Pinky |
Pinky lounges on the table next to the bowl of fruit, eying anyone who approaches it with a cold look. Clearly, he has claimed this bowl of choice fruit for himself. All of you are amazed at how much fruit he is able to devour before he belches and flies up next to Meridian.
Gazing idly about him looking for some cats to pester, yet not seeing any, he closes his eyes for a brief nap, only to be woken by Meridian's question.

As you all relax after breakfast, trying to determine how to spend the rest of your day, there is a particularly loud crash of thunder and at exactly the same time a redish-purple cloud of sulfurous smoke explodes into the dinning hall. When it dissipates, there is a large fiendish looking minotaur standing there, wielding a vilely wicked looking axe. It sports two large horns atop it's head and a pair of large bat like wings.
Seeing you all sitting around it laughs, a sound like crackling flame "Well, this makes my job easier. I had expected to be faced with a challenge and instead I find a group of lazy mortals sitting around a table like fat pigs waiting to be slaughtered!!"

Mer looks at the captain, "Friend of yours?" he says sarcastically.

Karsa Orlong |
Karsa too raises an eyebrow in Adin's direction, "So much for the security of such a quality establishment. Once we're finished you'd best demand a refund...
Provided there's time.
The half dragon then casually rises from his seat and steps away from the table. He looks the minotaur up and down appraisingly, his sinister chain springing into existence between his clawed hands, "I'd watch who you taunt, goat! Aren't your kind little more than a god's cruel joke?"
Adinauf Dhaunvirl |
Adin kicks off from the table floating backward putting distance between himself and the fiend. He was not so much worried about the fiend as the utter stupidity that it was involved with. The mantis ruled the city, on top of that the Treasure Cove Inn had a well earned reputation. His only concern was staying out of the coming crossfire. He did not know who to pity more, the fiend or the summoner.

Assuming he hasn't immediately attacked Meredian (still seated and causally drinking his morning beverage though the table has been pushed away) says,
"So who's lackey are you, Minataur? Or perhaps you simply have a death wish, attacking this group on your own like this."

Any who made the Arcane roll can also make a Spellcraft check to see if they know anything about the Blackaxe.
Are you two drow planning on letting your companions know what it is they likely face, or are you gonna keep such important information to yourselves??

I wasn't sure if we were in combat or not
Meredian's eyes get wide when he gets a good look at the jagged obsidian ax in the Minitaurs hand. He stammers a bit as he say's "Treerazor? You're Treerazor's minion? " The normally jovial Meredian seems genuinely shaken and does not take his eyes off the ax as he speaks he is also pushes his chair away as he backs away from the minataur.
Voice of Awesomeness |
The Half-Fiend laughs again "Well, it looks like the puny mortals figured out that I posses the Blackaxe. Good for you, then you know what it's capable of, and most likely what I am capable of. Do yourselves a favor, just hand over those vile seeds so that my master can destroy them and nobody gets hurt."

Meredian looks to Adin while keeping the Half fiend in the corner of his eye.
Adinauf Dhaunvirl |
Adin does not show any sign of concern. He had a spell ready for the beast just in case.
"So you have your master's axe, its masterfully made and drips potent acid. Is this supposed to impress me. I am glad to know your master is etheir foolish or ignorant, it gives me hope. I am interested in how he keeps finding us, tends to be very annoying. But then again maybe you displeased him sense he sent you to place you have no chance of surviving. I suggest that if you are able you return to your master's hovel in the woods. You know nothing of what you have done to yourself already."
He did not expect the half breed to listen or learn. It was a thug which meant as soon as its threats went unheeded it would attack. Adin was just glad they were on the first floor, it was made to take the punishment of battle.

I have a fair amount to post, but its more than I feel like postin via my cell.

