Well... perhaps. Galt will be very much changed after Cladissa got through with it.

Cwethan wrote:
Also spoilers if necessary, but is the freed Runelord going to be openly out and about in the intervening time?

I think that's up to Thron.

The out and about Runelords status is TBD. It may be the overall BBEG. It may end up an ally. It may not show up at all. Depends on the parties interest and how the campaign develops.

Oh, I think we also deposed the main ruler of Riddleport in Varisia during a side mission.

Oh yeah that happened too. Haha

It's sad that I don't even remember that.

You don't remember? It was after the giants, and we wanted to rebuild Sandpoint, so we paid the pirate lord a whole bunch of money for all the supplies, but he swindled us? Then the other crimelords basically used us to go after him. Which we did, pretty effectively?

Ah, good times. Good times.

I was a little surprised a bunch of PCs had gotten to level 16 without toppling at least one government :-p

Amusingly, it was a very quick "minor" side jaunt. Hardly notably at all...unless you live in Riddleport.

I had added a bit more data regarding Argor’s post-campaign stuff, but looks like Paizo ate it. I’ll add it again as I can. But real quick:

Those of you from the original two games...you guys ARE fine with me using those PC’s as I see fit as NPC’s, right? Even if it goes as far as potentially them being killed?

Not saying that’s what is going to happen. But I’m also not ruling it out either. Just wanted to make sure in advance.

Quick attempt at a rewrite for Argor’s additional stuff based on conversations with Gyrfalcon and Stalwart:

-Argor marries a TBD Blakros. After two years they have a son, then two years later a pair of identical twin daughters. The mother dies in childbirth and refuses a resurrection (reason unknown).

-After a couple years, Argor either A) remarries or B) takes on a lover, an elf. She gives birth to a fourth child of half-elven heritage? (NOTE: this part is optional and pending Gyrfalcon deciding he wants to go this route for his character. If not it doesn’t happen)

-18 years of Argor related stuff happens from the time his wife dies, including him working with Cladissa in Galt. Sometimes it’s by Proxy and Underlings, others it is more direct support of his own. After about ten years of such aid, there is a disagreement between Argor and Cladissa, resulting in her asking him to leave and cut all aid. He does, and the two haven’t spoken in some time.

-Argor’s eldest son, Cain’an, goes missing in the Mwangi Expanse. Argor does not go looking for him because the two had had a falling out. Also, Cain’an had an item made that prevented his detection via divination. In truth, Argor HAD tried to find him, but when his magic failed to turn him up, he ceased trying. But the rest of his family didn’t know this.

-Argor’s 18 year old twin daughters consist of:

A sorceress (CG) whose magic tends to follow enchantments. She is mad that her father hasn’t made more of an effort to find Cain’an, and also blames him for pushing her brother away.

And a traditional wizard (LE) who pretends to dote and adore her father, but in truth resents him and seeks to prove herself his better.

For the PC-NPC question, I feel like Ellie and Lorthan deserve a happy ending. They've already endured so much nonsense.

I'll get back to you on Jeevika; her likelihood of dying should depend on what she ultimately does with herself. If she chases our rogue Runelord across Golarion or starts dabbling with the Old Gods again (old habits die hard), then death is certainly a possibility. If she just retires to a more mundane job and focuses on raising a family? Not so much.

As for who I play, Shion is probably my most obvious option. That said, since Jeevika has now decided to let Vince move on, there's a definitely a good possibility that she tries her hand at another relationship. She is a priestess of Shelyn after all.

Perhaps with... Argor?

They did promise to hang out once the action dies down. Neither individual is particularly committed to anyone at the moment (this would take place before Argor's next wedding). One thing leads to another, and they end up in a brief relationship, which results in a daughter. Jeevika agrees to raise her in Kyonin, but they regularly see Argor.

Incidentally, this Argorian Kailani ends up being the one Argorian offspring who actually likes her father!

Hey CDL, happy to see you chiming in here too!

As Argor alluded to, I'm leaning toward playing a child of Argor's. They'd be an occultist. Still working out if they'd be more gish or caster focused. For that one, having them be Jeeves' kid too is interesting, but I'd think they'd have spend a good bit of time among the Blakros'.

