Meredian Adriatnaic |

Meredian walks to the edge of the barrier and steps out. He then changes his appearance and steps back into the barrier. The illusion is dispelled and he looks like his normal drow self. He repeats this process to discern the outer barrier of the field.
If asked about his strange behavior by one of the group he says "I want to discern the shape of the magical field so that I can find it's center. That may shed light on what it is and possibly how to use it to my *ahem* our advantage."
If the field is circular Mer will discern the center and go to that location to look around.
This is just a curiosity so if it's not relevant to plot than let me know. Mer is simply curious by nature.

Meredian Adriatnaic |

Karsa follows Meridian around as he explores the field, equally eager to learn about it's nature but lacking the tools to do so.
"You can swap one dainty face for another all day but what are you hoping to accomplish here?"
Meredian continues his work hopping in and out of the field, but answers Karsa. Meredian speaks very quickly and uses a lot of jargon, and does not even look at Karsa to see if he is following the conversaition. Basically he sounds very smart and may be talking over anyone without several ranks of spellcraft's head. Though his tone is instructional rather than condescending.
"The spell itself is arbitrary and quite obviously not currently providing a suitable disguise. More to the point is that it is an illusion spell that I know the field will nullify and that I can cast effectively infinitum. I am using the illusion probe to mark the external boundaries. With this information I will be able to discern many things about the nature of it. All aspects of magic are mutable in one way or another, though it does have tendencies. Permanent emanations generally have a spherical or linear shape. In this case I would assume a single spherical shape given that a linear shape would be far less useful for the desired outcome. Once I measure the perimeter I can determine the original casting point. At this point there may be an item that causes the effect that can be exploited in some way. Even if it's simply a single casting permanent effect with no corporeal emination point I should be able to calculate the general power level of the caster and potentially how long it's been active. Many things can be gleaned and it's always educational to study new magics."
He stops momentarily and looks at Karsa. In a very serious tone he says "In conclusion, If I know what it is I can use it, abuse it, or replicate it. At the very least if I have knowledge of it than the probability of it screwing us over in some way is minimized. Educating one's self is the life journey of an Arcanist. Exploring the unknown is the only way to do this after a certain point."
Meredian then continues his measurements.

Karsa Orlong |

Karsa watches the drow carefully for a moment before sighing heavily, "It would seem your great intellect can do little to protect you from the great love all elves seem to have for hearing their own voice. Let me know when you find something useful."
Karsa then returns to casually looking over the wares of the nearby vendors, a bored expression on his face.

"You asked." Meredian says casually as he continues his work

After much wandering around and what might be perceived as "odd" behavior Meredian say's to whomever happens to still be present,
"The field covers the vast majority of the marketplace as well as reaching deeper into the city. The magic is extremely powerful and I am at a loss to completely explain it. It is interesting though."
Mer Pauses briefly and looks around
"Well then, I suppose it's time for a drink." Walking to the nearest local/shopkeeper and holding up a silver. "Where's the best place to get a drink around here?"
When they answer mer flips them the coin and heads off in the direction they indicate.

Meredian Adriatnaic |

Karsa falls in beside Meridian as he heads off in search of a drink, "All that fuss and you aren't sure? Perhaps Achaekek really did have a hand in it's creation? Either way, I'll be glad to be away from this place. I good mug of ale will suit me well."
"I'm not the deity of knowledge just yet, but every piece is a step in the right direction." Meredian says with a smile and just a touch of sarcasm as he looks around for a pub..

Adinauf Dhaunvirl |

Adin didn't let on that he was far from happy. What was with that elf, was he advertising their purpose. More then that why was he involved with the mantis, no one is on friendly terms with the Red Mantis. They are only interested in their own concerns, normally involving murder or their secrets.
"I suppose you would be offended if I passed."
Adin waits for a moment.
"As long as it does not go against my current contract I will listen. I am sure you understand my position."
Adin makes his way to the inn, wishing rookies would stay out of his game.

Meredian flips the coin to him,"Thank you, Good Sir."
Then to his companions "Off we go then."
The group then heads to the Dancing Elf Inn

Adinauf Dhaunvirl |

Adin did not think much of it but he knew about the Red Mantis, that with his habit of living got the point across.
"I can't speak for the other passangers. But I can tell you they are prideful and ignorant of the Red Mantis. I have a contract with their patron, if you want my help your going to have to convince them. If you can do that then I don't see a problem with your request. Do you require only his rescue?"

Voice of Awesomeness |

"Ah, no. I am not hiring a band of adventures, I am hiring the renowned captain Adinauf Dhaunvril. We were told of your arrival here today by one of our priests. If you feel you require aid in this task, and I imagine that you will, that is up to you to convince them. If successful, you will garner our favor, not them, though perhaps it would be wise to split any spoils with your companions"

Adinauf Dhaunvirl |

Adin's blank face broke for a moment when he gave the mayor a look of annoyance.
"With all due respect these people dont listen. I could convince two of them with a little trouble but the rest are about as reasonable as a cheliaxish priest in egorian. I have a contract to complete, if they choose to forgo this side quest their is nothing I can do. If you understand that then I guess we are done. I bid you farewell."
Adin gives a slight bow and leaves if he is not stopped.
I really dont expect anyone to help Adin do this side quest. At least not without him using dirty tactics. Kolm and Avlar have the best chance of being convinced to help without any real gain but dont know how you expect me to handle the other two/three.

