This would've been a dream come true when I was still single and on the army base during weekdays. As it stands now, married, working and with an active social life. I can't really make the one month cut with anything I'd be really happy with.
I wish you all the best with such a wonderful campaign concept!

![]() |

Okay, so I was wrong about Keen and other +X special abilities, but I see no reason why stuff like Glamered wouldn't work. It doesn't cost an enhancement bonus to add it, so I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to slap it on any specific armor and just pay the armor cost.
Also, I've been thinking about my character, and I'm probably gonna swap his second class from Vitalist to Inquisitor in order to be more versatile and have better action economy. The Inquisitor has always been one of my favorite classes and I figure while the Sentinel is gangbusters in combat, the Inquisitor side will help keep my character more useful outside of combat.

I am going to be offline tomorrow, just so everyone knows. I am taking my mother so she can get a proper diagnosis on her TMJ and the ride is going to take almost an hour one-way, to say nothing about how long the waiting room will likely take.
@Josh.Ingle: In cases where a class ability also gives bonuses to weapons, it stacks with Automatic Bonus Progression. Same thing if PCs find a magic weapon in-game. There is still the cap of +10 total enhancement bonus on non-artifacts to consider though.
That is some interesting theory-crafting with that sniper build. The situations that it could be fully utilized would be scarce, but it is a very neat idea. The idea of a Warden perching atop one of the skyscraper-like buildings in Hyraeatan and picking off members of a gang of daemonic soul-snatchers while the party is engaged with them below is iconic.
Some divinations would be able to give bearings, I would say. Not those that give 'yes/no' answers, but the higher divinations that provide actual answers would.
@Seranov: It's clear that Seize the Opportunity was not designed to work with mythic, so I'm opting for a RAI ruling on that.
Your Psicrystal can also be your Telesma. Use whichever mental score array is higher when determining it's stats.
@Simeon: I don't see a problem with Boxcar Joe and the concept behind him. I used to play Planescape back in AD&D and am used to oddball characters because of that.
@Rednal: That picture really takes on a different meaning if you look at the snow as radioactive fallout. Was that the intention? Or just me looking too much into it? Regardless, it's a great concept and I like what you did with her.
@Monkeygod: Some of the campaign will take place in Hyraeatan, while other parts of it will take place on a variety of planes.
@Teiidae: I don't see a problem with Racial Exemplar. I will allow it.
@ElegantlyWasted: Personal pre-game crafting only.
Which trait gives Exotic Weapon Proficiency? I am not opposed to it, but I can't recall the trait. I never played PFS, so that could be why, given that you say it's a Lantern Lodge-exclusive.
No need to roll HP. I forgot to note it in the recruitment, but everyone is treated as rolling the maximum on their HP for every HD they have.
Since my pseudostalt rules are giving characters a much larger skill pool, they are not getting the extra points from the Background Skills subsystem. I would rule that they can take the specific skills from that subsystem themselves though if they want the fluff of having incredibly specific knowledge or what have you.
@River of Sticks: Dig as deeply into 3PP as you like. My list of pre-approved 3PP work should show that I am more amenable to it than most.
In this game, weapons can reach the full +10 total enhancement bonus, with the usual cap of +5 on straight bonuses. Artifacts can go higher, but those probably won't come into play for several more levels.
Enhancements that cost gold are kosher, you just need to subtract the gold as normal.
@Viondar: I understand. I wish you all the best as well!

Rednal |

You know, I hadn't thought about the radioactive fallout idea in the picture... but it's not necessarily wrong. XD She does occasionally explode and irradiate the immediate vicinity. I've actually been pondering trying to tweak her a little and add in more weather effects to sort of intentionally play up the whole "nuclear fallout" bit. Glad to hear you like the concept, though!

![]() |

Yeah, I've already dropped Seize the Opportunity with the goal of not trying to optimize to the hilt, and since I've swapped to Inquisitor I will just have a regular Telesma now. I've actually got all of my character's mechanical stuff worked out, and it's hopefully much more fair and reasonable, now it's just time to start on adapting his fluff to fit the setting.
Thinking that maybe he's been forcibly yoinked out of his previous mission/plane and unceremoniously deposited in Hyraeatan for reasons he can't explain. When he finds himself in a strange place with no easy way to get back where he came from, he'll try to find a way to bide his time and gather information: something that becoming a Warden can provide. Rough, yeah, but it's a start.

River of Sticks |

@Radiant Mercy: Good luck on your mother's diagnosis and safe travels! When you get a chance, can you confirm whether the Harbinger Omenwalker teleportation would work with the Dimensional Agility line of feats, and whether the Harbinger ability to cause claimed creatures to be shaken will interact with game effects that normally work when using intimidate to demoralize (specifically Mark of the Grinning Skull, Cavelier Order of Vengeance, and the Telesma Psychically Agressive ability?)
Edit: Also, would you consider the Four Horsemen Mythic Archetypes? They are archetypes that trade out some of the actual Mythic sub type abilities like a regular archetype would.