That said, they could've had some significant time in Kyonin too. The reason I was going toward the Argor / Blakros connection is that the occultist's reliance on (and fascination with) resonances from relics seems like a perfect fit for the Blakros' museums.

Honestly, a kid of either of them might not get a lot of their parents' time. Heck, maybe both Jeeves and Argor were too busy to raise this one, who came later than the others, and they were raised more by their big siblings and Blakros aunties and uncles?

Ideas welcome, btw. I'm enjoying this early collaborative brainstorming.

---------

EDIT: To Thron's Q...good question. I think I'm mostly OK with you playing Nyugelle, Gianluca, and Zoli. If there's something you're not sure they'd do, I'd want you to check in first. e.g., I wouldn't want you to establish that Zoli had gotten addicted to Shiver, or became a murderer, without some real conversation.

ALSO: Where are the rest of you with character ideas? I know Jelani is running a roguish son of Zoli's.
Stalwart and CDL, what're yall toying with?
Cwethan, any ideas on your end yet? Or are you still trying to digest the history? (And if the latter...any Qs?)

lol, sorry for not being clearer, gry.

I meant that one of my character ideas was also a child of Argor. In other words, a half (?) sibling to your occultist.

Shion is my other option.

I'm still very undecided.

Though... Elthariel and Lorthan's kid? We'll have to see if they make it through the end of the AP.

I'm open. I might pick someone obscure, like William Lightstaff's kid, or play it straight. I don't know!!

Owner - Gator Games & Hobby

I don't have a lot of thoughts on relationship to a past PC yet (no one's leaping off the page as The Character that I have to be connected to). I think a lot of it's going to come down to which kind(s) of screwed up my character's going to be, and who's the right parent/mentor to do that :-p

Mechanically I'm still all over the place - I've pretty much perpetually got a few brews in the fire, so I'm biding my time to see what will fill any gaps in the party for now.

Cwethan, that's pretty reasonable. Maybe once you have a concept or two you're nearing in on we can help provide thoughts about potential relationships.

CDL, hehehehehe, thanks for explaining--and I'm glad you're on board too. I wasn't sure when I hadn't seen you check in. Any thoughts right now about what Shion (or the other) would grow to be?

Stalwart, I considered the half-dragon or centaur angles (and might still consider them more, if no one else goes there)...but I'm not sure I've got a great concept for either. I'm curious what you're thinking for Lorthan's kid

So, I was thinking about it, and the whole Rogue + summon inquisitor thing feels really weird and also like it needs more focus. So I reworked the character plan a bit, taking out the inquisitor. Instead I'm just going to be the most dextrous dexteritician in the dex verse, and a skill monkey/sneak attacker.

Relink

Also, if anyone builds a melee focused character of some kind and wants to take Precise Strike or some other teamwork feat (outflank?), that would be fun.

Cool. I think you may need an INT of 11+ to use your 1st level extracts.

I wonder if you learned alchemy from Nyugelle?

I am considering possibly playing either:

A) A daughter of Gianluca
B) One of Argor's daughters
C) Ryli's son, a centaur (though...stuff and things)
D) A child of Lorthan and Elthariel (if they survive)

Those are just cursory considerations for now until I get more input later as to what the rest of the old PC's have been up to.

Maybe we should all play children of Lorthan and Elthariel!

No no no, all children of Zoli's!

I was beginning to think everyone was gonna try and be some of Argor's kids. Was making me worry!

While I love the idea of some of the group being siblings, I don't want one previous PC to dominate the story as the direct link to everyone. I wanna see the two groups tales woven together. Like how Argor and Eugeni will be doing some Planeswalker Mercenary work together, for the good of the various Planes, or even the potential relationship between Jeevika and Argor, if that happens.

Something, be it Fate, a common threat, or DM-Fiat, will be causing these two groups to become a blended entity for this campaign. Of course, depending on what you guys each have going on with your characters. All the interconnections don't need to be through Argor, nor do I want them to be.

However, retirement is a perfectly legitimate ending for the older PC's as well. Argor is essentially retired from adventuring and heroics at the time of campaign start, focusing his work on his political life and the direct betterment and defense of Absalom.

