Background:

Karsa remembers little of his younger years, he has been told that he was to be the prodigal son of a heathen cult of dragon worshippers who hid deep within the mountains of Cheliax. This cult was found and summarily destroyed by the Chelish imperial forces not long after Karsa's birth. The soldiers who found discovered the cult saw fit to spare the half-dragon's life, hoping to harness the innate power of such a rare creature for House Thrune and the empire.

Karsa grew up with a strict regiment of military training, his great physical prowess and innate psionic abilities harnessed to sculpt him into one of the most powerful warriors in all of Cheliax. Despite his training and the empire's best efforts, Karsa maintained a strong sense of self that could not be driven from him by any means. He served the empire as it was the only home he had ever known but cared little for the politics that run rampant throughout Cheliax and refused to have any part of them. Realizing this, House Thrune focused his power in a different direction. Having taken well to the religion of Asmodeus, Karsa was tasked with combatting demonic power within the empire. He found himself a purpose in waging war against beings of pure chaos and destruction. Free of any moral concerns, Karsa became a scourge against demonic power throughout cheliax and served the empire well for many years.

House Thrune however, came to covet the half-dragon's power and sought to manipulate him to achieve other goals. He was tasked with the destruction of a rival house to that of House Thrune, being told that they had abandoned the church of Asmodeus and had taken to consorting with powerful demons in order to overthrow House Thrune. In truth, House Thrune simply wanted to destroy the rival house but had been unable to do so by political means. Karsa eventually learned the truth and was enraged by their deception. Betrayed, he turned his full fury upon the House of Thrune, inflicting a great deal of damage before he was declared an enemy of the empire and forced to flee in order to avoid death. He now works a a mercenary, taking on only those tasks that he finds worthy and ever careful to avoid ever being betrayed again.
