Karsa Orlong |
Karsa regards the mages for a second, "I'd say you're correct, I'll go collect Avalar. We'll have our rat problem sorted out in no time. Looks like our contest will have to wait Kolm."
As he goes to leave, Karsa stops for a second, turning back to Adin, "How would you suggest we conduct our sweep, captain?"
Adinauf Dhaunvirl |
Omiv heals the dwarf with a somewhat disapproving look. Adin answers Karsa.
"I thought we would start at the bottom of the ship and seal every room after inspecting it. This should limit their options, even if it resorts to magic it will be noticed. I know every inch of my ship, having designed and built it myself it can not have found a hiding spot unknown to me."
Omiv does not like wasting his spells on victims of a sparring match. :)

Meredian makes the "after you" hand motion. while he says "Lead the way."
Voice of Awesomeness |
After collecting Avlar, you all conduct the search. Scouring room by room, bottom to top, locking each room as you go, takes you a few hours. Unfortunately, you find nothing. No stowaway, no tracking device, nothing.
You all meet up for dinner(I assume you have some sort of central area to eat), and discuss options. Since Adin is positive none of his crew would turn traitor, and after a few heated arguments, determine none of you turned, your left with few ideas. Either there's potent magic hiding something or someone on board the ship, or, and far more likely, somebody out there had prior knowledge of this trip. This of course brings up your mysterious employer, and while he's a likely candidate, nobody can come up with even a semi reasonable explanation as to why he would go through all this trouble just to eliminate you.
Therefore, the only real conclusion is that somebody else, some unknown entity, is working against you.
Sorry to kind of railroad the conversation/debate, but I don't want more stupid PC vs PC bickering. It happened at dinner, but I am glossing over it for bigger and better things.
Meredian Adriatnaic |
After the dinner conversation has cooled down, "In lieu of any other ideas I suppose we continue ahead as planned. Well, almost as planned. It might be wise to alter your scheduled course. But other than that I think all we can do is move ahead as planned and whenever the next attack comes we survive it then look for clues. Anyone have any better ideas?" Mer says then looks around the table.
Karsa Orlong |
Karsa nods from across table, "I would prefer a more preemptive response but for the moment it seems we are doomed to wait. Adjusting our course seems wise though."
I have no issues with moving the group forward. Are we then just waiting from everyone to check in essentially before we continue to move forward? It seems that we have simply concluded that there is very little we can do for the moment.
Meredian Adriatnaic |
I'd like a response from Adin, him being captain and all.
Agreed. I think after everyone says their piece they'll all basically turn and look at Adin. It is his ship after all. The visual is almost comical if you imagine them all looking at once.
Adinauf Dhaunvirl |
Adin shakes his head. Why did they think the sea was anything like land.
"You cant change course on the sea at this point. Their is only one port we can make for supplies if we go to the left we have pirate infested waters, wild shores, and the eye. If we go right we have endless ocean and sea monsters that make those elementals look like push overs. Its Mediogalti or nothing. Anyways sense no one knew about where we were going except the one who hired us, I think its reasonable to think that changing course will do nothing to stop them from finding us again."
I am guessing we are past the arch and out of the inner sea. I have classes so wont be posting for a few hours.
Karsa Orlong |
Karsa stretches his wings and arches his back, "I'll just be glad to finally wash the salt from my clothes, I think it's starting to corrode my scales..."
He looks to Kolm, "So now that we've arrived, I don't suppose you know where we are supposed to be escorting you and our cargo?"

"I agree. My hair is frazzled and unruly because of the sea air, but nothing a good night inside my home won't fix. If we end up spending any time here you and the others are welcome to join me. You may speak with Kolm, jade, or pinky if you want to know how pleasant it is." Meredian says.
Karsa Orlong |
Karsa smirks at the elf, "Forgetting your former guests already? I will admit it's a step up from the average cramped hole at an inn."
Karsa stayed in the mansion the night before we left port if I'm not mistaken.

