Shadow Assassin is still fine. ^^ It's not a class that I feel is particularly overpowered, so you don't have to worry that picking it will affect your chances.
To clarify, mmm... I think of "standard classes" as ones that are designed to fulfill one or two roles at a reasonable level of power. Pathfinder allows for a lot of variety, and different party roles are important, so many 3rd party materials fall into my concept of what a standard class is like. Classes focused on utility and support of some sort are particularly agreeable, since there's less worry about completely breaking the system. As I mentioned before, my real concern is seeing to it that we don't end up with one person doing the majority of the work. That wouldn't be very fun for everyone else - and this is also a major part of the reason why I'm asking people to gestalt for different roles instead of making a single role much more powerful. ^^

GM Rednal |
Godling's fine. ^^ Seriously, don't worry about it - I actually really enjoy that class.
*Rubs chin*
To talk to everyone... don't worry TOO much about the classes. If you're concerned that it will be too strong, just ask about it and I'll tell you whether or not going for it would hurt your chances. ^^

GM Rednal |
Any general fantasy setting will do for backgrounds. ^^ It doesn't need to be a particular place, really - just somewhere that would support your backstory.
I do value characterization and personality, and writing a backstory can really help figure that out. ^^ Make it as long as you think it should be in order to properly explain your character.

GM, if I were to pick a Psionic class, would it be possible to have the Souleater class progress Psionic progression rather than +1 spellcaster level?
I'm asking because when I look at my original Sorcerer/Ranger/Souleater build, it doesn't work that well, and I would like to try and use Psionics or Divine instead. The one thing I'd like to know is if Psionics is an option, mostly if it can be treated like a standard spellcasting class for advancing the Psionic casting.

GM Rednal |
Yes, I will allow Psionics as an option for such benefits. ^^ The transparency between magic and psionics seems like it would reasonably support that kind of thing.
Just keep in mind that you can't advance powers per day (or powers known, since Psionics are spontaneous) past your character level - you'd be getting things waaaaaaay too early if you could.

Alright, I have decided on a Drow-Blooded Half-elf Wild Shadow Ranger/Rogue. Silver skinned ^.^ Just because, but will be martially/skill oriented. Able to do switch between being scout, main hitter, and trap finder. Plus, Wild shadow doesn't have an animal companion so that will work great. No worries about it.
Will probably want to build a park for comfort. Debating on male or female.

Jazzai Moonbreaker |

Oh, will do. Ill make sure to incorporate that into the build.
What's sad is what caught my eye was being able to take the drow spellcasting abilities. Some of those are really nice..... oh well will look into trapfinding and such first.

Crunch is still WIP but I'm making headway. Settled on a Human Adept Godling//Mighty Godling. I will be wearing heavy armor and using a THW , my role will be tanking and self buffing off the wizard/sorcerer spell list. Taking Strength domain at 1st level.
Cordeth's personality will be that of a young gung-ho warrior who wants to rush in and challenge himself, he is CG and will protect the party at all costs and is accepting of all people, he is socially inept and aloof, due to his bizarre nature that made him an outcast of normal society.

Hetra Karet |

Fear.
Of what?
Of those who threaten me.
Fear.
This is the alias for my Souleater build, which is still under construction. Character background is somewhat done, though it is fairly vague, which I like since it won't matter a lot about what the specifics of Hetra's history will be. Crunch will be figured out soon.
One thing I do want to say: he will be focused on the capturing souls aspect of the Souleater. Please tell me if this is going to be an issue now, since I don't want it to interfere with the party at all. He will try to be TN in alignment, as he doesn't actively want to inflict pain on his opponents, merely augment himself and hide himself from the rest of the world. If you guys want me to switch to a different class than the Souleater, if it wouldn't work with the party, I'll accept that and change his build to something else, probably Wilder/X.

GM Rednal |
How they react is really up to other players. If you'd prefer to mitigate the chances of someone taking offense, I'd be willing to help you reskin it into something that others might be more comfortable with (and also reflect your alignment) - perhaps along the lines of using the souls as a power source as a sort of purgatory, after which they're released for judgment? And for more moral acceptance, the souls could willingly accept it, since it would lower any punishment in the afterlife or something.

