War of Ages (Monkeygod's Golarion Game)

Game Master Monkeygod

A disparate group of "adventurers" seek to possibly end the threat of Treerazer once and for all.

Male Fighter/Barbarian 3

"Of course. What shall be the goal in this sparring match? First blood, or something a bit more taxing?"

Kolm hadn't expected this, but he is willing to spar with Avlar.

Once we have negotiated the terms of the match, Kolm will take his weapon and shield out again.

Male Half elf. 3 Cavalier(Beast Rider)/Fighter

Alvar thinks for a moment than says "First blood would end it quickly I need to get use to my body again." He thinks more on it than says "How about we spare until we cannot move anymore? Do you wish to spare with or without your armor?"

Male Fighter/Barbarian 3

"I'd rather with, if you don't mind. I'm not in my element if I'm not in my armor."

Male Half elf. 3 Cavalier(Beast Rider)/Fighter

Avlar nods "Very well than let us find some leather or cloth to warp our weapons with. Would you happen to have any? If not let us see if any of the others have some."

Male Fighter/Barbarian 3

"Sorry, lad, I don't have anything with which to wrap our weapons."

I'll be back in about 2-3 hours. I've got a bit of stuff I need to do. Just assume Kolm helps in acquiring any materials we need for this match. Honestly, I don't know what the outcome is going to be. Kolm may not hit hard, but he's hard to hit, and even harder to take down. Avlar, however, hits harder, but doesn't have many hp. It could go either way.

Male Half elf. 3 Cavalier(Beast Rider)/Fighter

"Very well than I will go ask the others." Avlar than goes to ask the others if they had any leather or cloth. If none have any he asks the crew on the ship for some.

I figure if we have leather or cloth wraping the weapon we can have it do non-lethal damage. It is something to do. Yeah I figure it is going to go on who crits the most. I am doing it to get some practice with Avlar. Plus he does have a good in game reason to want to spare."

DM ONLY:

Whenever tomorrow morning rolls around don't forget about the info on the item please. ;-)

From previous post:
Meredian will pull up to the desk in the room where he normally studies his spell book and proceed to identify the item further. Detect Magic + spell craft 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (1) + 24 = 25 If that roll is not successful Meredian will prepare identify and try again tomorrow morning. Edit: Balls, that roll sucked. Tomorrow with the help of Identify Detect magic + Identify + SPellcraft1d20 + 34 ⇒ (12) + 34 = 46

Male Fighter/Barbarian 3

"Well, Avlar, I've got some rope in me bag, back in the room. Perhaps we could wrap our weapons in that?"

Just so you know, it's very possible that I could simply beat you not by dealing tons of damage, but by simply outlasting you. In the event that you get knocked out, I'll simply CMW on you. I've got it as a SLA 1/day.

Edit: I realized I said simply a heck of a lot in this post. I'll try to refrain from repeating words a bunch, as that gets on my nerves, and I'm sure it gets on other people's nerves as well.

Male Half elf. 3 Cavalier(Beast Rider)/Fighter

Avlar nods " That may work lets go try it than." He waits as Kolm goes to get the rope.

I figure you have almost double my hp I could do loads of damage all I want but you would still be able to outlast me easy. CMW sounds cool thanks.

Male Fighter/Barbarian 3

I'll retrieve the rope, and proceed to wrap his weapon, having the end cut with just enough left to tie it all off. Afterwards, he'll toss the rope to Avlar. "Only use enough to wrap your weapon. I may have a bunch, but I still don't like being wasteful."

I have 14 fewer than double your hp. In any case, Kolm is a good sportsman. Also, Voice/Monkeygod, how much rope would wrapping up our weapons use?

Male Half elf. 3 Cavalier(Beast Rider)/Fighter

Avlar nods than draws his blade. Once out he moves so he can begin to wrap his blade with rope. With the blade covered he proceeds to tie it as Kolm did. He than moves to give Kolm back his rope, with the given back he swings his blade around to test it nodding as the rope does not weigh the weapon down to much turning to Kolm "If you are ready we may start." He than goes into a fighting stance to wait for Kolm to attack.

You can go first since I asked.

Male Fighter/Barbarian 3

While you are wrapping you're weapon, Kolm is going to readjust his armor.
Shelter of Steel1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 13 Temp HP

"If ye're sure, lad. "
Attack 1 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (10) + 19 = 29

Attack 2 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31
Damage 2 1d10 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

I just realized that I have Diehard. If, for some reason, you actually get me down to low HP, I'll simply choose to get knocked out.

Kolm grunts slightly, bracing his Bardiche against the top of his shield, [I believe] striking Avlar with his second blow.

Male Half elf. 3 Cavalier(Beast Rider)/Fighter

Avlar moves his body out of the away of the first blow before getting catch by the second. He grunts as the bardiche hits he than moves to start it own assault. He than begins to shower blows at Kolm.

122/137 HP
Attack 1: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (7) + 23 = 30

Attack 3: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15
Damage 3: 1d10 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19

Growls as only one of his blows hit Kolm. He thinks to himself "Good I can work out these mistakes now instead of in a battle where our lives are on the line."