Meridian let's out a loud belly laugh "I believe I did forget. When you get to my age that sort of thing tends to happen more often than I care to admit. meridian says in obvious self depricating jest.
Meredian Adriatnaic |
Karsa shrugs, "You've seemed sharp enough thus far. A good deal more personable than the average elf too." Karsa seems somewhat puzzled by Meridian's easy laugh at his own faults. He's clearly lost the humor but his tone remains light.
"We're all mortal and thus have faults regardless if we admit to it or not. Only by being aware of ones faults can we hope to guard against having them used against us. Besides, If you can't laugh at yourself who can you laugh at?"
Pinky |
Pinky yawns and stretches his wings after waking up from his long nap. He lazily flies off of Meridian's shoulder and decides to get a little exercise. Even a dragon can get fat and lazy.
Hovering in place he flies along the others, and speaks telepathically, "Well, that was a long trip, and kinda boring. Still glad no one else went after us though." He turns his attention to Kolm. "So, Kolm where are we supposed to head to now?"
Karsa Orlong |
Karsa checks the straps on his armor before conjuring his devilish chain, he takes his place and looks a Kolm with a grin, "Are you ready, oh steadfast one?"

If you win initiative just post your first attack as well. I'll assume we start within 5ft of each other as you and Avalar did. Unless you'd you have a reason to change it up?
Feel free to read our little contest everyone, even add commentary or place bets if you're so inclined? The spoilers are just to keep the thread tidy.
Adinauf Dhaunvirl |
Adin spoke with Omiv before departing. He turned to the others.
"The ship will be gone for a few days. When it returns we will be set to move on."
He walks over to Avlar, producing a ring with a symbol.
"Seems I almost forgot, I'll loan you this, you should wear it."
He then takes a deep breath and looks about.
"I am off to the Jawbone. Be weary in Ilizmagorti."
Adinauf Dhaunvirl |
You cant make a knowledge check can you. :P
"Ilizmagorti is the name of the city your in and the Jawbone is a district of the city. If you want find yourself a guide, they will give you a tour of the city. The Jawbone is where the cities only shipyards are as well as their better establishments outside Dandy. If your looking to shop their are the Market and Mainmast."

I'm roleplaying. :-)
"what do you think, Pinky? I bet the market has fruit stands. "
Karsa Orlong |
Karsa looks out over the docks for a few moments, "I would be wary of straying too far apart during our stay. It's far easier to lay a trap for someone in a thriving city than the middle of the sea..."
He falls silent for a moment, as if considering something, "Still, there is at least one private matter I would prefer to attend to while we're here. I would suggest that we limit ourselves to a few hours of personal errands tonight and then stay together from there on."
He turns to Adin, "Where would I find the temple district in all this chaos?"
Adinauf Dhaunvirl |
Adin looks at Avlar.
"The ring once attuned gives you no need to eat or drink and resting takes far less time. It also bears my symbol, useful in its own ways."
Adin shakes his head at Karsa, he would not bother to explain the details.
"There are only two real temples. Besmara's House in the wharves and the Pagoda of the Mantis in redshore, I suggest you stay away from both."
Meredian Adriatnaic |
Karsa grimaces at Adin's words, "Figures...well then I suppose we can head to the market, a fresh meal wouldn't go amiss."
"It's probably not an issue in a place like this, but just for sake of appearances." Meredian says just before he makes a flourish with his hand. Upon completion his appearance changes to that of a surface elf. Actually it's the exact same sub species of elf as the captain. More to the point his skin, hair, and eye color match the captain exactly, though he still has his same features otherwise.
"No sense in attracting unwanted attention." He then looks around pointedly at his "eclectic" companions. "Well, no more than we would otherwise."
"Off to the market then. I'm sure we can find a decent inn in the vicinity to have a good meal." Meredian says as he proceeds to walk down the gangplank with Pinky on his shoulders.

Sorry for the wait, Hurricane Irene knocked out my internet, and I won't have it back at my house for at least another day.