Radiant Mercy |

@Seranov: The only real problem with that backstory element is that most major worlds have already been mapped because of the Lattice. Your character would have to be from a very isolated plane for that to work.
@River of Sticks: Thank you for the kind words.
Pretty much any kind of teleportation works with the Dimensional Agility line in my games.
If an ability specifically functions when using Intimidate to demoralize, then other effects that grant comparable effects do not trigger the ability in question.
All of the Four Horsemen Mythic Archetypes are allowed except for Undying Hero. That one gives far too much at 1st tier to living characters.

@GM- Here is a link to a PDF that lists the trait; https://missouripfs.weebly.com/uploads/1/3/7/6/13760094/_lantern_lodge_pamp hlet_-_az.pdf
Here is the relevant text; Weapon Style: You gain proficiency with one weapon that has the monk special weapon quality (see page 145 of the Core Rulebook).
And understood, thank you for the reply!
I hope all goes well with your mother.
Out of curiosity is the 'Radiant Mercy' alias a reference to the Stormlight Archives series?

Josh.Ingle |

Have you ever had an idea while you were already making an idea? Have you ever liked that idea a lot more?
Because I looked at the Gonzo classes to see what this Atomic Adept was all about and Phantom Thief looks like so much fun! Specifically, Retroactive Theft looks absolutely silly.
Enemy gunslinger: *goes to draw gun, draws nothing*
Me, holding gun: "Looking for this?"

Rednal |

Yeah, Gonzo has a lot of fun stuff. XD It's definitely worth a look on the wiki if you haven't gone through it before. I actually considered a Phantom Thief myself, but after some mulling about, I thought it would be more effective in a live game where you can react to stuff much better and really go all-in on it, so I settled on Atomic Adept instead.
Also, I tweaked Eirian's build a bit to get rid of some things I didn't really need and add a few more useful magic talents.

Rednal |

Because Yidhra told me to. Also because it's still like a week and a half until I can even start adding the Co7S content to the wiki, so I can't point anyone at too much of the in-book content.
The henshin transformations are amusing - so is the Sparkle Princess, for that matter, and don't let the cutesy name fool you - but I like powers that I can rely on all day. XD Though, admittedly, that's less of a problem in gestalt.

Jereru |

Question for you guys:
The character I am building has a very strong solar fluff, being an Aasimar descended from a solar and using all kinds of solar things. Do any of you know a way to make his bow shoot arrows that resemble sun rays or something like it? Would be super cool. The Brilliant Energy magic property is the closest I've found up till now, but it's a bit over the budget.

Oceanshieldwolf |

Not looking to play, but am definitely a shill for Forest Guardian Press classes - the link takes you to d20PFSRD and links to the Direlock and Savage.
I now return you to your plane-hopping continuum...

Josh.Ingle |

@Jereru Solar Wind maneuvers from Path of War are a good fit for what you're asking.
Edit: One of the stances even lets you make arrows out of light. Two feats to get to it with the martial training line.
Son of Edit: If you wanna keep some Brilliant Energy Arrows in your pocket for reasons, remember, the ammunition is cheaper but expendable: +640GP/Arrow. Maybe keep a couple as gifts from your Solar ancestor, to be used when the hour is desperate.
Grandson of Edit: Or you could join me in making a Henshin Hero! Signature Weapons make their own ammo and there are both Radiance and Saint Motifs.

Oceanshieldwolf |

@oceanshieldwolf: did you make the savage? I've always found that class to be a really interesting Hybrid.
Sure did. It's linked HERE if you are asking

Jereru |

@Josh.Ingle: Yeah! Solar Wind! How come I haven't thought about it? The character's bow is actually named like that. That's a good option, thank you. On the other hand, I will definitely have a look at those Henshin Heros you talk about. Is there a place where these rules can be consulted?
@Rednal: Well, mostly the basic idea is a swift autobuffing Warpriest. I've been trying to play this character for years and never got lucky. The other part of the Gestalt is a bit more free. I was looking for full BAB guys with nice saves, mostly, and Paladin was in my mind because it also fitted the "I'm a feckin' angel" fluff. Also I'm a big fan of Spheres. But, as I say, I'm open as to what to choose for second class. You got any idea in mind?

Oceanshieldwolf |

@Jereru: The Spheres of Power wiki has all the Gonzo classes, including Henshin Hero HERE

Josh.Ingle |

Guys.
Guys.
Stop making me want to play the damn Green Ranger :P
[palpatine]Do it.[/palpatine]
Go, go Power Rangers!
But seriously I'm down for a dynamic duo if you are.

