So... does anyone remember what the tiles we found in here looked like?
Kulga Gruenakslag |
... No?
Intelligence check to remember, GM?

To save people the trouble of checking, the link to the original tile picture no longer works. Once you had left the area, I turned off link sharing as that is the closest I could come to taking the handout back from the players.
Garduk the Unteachable |
OK, folks, with just over an hour to go, I have put my best guess at the moment in the slide. Unless one of you has a better idea - or unless Garduk is allowed to make an intelligence check for assistance as Kulga suggested - I don't think I'm going to be able to come up with anything better.
GM - if we run out the clock before I have the chance to post again, please use the arrangement of tiles currently showing as Garduk's answer.

I know mechanically it makes sense to have a bow, but I just can't bring myself to own one from a thematic standpoint. I have a few Spells that work at range but it's useless if the enemy is not humanoid or if they don't speak the same language! But I'm hoping that it'll be better one level up as I'll have range attack as Spells by then.

Spells run out much faster than arrows, bolts or sling bullets. This is especially true for specials.
If you don’t want a bow, there are other options that can help. Potions of fly, javelins, slings. Even having a way to buff or protect the ranged combatants is better than nothing.
You are at the level where you are expected to have a method of dealing with flying creatures.
Brayne |
Thanks for the tips! Yeah, after 2 years of PBP, my characters are just hitting at that level range. Learning the hard way to make sure I have potions of fly ready!
Kulga Gruenakslag |
Actually, I've got a spare sling... if you're interested.
Garduk the Unteachable |
OK, it's midnight and I'm finally finishing up with work for the day. I'll try to catch up before I faceplant on the keyboard, otherwise in the morning, which is coming up very quickly now.
Brayne |
Brayne? Use a sling? He would not! lol. But thanks for the offer. This half-orc carries no weapons as a testimony to his belief in his ability to elevate himself using magicks. On a side note, casting from scrolls/wands like Garduk does seem promising, so I might look into that as well. Expect Brayne to carrying some attack scrolls on top of the restorative / consecrate ones he has!
Garduk the Unteachable |
I assume we can’t actually see the demon while it’s in the pit, right?
Garduk the Unteachable |
Brayne, could you give Chandrabha a tap with a CLW wand? She’s badly wounded.
GM Bret |
So, are you going to try and retrieve the book or move on?
You only have limited time for exploration on your way back.
Garduk the Unteachable |

Brayne |
Dear friends, In an hour I'll be making my start to a very long commute to my relocation to the United States! I will likely have difficulty in posting but will try to get connected to the Airport Wifi during my long transits! I expect to be fully back to normal in 30 hours or so.
If botting is required, Brayne prefers to attack the enemy with a full round attack if the opportunity arises. (including raging and free action to grow claws)

Safe travels, Brayne.
GM Bret |
It didn't make much of a difference, since where he was, she would only have gotten to Wolfgang in two moves (if move around). And so it was at least a chance to get down there and prevent him not only with words. And in any case, on the next turn she will normally reach our shooter (correct me, but it seems to me that to leave such a zone, being on its edge does not require checks).
You had a -3 Acrobatics, so your chance of failing was significant. Yes, you can step out of grease without issue.
I believe the whip allows you to take an AoO, please correct me if that is wrong. I don’t have any characters that use a whip so there is a reasonable chance I am overlooking some rule here.
Now it is true that Wolfgang could have come around the other direction, but I don’t see a path where he could have done it in one move.
Thus the retcon of your characters movements.
Chandrabha |
No AoO without special feats, that’s the problem. Her best tactic to prevent him shooting is ready actions, but she must be at 10-15’ and have a standard action. Or be much more closer and grapple him :)
From that position I couldn’t do nothing significant in 1 round.
GM Bret |
...and that closes the special.
I most likely will not have an opportunity to do the chronicle sheets until tomorrow. I have an SFS game that I am running live tonight which I want to better prepare for.
This group did their part in getting the special to Unrivaled Accomplishment. This gives you two boons from the districts that you visited.
Foes of the Forge Father (Monument District): Extensive wall carvings document the dwarves' struggle against their ancestral enemies, and having read the atrocities committed by giants, goblins, and orcs, you have dedicated yourself to defeating them. You gain a +2 bonus on attack rolls made to confirm critical hits against humanoids with the giant, goblin, or orc subtype, and you deal additional damage equal to your weapon's critical hit modifier when you score a successful critical hit against such a foe; this additional damage is added to the final total, and is not multiplied by the critical hit modifier itself.
Shrine Savior (Temple District): Thanks to your efforts, the shrines of Jormurdun are better understood and cleansed of evil influence. You may use this boon to reduce the Prestige Point cost of a spellcasting service by 2 (minimum 0 Prestige Points). When you use this boon, cross it off your Chronicle sheet.
Sight of the Unseeing (Seer's District): You exposure to Jormurdun's prophecies and ancient cults has given you exceptional insight into future events. You gain a +1 insight bonus to AC and on saving throws when flat-footed or during a surprise round. You may cross this boon off your Chronicle sheet before rolling attack roll, initiative check, ability check, skill check, or saving throw to add 1d6 to the result. Alternatively, you may cross this boon off your Chronicle sheet before rolling d% as part of a divination spell (such as augury, divination, or contact other plane) to either add or subtract 1d6 from the result.
Just tell me which one you don’t want of those three and I will cross it off your chronicle.
By the way, having saved the dwarven clerics in the past from those demons prevented the haunt from ever happening. You destroyed a haunt!
I hope everyone had fun!
Chandrabha |
Well. Haven't had a chance to beat my friends :)) I'd show how good I am, ooh!
I'm kidding ;)
-
About boons - the first one I don’t need. I can never remember this kind of bonus when I am in anticipation of the upcoming critical hit! )
-
Thank you for a wonderful game, GM Bret! I really liked the high rate at which you responded to messages. As a player I always knew that my posts would be processed quickly and the dynamics of the game would be maintained. I will be very happy to play at your table again.
-
And many thanks to all the players, all the characters had very vivid images! Real pleasure.
Garduk the Unteachable |
Thank you for running a great game, GM Bret! I agree with Chandrabha - you were incredibly responsive and really kept the pace moving. Thank you for all of your effort and time, and thanks to my fellow players for fun RP and for keeping Garduk in one piece. I’d happy play with any of you again, or at your table.
Garduk does not need Foes of the Forge Father.
Kulga Gruenakslag |
Absolutely! Love me a quick efficient GM (especially in a timed special).
Hopefully Grumbly Kulga was fun too - I finally got her inside a Sky Citadel!
Thanks for running, Bret, and thanks to everyone else for the group!
I'll go ahead and skip Shrine Savior
Brayne |
Sky citadel was really exciting! And a first for me, if there are other scenarios with one.
Brayne will forgo sight of the unseeing!
Thanks GM and players for a great game!
Wolfgang Strabe |
Thanks to GM Bret for a great game and everyone else too!
As for the boons, Wolfgang will skip Shrine Savior boon.
Thanks again!
Garduk the Unteachable |
Thanks, GM Bret - my chronicle looks good.