I am aware. What first level extracts? I'm a rogue.... (^_~)

But yeah, learning some of the basics of potion making from Nyugelle makes sense. Even though I have monk and alchemist levels and such, it's basically purely for the crunch. I want to file all the flavor off the classes and abilities, and re-flavor them as essentially rogue variants. Thus the lack of extracts, etc. I want him to come off as a rogue who has an alchemist level instead of UMD ranks. He presents to the world as a rogueish knife fighter, not a monk or alchemist of any stripe.

Maybe I'll play Cole with class levels.

He's lost his witch and is now free to be dismissive and sardonic for the next generation!

Oooooo, and I could play Rutai! Lmao!

Pathfinder: Pet Avengers

I call Huk Huk, the tumor mini-bulette!

Lol

I will be the Pokemon trainer.

Olympus-mon! I choose you!

Also just had a good idea for Shalelu’s younger sibling. So many options.

Or, maybe Shalelu's daughter -- who's a crocodile shaman!

It looks like the plans I had for Auronee being a triumphant figure has been rather thwarted. So it'll be interesting to see what would develop if anyone wants to tie their legacy character to her.

Maybe there's room for redemption? Or perhaps a legacy character wants to rise above the disgrace that has befallen her. Hmm.

Owner - Gator Games & Hobby

Okay... Rising above Auronee's disgrace: that a little bit jumps off the page. I'm gonna marinate on that a little, but that might be what tips me over the edge between a few concepts.

Also, I'm going to be continually weirded out by Shally's substantially different life because she was a significant character in a different campaign I played. And she wasn't so... scaly.

But she was beautiful!

... and she got better.

Just had a wonderfully devious idea for the overall arch of the campaign. It will result in some mechanics changes as well as alterations to the very fabric of Golarion!

Oh dear

Mwahahahaha

But in all seriousness: don’t make a one dimensional character if you wanna have a good time here.

Bad Character Examples:

A swordsman who only fights with swords, specifically the one handed down to him.
A caster who relies heavily on one school of magic.
A cleric whose whole reason for being is to serve their one god blindly.

What I mean by the above is:

Your swordsman needs to be a viable character if their sword is stolen.
Your caster needs to be viable if some law is passed banning their school of magic.
Your cleric needs to be viable if they are forbidden from worshipping their god.
Etc.

Those characters are all well and good, but if something possibly bad happens to their main focus, I don’t wanna be hit with “Man why didn’t you warn us that X would be a bad character to play?” This is your warning. Also, because I don’t wanna give spoilers. Hahaha

Also, I want the game to feel real for these characters. And if (insert crazy world changing thing here) happens, it will impact the whole world, but if it is the focus of a PC, it will have a very painful impact there too that needs to be felt and the PC have to realistically adjust. Maybe even retrain a class. Who knows!?!?

Well that's not terrifying at all. Hopefully you don't remove the Dex stat, or outlaw all small blades. As long as I can get a knife I should be fully functional.

Owner - Gator Games & Hobby

As long as we're talking in-universe illegalities as opposed to "Jokes on you - Sorcerers now use Intelligence to cast their spells!" then bring it on :-p

Yeah, strict in universe stuff mostly. Will have some mechanical impacts though.

Thron, you've got me quite curious!

Where the rest of you at with character concepts? I'm still leaning toward playing a child of Argor's. They'd be an occultist. Still considering either a gish or more pure caster build. Either way, they'll have basically grown up in the Blakros museum.

Either build should be fairly flexible. If I go melee/gish, I'll build them as a vanilla occultist (and so using psychic casting), mostly invested in tranmutation and abjuration, with their magic rooted in old relics found in the Blakros Museum.

If I go caster, I'll use the Silksworn archetype (so using regular arcane casting), and will probably be a support caster with a side of blasting. Not many more spells known than the gish build, but trades a lack of front-line stats for a *lot* more spells known, and a handful more Mental Focus points.

Fluff-wise, the Silksworn caster would be handsome, outgoing, charming (with CHA just below INT), and will always be wearing fancy, fashionable clothes. The melee/gish occultist would have be much more comfortable with dusty relics than real people...though would have learned to be a Student of Philosophy (INT to Diplomacy) from his father.

