FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

Jack, don't kill the idiot. Bruise him up good though. Gotta teach them all we're in charge now!

Kerruk’s untrained but accurate blows rain down on the Halfling with great effect, as the smaller figured is taken completely off-guard by the brutality of the attack.

mechanics:
Crit confirm: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6additional damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2

Taptap’s rousing song sounds out with unearthly clarity, and his companions are bolstered by his words, however odd they may be. His step, though puts his back to one of the sixteen pillars that support the deck above. It seems another step back is out of the question.

Arden swiftly darts in to launch blows at the big half-orc, her hands flying with blurring speed. The half-orc, for all his meaty limbs and clumsy appearance, matches her speed with two deft blocks, the second turning into a parry that nearly leaves Arden’s arm out and across her body, allowing for a slip and counter by the big fellow. However, he just steps back and grins, obviously enjoying the momentary advantage.

Aside from the hammocks and the pillars to which they’re tied, there’s little of use here. There are small footlockers set aside for each of the crewmembers, which can be treated as small chests.

Jack’s next attack plunges his dagger deeply into the meat under Fipps’ arm, and the fat man howls in pain. His eyes glaze for a moment, as if he fights the urge to faint. But, no stranger to pain, he refocuses and attacks in renewed fury!

The pirates attack!:
Attack Jack 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20Damage Jack 1: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Attack Jack 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7Damage Jack 2: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Attack Taptap: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20Damage Jack 2: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Jack takes 3 damage and Taptap takes 2 - all nonlethal. Everyone's up! Starting with Kerruk

Kerruk continues to belabour the Halfling.

Is that +1 to damage as well, thanks to Tap!

YEP!!!

Male Human (Garundi) Shaman 2 Rogue 2

ALRIGHTY THEN! Let's make that TWO damage! Keep it coming TapTap!

Female Half-Elf Unchained Monk / 2

Going in low to try and use the half-orc's weight against him, Arden snaps off two punches against her opponent. Her face devoid of any emotion, though her brown eyes smoulder with aggression.

Flurry of Blows: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 101d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Flurry of Blows: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 111d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

Grunting in pain from the fat man's blow, Jack looks crossed eyed at the man, and then, moves in to attack with the butt of his dagger.

Taking -2 penalty; not giving up control of knife

attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
dmg: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 non-lethal

Kerruk Taptap Arden jack

Kerruk's fists rain down on the smaller pugilist again, and the halfling growls in frustration as he wipes blood from his lips.

Though Kerruk's strikes hit home, his companions' do not. Taptap swats at his opponent with his small fist, but the blow hits harmlessly on the pirate's shoulder. Arden's blows, while deft and swift, thus into the half-orc's belt, the tough leather absorbing some of the impact, and its ample belly the rest. Jack, meanwhile, turns the dagger and tries to club the portly Fipps, only to have the big man stop the blow with a meaty forearm.

The Pirates attack back!

mechanics:
attack 1 Jack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 111d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
attack 2 Jack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 101d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

c'mon friends
Tap rephrases

The only thing that's gonna happen is i'mma get to clapping

attack: 1d20 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 2 + 1 + 1 = 12 dmg: 1d2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 1 = 5

With that Tap slams a fist into his assailant for a fiver.
ha!

Male Human (Garundi) Shaman 2 Rogue 2

Fuming, Kerruk flings himself into the combat, attacking with even greater fury.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Had enough yet?

Arden sets to attacking her foe once again, her fists flying out at blinding speed.

mechanics:

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Her first punch goes high, and the half orc puts his arms up to block, only to have Arden's second blow thus into his chest with the loud crack of a rib. The half orc grunts in pain and doubles over.

Jack swings at his enemy, once again trying to bludgeon the fat pirate into submission with the butt of his weapon.

4th round of inspire..(Kerruk still enjoying the 3rd)
add +1 to attack and dmg rolls

attack/dmg: 1d20 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 2 + 1 + 1 = 201d2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 1 = 5

Blood splatters in Taps face.

It'll be a long time coming
But you got the message now
'Cause I was never going
Yeah, you're the one that's going down

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

If Taptap knocked this pirate out, and can take a safe five foot step or move action to flank one of my companion's opponents, I'd like to do that.

Male Human (Garundi) Shaman 2 Rogue 2

Kerruk, now humming somewhat inanely to Tap's performance, lunges forward and hammers at the Halfling's arms and head, trying to finish him.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Give it up, blackguard!

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

Note thou how my comrades rumble;
give it up and let no man grumble
let us now friends forever be
but thou willt more humble be!

