True enough. That initiative roll seems like it was days ago. ;-) So given the new information I will be able to do whatever I want with the new information on my turn. Yay

Edit: WIthout knowing the enemies Initiative I think Avalar is first and I'm second.

DM, could we have a better idea of where we are in relation to everything? How close to the ship did the water elemental come up and on what side? I take it that the air elemental disabled the cannon about the same time as the elemental crested the water so none of us have had time to move towards it? How far away are we from each of these creatures? Does anyone see the air elemental besides Adin and myself? How big is the air elemental? Better yet, is there going to be a map at any point? I'm just looking at the thread and I'm not certain on either timeline or placement so I'm not really sure what to do? A little clarification would be much appreciated :)

Ditto. Although I'm ranged so it's less of a concern.

Male Drow Noble Conjurer 3/ Master Specialist 10

Just remember that the silver sin is 30 ft. by 120 ft. :)

Male Archangel of Awesome Paladin of Badassery 20

had a random adventure tonight with my friend mikalya, so I won't have a big post, but to answer some questions: the water elemental appeared in front of the ship and is about 20 or so feet in front of the ship. The air elemental disabled the cannon just before the water one appeared, but no, you have yet to move near it, though you could be on your way there. The air elemental is currently 50 or so feet in the air, off the side of the ship where the cannon was(i don't remember if i said a side, if not, right). Not sure who all can see the air ele, other than Adin for sure. If I said you did, your included. otherwise, i need to go and re-check. The AE appears to large size(for ease) though it's difficult to tell due to it's rather unsolid, cohesive. No map any time soon, sorry.

As to where you all are, in my mind, Adin is floating slightly in the air not too far from the prow of the ship, maybe 20 feet so from it. Those of you still in the air can position yourselves. Kolm I'm thinking is near the front of the ship as well, though he could be further back than Adin. Jade I am not sure of, same with Meredian.

Who all is currently flying?? Avlar are you mounted or flying under your own power?

Male Half-Red Dragon Dwarf Soulknife 11

Not sure if I can see the elemental but my perception was better than Adin's so I'm just assuming...

Karsa is flying 20ft above Adin as he was trying to get a good look at the fiendish water elemental.

So should we be detailing our first round actions at this point or do you have more info to impart first?

Oh, forgot to ask before. Does the air elemental also look fiendish like the water one?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Pinky on seeing these are elementals and knowing his abilities are next to useless against them will return to Meridian, so whereever Meridian says he is stationed on the Silver Sin.

Pinky is currently flying about 15' away from the port side of the Silver Sin and about 20' up from the ocean surface. Since his fly speed is 60' he should be able reach Meridian in one round (double move).

Ok, since it would be really lame and probably a little silly otherwise, the Water Elemental has taken it's turn already this round and has emerged as it's action. You all have a round of actions more or less unopposed. Let me know what you're doing.

You can't really tell if the AE is fiendish or not

Male Drow Noble Conjurer 3/ Master Specialist 10

Adin cast a spell at the Air Elemental.

Magic Missile- 17 dmg:

5d4 + 5 ⇒ (1, 2, 2, 3, 4) + 5 = 17

Just because;
scorching ray
Ray1 touch attack 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 224d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 6, 6) = 20
Ray2 touch attack 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 134d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 1, 1) = 4
Ray3 touch attack 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 234d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 5, 2) = 10

If needed
Ray 1 SR roll 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20
Ray 2 SR Roll 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (18) + 16 = 34
Ray 3SR roll 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33

Scorching Ray:

School evocation [fire]; Level sorcerer/wizard 2

Casting Time 1 standard action

Components V, S

Range close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)

Effect one or more rays

Duration instantaneous

Saving Throw none; Spell Resistance yes

You blast your enemies with a searing beam of fire. You may fire one ray, plus one additional ray for every four levels beyond 3rd (to a maximum of three rays at 11th level). Each ray requires a ranged touch attack to hit and deals 4d6 points of fire damage. The rays may be fired at the same or different targets, but all rays must be aimed at targets within 30 feet of each other and fired simultaneously.