Also remember Meredian has arcane sight constantly. He'll be looking at the minataurs magical auras, including the axe. If it's an artifact (or not) he'll know it.
Edit: just a reminder about strong auras
School divination; Level bard 0, cleric 0, druid 0, sorcerer/wizard 0
Casting Time 1 standard action
Component : V, S
Range 60 ft.
Area cone-shaped emanation
Duration concentration, up to 1 min./level (D)
Saving Throw none; Spell Resistance no
You detect magical auras. The amount of information revealed depends on how long you study a particular area or subject.
1st Round : Presence or absence of magical auras.
2nd Round : Number of different magical auras and the power of the most potent aura.
3rd Round : The strength and location of each aura. If the items or creatures bearing the auras are in line of sight, you can make Knowledge (arcana) skill checks to determine the school of magic involved in each. (Make one check per aura: DC 15 + spell level, or 15 + 1/2 caster level for a nonspell effect.) If the aura eminates from a magic item, you can attempt to identify its properties (see Spellcraft).
Magical areas, multiple types of magic, or strong local magical emanations may distort or conceal weaker auras.
Aura Strength : An aura's power depends on a spell's functioning spell level or an item's caster level; see the accompanying table. If an aura falls into more than one category, detect magic indicates the stronger of the two.
Lingering Aura : A magical aura lingers after its original source dissipates (in the case of a spell) or is destroyed (in the case of a magic item). If detect magic is cast and directed at such a location, the spell indicates an aura strength of dim (even weaker than a faint aura). How long the aura lingers at this dim level depends on its original power:
Original Strength Duration of Lingering Aura
Faint 1d6 rounds
Moderate 1d6 minutes
Strong 1d6 × 10 minutes
Overwhelming 1d6 days
Outsiders and elementals are not magical in themselves, but if they are summoned, the conjuration spell registers. Each round, you can turn to detect magic in a new area. The spell can penetrate barriers, but 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood or dirt blocks it.
Detect magic can be made permanent with a permanency spell.
Detect Magic
Spell or Object Aura Power
Faint Moderate Strong Overwhelming
Functioning spell (spell level) 3rd or lower 4th–6th 7th–9th 10th+ (deity-level)
Magic item (caster level) 5th or lower 6th–11th 12th–20th 21st+ (artifact)

You all notice that the room, in fact the whole Inn, is vastly more quiet than it should be. Unnaturaly so even, as if the entire staff and guests suddednly lost the ability to create sound.

Kolm, who has not stopped eating since the minotaur arrived, now looks up at the beast. "So, to what do we owe a visit from a minion of Treerazor?"

The Minotaur looks to the heavily armored Dwarf and grins a wicked smile "Ah. You are he who protects the seeds, thus you are he who must die first if you do not hand them over to me." He laughs at the bravado of Adin."You are probably expecting the vaunted guards and staff of this fine inn to come rush to your aid. Sadly, they're unable to do much of anything at the moment."
As he says this, another demon teleports in. Where the minotaur is all muscle, brute strength and clearly a warrior of some sort, the demon who just arrived is darkly beautiful, with a sinister yet stunning appearance. Her wings are more slender and on the whole she is far more graceful looking. The minotaur smiles again at her "My dear Sarneth, it warms my black soul to see you here. Did you have any trouble dealing with the guards of this place?" He says this last as if knowing the response. The Succubus responds in a musical voice that drips poison "Of course not, they were putty before my manipulation and magicks. None of them really stood a chance"
Adinauf Dhaunvirl |
Adin's eyes darted between the two behind his dark goggles. He drew his rapier with a flick of his wrist letting the point rest on the marble floor as he shifted his stance and rested his free hand on his lower back. He had distance and a spell ready, their were no surprises coming. If he was surprised it would only be to his delight.
"Your wrong half breed. What I expect will pass, only the time is in question."
These two had made a mistake, one he was going to exploit when the time came.

The minotaur sets himself, axe at the ready, awaiting one of you to be foolish enough to come attack him.
He went first, with a 24. The Succubus will go after Adin, whose turn it is now.
Karsa Orlong |
Ugh, sorry everyone. I have been completely bogged down with a new job and moving but I finally have everything under control again and Karsa is ready to kick some demonic ass!
Karsa snorts when told that the Inn's guards have all been incapacitated, "Figures...we're really going to need to see about that refund..."
He then addresses the newly arrived succubus, I think you'll find that my friend will prove a far more daunting challenge than the resident hired muscle around here, my dear. And that's to say nothing of the rest of us, you'd best run back to you master before you and your bovine friend get in over your heads."
