I'm looking to run a PbP and was thinking of a visit to Darkmoon Vale. I'd be looking for players who would try to post once a day, so that we could build up enough of a pace to keep everyone interested.
4-6 players, first level, High Fantasy point buy.

Any interest? Any questions?

I've been considering running this series for my in person group, but I'd be happy to play through it here first.

I'm very interested!
Several years ago I started this module series. We only made it a few session before it ended, But I really liked it. I think the Darkmoon Vale modules don't get the attention they deserve.
Another player and I had linked characters, identical twins. Mine was a bard. She was a bright-eyed idealist coming to organize the timber workers against the Lumber Consortium, a Woody Guthrie type "Wobblie". Her (minutes older) sister is the more practical of the two, a fighter who's coming along to make sure her sister doesn't get into too much trouble.
I'd love to revive that idea for this. But a couple of questions first I suppose.
@ Tarren: Would you accept linked applications?
@ Applicants: If you're planning on submitting a martial character, would you be interested in playing the sibling? Although the original idea was identical twins, fraternal twin or just sibling of either gender would work.

I have been checking in on a 3 year old campaign i was part of every so often, but maybe this is my chance to finally move on? If so i would be very happy to play a de-leveled version of my simpleton brawler Odd'n. 1 post per day is easy to meet, and i didnt get to flesh out Odd'n as much as i hoped, so maybe this is his chance to be reborn anew.

I'm happy to answer questions about Darkmoon Vale. The PathfinderWiki gives you a start.
Character inspiration:
- Dwarves interested in the ruins and ancestral claims or Dwarves from the Five Kingdoms;
- Elves could be from Kyonin
- If you're a lumberjack, you're okay; there's lots of work with the Consortium;
- It's rural and away from the capital ... perhaps you're getting away or trying to get away ...
- Cheliax is nearby, so devilish bloodlines and such could come from there
- Taldor on the other side, so nobles out to make a name for themselves
It sounds like there's significant interest.

Play-by-posts can be slower than other groups. You might find yourself catching up with the story. Something to consider.

A bright-eyed idealist getting in trouble with the Lumber Consortium could be fun.

Would Odd'n be the type to take a job cutting down trees? Because, he might fit right in.

Oh, absolutely! In fact.. the last pbp ended with odd'n running away from a sensually awkward encounter with some female clerics and off a cliff in a forest-- perhaps he was found by the loggers and nursed back to health to do their grunt work? The head wound received from the fall surely left poor Odd'n an amnesiac (hence level 1), but the young man is surely eager to make his new found 'friends' happy with his physical capabilities (chomping, ripping and smashing his way through brush and tree trunk alike.. no axe required).

I'd been looking at this recruitment but had no idea what sort of character I'd want to play...and then you post this! High Guardian, a fighter archetype from Heroes of the High Court, has a bodyguard feel to it (and as an added bonus, it was designed by our mutual acquaintance, motteditor). I'd enjoy giving such a character a try.
EDIT: I generally can't post on Sundays or holidays, though, so that may disqualify me.

Not necessarily. Would you post or check regularly otherwise? I've found with PbP games, if there isn't a certain frequency of posting, people lose interest. I want to maintain a certain pace.

Interested.
Since those are the old 3.5e rules and pathfinder has had significant power creep since then, ware you planning on implementing any changes or rules tweaks to compensate?
I've toyed with running the five-module series but I'd either up the difficulty or play the later ones down a level.
What are your favorite house rules?

I'll certainly up the challenge level and adapt encounters, particularly if we have more than 4 players.
I tend to play by RAW.

Hiya Prof Smith! That fighter archetype sounds pretty cool. I'll PM you as soon as I can to talk more about the idea.
@Aki-Kiri: Thanks for the offer, I took a look at your character and I really liked it. I think though that a pair of linked applications for two mostly support classes might be a harder sell for a limited number of slots. I hope you get accepted to the game, (as well as us of course). I'd really love to see a Spiritualist in action, it's a hard class for me to get my head around and I'd like to see how it works.
@Tarren: For what it's worth I can vouch for Prof. Smith's posting reliability. We've been playing together in another campaign for a couple of years now and Prof Smith has never held things up for failure to post.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Well, I count at least 8 possibly interested. That's more than enough.
Who is seriously interested, knowing that the adventures will be adapting Hollow's Last Hope and then continue with Crown of the Kobold King? I will be adding in some hints of other content that would develop further if the group survives the Crown of the Kobold King.
The characters will start at level 1 and probably be level 2 before starting Crown of the Kobold King.
To show your interest, please propose a character name, race, class and a reason for being on the road to Falcon's Hollow, a town wholly owned by the Lumber Consortium.

