. Caladrel has a friend in the Church of Calistria who tells him about the faithful and righteous of have been wrong.
2. A high-ranking officer in the local police has decided to hunt down the Snake, arguing that he is nothing more than a murderer.
3. His mother’s husband blames him for her death and has vowed to get revenge.

Given that other people seem to be using them, I’ll use my temp to submit Boxcar Joe.

So without further ado.

Presenting Boxcar Joe, hobo, philosopher and improvised weapon master!

In the interest of making everyone's lives a little funnier, might I submit for Boxcar Joe's consideration Sissy Slap Style, along with both the Slap Fight and Rival Slap Style feats that go with it?

Your slaps can force a Will save to prevent your target from engaging in a slap fight with you, and your unarmed strikes count as improvised weapons for Catch Off Guard.

Heh, that's an interesting style, especially where you force someone to get the benefits of the feat. I can't say I've ever seen an ability like that. I'm not sure if I have the feats to spare for it, but I certainly like that imagery of Joe slapping people with enough intent that they have to focus on him.

Unrelated note, I suppose I should roll for my Telesma personality.

1d20 ⇒ 20

Looks like I got World Weary. Not a bad theme, considering Joe's background.

If all else fails, we have Martial Flexibility to fall back on, either for slap style itself or for some of your current feats that you feel could be situational. I just laughed myself silly for a few minutes after finding it for the first time, a couple days ago, and thought it worth sharing.

You're right! If I wanted to, I could gain the entire style tree using martial flexibility. If I decide the moment calls for slapping, I can get it as a swift action. Step 1, slap-fighting. Step 2, ???. Step 3, profit!

Anybody else officially a part of a Parity? My PC will be a member of the Sanguine Sovereignty.

@Radiant,

What rank may we start at within a Parity?

@Rednal: The basic idea behind Sparkle Princesses is pretty gruesome when you really look at it, isn't it? Look at some of those abilities.

All that talk of teaching people with explosions reminded me, for whatever reason, of Megumin from KonoSuba.

@Teiidae: Magic and psionics are considered separate.

@Josh.Ingle: As much as I love my unrealistic fantasy tropes, realism is certainly something I can appreciate.

@River of Sticks: Great Mind is fine for Prestigious. Level/HD is the cap on one's 'base' casting/manifesting level based on actual level. So no 30th level manifesting.

I have played Shin Megami Tensei games and absolutely had the characterization of Law in most of them. I am a very orderly person in real life and recognize that order is necessary for everything to function properly. Misconstructions of order in media is far too overplayed and it bleeds into how so many people characterize lawful characters, so it is nice to see a lawful character who is more realistic.

There is no Trait that gives a +2 to Veilweaver Level up to HD for the purposes of effect strength, but I will allow one since similar things exist for both casting and manifesting. Name it Supernal Weaver and make a note of (GM-Made) beside of it in your statblock should you choose to use it.

@Monkeygod: River of Sticks was spot-on in his breakdown of how it works stacking enhancements.

If you start in a Parity, you are at the bottom of the rung with ranks. Some of the later ranks have some juicy benefits that it would not be fair just giving away.

@Simeon: Placeholder aliases are fine as long as you transfer if selected.

Boxcar Joe was an interesting read! I like how he is so normal in Hyraeatan that his antics seem all the more alien, given how the city holds gods, angels, demons, archmages, and even a Great Old One.

@Slyness: Firearms are considered at the maximum development level. That means that not only are Revolvers and other advanced firearms available, but they are much cheaper. The reason for this in-game is because Hyraeatan is connected to all worlds and realities through the Lattice and that includes more modern worlds like World War 2 Earth. I think my Golarion-to-Earth year comparisons and the time since Reign of Winter means that, canonically, Earth is into the early years of World War 2, but I could be wrong.

@Alias ad Tempus: 1. The characters can be veteran Wardens or newbloods. Wardens are killed in the line of action sometimes and some groups of Wardens break apart for other reasons.

2.Portals are the most common way to get into the City of Seven Seraphs. Voidships, walking the Lattice, and high-level teleportation magic are all also means to reach the city.

Interesting character! Do you have an idea on the build yet?

@‘Eκάτη: Thank you! Should you change your mind, the recruitment is open to you.

@gyrfalcon: My ruling on ability scores is that, disregarding temporary effects, one's stats can only reach 30. That means stats will only reach roughly 36 with a major buff from a Mutagen, Rage, or what have you.

I would be fine with substituting an Animal Companion option for Druidic Herbalism since that is what it replaces. Make the appropriate changes from Druid Spells to Alchemist Formulae and swap the ability score from WIS to INT.

Oh, yeah. They're described in the class itself as "battle-hardened she-warriors from the lollipop forest from Hell". Also a riff on Mary Sues. ...Gonzo is a silly series. XD

Honestly I just can't get over the fact that they're in the same book as Chimney Sweeps.

He's a striker/debuffer/controller of sorts. Against the right opponent, he should prove quite brutal!

Now I realized, last night, that I completely forgot to take alignment into consideration! Calistria is CN and, obviously, monks have to be Lawful. Now, is it possible to envision a Lawful cleric of Calistria? Or a Neutral monk? If not, I will need to change the character's religion, and potentially the entire story, given that the whip is an integral part of the build!

Just a reminder for folks looking at the Gestalt and Prestigious HOP feats:

You only gain the class features of the class or PrC, not the spellcasting/manifesting/etc. Also bear in mind that you gain said features at half your level(in this case 6) for Gestalt and half your (HD minus 5) for Prestigious.

In order to gain the casting benefits of a class or PrC, you would need to take Magic User, which Radiant has banned.

...we can select Horribly Overpowered Feats?!?!

Hullo all! Been lurking this campaign for a week or two now, and I think I'm finally comfortable with a character idea I want to implement. I'd just like to ask about one possible class to finalize the build before I submit, to maximize the flavor and versatility.

I'm a -biiiiig- fan of the Nightblade class from Ascension games, I really feel like there's nothing else that can fit the shadow-caster hybrid niche the way it does. I could theoretically get a similar effect from Shadow Oracle or Sorcerer, but that doesn't quite mesh as well with the lore and flavor behind the character: His shadow itself is meant to play a -significant- role in his playstyle and behavior, to really give the sense of his shadow being an independent force.

https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/3rd-party-classes/ascension-games-llc/nigh tblade/ - The class, for reference.

I've already made a sheet for him assuming the class is approved, but if there are any concerns I can easily adjust it!

@Alias: *Some* HOP's in place of Mythic Path Abilities. Not all of them. The most overpowered ones, probably not. XD But I grabbed one to let me make concentration checks easier.

Note that Gestalt has already been banned further up thread, along with Magic User.

Well aware, but since Radiant made the comment about Great Mind and manifesting, I wanted to remind everyone that you don't get spellcasting /manifesting via Gestalt or Prestigious.
