Mythic Horrifically Overpowered Feats are not allowed until Mythic Tier 5. At that point, you can select one that is subject to approval as a replacement for your 5th tier Path Ability. That isn't going to be until later down the road though.

Got it, thank you! For Prestigious the one I was looking at was Animus Adept, though depending on whether we need to qualify as normal for the prestige class there may be others I would look at. I assume that we do, even though the text does not say so, because reading it otherwise breaks my immersion too much...

If I took Favored (Shadow Weaver), the Judow FCB is +1/6 of a Silhoutte. Assuming that taking that 6 times would bestow a silhoutte despite not having that class feature, how long would you rule the duration is on Long Shadow? (City of Seven Seraphs, page 436)?

Interesting. I'm quite enamored with things derived from Lovecraft's work, so this should prove a good read.

For combining Psicrystal and Telesma, use the higher stat when it comes to ability scores, give it both sets of abilities, and it gets the free archetype.

Don't feel bad, my old Paladin was barely literate and his celestial rhinoceros mount was smarter than him. Thumper tried to not flaunt it too much to poor Sir Daveros.

Yeah I enjoy the mythos and alot of the expanded material is very good, The Tale of Satampra Zeiros and Ithaqua stand out to me.

Don't worry, I won't be too sad for now, I'll eventually be smarter than it or we'll match. Although could be an interesting concept.

Perfect, I'll decide which one. Maybe I'll take both eventually. The prestige class I was planning on taking it with was the Xoc Utal from Kobold Press' Advanced Races Compendium.

@Monkeygod: Are you asking if you or I can create relatives for the purposes of your Mythic Path?

@River of Sticks: Animus Adept is fine for Prestigious. As per Prestigious, you do not have to meet the prerequisites.

For the purposes of Silhouette and how it interacts with Favored, I would rule that the effect lasts indefinitely or, rather, as long as you choose it to since there is no listed duration that I can see.

@Teiidae: Those are great tales. The Horror of Innsmouth, most of the Dreamlands stories, and the King in Yellow are my personal favorites. Not all of them are by Lovecraft, per se, but many of my favorites were at least by his contemporaries that helped build onto the overarching Mythos.

Xoc Utal is fine for Prestigious. I am curious how you are going to work around your Shark Companion's aquatic nature, but it should prove interesting.

Telesma Personality Roll: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Artistic.

Alright, I guess I can learn a craft. Maybe Traps.

This is what Mythic Paths of the Lost Spheres says about Blood Relations:

Blood-Relation - Each Scion of-High-Sorcery path ability may make reference to an effect requiring or a target designated as a “Blood-Relation”; that is any creature that carries a biological or heritage based link to the Scion. Work with your GM to get a sense of who or what is a blood-relation to the scion. Generally any spontaneous arcane caster with a biogical tie to your character is likely to be a legal target. Some campaigns might also include creatures linked to your bloodline as well.

While I won't actually be taking levels in Sorcerer, I plan on taking the draconic bloodline via Mystic Inheritance for the Godling.

Also, I feel like the Scion of High Sorcery path fits the theme of both the Morori families as well as Sorin having a line/clan of vampires in the MtG lore.

This looks like all kinds of fun!!

A few Qs:
1. What gods are we using?
2. Is there a gnome variant around that gives +2 to INT? (Perhaps a Tinker Gnome conversion?)

I want to revive a beloved gnomish alchemist, Clarabibulus Flingflopsparkfizz.

Thumbnail of Background (to be modified and expanded):
The Flingflopsparkfizz clan got their illustrious name in a bygone era when great-great-great-grandpoppa Umbilicus first brewed the Ultimate Fizzy Drink. Umbilicus was bold and clever, and family lore tells that he once adventured side-by-side with Garl Glittergold himself, but the most glowing stories always return to his fabled fizzypops. There's some debate in the family as to whether the Ultimate Fizzy Drink was best enjoyed as a beverage or thrown at one's foes, but all agree that it was zesty, uplifting, and very very fizzy.

Tragically, the original recipe for the Ultimate Fizzy Drink was lost during the bleak days when the Gnomelord of Blemu commanded the hand of Vecna. Since then the Flingflopsparkfizz clan has worked frenetically -- but fruitlessly -- to try to replicate it. Clarabibulus believes that her own father has gone about his Life Quest all wrong: staying at home, trying recipe after recipe. Great-grandpoppa Umbilicus had adventured beside the Sparkling Wit himself, and had clearly found interesting ingredients to add to his soda pop in the wild reaches not only of Greyhawk but across myriad Planes of existence.

