Oh, Ansha was going to start something anyway. She just hides it better ;)

Ansha |

Ansha speaks her oh so silky words. And just as both she and Kalankang are ready to cast there offensive spells, the Azer woman suddenly gives a surprising reply.
...
The azer seems willing to let you pass.
Well, that was unexpected. The problem is, Ansha's Diplomacy really was in service of her Bluff. I have no idea what might even be acceptable as a trade. What do we know that she might want?

![]() |

Everyone likes money. Wyran is indifferent to which tack to take.

![]() |

As a team player I am fine with either route. Wembly is more of a chatterbox so he will keep talking until someone tells him to stop.

![]() |

I'm conflicted here, because Diplomacy takes a full minute, and my casting only takes one round. That, and I think for as much as Ansha prefers to talk, she wouldn't stop her casting once she'd started, especially with anything mind-manipulating.
I understand what you are saying here, I hadn't started initiative rounds. So I think we have more latitude.... The scenario has specific information about a successful diplomacy check, which you made. I understand that diplomacy takes a minute, but out of combat it's really up to all of us to decide how long was actually spent.
But I'm fine with whatever you all want to do. Ya'll tell me...do you want to fight them? Then that's fine, I'll retcon back and roll for initiative.

Diplomacy!! I do not want a fight!

Enora - Iconic character |

Not a problem ... I just hope we win! :-)

Enora - Iconic character |

And I really thought you are doing this all the time ... ;-)

Yeah ...it seems to rarely work, and even more seldom attempted. I've tried a couple times with my Bard, but I alway roll poorly on my dispel checks.
For this one.
Dispel check was DC17 (11 + CL 6).
I think as a scroll, the dispel check should be rolled at the scroll's caster level. So that would have been at +5...but yeah a natty 20s gonna get there.
Very cool!!

Ranalus counterspelled in his previous scenario (shut down a Magus who was trying for Shocking Grasp). It's a good option and why he keeps a Dispel prepped. Given that the Azer's previous spell was Command I didn't make it a priority to do it this time, but maybe Ansha avoided something nasty.

Ansha |

I'm guessing it was lightning bolt, given the reference to electricity sparking on her fingers. If I was a proper counterspeller, I might have bothered with a Spellcraft check to find out what it was, but Ansha was mostly just miffed that she made her save against Confusion, and then successfully cast a spell of her own--an enchantment, at that.

I am impressed. I rarely have seen it work in the many years I have played as well. Well done.

I'm at a local convention this weekend and probably won't post until Sunday.
If combat continues, Wyran continues to fight defensively and apply nonlethal damage. He prioritizes keeping the guards busy.
If they surrender, Wyran gifts the leader a simple copy of Sarenrae's holy text The Birth of Light and Truth and the stone with continual flame he created on the journey up the mountain.

Excellent job all! That Juggernaut went down pretty easily...but it's not something you want to let hang around.
I'll be working on the chronicles. Time to roll for some boons!
Roll a d20, 19 or 20 wins a boon. If you do then roll a d4 to see which boon you win.

And we have a winner! Wyran PM me your email so you can get your boon.
Boon for GM?: 1d20 ⇒ 3
As a matter of fact, I'm planning to run another game in Season 8, you all are invited to play if you wish.

I am in for Captives of Toil.

![]() |

I've played that one, unfortunately. Do let me know if you get to 8-9 and 8-11, though.

![]() |

I will Wyran, as those are likely the next 2 I will run. Somehow I just missed all the 5-9s during season 8 at the time.
