Aiiigh! Mean brutes they are
Fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
and it stings! POSION
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Jack looks upon the nasty creatures before them and quickly sees that it is no good trying to strike the creature with his cutlass while it is still in the water. Warily, Jack steps back, and then feigns to stumble over Tap's bucket. Sensing its moment to strike, the creature lunges up onto the rough uneven coral, reaching out with its crab like claws. Suddenly, Jack spins about, swinging his masterwork blade in a wide arc down toward the creature's horrid frame.
bluff: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 Should be +4, for total of 1d6+5 because of slashing grace. first time fighting with cutlass, so forgot.
What is the to-hit? just to help me write narrative
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
If Jack is attacked in the following round, he would like expend one panache to attempt Opportune Parry and Riposte
Str damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1
1 str damage to Tap. The poison continues for 3 more rounds, but you can try a save DC13 every round. One success means the poison is gone.
FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map
Str damage reduces my strength, correct?
Tap looks down at the gash the reefclaw left, feels strength ebb from the wound. Gah, I doubt we will get to eat any of this either.
End: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Jack watches in sloooooow moooooooo as his blade swings in a wide-arc and glances off of the creatures armored body.
Damn. I hope Arden, Kerruk and Rosie can do better than I. Tap does not look so well.
looking for vulnerabilities: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Male Human (Garundi) Shaman 2 Rogue 2
Will I smite any of my colleagues if I use Colour Spray?
You can, but due to the range of the spell, you'd have to swim out a bit, leaving the shallow part of the reef
Rosie snarls and brandishes a well crafted handaxe. She chops down viciously at the Reefclaw attacking Taptap.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Short of getting these things on land somewhow, you don't see any real weaknesses
Male Human (Garundi) Shaman 2 Rogue 2
So be it
Swim: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Kerruk lunges out from the reef with a howl. Colours coalesce wildly in the air above him before organising themselves into an iridescent cone that gathers round his frantic fingers before being hurled at the horrid creatures. May the stars strike you down, abominations!
Reefclaw will save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Reefclaw will save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Male Human (Garundi) Shaman 2 Rogue 2
DC 14, so close! Got one, in any case.
Every little bit helps!
One of the reefclaws seems taken by the power of the spell, and it stops its swimming, stunned immobile.
Arden's up, then Taptap again
FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map
Oy hai!
Feel the dream, fill your sight
the clawed fish drift off to die
Is it my go? I cast SLEEP on the stunned and the awake fishies. DC14
Yup, it will be...if Arden doesn't post by morning I will roll for her. The sleeping fishy is the one attacking her...though it would still be awake when she acts
Arden's attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Will save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Figured that you took a 5 foot step to avoid AOO...step or swim, whatever you call it
Edit - forgot the stunned fishy
Will save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map
The alert reefclaw attacks!
attack1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
grapple: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
attack2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
grapple: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Not enough Kava! Everyone else is up
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Who did the reefclaw attack?
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Disappointed but unrelenting, Jack renews his attack, growling, I shall slice thee, I shall dice thee, and then I shall cook thee in a roiling sea
attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map
Are you gonna bluff, Jack?
Sorry - it was attacking Tap again, meaning it had to take a 5 foot step to reach. You can easily flank it as it goes after Tap
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Little confused, re
*Given that the fishy got on the reef the first time, after Jack's first bluff, do I need to do it again?
*No map, so not sure how all positioned. You are saying Jack (or Kerruk?) can flank the fishy?
If necessary
bluff: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Sorry, yes - you have to sort of tease it up each time to get a good shot at it. Correct, you both could flank in fact. Its head is aimed straight at Tap
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Okay, Jack moves to flank.
arden: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
rosie: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Arden strikes at the Reefclaw with an overhand chop, but the water distorts the creature's form and her attack misses.
Rosie attacks from the other side, slashing down with her axe. The strike hits, but with questionable efficacy as the water slows the blade.
Kerruk is up
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Will just roll again for next go-around. Adjust as needed.
bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 (charmed life/1 +2 bonus)
attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28 (bluff successful + successful flank)
damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Male Human (Garundi) Shaman 2 Rogue 2
Kerruk thrusts a shortspear at the reefclaw he'd stunned, but, unused to fighting whilst floundering around, his wild jab goes wide, and he almost goes under the water.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 4
FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map
Fortitude: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20 Taptap shakes off the sting in his arm.
Attack/Damage: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 241d1d3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
CritConfirm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 :(
Gah Rah Blah Saw. I'm gonna eat you raw. and with that Taptap strikes with a mean thrust of his dagger.
The reefclaw lets out an odd, burbling squeal, and rips at Taptap with its claws once again.
attack1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
grapple: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
attack1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
grapple: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Additional constrict damage: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6
10 total damage to Taptap! Please roll 2 more Fort saves DC13. Both Tap and the Reefclaw now gain the grappled condition
FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map
Fortitude: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Fortitude: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
So that is 13 damage to Taptap in battle...5 hp left.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Tap, retreat a bit and rest! Sing thou with thy mighty voice and let us retire this mess.
FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map
With a woosh Taptap manages to gasp Retreat? Do you not see the great claw grappling me, and I it?
this will get me killed
Tap bunches his muscles and grips the smelly clawed creature in a (baby) bear hug.
But it is also grappled by me. Kill it while it cannot move well!
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
I think you can use Escape Artist ability in saving throw
FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map
Escape Artist to escape grappled condition is 1 standard action...so next round maybe. Besides, it is grappled now too (-4 to Dexterity), so might as well take advantage of it.
Male Human (Garundi) Shaman 2 Rogue 2
Kerruk turns from the stunned Reefclaw - Never turn your back on a foe, idiot! But Tap's in trouble... - and thrusts again with his spear at the creature grappling Tap.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 + 2 = 24
Dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 3
His spear jabs at the writhing beast, breaching the carapace, but not deeply.
Flanking bonus=2, right?
Go ahead and confirm crit...you may have him
Male Human (Garundi) Shaman 2 Rogue 2
Forgot about the crit
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 2 = 7
Dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Well, dang.
Arden slams down with another overhand stike, this time with an open palm on its back.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
The palm strike cracks through the reefclaw's sturdy shell, and yellow/green fluid leaks out as the creature dies. Seemingly from a death spasm, the creature releases its grip on Taptap and lashes out wildly with its claws.
Attack Jack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Attack Kerruk: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
One claw slashes Jack, before the dying creature turns belly up.
Gotta love the death frenzy. Jack, please roll DC13 Fort save. Nowx the other one - its stunned, so AC is 11
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
fortitude: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 [charmed life/2]
Jack's jaw drops as Arden punches through the critter's shell. Don't cross that one!. Slime oozes out of the wound. Suddenly, the creature begins to convulse wildly, its appendages whipping around in a frenzy. Suddenly, Jack feels something slap hard and cutting against his neck. Jack feels dizzy, but the feeling passes. I thought it was dead...
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Is this other one in the water? Are we all in position to attack?/flank?
FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map
Attack/Damage: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 2 = 121d3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Assuming I can flank.
Arrr!
Male Human (Garundi) Shaman 2 Rogue 2
Kerruk swivels back to strike at the stunned Reefclaw.
Die, you dreadful spawn of the deeps!
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 1
His spear barely scrapes the hard shell of the thing, and he howls in frustration.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Assuming I can't bluff because its stunned, but I'll roll anyway
bluff: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 Assuming +2 flank, -2 penalty for water. if bluff,+2
damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 (halve that, assuming no bluff)
Arden and Rosie both attack.
Arden: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Rosie: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