Clarabibulus vowed with a fizzy passion to succeed where previous generations have fallen flat. She's on a quest across the stars to discover the legendary missing ingredients and create a new recipe to brew the Ultimate Fizzy Drink.

Okay, let's have a look. Does anyone have a link or anything to these HO feats? I hope Radiant has banned all the silly ones.

Nevermind, I think I found some of them.

I guess if Physical Paragon is kosher, so should be Mental Paragon as well. Both feats state "if you take it at 1st level...". Since we don't, shall we ignore the "cut your point buy by half" thing? putting all 18's on one side and spreading 40 points in the other seems rather crazy, or?

Edit: I won't take the feat anyway. After consideration, I would find it hard to justify having had all 10s in either physical or mental attributes for most of Gabriel's life, up till when he got Mythic. Makes no sense.

Edit 2: Does anyone of you guys know a way to get Fire Resistance that's not an item? Weirdly, it's the only one that Aasimars don't get, and it would fit the background well.

@Monkeygod: I knew how it works. I was nonplussed as to what you were asking, but it's now clear to me now. Want to discuss this here or through the inbox?

@gyrfalcon: 1. You can use basically any god printed in a Pathfinder or D&D 3.5 book. Creation consists of multiple multiverses and each has it's own set of gods. Some are recurring elements, such as Asmodeus, a version of which seems to be in almost every Great Wheel's version of Hell.

2. I would be fine with working with you on a Tinker Gnome conversion. I have a soft spot for them and I will admit to being biased, seeing as how I mained a Gnome Holy Priest in World of Warcraft for years and one of my favorite characters in Pathfinder was a Gnome Paladin.

Clara looks amazing so far even with that small framework.

@Jereru: The Physical Paragon and Mental Paragon HOFs ignore the cutting the point buy in half stipulation since it is not gained at level one. I am not really concerned about someone having a near-perfect (i.e. base of 18) array of ability scores. Having all good ability scores is vastly less broken than having one or two pumped to extreme limits.

I wouldn't worry too much about including the feat in your backstory.

There are several ways to get Fire Resistance without items. There are archetypes, classes, a handful of feats, and what have you. Do you have any idea what particular way you are looking to acquire said resistance?

@gyrfalcon: When in doubt, follow me. \o wo/ I want to try this ultimate fizzy drink.

The idea is getting Fire Resistance because all his connections with a Solar and the Sun, but not with an item because that wouldn't be genetic or divinely inherited.

Aasimar can get Resist Fire 5 as an alternate power, replacing the Daylight SLA. Of course, that involves just picking what you want from a random table in Blood of Angels instead of rolling for it, but fire resistance on aasimar is a thing.

Mythic eldritch heritage and pick solar bloodline.

Aasimar also have access to Angelic Flesh. If you take the Brazen option you get fire resit 5 and +2 bonus to saves vs fire.

Also legendary games made mythic versions of the aasimar racial feats, they're decent.

GM, what’re your thoughts on switching a Pulse feat for a normal feat or something similar? There aren’t a ton that Joe qualify for, and the ones he does don’t suit him too well.

Teiidae wrote:

Would be nice to have a look. Sadly, I only work with what I can find in the web, since I can't afford to buy any books.

@Rednal: it's a nice option, specially since I don't need the Daylight SLA because I can do that with the Light Sphere. Too bad I would need to roll very good (and that's if I'm allowed to roll).

@Monkeygod: I seemed to have skipped that, thank you. Building such a character without any generator sometimes turns up a bit overwhelming.

Wait, is there a Solar Bloodline? I need that! I'm sure it's totally bullshit, but worth having a look...

Solar bloodline!

There's also a Solar mystery for the Oracle.

@Simeon: You cannot swap out a Pulse Feat for regular one. But, since you are getting it for free, you do not have to meet the prerequisites unless another Pulse Feat is listed. Not specifying that was an error on my part, sad to say.

@DM: Thanks, I'm glad you like Clara! She's been very fun to play in the past.

Thanks as well for the offer to make a tinker conversion work. Simplest might be to just go with the Paizo gnome, but changing the ability modifiers to +2 DEX, +2 INT, -2 STR. I think there are enough racial options to make the rest work. If you (or others) want to suggest something grander, that works too!

And as for @Yidhra, it's hard to imagine how one can re-perfect the Ultimate Fizzy Drink without a bit of paradox thrown in, eh? ;-)

BTW...I noticed you (Rednal, not Yidhra) saying something earlier about getting material up on the Spheres of Power wiki. How much of that is your work? I'm super grateful for it, and it's led me to really appreciate the Spheres materials, so THANKS for whatever your role is on it!