Voice of Awesomeness |

The man you assume to be the mayor gives a nod of agreement. "I trust you will do what you can. If your successful, irregardless of how many of your companions aid you, you will be rewarded. If you fail, well it won't matter who helped you." With that he waves a sort of dismissive hand, and you are shifted back into the Inn, seated at the same table as before. You arrive back in time to see the rest of your allies enter the Inn.

Karsa Orlong |

Karsa orders a mug of the darkest stout in the Dancing Elf as he passes the bar. His drink on the way, Karsa casually moves over to take a seat across from Adin, "I know you have a flair for being overdramatic, but no one will think less of you if you simply use the door like the rest of us captain. So what brings you down here amongst the common folk?"
Adin, I think you're seriously overreacting to Karsa's taunting. I seriously doubt Adin would be on Karsa's list of favorite people but he's hardly going to turn you down out of spite. Even more importantly I think it's easy to forget that sometimes roleplaying your character is less important than forwarding the story and taking opportunities for more fun.
I also think you might find people are less hostile if you aren't expecting hostility from the start. We're all here to have fun first, mate.

Adinauf Dhaunvirl |

Adin disregards Karsa's words.
"If you think their is anything common about this city it's no wonder I was saddled with being a guide. I am here for business, which just concluded. I have to send somethings to the ship, visit Sanjeet Ralama Pakhesh, and make sure everything runs smoothly."
There is a reason it said DM. Karsa has shown so far to Adin that he is only interested in himself and he is prideful. Adin has no reason to think he would help without some gain. This is IC, OOC is a different matter and I dont know how your guy is going to be played. I can only go off what Karsa has shown so far, he has not shown himself to be the type to help because someone ask. Not that I can claim Adin is any different as he is not doing this just because he was asked but other reasons. If you think I view anyone as hostile I dont. I am just trying to keep to the RP and avoid any future party conflicts.
Adin plans on telling them once they land in Eleder about the little side trip. That way they can make their choice on land and more so away from the red mantis.

Karsa Orlong |

Karsa shruggs, "Fair enough, you know where to find us when you are finally ready to depart this chaotic mess of a city."
Karsa then settles into his seat and waits for his ale to arrive as the captain departs.

Meredian Adriatnaic |

Adin is not leaving right now, he is just stating what he will have to do while on shore leave. The ship is not even in port at the moment. Btw where is everyone staying?
Meredian offered his home to everyone (including Adin) before we left the ship.

Meredian offered his home to everyone (including Adin) before we left the ship.
Last time he simply opened the portal in a rented room. Frankly it doesn't really matter.

Meredian Adriatnaic |

Well let Adin know where you guys will be so he can find you later, I dont think you ever told him IC.
I thought he was standing there when I offered. Regardless, ...
After sipping his drink a moment at the table,
"Adin, Since you're ship is not present I assume you'll need somewhere else to stay tonight? Though I'm sure the inn's are lovely (Slight sarcasm). I've always found them to be...humm(Thinking)...Less than secure. I'm sure you're familiar with the Magnificent Mansion spell. I open such a portal daily and have already offered to allow the others to stay there. I've found that it's quite the time saver! It saves the trouble of gathering everyone together in the morning, as well as saving the trouble of tracking down anyone who may have murdered a companion in his or her sleep. You are welcome to join us if you wish. I've not decided on an exact location, but it's generally an arbitrary point."

Avlar |

Going to go with I found everyone when I went out to walk around so I can say stuff.
Avlar watches as the others speak with each other after Adinauf appeared out of no where. He thinks to himself "I wonder where he came from seem a bit off to just appear like that." Once he was done thinking he says " Meredian this house you speak of how do does it work exactly? It seems to be a very nice spell to have in case things go wrong."
You ever get to finish my boon? Thought I ask now since you were busy for awhile with stuff.

"It's a magical pocket plane. It summons fine food, furnishings, and lasts for several hours. ONly those who I allow may enter. Generally it's the most secure place to rest without worry of assassination. Unless of course I've inadvertently invited an assasin to join me. " He says with a bit of a coy smile.

Pinky stretches his wings out and speaks telepathically, "...and all the frsh fruit you can stomach!" Meridian also gets a sense of amusement from Pinky at the comment as well.

Adinauf Dhaunvirl |

Adin does not have a drink, he had things to do after all.
"I already have arrangements at the Treasure Cove Inn, its in the Jawbone. They will let you enter if you tell them your "Captain Adinauf's guest", do not say it any other way as they will not let you in otherwise. That should take care of sleeping arrangements. If there is nothing else I have business to take care. Excuse me."
Adin gets up and leaves to take care of things, they would be leaving soon enough. Sargava had little to offer in his mind, their was a reason he did not port there often.

Pinky takes another bite of his fresh pear, his favorite fruit by far. As the juice dribbles down his jaw, he turns to watch Adin leave.
