Odd'n & his past:

Abandoned in the wilderness at a young age he was taken in by a rather reclusive orc family ( Heart of the Wilderness ). It was with them he grew through his early formative years, picking up a few fighting and survival skills that remain with him today through the occasional bullying he received from his adoptive family (it isn't usual a lone human baby would even be taken in, nevermind treated well) and occasional hunting trip they brought him along on ( Survival, Boar Style ). Interestingly, the family often allowed Odd'n time alone to craft them snares for game trails; something his nimble little fingers could achieve much better than theirs ( Craft; Traps ). After a particularly rough tussle with the youngest of this adoptive family the parents cruelly decided to subject Odd'n to a tribal tradition-- sharpening his teeth into points so they may be better used as weapons ( Mothers Teeth ). While this was seen as an honour in the tribe this family originated from they knew this would leave the human scarred for life.. an outcast amongst his own people as well as theirs. Shortly after this Odd'n left.. running scared from the only people he had ever known his small life.

Coming across a trade route he was quickly picked up by an enterprising gentleman, but it was unfortunate for Odd'n that this individual happened to be a slave master travelling between towns. Having been kicked out of the last one for running pit-fights (to the death), the slave master was moving on to the next to offer his brand of entertainment to those sick enough to find amusement in it. Odd'n, after living with orcs for his full life, could only communicate with the man in grunts and gestures but it didn't take a sharp eye to notice his ferocity, strength, and teeth. By the age of 13 Odd'n was the slave masters favoured fighter. Often thrown into the pits with nothing but the rags on his back he learned to win at any cost. Thankfully the bits he picked up from his early family helped.. it was not uncommon for Odd'n to shred flesh with his hands as well as his teeth ( Heavy Handed ).

Over the years he continued to fight, learning 'common' from the crowds that cheered and jeered him for what he was-- an outcast and a slave. Never knowing where he was or where he was going next he lived in the moment. Unbeknownst to his owner, Odd'n had been collecting and hiding a few coins from each match. Thrown into the arena from those that appreciated his ferocity he would pick them up while humbly bowing to his master after the fights ( Sleight of Hand ).

Having gathered what seemed to be a sizable quantity of coin he seized the opportunity one night to escape. As his master was escorting him from the arena back to his cage-carriage to travel on to the next town he seized the moment. Wrapping his arms around his master he wrestled him to the floor and, thinking about the years of abuse.. all the blood.. the pain, he ripped out his masters throat before running off into the nearby alleys to forge a life of his own.

Finally free of his shackles Odd'n seeked out all that he had missed growing up; friends, food, religion; but was always treated as a second rate citizen for his appearance (and to those that recognized him-- his past). One night while he was settling into a small lean-to behind a church to Milani he heard the priests through the windows above. This isn't to bad.. he thought to himself as he fell asleep, their hymns soothing his mind as he drifted off.

When he awoke he knew something had changed in him.. he felt refreshed.. renewed. And a name stuck out in his mind-- Milani. A picture of a rose rising out of ashes. He wasn't sure what it meant but he knew things were going to be different. Walking into the street he mingled through the crowds, no longer ashamed of his appearance or his past-- he was going to forge a future for himself.. one he could be proud of.

Personality:

Odd'n (pronounced as close to 'odd one' as his adoptive orc parents could) is a quiet, introverted individual. His rough past and left him somewhat untrusting of strangers, but his recent visions have encouraged him to be more open. Unfortunately his teeth have left him with a frightful grimace in place of a smile, so he is loath to open his mouth without good reason. His primary drive is making himself more than his past might suggest he can be and he wants to be helpful to those suffering as he did. Thus, he will not abide any abuse of servants or slavery, and will always be willing to help others even at his own expense.

While many assume him an idiot, due in part to his 'grimace' and lack of social skills, Odd'n is moderately intelligent. His lack of a formal education makes him unwise in the ways of the world and so he is susceptible to suggestion and lies as long as they align with his beliefs. While this might lead him into some troublesome situations with local authorities he is keen enough to catch on that he has crossed a line.. eventually... (and hopefully not too late!).

Quiet, reserved, and seeking to aide others; Odd'n is not quick to anger but when he does he quickly reverts to his pit-fighting past and won't stop until those he sees as 'evil' are dead or is otherwise restrained. He enjoys getting up-close with his combatants, using his hands and teeth to rip and tear.. a brutal end for those he deems brutal people..
