Ok, So here is what I'm thinking at building a precision based Magus/Fighter who will move into duelist. Going with a sort of Bleach feel. Not that its a big deal one way or the other, but how do you feel about third party magus arcana abilities? Its not a big deal one way or the other, just thought I'd ask. Here is a link to my character submission. I'll create a profile for him later today. Kekual Nox

Its the knee jerk response because errata has stated that they are natural abilities that have the same effect as spells but are not spells themselves. I only bring this up to let you know why they do it. I personally think that the errata ruling is silly because what is magic beyond the harnessing of an unknown source and channeling it in a meaningful manner. That's exactly what spell-like abilities do, rather than training though, you naturally could do it.
So what are your thoughts on an alchemist bomber? I know that's less arcane caster and more explosion, but it seems like your looking for some ranged damage. In any case: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 4) + 6 = 16
So, this is my idea of for the demon, but I don't quite have much fleshed out yet to for the martial artist. I'm thinking I'll go full Shaolin with an unarmed combat style emphasizing long lashing strikes like that of an octopus. The Demon Jìmò: Long ago there was a giant octopus known as Jìmò. Through a series of events he gained a minor sense of awareness. Jìmò began to think and ponder about the world. On a regular bases he would call the animals that lived near his ocean bay home to counsel with him and share what knowledge they had learned. Some of the lesser animals were quick to share, but their contributions were almost always the same. “The grass is good. The air is warm. I like the sun.” These animals quickly bored Jìmò and the octopus began to ignore them and their mindless thoughts. The wiser animals offered him more interesting ideas to ponder, but were given little in return for their thoughts and thus began to visit the octopus less and less. Driven by his desire to understand something of the world beyond his home, Jìmò became quite frustrated. While he was free to ponder his own thoughts, he was trapped and unable to learn anything of the world beyond his ocean home. As this frustration consumed him, time passed on. Jìmò fell into a deeper and deeper brooding. Soon he became jealous of the animals of land and air. He began to call animals together to meet and council. Each time however, he would lure them close to the water’s edge and drown them with his mighty arms. After all, if he could not experience life, why should he allow others too? As the years progressed, fewer and fewer animals came to Jìmò and he turned his frustration to the villages of humans that resided up and down the coast. He took great pleasure in swimming to port towns and consuming the villagers or crushing the mighty ships of the heavenly empire. His actions however, did not go unnoticed. The heavenly army was assembled and the octopus was brought to face his crimes. Rather than destroy his soul or torture him for eternity, Jìmò was forced to return to his home as a human and would not be able to return his true form without making the needed restitutions to the people he had harmed. The catch however: he would have no memory of his previous actions.
Ok, So I have pretty much everything stat wise fleshed out for Taranis Nox. He is a Mighty/Adept Godling focusing on tanking with some back up healing. I'll have to transfer the information to a profile, but here is a link to the Google Spreadsheet. Taranis Nox.
So, I'll have to flesh out my back story, but I'm looking at a Gunslinger(Musket Master/Gun Scavenger)/Inquisitor of Besmara. Gun Scavenger is more for flavor than abilities, since I'd be experimenting with the idea of a pepperbox on a rifle, I feel like the gun scavenger would fit that idea of mixing gun styles idea. The inquisitor half rooting more in religious beliefs for a dhampir knowing that here he wouldn't be judged for being an abomination to the living. @Ashvale: Don't know if its approved, but you might like to try: Apex Warrior. One of the options is to have a dragon affinity and have a faerie dragon, pseudodragon, or Small drake as an animal companion as well as some draconic abilities for you.
Just looking to set up a rifle or a pepper box rifle. I think its interesting that the pepperbox rifle is an advanced fire arm and the pepperbox pistol is an early firearm. I feel like the biggest difference in the two weapons is one is a pistol and a person would need to transfer the idea of a rotating barrel from a pistol to a rifle. I'm looking at playing a dhampir (Vetala-Born) or if you would prefer a dwarf. In either case, I am looking at having the back story of having been in a guild that mass produced firearms for its members. Having probably seen the pepperbox pistol, I'd be tinkering to see if the idea of lots of barrels on a single gun could be applied to rifles.
How do you feel about Priests? Or, are there any 3rd-party full divine casters that you would approve? I couldn't find any in the core or advanced books. everything divine is partial and I was thinking of building a divine monk or something to that extent.
So just another question. I'm looking at "gun's everywhere" and can see that with it gunslingers lose gunsmith and gain gun training at level 1. If we take a variant like pistolero or musket master should we lower the level bonus by one to even it out (lvl 1: gain dex bonus, 5: reduce penalty on misfire from 4 to 2, 9: never misfire? Or keep the never misfire at lvl 13?

oh the truespeaker change is a variant for the skill bonuses the race gives. So normally you would have a +2 Diplomacy and Perception, but instead you have a +2 Linguistics and Sense Motive and gain 2 languages for every linguistics point.
Survey for Applicants *What is your posting availability like? What do you like in terms of pace for PbP?
Yeah, some of the variants just give little flavour things like being able to tell if someone is pregnant or being able to survive on nothing but ash, but others can get OP like stat bonuses, perfect darkvision like a devil, being able to fly, and using weapons one size category larger like normal. I'm mostly interested in the variant bloodlines like Archon-Blooded. I think it would be fun to play the child of a Hound Archon. I was thinking going Weapon Master Fighter focused on Great sword (Hound Archon Weapon of Choice). Stat bonus changes from Cha to Con and the SLA is comparable changing daylight to continual flame (both 3rd level spells). I was thinking of changing the skill bonus out for the variant option: Truespeaker (+2 bonus on Linguistics and Sense Motive checks, and they learn two languages each time they gain a rank in Linguistics) to simulate a weaker version of the Archon's truespeak ability. Its not a super big deal but I thought it would add more character without having to create a huge background.
But isn't that really what modding the feats is? Two weapon fighting mythic removes your penalties. Power attack damage scales better. Cleave here is basically mythic cleave. I'm just saying, most mods to the feats could easily be pulled from mythic if we wanted. At the very least it gives us a starting point. Or they could be used as feat upgrades: you used feat X for so long, you now have the mythic version. Sven the Red has not participated in any online campaigns. |