ElegantlyWasted |

I can’t lie, I am sorely tempted. However, I’m pretty invested in my current character. If your concept would work with it, though, I’m down for character links still. He’s going to be a sort of Asian Epic film themed character (think Hero, House or Flying Daggers, that sort) with influences from settings like Legend of the Five Rings and Jade Empire.
On that note, I have a query for people more familiar with 3pp than I am. First of all, should I be using SoM and if so, why? Second, does anyone have any recommendations for material for me to look over to create a wire fighting Kung fu master?

Rednal |

If you like martial combat, you should seriously consider using Spheres of Might. The short version is that it allows you to build a custom fighting style - usually by reducing your number of attacks but adding various rider effects. So, less pure damage - though Vital Strike helps - but more movement and debuffs. It also makes a lot of combat maneuvers far more viable. The Boxing, Brute, Open Hand, and Wrestling spheres are all good for unarmed, martial arts-style characters.

Slyness |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Spheres of Might is a solid yes. It has both versatility and customization. Because most abilities rely on the attack action over iterative attacks, mobility is greater. Certain spheres even give free skill points.
For a monk-type, consider the Striker. With Unarmored Training, you can have a really high AC. The Open Hand sphere is also a good place to start for spheres.
For your sorcerer side, check out Dual-Blooded Sorcerer. If you do a Shadowed Fist Striker, you can even skip the Empyrial bloodline.

ElegantlyWasted |

Is the mobility greater? An UnMonk with Flying Kick gets 40 feet of movement while making 5 attacks, 3 at his highest BAB. Does Striker get more mobile than that?
And just because it’s difficult to convey tone over text I want to make it perfectly clear that this is in no way combative or argumentative, I’m a total noob with Spheres so I’m trying to get a handle for it :P
I’ll check out that sorcerer stuff... I had also considered Eldritch Godling

Slyness |

What Rednal said.
The Striker has Speed Step: The striker can spend a swift action to move up to her speed with whatever methods of moment she possesses. Combine that with Blink Step: The striker can use her speed step tension technique as a free action.
You can also have a fly speed from Eagle’s Path: Your fly speed increases to become equal to your base speed, and your maneuverability improved to (average).
Another fun thing about SoM is that multiple abilities can trigger off the attack action. It also has neat combos like:
Sweeping Kick: Whenever you make a successful unarmed strike against a creature using the attack action, you may make a trip attempt against that creature with a -2 penalty as an immediate action that doesn’t provoke an attack of opportunity.
Snap Kick: Whenever you succeed on a trip combat maneuver against a creature, they provoke an attack of opportunity from you (you can choose to wait until the creature is prone before resolving this attack of opportunity), this attack of opportunity considers “whenever a creature lands prone” and “whenever you succeed on a trip combat maneuver” to be part of the same trigger, and you can not take more than one attack of opportunity due to this circumstance. If your attack of opportunity is successful, the creature must make a successful Reflex save or become staggered until the end of their next turn.

I'd like to know more about the Eternal Dawning. How could I? I think it fits the PC's background perfectly.
Here are a few bullet points from the book, since I'm iffy on copy-pasting too much.
- The Eternal Dawning is a crusade from the Prime Worlds.
- They are NG as an organization. They're fairly new to 7 Seraphs, only having arrived really a few centuries ago.
- They value unity, virtue, balance between aspects of the self (mind, body, soul).
- They strive to bring light to darkness, and want to balance Hyraeatan in the wake of the Lightbringers' betrayal. They want to heal the lattice from the Aldran Apocalypse and other planar catastrophes
- They also strive to bring the Eight Virtues to the citizens of Hyraeatan who struggle to attain them. (Discipline, Honor, Justice, Mercy, Valor, Passion, Unity, Selflessness)
- Members are expected to choose a particular Virtue to try and embody.
- They find other civilizations suffering from plagues, corruption, curses, or sin, and try to offer a hand and accept those who seek a better life. They pretty consistently adopt species and cultures.
The Eternal Dawn comes with a Cavalier Archetype called the Jeweled Knight that can focus on Justice or Passion, plus a new Cavalier Order, and two Prestige Classes:
- A Trinity Knight is a martial class that seems geared to using Path of War or Spheres of Might,
- A Trinity Angel is a martial class, that is more based around having chakra / veil abilities, and includes having an "angelic" form that incorporates your veils with a magical armour form thing.
Both Prestige classes continue to give you class features of previous classes, as well.
Hopefully something in here helps, but let me know if you have more specific questions and I can try to dig around!

Oh, yes, quite helpful, thanks!
I also found some little info here.
With all you've told me, I think I am properly directed towards the right way. I'm very curious about these PrCs, but since I won't have access to them I'll build what I had in mind and adapt later on (with the hopes that those thing SoM related will appear in the Spheres Wiki - they're announced by the 29th).
Thank you all again, you guys have been super helpful, as always. I hope we all meet in Hyraeatan!
