Park Song
I'm on vacation and won't be able to post as regularly. Will be back home Sunday.
GM of the Crown
Doing some unexpected traveling over the next two days, posting will most likely be slow until Wednesday evening.
Sorry for the delay!
Zhandar
The only spell in the book that I think is actually valuable to Zhandar is dispel magic-- assuming it isn't cursed somehow-- but she can't actually cast it until level 7.
Park Song
Hmm.... And I was thinking that maybe if I rip out Magic Missile and Summon Monster that maybe the ghost wouldn't be able to use those spells anymore?
But Park isn't thinking anything like that at all! He wants the ghost to stop fighting to bargain for his book....
Rajuna
Since the ghost has been separated from his physical book for awhile, I don't think he gets his spells from it. I think it is more like a talisman for him. You hurt the book, you hurt him.
With that, I'm taking the GM's statement to mean that ripping out his best spells will NOT hurt him more than the least important ones.
We have a little time here to experiment by tearing the low level spells. Between Zhandar hitting me with the potion and me drinking the CMW she gave me (thanks Zhandar!), Raj is at full HP for the moment. I'll re-engage the baddie and see how much damage I can deliver. And since I have Snake Style up now, I have a pretty good chance to raise my Touch AC even more so hopefully he won't be b!tch-slapping me quite so easily.
So, strategically, I'm in favor of us trying to do some serious damage and bring this guy down.
GM of the Crown
'm taking the GM's statement to mean that ripping out his best spells will NOT hurt him more than the least important ones.
It does provide a benefit, but it is extremely small and not worth it imo, which is why I hinted at starting small.
Rajuna
Thanks!
Question... are all the walls down? I'm trying to figure out if I have a straight 5' move to cozy up to the ghost or if I need to take 10'.
GM of the Crown
All the walls are there, it’s just incorporeal and can move through them. You’ll need to take the 10’.
Rajuna
OK. I guess I took the post here too literally. I thought all of the internal walls fell.
Shoot! I forget we’re in rubble. My 5’ step would have been an actual MOVE action drawing an AoO. That would sort of wreck that last round of actions for me entirely. I couldn't do all that without a 5' step.
I’ll get my post up and then you can re-adjudicate as needed.
Rajuna
Park, Horm's icon hasn't moved... was he stepping into the room (flanking with Park) or was he attacking the ghost from outside the room (the square directly west of Raj)?
Rajuna
I know you may not have the privilege to move him... I was asking where you would have moved him so I can plan my move around him. :)
I have to risk/reward this scene because his AoOs can really hurt.
GM of the Crown
Which spell did you rip out next, Park? Going to assume either mage armor or magic missile, but if you wanted to use up a higher level spell feel free to let me know.
Rajuna
Horm, if you are willing to move up or up and over then I can slide into your spot to flank with Park and add precision damage to my shots. However, that will definitely open you up to an AoO since this is all difficult terrain. Your call.
Park Song
After that hit Park would likely just grab a handful of the next pages and yank as hard as he could. Another hit like that will probably kill him! So, the next spell on the list? Dispel Magic?
Zhandar
Why not go for summon monster iv? ;)
Park Song
Park doesn't use written spells and hasn't really paid much attention to the book. If Rajuna hadn't mentioned ripping up the book he wouldn't have thought of it. He's just grabbing what is easy.
Which spell(s) did you want? I think you'd still have to scribe them to your book.
Zhandar
If you can keep dispel magic and magic missile, that would be great. It's basically saving Zhandar 400 gp once she makes it to level 7. But I totally get Park not caring which pages he rips out.
Park Song
I think this is my last round. That hit took me to 5 HP. If the ghost hits me again and I fail the save.... Que Sera sera!
Park Song
True. But I'm destroying his spellbook! If he survives I'd expect him to either attack me or try to run away.
Character death only bugs me if it's a stupid death. Walking down a hallway and set off a trap that doesn't make any sense....
