Nobody said you couldn't ;)
Hehe. So if someone attacks me I post a reaction response even if it's not yet my turn, right? Can I talk if it's not yet my turn? Sorry for all the questions, but I'll get the hang of it soon enough

DM Doomed Hero |

Gwrr Yes.
Zib Same answer :) Spells and bombs are clearly not in the spirit of the fight, but it's up to you weather your character gives a damn or not.

No problem. Yes, talking is always a free action, as are reactions. I like fights to feel cinematic. Just keep your talking appropriately clipped and excited. Remember a round is only 6 seconds (give or take).
You can post as much talking and reacting as you like, but you can only act once a round.

DM Doomed Hero |

Take a look at the map, the initiative tracker is listed on the right side.

GWRRR'RRR |

I believe everyone in group 1 has finished our turns and reactions. Chess's new initiative is after mine (BTW I'm not sure that readied action was right, but cinematically it worked well, so I'm not going to object on semantics, but just point it out for next time; can someone readying an action convert it to a held action any time they want?)
Should group 1 go ahead and do our round 3 or will we treat it as one big fight and wait for round 2 to close? DM: Do you like to do your play by play stuff at the close of each round?
Map is a big help, thanks.
(And OOC, now that I've activated ferocity, I'm annoyed that throwing a 2-handed weapon is a full round action, and thus too strenuous for me to do before I go down). Sorry Zib...

DM Doomed Hero |

I agree about the wonkiness of the readied action. I think it just got jumbled due to a lack of a cohesive action tracker. I expected this to be a short example of how to use the posting format I'm looking for.
We'll let it slide since there's really no stakes right now.

As a note to all players
I know most games write in present tense. For this one I'd like you to post in past tense, so it reads like a novel. Ideally, I'd like the game to read something like a transcript of the match that some sports commentator was reading later.
Is anyone unfamiliar with what past-tense means?

So we just say gone instead of go, exploded instead of explode, seen instead of saw, etc.
A camel riding Samurai appears. It uses Leer. It is also super effective.
Zgyjhu will watch practice match and prepare for real combat.

I apologize for adding to the chaos! I think I did get mixed up a bit with all the initiaive confusion on my part. I'm loving the past tense and all, and this practice fight is really helpful to work out all the kinks! It's been a pleasure to play with you all, probably won't post much till tomorrow afternoon, as I'll be on a plane for the next 10 or so hours!
If actions would be useful and I don't get the chance to post them, Chess will spend the next round get his bearings and steading himself, then cast divine favor the next round, dancing all the while, all assuming folks don't decide to knock the elf out of the sky. See you all back on the east coast.

Joboo |

Did I miss out on some free feats somewhere? I notice that Ryujin is starting with 6, 4 of which I understand. My lonely 1 starting feat is feeling very inadequate at the moment.

DM Doomed Hero |

Is it too late to tweak my character? I'd like to add the invulnerable rager archetype after this battle.
That's fine. I want you to play the character you want to play.
The great thing about this game, you're in a place where you can constantly retrain. if something about your character doesn't make you happy, just let me know. We'll try something new.

DM Doomed Hero |

Ok, that was getting out of hand. To much to fast. This was supposed to set an example of how to post.
As you can see, with this many people things get complicated. That is why the posting format is so critical. Everyone has to be on the same page. I need everyone's help to make this run smoothly, which means understanding posting formats that I've put in my avatar, and keeping track of the rounds on the map document.
new Posting Rule: Please bold the name of your target.
This should help people keep track of who's doing what to their character.

Doomed Hero |

Theos, when I said join the game, I didn't mean join the battle.
At the time you entered I already had two fights going, intended to teach new people how to post properly. I like new people, and I'm willing to put forth a lot of effort to teach anyone who wants to learn. That being said, I need you to slow down a little.
Please read the treads up to now. A lot of ground has been covered. Your two IC posts should have been combined into one (that's what the edit option is for). Your combat header should have been at the top, and included a lot more information than you gave.
I'm singling you out because you were the one that jumped in. Don't think I'm harping on you. It's not personal.
This game is about a chaotic swirling melee, but if we all work together it shouldn't [/i] feel like one.

DM Doomed Hero |

Have you looked at the map?
(the blue part is a link. click it.)
On the map you'll see where everyone is, and on the right you'll see the order.
Next to the initiative order is the round tracker. I've already updated yours as having acted on round 2.
Do you see all that?

DM Doomed Hero |

They are normal rounds. That is how you know when you are up and who has already acted. After you act put an x in the appropriate round tracker.
Also, I noticed when you tried to use ooc text, it didn't work because you did not but the / in the closing code.
In order to make it work the code at the end has to be [/ooc]

Their's already an X their did you just move my move to that time, or should their not be an X in round two for me?

DM Doomed Hero |

Yes, as I said in my post earlier, I have already marked your round 2 action.
Have you read both threads all the way through and clicked my avatar?

DM Doomed Hero |

Those of you who've been here since the beginning, feel free to help them and answer questions.
I'm going to reset the map and set the scene in IC.
After that I'm going to be going to bed, so I won't be posting again for about 10-12 hours.