If I keep rolling like this diehard will not really matter.

Male Fighter/Barbarian 3

259/260

Kolm only takes a glancing blow as he returns with his own, admittedly slower (than Avlar's), barrage.

Attack 1:1d20 + 19 ⇒ (16) + 19 = 35
Damage 1:1d10 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Attack 2:1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27
Damage 2:1d10 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Male Half elf. 3 Cavalier(Beast Rider)/Fighter

Avlar takes the the first hit but gains his balance quick enough to side step the second. He than returns the strikes once again but this time swinging at different positions hoping to catch Kolm.

105/137
Attack 1: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (20) + 23 = 43
Confirm Crit 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (20) + 23 = 43

I am never going to see that again ever.

Attack 2: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (7) + 18 = 25
Damage 2: 1d10 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20

Attack 3: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Damage 3: 1d10 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21

Avlar grins as his first blows lands solidly upon Kolm but than curses himself as the others miss.

Male Fighter/Barbarian 3

221/260

"Nice one," Kolm grunts, surprised at the strength of the blow.He returns with a flurry of stabs, somehow faster this time.

It's fine if we can assume that Kolm and Avlar aren't staying in the same place, right? a 5-foot-step or so each turn? It won't affect our actual action count, it'll just make sure we can both take the maximum number of attacks in a round.

Attack 1:1d20 + 20 ⇒ (10) + 20 = 30
Damage 1:1d10 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Attack 2:1d20 + 20 ⇒ (11) + 20 = 31
Damage 2:1d10 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Attack 3:1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33
Damage 3:1d10 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

Kolm's actions become slightly more graceful, and he gets 2 hits on Avlar.

Kolm is now hasted, thanks to his boots. AC 38

Male Half elf. 3 Cavalier(Beast Rider)/Fighter

75/137

Alvar nods to Kolm. He dodges the first strike but loses footing and takes another two hits before regaining it. He than aims his swings at his head and arms. Hoping to catch him fast enough.

Yeah that is fine when I say he side stepped or moved out of the way meant like a 5-foot step.

Attack 1: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (14) + 23 = 37
Damage 1: 1d10 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19

Attack 2: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (3) + 18 = 21
Attack 2: 1d10 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19

Attack 3: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24
Attack 3: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26

Avlar growls once again as none of his blows land on Kolm.

I am going to bed I have to be up early for class if stuff happens while I am gone we can finish through spoilers.

Male Fighter/Barbarian 3

221/260

Nothing else is really going to happen, I don't think, unless it interrupts our fight, in which case we won't be finishing.

As Avlar's strikes glance off his armor, Kolm returns with a few of his own, backing up as he does so.

Attack 1:1d20 + 20 ⇒ (6) + 20 = 26
Damage 1:1d10 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Attack 2:1d20 + 20 ⇒ (14) + 20 = 34

Male Half elf. 3 Cavalier(Beast Rider)/Fighter

61/137 HP

Avlar leans to dodge the first strike but in doing so gets hit by Kolms second. He than parries with his blade to stop the third. After the parry he once again tries swift strikes at Kolm.

Attack 1: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (7) + 23 = 30
Damage 1: 1d10 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22

Attack 2: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (9) + 18 = 27
Damage 2: 1d10 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22

Attack 3: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15
Damage 3: 1d10 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20

I should stick with charging.

Avlar once again yells at himself for having all his strikes not hit Kolm.

Male Fighter/Barbarian 3

"It's okay, lad. I'm a tough one to hurt."

After the blows slide off his armor, Kolm returns with a quick series of jabs.

Attack 1:1d20 + 20 ⇒ (20) + 20 = 40
Confirmation:1d20 + 20 ⇒ (6) + 20 = 26
Damage 1:1d10 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Confirmation:1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25
Damage 3:1d10 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Wow, two threats, no confirmations. Also, don't feel bad, I'd have a tough time hitting me too.

Male Half elf. 3 Cavalier(Beast Rider)/Fighter

"As I can see."

Growling as as tow of Kolm's strikes connect. He than tries to strike at Kolm once again.

Attack 1: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (9) + 23 = 32
Damage 1: 1d10 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19

The two of you beat on each other for awhile, both gaining confidence in your respective areas of expertise. Finally though, Avlar goes down under the slow and steady attacks of Kolm. He heals you up and you two shake and decide to do this as often as possible on the trip.

Meanwhile, Meredian pours over the gemstone, which is a dark red ruby flecked with black. While your unable to determine it's full purpose, you are able to figure out that it acts as some sort of tracking device. As you do this, Pinky enjoys a bowl of yummy fruit then takes a nap.

Adin, after making sure your crew is fine from the attack and that they have their orders, you retire to your cabin and begin to study your spellbook.

Kolm you gain a floating +2 competence bonus to AC while Avlar you gain the same to Attack. It may be used as an immediate action, once.

Adin, unless you feel it's overpowered(be honest!), your spellbook contains all 1st level spells from Core, APG, UM and UC.