Speaking of which....I've built Clara as an alchemist before and might do so again, but it occurs to me that the Scholar class gives me much of what I'd want (as long as my Flashbangs are understood to be fizzy drinks that I've shaken up and tossed) in a fun, new way. Thinking about 2nd class options that give me:
- ways to buff (and possibly also to debuff and control) via alchemical creations
- mechanics that reflect her constant experimentation

Thoughts or suggestions from others as to how to capture those are welcome!

I've never read the Wild Magic rules before but thinking now of perhaps using them to reflect unpredictable effects. Perhaps a Thaumaturge (Wild Mage) with an

@DM: As I understand it, Wild Magic typically affects the caster. Would it be reasonable for alchemical buffs for it to affect the recipient of the buff instead? (I want to share the fun around!)

I'm the Admin and the only staff member of the SoP Wiki - so I upload and format all the stuff, though it's mostly other people that actually write the stuff. Really, a lot of it's just copy and paste. XD I didn't get a response back when I asked about using the official names, though, so I'm gonna have to rename the parities and such for hosting on the wiki... but you can expect to see the mechanics from the book available there starting tomorrow. (Not all of them - big books take time - but a start.)

Wild Magic in Spheres is fantastic for randomness. It's a pretty even split between positive, negative, and weird effects. Maybe don't try to trigger major events, though.

Red,

Check your PMs.

@ Radiant Mercy: I just realized I need to check an assumption I made. If we want MORE than the bonus Pulse feat from char gen, can we take them with regular feats from 10th on, assuming we meet the pre-reqs?

Thanks for the response. The ability to ignore most prerequisites, specifically the Luck domain for Extreme Luck, is quite nice.

OK, Rani is about done I think. Other than maybe using Spoiler Tags to put away some of the abilities...

Rani is a support character - with 1/2 BAB and Bard-equivalent casting she's not the most powerful character ever. Her main abilities are buffing allies with a Morale bonus to saves, a +2 to one Stat (which I assume will follow the same rules and not allow you to go over 30 in one score), and of course a Title Veil which each player can select. And some Time and Healing magic, just for fun.

Rani has a surprising amount of wealth, thanks to the Heir Apparent side of her build - she has about three times as much cash as everyone else in the application thread, as far as I can tell - most of which have gone into tattoos, which give her...more weird abilities than you can shake a stick at, really. A lot of what was left has gone into fun stuff.

In terms of Offense, Rani uses Riven Darts - 7 of them right now, each of which does 7d4+5 Force damage and 1d6+3 fire, before the use of various Stances. The downside is that she can only fire 2 at a single person. She's never going to be the most dangerous person on a level 12 gestalt team, but she can contribute. She's also quite tough to get rid of.

And finally, Rani has lots and lots of skills and solid social skills.

I'm quite pleased with how Rani has turned out, and she's certainly unusual. Hopefully, everyone else enjoys her too.

Oh, if we can ignore normal requirements for Pulse feats, I'm picking Surge. Because, you know, Speed of Light.

I really like your character, and it made me take a closer look at the Rajah - it is a much more interesting class than I originally thought! One thing I did notice though - Shape Veil does not give you an additional veil shaped, so you would have 5 total veils available, not 5+Riven Darts.

It's interesting to me that I will be using Path of War and Akasha as well, even some of the same disciplines, but very different characters and play styles. Looking forward to this! (And hoping to be picked for the game, of course.)

I'm Basically done just finishing up my mythic path, I only have one question for the Dm. I'm taking dual path Herald and Living saint, not sure which will be my main path. In Midgard Player guide they mention that the living saint could be used for oracles or paladins, I was just curious on how you would adjust it for oracles? Worst case scenario I'll pick the Herald Mythic path to be my main path.

Thank you for both the compliment and the head's up, I'll edit that in a minute.

It is really interesting that two characters using the same things can end up being so different. And yeah, the Rajah was one of those classes I really enjoyed as soon as I read it. Now it's Payday I'll be picking up the PDF later.

How close does Spheres of Power get to the equivalent of an Alchemist's Infusions (where the spell gets infused into an extract earlier in the day, and then the *user* of the buff can drink it on their turn, as their action?

I see "Special Delivery" as an Enhancement-specific drawback...but even that's not quite right, as the time starts ticking as soon as the extract/lozenge is created. Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks!

The Essentialist Alchemist archetype has an option that allows you to imbue consumables with Enhancement effects (as the Life Sphere's Water of Life ability).

3 people marked this as a favorite.

First chunk of content is up on the Wiki. Still a ways to go, but if anyone here doesn't have the book, it's a start. XD

Rednal - the hero we deserve.