Park Song
Sucks that it's a long sword though....
GM of the Crown
And just like that, Book 1 is done! Congrats, you're level 4 now!
Remember that the will stipulated that you remain in Ravengro for a full month from the reading of the will, in order to help Kendra get her affairs in order and get things settled for whatever she plans to do next. Her path is open, and you can talk to her to figure out/help her decide what she should do.
We can do a bit of roleplay with the town upon your return, as well as a small timeskip description of what you get up to in the time remaining to you in the town. Let me know if you have any particular questions or plans!
GM of the Crown
Can also recruit another member (or two) to replace Horm, if that's what you want. I'm fine with continuing with you three or finding another, I'll leave it up to the group.
Rajuna
1. WOOT! Love leveling up!
2. I'd be in favor of recruiting again for someone with 'healer' on one side of their gestalt combo. Zhandar is a great switch hitter but I'd like to let her have some fun being more offensive. She was really doing serious healbot duties in that last battle.
Rajuna
GM, I took a couple points of WISDOM damage back there. How does that heal?

I'm down with doing some RP... though I truly have no idea what Raj will get up to. :) Can we sell loot and buy goodies in Ravengro? Or do we have to wait until we get to Lepistadt to do that?
Also, fellow players we should review the loot list and decide what to sell or keep. I guess the good thing about Horm bailing is it a 3 way split now. LOL!
Philosophically, I don't worry too much about the WBL between characters because I think it evens out eventually and most items do benefit the team one way or amother. So if you can put that Ectoplasmic metamagic badge to good use, don't feel like that's the only item you can take because of the value of it.
To make it easier, I added columns for each of us to vote on selling, keeping, or some other option.
Zhandar
I put in my votes for our loot. I think Zhandar should be able to use the badge, though I'm not sure for what yet. (Maybe produce flame, thorn javelin, tar ball, or spit venom? Ooo, or shocking grasp!)
Zhandar's level up gives her the power to turn herself into a humanoid (as alter self) for 1h/level in lieu of wildshape, second level magus spells, the Flight hex, and the ability to prepare her magus spells as concoctions.
Rajuna
Ectoplasmic works on all spells... It could be quite useful to have the ability to Entangle a group of wraiths.
GM of the Crown

Base Value and Purchase Limit: This section lists the community's base value for available magic items in gp. There is a 75% chance that any item of this value or lower can be found for sale in the community with little effort. If an item is not available, a new check to determine if the item has become available can be made in 1 week. A settlement's purchase limit is the most money a shop in the settlement can spend to purchase any single item from the PCs. If the PCs wish to sell an item worth more than a settlement's purchase limit, they'll either need to settle for a lower price, travel to a larger city, or (with the GM's permission) search for a specific buyer in the city with deeper pockets. A settlement's type sets its purchase limit.
Ravengro has a base value of 1,000 gp, meaning any item under 1,000 gp has a 75% chance of being available. It has a purchase limit of 5,000 gp, which means any one item under 5,000 gp can be sold to someone in the town, to a reasonable limit of course.
It also has specific magic items for sale without having to roll: masterwork full plate, +1 light steel shield, +1 silver morningstar, +1 rapier, incense of meditation, dusty rose prism ioun stone, a ring of feather falling, a wand of cat’s grace (13 charges), a wand of cure moderate wounds (19 charges), flesh golem manual, scroll of restoration, and a wand of slow (6 charges).
Rajuna
OK, so we could potentially sell all our gear in Ravengro but buying anything worth more than 1k GP becomes a roll by the GM? And obviously, we'd have better luck finding more powerful gear in Lepistadt.
GM of the Crown
It means that anything above 1k gp isn't available at all unless it's on the list. Anything under 1k is a 75% chance.
I think most of the loot is under 5k (minus the keen longsword I believe, but if you need the cash you can just take the 5k flat for it), so you can find a buyer here for most of the newfound loot without any problem.