Hetra Karet |

I feel like it might be better as I'm not using souls, but latent life energy from the corpses just for reflavouring? That way it isn't really Evil, and reflects the character better. He doesn't wants souls, per se, so much as drawing as many things to him in order to protect himself from the world.
That might require reflavouring the Cacodaemon familiar a bit, but I wouldn't mind that much, if it means the party doesn't have any alignment issues.

Jack Speed-Runner |

@Hetra, I wouldn't take offense to that, as I think it is interesting, but I'm only one player of many, still respect the DMs wishes.
As far as evil characters, I'm okay with working with evil characters, I have in the past, even as a good character and it worked out fine, but it can be hard to pull off.

Phaenox |

Gah, I just lost my CS due to the stupid timing out of Paizo. I'll get it done before the deadline.
Should I consider getting rid of darkvision, or keep it? Thinking of keeping it, as we are dungeon delving, but just curious.
Also, we get FCB for both classes, but one must be skill/hit point, right?

GM Rednal |
You get FCB for more than one class at each level IF you have a power that allows it. However, you can only select one option (from however many favored classes you have) that is not HP or a skill point. ^^
As for darkvision... well... you will be in a dungeon, and won't always have natural light. XD Keeping that or getting rid of it is ultimately up to you.

Rednal! This looks like a lot of fun! I'm thinking of restatting Shauldrek for this when I get back to my computer. I'm thinking Inquisitor/Samurai. He'll follow Draghignazzo, the demon deity of monsters. He'll have to be CN pretty much a debuff/mounted melee type deal.
PS: this is Rory Dunne's player from the last grimoire

One thing I noticed:
As mentioned for someone else, keep in mind that abilities like Magic is Magic will not let you combine your caster levels above your character level, since you would get many spells far too early. ^^
Would it allow you to raise your effective caster level over your character level in terms of duration/effects and so on, as there are many other feats and powers that do this.

GM Rednal |
No, it wouldn't. There are indeed powers and abilities that allow you to raise your effective caster level, but a full twice your character level (even in a gestalt game, assuming you're a full caster the whole time) is a little much. Most powers will make you pay for every increase (the Arcanist's Arcane Pool), use a dice roll (Legendary Items), or have a fixed and relatively low benefit (Tenebrous Spell). It's not quite as bad for a support character, but it would still be very easy to make yourselves all but invincible if many buffs could be supercharged that much, and I am planning to make this a challenging environment. The further I have to adjust things, though, the more likely it is I'll accidentally go way too far and throw you a challenge that's not actually fair. XD;
Oh, and for everybody, today is the last day for submissions. Those who would like to join should at least submit a complete character idea, even if the crunch isn't totally done. The game's also very open to bringing new characters in, especially if someone does drop out - so if you'd still like to play if you aren't chosen, I can put you (and your character) on a waiting list and see if you're still interested later. ^^ Players who submitted characters during this application phase will have priority over those who didn't.

GM Rednal |
It is theoretically possible to use a combination of abilities and effects to get your caster level that high, but you'd either have to spend many abilities focusing on that or get lucky with the dice rolls. To put it another way, either you pay a lot more or you leave it to chance - both are much more fair than getting such a huge benefit from one power. ^^

Hetra Karet |

Alright, so somewhat finalized submission is here. Backstory is locked, and I just need to calculate everything out for Hetra's stats.
He's ending up as a Trapper Ranger/Wilder, since I like the Wild Surge ability thematically for him. While focused, he's going to expand his knowledge a bit through the Wilder's FCB, but it will be entertaining to see it happen.

sarpadian |
Ryn Boril (Monk/Sorcerer) - ???/??? - Sarpadian
The role of my monk side is offense; my sorcerer side is primarily for buffing, utility, and debuffs. My bloodline arcana allows for accomplishing the debuffing via blasts (one target of a cold spell is slowed), so there will be some blasting as well. I'll get a back story of some sort up today, and then the only thing lacking is buying more gear.