Oh! And if I go with the Silksworn caster, there's a chance that I'll give in to my Deep And Abiding Love Of Gnomes and switch to being a gnome-aasimar child of Gianluca's, instead of being a Blakros. Silksworn as an archetype just seems to me like it *begs* to be played by a gnome. ;-)

At some point I'll pick and develop one or the other, but both are viable, and have a reasonable amount of flexibility.

What're yall thinking now?

(Yes, I know there's no rush, and we probably won't get to this game for months yet. Just curious.)

Okay

I’ve decided to kick this thing off in a little capacity. Will be mostly RP at first to give everyone a chance to get a feel for their characters. So here are the official crunch rules, and let’s get a bit more intent on some fluff stuff for each other!

Level 5, monstrous races/templates/etc can be discussed with me to see where they would end up in PC levels.

Question: what are the odds he hooked up with that Sczarni dude in Sandpoint, now a bit older?

I dunno, what are the odds?

I'd be okay with that. Someone has to be a bad influence on him.

After thinking about it some more, I'm going to be a bit more flexible in the ordering of Argor's kids, as well as their parentage:

Scenario 1) Imrizade is rescued and willing to marry Argor. Argor has the three kids I've already mentioned by her. She dies after birthing the twins. Then Argor may take on another love interest if it helps fit another potential Legacy character. But that would be it. He's not the player you guys keep talkin' him up to be :-P. Children order here would go Son (goes missing in Mwangi), Twins, Possible Extra PC.

Scenario 2) Imrizade either doesn't get rescued, or something happens that she and Argor don't get married. Argor then marries someone else, and all the kids he has are by them, including any extra that become Legacy Characters. The twins will be the youngest, and the mother will again die after birthing them. Children order here would go Son (goes missing in Mwangi), Possible Extra PC, Twins.

@Thron: Would you consider using Automatic Bonus Progression like Jelani is in Not Serpent's Skull? I've heard a lot of nice things about it. It would be cool to give different, unorthodox magic items outside the Big Six a whirl; moreover, truth be told, it'd be nice not to have to pause the plot for a few in-game weeks just so we can upgrade our stuff to get the bonuses the system starts assuming we have at the higher levels.

Reach of Corruption Map

For what it's worth - I've run using the ABP and loved it!

I’ve got plans for those mundane needs. It won’t quite be ABP, but it will essentially be the same. But for now make your build as if NOT using ABP.

Owner - Gator Games & Hobby

Okay - so before I go all-in on one of these concepts let me put a few of them out there divided by role(s).

Straight Bruiser:
Shalelu's daughter - a hulking Scaleheart skinchanger ('cause I couldn't just not). She'd be very much her mother's daughter in being fiercely protective of people long before she really opens up to them. Definitely some good old fashioned angst about her slightly monstrous nature, but is also fiercely determined to stay at the forefront, and absolutely refuses to just hide herself away.

Could be built as:
Bloodrager
or
Fighter
Maaaybe a claw/claw/bite ranger

Support/Tank:
I'm sort of vaguely thinking a child of Gianluca (who's more than a little embarrassed by their dad), but I'm real open for other good options of who to link this to. If there's a specific God that would be good to link to for the campaign, I'd be happy to change things around, but angling towards a Sarenrite otherwise. Tries hard not to be far from the archetypal mold of a wise merciful priest, but struggles a lot with forgiveness, and enjoys a good scrap a bit too much for their own comfort.

Could be built as:
Warpriest of [Sarenrae]
Life Oracle

The Life Oracle could also be a child of Rylee, either post centaurdom, or possibly really not digging life with the centaur tribe and getting Rylee to help ease their transition into the wider world with a li'l helpful polymorphing. (Mechanically I'd just build them as some basic PC race, but especially with the varying levels of discomfort about the centaurs' ways I like the idea of having come from there)

Lord and Master of the Universe/skillsy type:
A daughter of Auronee who's got a big chip on her shoulder about making up for her mother's mistakes and misdeeds, but also is keenly (if subconsciously) on the lookout for anything to show some of the heroes in a negative light (See! They're not perfect either!). All about the twin impulses to rise above their ancestry as well as dragging people off their pedestals. Probably a straight human, might make a pitch for being planetouched or something by some sort of strange experiment.

Could be built as:
Arcanist (Lord and Master of the Universe)
Psychometrist Vigilante (Skillsy Type with wacky magitech)
