So.... Is osmanthus a fruit? :P

GM Mort |

Osmanthus variously known as sweet osmanthus, sweet olive, tea olive, and fragrant olive, is a species native to Asia from the Himalayas through southern China (Guizhou, Sichuan, Yunnan) to Taiwan and southern Japan and southeast Asia as far south as Cambodia and Thailand.
It is cultivated as an ornamental plant in gardens in Asia, Europe, North America, and elsewhere in the world for its deliciously fragrant flowers which carry the scent of ripe peaches or apricots.

Garrosh Saurfang |

Yep, I am convinced - I LOVE peach gelatin :D

GM Mort |

I love desert making, baking and cooking. But when you're counting calories it pretty much kills your desire to do this kind of thing esp baking and desert making because they're so calorific =(

Kilarra Dimir |

None of those growing up here. It was -24C yesterday. The wind hit me in the face and I felt like my eyes were going to slowly freeze.

GM Mort |

You mean kecap manus?
I got kecap manis flavor in chicken wings before. My office loved it.

John Gs |

Okay, back to game question. I looked it up again, and Mort gave us 50gp at the beginning, well the Count did I mean. Assuming we didn't spend it, we could buy the essentials there. Bedrolls, ropes, trail rations, torches.
Then everyone else could buy anything additional that they need?
Any thoughts?

Garrosh Saurfang |

I'm cool with the purchases - we did spend lodging for Garrosh, Piotr and Kilarra for about... A week? Plus the drinking. Will have to do the math on that, as I know Mort gave us the prices.
Garrosh already has a bedroll and rations (what the heck did you people do with your starting 150 gold? :P), but the rest sounds solid.

Rozalia Tilescu |

Roz has what she needs in her witch's kit, so she's good to go.

Garrosh Saurfang |

We probably will need also light sources?

Caraid |

Yeah - my phone turns Caraid into 'Data is'. For some reason this gameplay thread is blocked at work but discussion isn't.
Or maybe Caraid is an android in disguise... :D

Rozalia Tilescu |

I'm fairly certain I didn't give birth to an android. :o

GM Mort |

Will move plot later, a lil busy with RL now. Moving somewhere to catch a high intensity interval training workout, sorry.

GM Mort |

Your GM is trying to lose weight so it's a whole list of doing some krazy things.

Garrosh Saurfang |

Gogo Mort! Well done!
The plot moves when it can ;)
EDIT: Loot list updated.

One, Two!
One, Two!
One, Two!

One, Two!
Me eating donuts each morning

GM Mort |

8 donuts? That's quite some. I'd stop at the first one, but again I don't eat donuts these days. I'm also headed to a parkrun for 5 km. My previous record was 29 min 30 secs to cover 5km.

Garrosh Saurfang |

I hope to be able to run for 30 minutes straight in 3 months time :D

GM Mort |

I think I could run 10 km but I wouldn't be able to run that fast. Would probably take me 1h 20min to do so or so, but again I've never tested out that theory yet.

GM Mort |

About running:
If I run outdoors (no earpieces) then I'll play Queens "We will rock you" in my head when I run. Because it's pretty much a perfect fit for my breathing pattern. When I'm seriously running my breathing becomes very measured. Two short sharp inhales, one longer exhale.
*We (double inhale) will(exhale) we(double inhale) will (exhale) rock you(double inhale) (exhale)*
And actually I think my running stamina is based on force of will rather then physical fitness. If I don't get to utilise techniques of landing on my forefoot and/or breathing patterns(I.e when I am running faster then I can maintain), I'm a rather crappy runner.
Basically I don't have much in the name of a burst - even my burst I can only hold for 200m and it isn't really that fast.

GM Mort |

Bohemian rhapsody is a song with variety of styles and different tempo throughout I thought? I know it's not really to my taste since I prefer stuff with more rhythmic beats that are fast paced.

Garrosh Saurfang |

And Happy New Year Mort! :D

GM Mort |

Thanks Garrosh! Chinese New Year is a horrible time for dieting with all that eating and snacks lying left right centre, though ^^

So I did the body type test and ended up as a Mesomorph(with some endomorph). Which means I uh…share the same body type as Arnold Schwarzenegger. Whut the heck?
I definitely do not look any kind of buff…
The idea of body type testing came from my uncle whom I was talking to during one of our new year dinner gatherings. He said his body configuration was more for events like shot put that required explosive power.
I personally thought that mine would be better for long distance running, since I don't have much in the name of upper body strength, but it didn't quite work out that way.
Don't mind me, I'm rambling.
I would guess Rayland is an ectomorph considering he tells us he eats 3,000 calories a day and doesn't put on weight.