Ammon Knight of Ragathiel |

Scipio le Valiere Neutral Good
half elf
Bard
As a traveling merchant, he's here in attempt to find a way to discreetly weaken the consortium. As he feels they as a whole need to be destroyed. He's a good guy, kind and helpful, but cunning and all too willing to do whatever it takes to take down those who abuse power or the weak.
He's a little known figure that has taken the title the Prince of Thieves
i'm interested either way, but definitely more so if it continues to Crown of the Kobold King

Odd'n Bloodied-Boulder |

Odd'n Bloodied-Boulder, human unarmed buffoon.. i mean idiot.. i mean fighter..
Human adopted by orcs, raised in the wilds early on before life threw him into the fighting pits and then led him to a short lived adventuring group he subsequently lost track of when he decided to run from female attention and off a cliff-- the fall leaving him with some short term amnesia and diminished mental capacities.
Having been found by some woodsmen en route to their forest camp, Odd'n adopted their demeaning insult 'bloody stump' as a sur name and blindly followed the crew ever eager to repay his saviors. Whether blinded by gratitude or concussion, Odd'n regressed in his previous personal growth and found himself once again a lacky to others.

Yes, I'm the other sister.
Name: Hendrina "Hennie" Verkirk
Race Human
Class: Spirit Guide Oracle with the Succor Mystery.
I switched from bard to oracle but the general concept is the same. Hennie is going to Falcon's Hollow to unite the common people in pushing back against their exploitation by the Lumber Consortium.

Odd'n Bloodied-Boulder |

Curious how you would us like to determine starting cash; roll or average?
I think Odd'n is equipped with all he needs (20gp hide shirt, 2gp gauntlets x2, 0gp tattered nobles outfit), the woodsmen having stolen all else and dressed him up in the throw away nobles outfit in mockery. Odd'n is likely to use survival as often as possible to get along via foraging so hopefully wont need rations, fish hooks, oil, etc. overly much unless the 'half overland speed' thing is a bothersome burden for everyone else of course.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

For starting wealth, let's use this table. This is a little bit higher than average but lets the fighters get their armor. Things are expensive in Falcon's Hollow as the Lumber Consortium holds the leases on the properties in the town, so a little extra cash won't hurt.
Alchemist 136 gp
Barbarian 136 gp
Bard 136 gp
Cavalier 227 gp
Cleric 182 gp
Druid 91 gp
Fighter 227 gp
Gunslinger 227 gp
Inquisitor 182 gp
Magus 182 gp
Monk 46 gp
Ninja 182 gp
Oracle 136 gp
Paladin 227 gp
Ranger 227 gp
Rogue 182 gp
Samurai 136 gp
Sorcerer 91 gp
Summoner 91 gp
Witch 136 gp
Wizard 91 gp

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

The characters proposed so far are:
Trom Deoch--dwarf wizard
Hendrina "Hennie" Verkirk--Human Spirit Guide Oracle with the Succor Mystery.
Livlena Verkirk--Human; Fighter (Tactician?)
Scipio le Valiere--half elf; Bard
Gimble Strapfellow--halfling unchained* rogue
Odd'n--human fighter
*I'm not as familiar with 'unchained' rogues, but I read up and it sounds reasonable.
This seems like a good number to start a PbP with. The characters also sound like they could be a fun mix and could have some interesting dialogue.
When I create the gameplay thread, the first thing I'm going to ask you to do is roll a Perception check. And, then someone will be coming along and asking you what you're doing on the road to Falcon's Hollow.

Odd'n Bloodied-Boulder |

Odd'n hasnt really been collecting pay, however his overlords have recognized he does need food and general equipment to survive :P i will list both raw and inflated costs (i shall assume a 30% increase in price)
Common backpack - 2g (2g 6s)
Trail rations x7 - 30s (3g 9s)
Bedroll + winterblanket - 6s (6s 3c)
Torch x2 - 2c (2c)
Hemp rope (50ft)- 1g (1g 3s)
Waterskin x2- 2g (2g 6s)
Flint & steel - 1g (1g 3s)
Grappling hook - 1g (1g 3s)
Hide shirt x1 - 20gp (26g)
Gauntlet x2 - 4g (5g 1s)
Sling x1 - 0 (1s)
Sling bullets x20 - 2s (2s 6c)

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Head to the gameplay thread when you've finished your character and make a Heal check and/or a Perception check to show you're ready to start playing.
I like to keep the pace up, by giving people something to do, so, if you haven't finished your character, don't worry, the story won't get away from you. PbP's move too slowly for that.
[ d i c e = P e r c e p t i o n ] 1 d 2 0 + 3; 1 d 6 + 2 [ / d i c e] <-- use the built-in dice feature to make those checks, please.