Male Fighter/Barbarian 3

"Nicely done, lad. I've met few people tha' could strike me that forcefully. You truly are quite formidable, and I'm glad ye're on my side. In a fight where it weren't jus' the two of us, things easily could've turned out very differently."

Avlar, with your Sense Motive, you can tell Kolm respects you as a combatant.

Unexpected benefits, not bad. I'll save that AC for when I need it. Also, MG, how many feet of rope did that take? Does 5-10 feet work?

Male Half elf. 3 Cavalier(Beast Rider)/Fighter

Avlar nods "Thank you. You are very hard to hit. That will be a good thing in the days to come." Avlar salutes Kolm before going below deck to think on the sparring match and the attack from the elemental.

I sensed motive figure I would not need to roll. Yeah go benefits I figure you would just beat the sense out of me I was hoping to get you down to 200 hp.

The next morning (a bit later than usual) Meredian exit's his room and looks about for the Captain. Upon finding him (presumably attending to some ship duty or another) Meredian smiles and casually tosses the Gemstone to the capt. If the Capt. doesn't grab it out of the air it will simly hover in front of him until he danes to grab it (via telekinesis).
Meredian then says, almost conversationally but loud enough that anyone on deck would have no issues hearing, "As the only other arcanist on board I was wondering if you could offer me a second opinion on this item. Best I can tell it's a tracking device of some kind, but I can also see that there is more to it than that. It may or may not have something to do with the Elementals that we destroyed yesterday. What do you make of it?"

Thats not overpowered, at our level few 1st level spells scale enough to mean much directly. Makes things easier utility wise granted. Also let me know if what I post next is a bit much.

Adin speaks to Omiv quickly who races off only to return moments later with a lead box. It was not the first time they dealt with this type of thing. He places the gem inside closing the lid and locking it shut.

"How about you explain to me why knowing its for tracking you kept it exposed and did not seal it?"

About my last post that was Adin's way of pointing out that he should have shared the gem with him from the get go. He is not mad or anything he is thinking about what to do next. (understood. Although that only became relevant once he knew it was a tracking device. He's an adventurer and a drow to boot. It wouldn't be wise to assume he'll share everything. After all, he wouldn't share all his secrets anymore than you would share yours with him. If you found a shiny would you come running to Mer? I doubt it, though once we've earned a level of trust (in game) perhaps that will change. Sharing the stone with you is his first step towards that. Now the ball is in your court, so to speak.)

Edit: Regardless of any perceived character flaw it's pretty apparent that Mer is incredibly intelligent. As with other arcanists you've no doubt met in the past the best way to deal with them is to collaborate and ask questions. After all, nobody can know everything. Just a thought.

Meredian, before you handed over the gemstone, you studied it much more thoroughly that morning. You took 20. As such, you were able to figure out that it was almost some sort of magickal trap, keyed to the Silver Sin. When the ship passed over the gem, despite how far down it was, a powerful summoning spell went off, bringing forth the elementals.

Upon further analysis you also determine that somebody must have had prior knowledge of the Sliver Sin in order to properly set up this attack.

To pinky only: "Pinky, could you relay something telepathically to Our good Captain please?" (I'm assuming he's willing)

To Adin via Pinky: "The stone was a trap specifically set for the Silver Sin. Someone would have had prior knowledge of the ships location to set it properly. My keeping of the stone was a non-issue. Kara watches the sparring match with great interest. After it is over he approaches Kolm and Avalar, a slight smirk on his face, "Well fought, the both of you. Perhaps next time one of you would spar with me? I long for some real competition."

He regards Kolm up and down for a moment, before reaching out with his foot and tapping the dwarf's iron clad shin, "There's no question that you're a walking wall of iron, but I wonder just stable that wall is?"

MG, is it possible for Karsa to nerf his mind blade. I'm not certain I could simply wrap it while manifested but I might be able to simply choose for it to be less lethal?

Yes, but only to any attempt to move, such as Bull Rush, Grapple, Overrun and Trip. Think of it as your so comfortable and good at wearing your armor that you can easily shift it ad your weight around to make you harder to push around.

Excellent, then if our mages are currently occupied, now would seem like a good time to see how we stack up.

Karsa looks around for a moment, "With the dainty elves preoccupied, perhaps now is as good a time as any. Lets see if the captain's priest can't get you back in peak form?"

He then moves off to find Omiv and ask about some minor healing for Kolm.

Provided Adin doesn't have any objections about the minor use of his first mate we can begin.

"Seems we may have a stowaway. Any of you mind coming along to look for him?"

Meredian speaks to the group,"As you wish, Capt. Since subtly is out the window. Pinky found a trap specifically designed for the Silver Sin. To use properly it would require knowledge of the ship and it's location. The captain is entirely certain that his crew are loyal.Hence, the only natural assumptions left are that there is a stowaway or perhaps some sort of tracking item on board. We need to find it, regardless of what 'it' is. Any questions Gentlemen?" Then looking to Jade"or lady?"