When I grow up I wanna be like you, Rednal :)

"And we give it back to you...the people"-Rednal

Uh, is there a common language all the inhabitants of Hyraeatan use to talk among themselves?

Looking over the PDF, it doesn't specify an exact language is used, but it's implied Common for those who can speak it and racial and planar languages otherwise. It does note that it's rare for any species to be more than 5% of the population in any district, so physiology alone may prevent a true common tongue. You probably won't go wrong with Common, Celestial, or Infernal.

Thx Rednal :)

Man, Trinity Angel looks fun. Too bad it'd be way too complicated to try and make half of Tarov some kind of strange cluster of like four classes, on top of the fact that I basically have no idea how Veilweaving works.

*Mutters* Hearing about Tarov makes me want to try making Kariel as an alternate submission...

It took considerably longer than I expected it might, but i've finally finished my submission. Zika is a Veryx with the Starseed and Vitalist classes. Part healer, part psychic combatant, part giant goddamn spider.

A second question for @Radiant Mercy: I just read through the Great Mind Prestige class from Co7S and really like it, especially how it complements knowledgeable characters. Would that one be ok for the Prestigious Horrifically Overpowered Feat? Also, how do aligned classes / +1 level of existing class features in prestige classes work when taken with the Prestigious feat?

EDIT: Here is the character crunch so far. I am experimenting with Dynalist, so there may be some hiccups. Azuriel

@Radiant Mercy: Alright, I've been doing some reading and the Trinity Angel REALLY sounds like a cool prestige class. Would it be okay for me to swap out the Inquisitor side of my psuedogestalt for a wonkier combo using it? I understand if you don't want that kind of goofiness in this gestalt game.

Trinity Angel scheme:
The current combination I am thinking of is Aegis 1/Dwarven Scholar Bard 1/Radiant 3/Trinity Angel 7, which should have lots of toys for support and some Bard casting + veilweaving on top of Aegis shenanigans.

If not, I have a question about Sentinel's Wise Reflexes and Inquisitor's Cunning Initiative and whether or not they can stack. Cunning Reflexes adds my Wisdom modifier to my Dexterity modifier for Initiative, and Wise Reflexes replaces the Dexterity modifier with the Wisdom modifier. I am pretty confident they would not stack, since you're not supposed to get a stat to a thing more than once, but I'd like your opinion on that.

Regardless of your answers, I am already really excited to get a chance to play Tarov (regardless of his classes) and I will gladly abide by whatever you decide!

Gabriel, Sol Invictus has undergone some changes and adjustments.

Aqguazula, just need to write in the fluff which is taking longer than I would of imagined it would.

I really can't imagine that one being allowed, for the same reason Mystic Theurge is typically banned in Gestalt. Allowing one half of your Gestalt to power up three classes, even if you don't get them all every level (and get it's own powers) while another class is levelling up on the other side is...whoa.

Clarabibulus Flingflopsparkfizz is coming along nicely. She'll be a (Spheres) Scholar / Alchemist, with a wide range of fizzy drinks that can heal, buff, and of course blow things up.

I've never done this sort of pseudogestalt before, but I'm liking it. With 'standard' gestalt, I often feel like I'd better come up with two classes that fill out gaps in each other's chassis, such that I get all good saves, etc. I like that that's not possible here, and it strengthens my desire to use the second class to round out all of what Clara can do with fizzy drinks, rather than to *also* make her a martial powerhouse or whatnot.

@DM One Q: what are your thoughts about ABP Weapon Attunement for someone whose weapons are single-use (alchemist) bombs, and (scholar) flashbangs and improved alchemical formulae? I'm 100% fine with the answer being "it doesn't help at all"...but figured I'd ask, since it's hard to imagine her attuning with anything but those.

It only took forever and a day, but here we go. One fully built character, down to a fully managed inventory.

Meet Cedric Slate, former Red Mantis Assassin and hopefully future Warden. Because "Leave your home universe to come and defend planar stability across all of the universes" is exactly the kind of thing he'd love to hear.

EDIT: Appearance and Personality done now, too! All set :)

I definitely agree, it's kind of silly. But it never hurts to ask! Sentinel/Inquisitor is already a super good combination and I am not at all going to have an issue if Radiant Mercy says no.

Seranov, I was glad to see you building a Sentinel. It seems like a great class. I've built one for another game, but haven't gotten to play it in combat yet.

I decided to keep Clara squishier in part based on reading Tarov and realizing that she'll be in good hands (and that is fun to have limitations and not all be equally invulnerable).