Since I doubt I'm in melee range of anything, I'll do roughly the same action but with a bow instead. Take out the bow as a move action, draw an arrow, lick it, fire it, shout out, "ENVENOMED VITAL STRIKE!"

To hit: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29
Damage if it hits: 3d8 + 8 ⇒ (4, 7, 6) + 8 = 25
Poison: DC 18, frequency 1/round for 6 rounds; effect 1d2 Con damage; cure 1 save

Male Half elf. 3 Cavalier(Beast Rider)/Fighter

Going to charge at the Water Elemental if possible if not just move closer to it. Also going challenge it.

Avlar stares through his visor at the Water Elemental. He than says to the group in a loud voice "Anyone want to help me keep the bigger one busy?" With that he pushes Scarto forward to charge at the Water Elemental saying low "For honor."

Attack and Damage Rolls if I can charge at the elemental.

Power Attacking

Karsa growls, "Lets give it a taste of draconic might!"

With that he charges after Avalar, bringing his chain around in a wide arc he lashes out at the tainted water elemental.

Mind Blade (Charge, Power Attack, Fiercebane (Evil Outsiders), Psychic Strike) : 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (10) + 26 = 36
Damage : 2d6 + 2d6 + 30 ⇒ (4, 2) + (2, 4) + 30 = 42 + Psychic Strike : 3d8 ⇒ (8, 8, 8) = 24

Meredian Adriatnaic wrote:

Same.

Male Archangel of Awesome Paladin of Badassery 20

Adin fires several small bolts of energy which fly into the air elemental, though to not much effect.

The three fiery rays that Meredian fires off seem to have no effect on the creature. The first one hits, but causes a slight shimmer to occur that seems reminiscent of when you've seen a spell fail against another of your race. The second ray seems to somehow just miss finding its mark, while the third lands squarely but doesn't have any effect.

Meanwhile, Jade let's loose a mighty cry and a vicious arrow, but a watery hole opens in the elemental's body, and the projectile passes through harmlessly.

Thankfully, both Half-Dragons attacks are true and the Water Elemental roars in pain.

Karsa, where's Cornugon Smash from?

Male Half-Red Dragon Dwarf Soulknife 11

It's from the Cheliax companion book Empire of Devils. Sorry, I thought I had already cleared it with you but I can still swap it out if you would like? The feat gives you a free intimidate check on any attack you hit with using power attack.

So are we now onto the next round? what about the elemental's turns?

EDIT : Avalar, I'm just checking but if you charged on Scarto shouldn't you have done double damage from Spirited Charge? Also, if you are Order of the Dragon you should have another +3 to hit from your challenge?

"Well, Those two seem to have this well in hand, but what say we stack the deck in our favor?" Meredian say's to Pinky, though loud enough that anyone nearby can hear. "Vá com Deus! " Meredian says accompanied by an arcane gesture. "It's always good to let the burly types know you're of value to them. It's an easy way to make friends and it saves them the embarrassment of being vaporized when they become unruly in your direction."
(Haste targeting the half dragons, though if anyone else is within 30 feet of them i'll include them also.)

HASTE:

School transmutation; Level bard 3, sorcerer/wizard 3
casting Time 1 standard action
components V, S, M (a shaving of licorice root)
range close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Targets one creature/level, no two of which can be more than
30 ft. apart
duration 1 round/level
Saving Throw Fortitude negates (harmless); Spell resistance
yes (harmless)
The transmuted creatures move and act more quickly than
normal. This extra speed has several effects.
When making a full attack action, a hasted creature may make
one extra attack with any weapon he is holding. The attack is made
using the creature’s full base attack bonus, plus any modifiers
appropriate to the situation. (This effect is not cumulative with
similar effects, such as that provided by a speed weapon, nor does
it actually grant an extra action, so you can’t use it to cast a second
spell or otherwise take an extra action in the round.)
A hasted creature gains a +1 bonus on attack rolls and a +1 dodge
bonus to AC and Reflex saves. Any condition that makes you lose
your Dexterity bonus to Armor Class (if any) also makes you lose
dodge bonuses.
All of the hasted creature’s modes of movement (including land
movement, burrow, climb, fly, and swim) increase by 30 feet, to a
maximum of twice the subject’s normal speed using that form of
movement. This increase counts as an enhancement bonus, and
it affects the creature’s jumping distance as normal for increased
speed. Multiple haste effects don’t stack. Haste dispels and
counters slow.
Targets one or more creatures, no two of which can be more than
30 ft. apart

Pinky flies like a dragon possessed back towards the Silver Sin. Once he has reached the telepathic range, Pinky almost yells in his mind,

Meridian:
"Sonofa...Mer I did not see anything else other than that bloated bag of water out there. Still, there might be someone else either controlling or guiding these elementals somehow. I am gonna find 'em."

He then flies off again.

Pinky is going to scan the area around the Silver Sin, and see if anyone else is out there, either a wizard or a druid type. He will use his telepathy and blindsense abilities to the fullest.
Perception 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (16) + 22 = 38

EDIT: Yeah he would gladly take the benefits of a haste spell. A fly speed of 90' is a big help here.

Male Half elf. 3 Cavalier(Beast Rider)/Fighter

Everyone gets a +3 to attack rolls against the Water Elemental. I am so going to change my order later. I also forgot I changed my character around and had spirited charge.

Seeing that both he and Karsa had hurt the elemental he moves Scarto to attack again. Charging at the Elemental once more his blade at the ready.

Attack and Damage Rolls
Using Power Attack
1d20 + 25 ⇒ (13) + 25 = 382d10 + 70 ⇒ (10, 4) + 70 = 84

Those numbers seem odd to me. I so need a lance

Telepathic bond has an unlimited range once cast. You can be in another solar system and we can still mentally chat. Also I recommend stealth. Specifically invisibility if you have it. If not Meredian will cast in on you at the next available opportunity if you request.

Depending on the order of initiative, Half Dragons don't forget you have an additional attack since you're hasted. See the spoiler tag in my previous post.

Oh right, forgot about that. Then he would just fly by for the haste spell then. Not enough time for an invisibility spell, plus Pinky is kinda hoping to draw his attention out in the open, so the rest of the party can pound him. Don't worry, he can turn invisible on his own, he he.

Here is his Stealth roll. 1d20 + 41 ⇒ (3) + 41 = 44

This again, boils down to what order we went in, but If I had any inclination of your plan I would wait for you to get in range before I cast haste (assuming we're not already in range which I think we are)

Male Drow Noble Conjurer 3/ Master Specialist 10

Adin chooses a more classic spell next, a small red bead flies at the Air Elemental.

Fireball:

Reflex DC 21 for Half
10d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 1, 6, 1, 6, 1, 2, 1, 1) = 27

Haste is kinda wasted on spellcasters but will take it anyways in case things change.

Yeah we should easily be in range. Pinky spent last round flying back to him, a double move for 120'. He then gets the spell cast and flies off.

I know, That's why the half dragons were the targets and anyone else is simply bonus. Of course if the casters have to move than it's definitely beneficial.

Also I think the fireball is wasted on the creature with fire resistance if not immunity. How about I let you cast your spells without OOC commend and you do the same in return?

A) Isn't it a water elemental? B) I thought it had some kind of "lower planes" template. I based the guess on your description of what happened to my scorching rays.

Edit; Ray 1&3 hit. Ray one failed SR fail. the third hit, to no effect. That says Fire resist to me. It's distinctly possible that I'm just confused on what's happening.