Auryl Hajal |

I got a friend who can stow away three bags of crisps a week while mixing in other junk like McDonald's and not gain a pound or kilo. Meanwhile, my ancestors blessed me with a miller's torso and shoulders and I can't possibly look skinny even if I were to starve myself to death.
And I oddly enough have fallen into the habit of not having any music on when I go for power walks, do yoga and such. I use it as an opportunity to decompress and let my thoughts roam free. I don't think I could do the same at the gym tho - but that's one of the reasons I don't go to the gym.

GM Mort |

Yeah my brother is one of those skinny sorts that we say even if we dipped him in oil he wouldn't get fat. I'm...not so fortunate.
I need the music to help focus and centre myself. I find distance running more of a mind over matter thing. Tell yourself you can do it, and you will be able to. Think about how tired you are and you're not getting many wheres.
If I'm nature rambling, of course no music because I'm looking out for fluffy critters to add to my camera trophy list.

Kilarra Dimir |

When I was a teenager I was predominately underweight, regardless of what I ate. By the time I reached by early twenties, that changed dramatically. I doubled my weight in no more than 5 years, and have all the stretch marks that came with it. I'm not sure why I'm not gaining weight these days, since there's no way my energy output is equal or higher than my calorie intake. It's like I've hit some sort of plateau. As you can tell, I'm not educated in this realm.
I like to listen to music when I'm writing or at work, but otherwise I rarely do. I'm too busy planning out my next story arc.

GM Mort |

OK there's metabolism which slows down with age, and also depending on what meds you take, some may cause weight gain. I listen to music(Linkin Park) when I'm preparing AP maps etc.
When you gain weight, you burn more calories because there's more of you, simply enough. Of course muscle burns more then fat, which is why these days I'm doing some weight training(of course nothing on Rayland's scale) to build muscle. So that I don't have to control my intake that much. Else the moment I don't watch my diet, I'll balloon back.
Also I suppose that weight training came in handy after I was "paid" 2 nectarines to move a Large Vase of pussy willows out of the office to the outside pantry so the water could be changed. (It was starting to stink)
I'm quite an easy person to bribe with tasty treats =)

Kilarra Dimir |

Hmm perhaps my intake/output is equalized then. Hard to believe I can burn that many calories simply by 'existing'.
Nice job with the vase, but I wouldn't do it for 2 nectarines. Though I'm sure they taste better where you live. We import them, likely from Mexico or Brazil. Never liked em.
Best way to bribe: Coffee/Chocolate, freshly baked bread, cookies and pastries, oh yeah this is why I'm fat =P

Kilarra Dimir |

I hear you, John. I'm on a seefood diet. I see food and I eat it.

GM Mort |

Fat does burn calories, less then muscle but some, nonetheless. Nectarines are imported here to, but at the end of the day…I’m an eat anything sort. Seriously. Yes, John, I will eat grits and tofu happily enough. There’s very little in the world that I won’t eat.(It has to be spicy, rather sour, or bitter)
Yes, I’ve eaten balut before. It tastes like a cross between stir fried fish eggs and a poached egg. I like it.
I drank the office espresso without sugar(we switched back to the old beans that more people liked), and found it a little too bitter and acidic. Not that I can’t drink it but its like…meh.
I bake chocolate cakes lol. But they’re still in the experimental stage so I don’t get it right all the time.

Auryl Hajal |

I recently got myself an airfryer and oh my, being able to enjoy some fries without having to worry about your intake of bad fats is pretty neat. It produces little to no smell, you don't have to change oil and the food you make in it generally contains way fewer calories than if you made them the regular way in, say, a deep fryer or a pan.
Airfryers might be a typical Dutch thing tho.
Also, I cook more and more stuff in my oven. Chicken thigh filet plus whatever spices and some vegetables only need some thirty to thirty-five odd minutes in the oven and you don't even need to stand there and flip them over and over. Mexican fajita spices are my favorite n_n
*might be food-obsessed because he's mighty hungry after engaging in some rigorous cleaning activities Marie Kondo-style*

GM Mort |

Heh I'm not very good on the house cleaning part. I'd just get a roomba.
These days I can't even eat fries without feeling guilty. Though the last time I went to my friends house and she used an air fryer for the chicken nuggets and fries, they were a tad dry.
Oven is good. Baked salmon topped with salted butter, chili powder(asian thing) and pepper is delicious!
The last time I chopped a green pepper and added it to the baked salmon.

Kilarra Dimir |

My parents have a thing that lets them make fries, chips, or things like that without using much oil at all. Maybe that's an airfryer? I'll have to ask them.
I dislike cooking so I just cram stuff in the crockpot and have leftovers for a few days. Mostly things like chili and stews. Been a long time since I've had baked salmon.

Auryl Hajal |

It sure sounds like it, yes. Here in Holland you can buy stuff that's specially made for airfryers, but you can tell it's still early days as the quality differs greatly.
And salmon is great but super expensive. All fish is expensive here nowadays :( even the frozen stuff costs you. Think €4,10 a 160 gram per person. You can buy a kilo of chicken for 6 or a kilo of minced meat for 5.