Park Song
I agree with recruiting a healer. And I agree with Raj's comment about WBL between the party members. Whatever works to make the party stronger overall increases our chances of surviving!
The wisdom damage will heal over time. Or, Horm can cast lesser restoration which will heal damage.
I think we should do a fourth split, as a party treasury to buy things like wands of CLW. ??
dusty rose prism ioun stone? Assuming cracked? Flawed or normal would be too costly. I'd like that and/or the ring of feather falling if there's enough money? (Unless someone else wants it/them?)
Park would like to claim the mithril +1 dagger. I need a slashing light weapon for my build....
Hmm.... 4th level!?!
Park Song
I've moved a few lines from the list (keeping) over to page 2.
Rajuna, Are you going to keep the stone of alarm?
Rajuna

Thanks for the clarification! Also, the value of the longsword is it's full price value at 8K. It's sale price would normally be 1/2 that amount, well below the 5K limit.
Zhandar
Zhandar can cast feather fall at will because of her Flight hex, so she isn't in the running for buying the ring. :) Also, just for planning purposes, I plan for Zhandar to take Craft Wondrous Item at level 5, so it's more cost-effective to buy things like magic rings or weapons and armor unless we really need something now that she will be able to craft for us later.
Zhandar
Ectoplasmic works on all spells... It could be quite useful to have the ability to Entangle a group of wraiths.
That's a great suggestion! I've been avoiding the various entangle spells because I don't want to limit Park's and Rajuna's mobility. However, if Horm's replacement is also primarily ranged, I can certainly pivot to those spells pretty easily.
Rajuna
I've moved a few lines from the list (keeping) over to page 2.
Rajuna, Are you going to keep the stone of alarm?
The Stone of Alarm could be fun but it is highly situational. I'd look like a genius if the Whispering Way tried to bust into our hotel room with it alarmed... but otherwise, I just look paranoid. :) Given the cash value of it which could be better spent on items that aren't as situational, I'm willing to sell it. Likewise the Rope of Climbing could be useful but it is also situational and I do have a regular rope and grapple... so I'm probably willing to let that go as well unless both of you guys think we should keep it.
I'm OK with doing a 4 way split so we can buy team items. The CMW wand might be worth buying as a team item.
None of the more expensive magic items in town appeals to me, so you guys can haggle over those without me getting in the way. :) My thinking is to save my cash for Lepistadt and hope it is large enough that we've got a higher base % of goods. I'm going to be pretty picky about magical goodies for Raj.
Park Song
The rope of climbing is costly, but it only weighs 3 pounds, is stronger than a regular rope, can move by itself up a wall and attach itself if anything is available to tie on. It is 60' long but will knot itself to make it easier for non-climbers. I vote to keep it and you can get rid of the regular rope and grapple. (Stay light encumbrance!)
GM: Is there any trouble selling the maybe-cursed items from the major haunts? Can't imagine that the bloody book would be worth much, especially after I tore out pages. And how much for the necklace of holy symbols? Price per individual silver holy symbol?
GM of the Crown
-The holy symbols broke apart when you destroyed Father Charlatan's spirit, leaving them as just normal silver holy symbols.
-The handaxe is a normal +1 handaxe.
-The spellbook has its price (1,265 gp) reduced by half of the three spells' scroll costs. Can do the math on that
-The masterwork smith hammer counts as a normal masterwork tool
-The flute is worth 300 gp flat as an art object, but didn't Park want to keep it?
Rajuna
I'm fine with keeping the magic rope. Now I just need to find Raj a Wonder Woman outfit to go with it...
Also, Raj's sheet is updated.
Also, moved more stuff that no one seems to want to the Sell page.
Park Song
Park did want to keep it. Isn't it masterwork? Or was that just as art?
I thought my familiar could teach me how to play.... ;-P

Yeah, it’s masterwork. Sorry about the confusion!