Tap's brand of lyricism must be rubbing off on me
Jack swings again, attempting to do non-lethal damage.
attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

Jack intends to attempt an Opportune Parry and Riposte

attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
dmg: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

Landing with a small grunt, Taptap glances over at Jack who was looking x-eyed after getting punched in the face
Jack is doing his best to handle two brutes...I'll have to see if I can help him out

Female Half-Elf Unchained Monk / 2

Arden stares at the injured half-orc, her arms tense and her fists raised.

The Lady of Graves should receive this one...

Is the half-orc down and out?

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

I do not think so.

Arden, her confidence bolstered by the hit on her opponent, levels two more strikes at him.

mechanics:
attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

Those pirates are gonna have some bruises for sure. Looking to Jack's bleeding opponent. I may have to offer a healing spell to that one...as a peace offering. We live on the same ship after all.

Kerruk and Taptap both score hits on their opponents, and both pirates stumble slightly under their respective barrages before regaining their senses. Each seems to be doubting his present course of action, now that the opposition seems so fierce.

Arden's first attack is a duck and uppercut that takes her opponent completely off guard. The half-orc's head whips back nearly hard enough to rip it from its moorings at the base of his broad shoulders. Her second hit misses, as the big fellow is already tilting back at a 45 degree angle to the wooden planks of the floor. He crashes down loudly.

Jack throws a quick jab that lands on Fipps' nose, and the fat man grunts and shakes his head like a dog with a bone.

The Pirates attack!

mechanics:
attack Jack1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
attack Jack2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

attack Taptap: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

Sigh. I'm guessing Jack's parry failed. How much damage did Jack take? Jack only had 5 hp remaining. Is there a way Jack can back up, so that he faces only one opponent?

Alas, Fipps was attack 1, so the party did not work. I think you retain the panache point, as far as I can tell. 3 damage to Jack and 2 to Taptap, still nonlethal. Everyone's up!

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

Attack/Damage: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 141d2 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Thoroughly enjoying the brawl, Tap launches a kick up and into the pirate's ribs, and follows this with a punch to the jaw.
Arden, aid Jack!

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

Anywhere I might safely somersault to safety?

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

that might depend on how Kerruk rolls this round
Tap watches as his opponent slumps to the ground.
We'll be good friends in the future, I am sure of it.

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

Grimacing, and no longer laughing, Jack strikes back at Fipps, an upper cut that that lands so solidly that Jack lets out an audible gasp of satisfaction.
attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
critical check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
dmg: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
dmg: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Jack plans to retry the parry and reposte against his other opponent, should he be attacked.

parry: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
riposte: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
dmg: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

Jack sure has some panache
Fipps! You have somewhere to be?
Is Fipps bleeding to death?

Male Human (Garundi) Shaman 2 Rogue 2

Kerruk, fists flying in an increasingly wild and unschooled blur springs to the attack again.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

This time it doesn't come off: a double fisted blow to the sternum of the Halfling is parried easily.
I must calm down. As peaceful and remote as the silver stars.

Arden, her opponent having fallen, nimbly slips across behind a pirate to swing at the remaining man attacking Jack.

mechanics:
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

AreArden and I now flanking our opponent? If not, can Jack take a 5-foot step to do so? I take it the flanking bonus is only to attack rolls, right?

Taptap's opponent falls backwards limply, his eyes rolled back to the whites. Though Kerruk and Arden both miss their targets, Jack's solid hit on Fipps seems to knock the fight right out of the entire group. The fat ringleader slumps to the ground to lay in a disheveled pile of clothing and unwashed limbs.

Kerruk's opponent, having already taken a serious beating, puts his hands up as his shoulders slump in defeat. His lone remaining partner, the other pirate facing Jack, sneers at the defeated halfling, then looks back to Jack. Aye, looks like ye've won this one.

The Pirates remain tense, as if expecting further attacks.

Well done! 1,200 XP each for the battle and for surviving your first day and night aboard the wormwood.

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

Panting, Jack considers these words, while positioning himself to flank the man opposite Arden.

Aye, it does so. And not only this one, but the next one too, and the one after that, for I will brook no challenge from any man, or woman, but that I will lay them flat, or worse. But come, let peace and camaraderie be between us; no lasting harm done, unless we will it so; for it is time to break our fasts on mealy bread, and perform our chores, however sore we may be. Quick! lest we all get the whip for our foolish play.

Grinning, Jack adds, My brother Tap here has the healing touch. He may be willing to give thee some relief for a small fee.

Male Human (Garundi) Shaman 2 Rogue 2

Kerruk lowers his hands, staring grimly at his opponent.
Perhaps you might consider this a lesson: we are better friends than enemies, yes? Let us make our peace.

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

Comrades. This was fun!!! Like wrestling with my brothers back home.
My name is TapTap. My friends call me Tap...and we beat the hell out of you all!

My friend X-eyed Jack; If he'd known that all you fine sailors wanted was some morning entertainment, he'd not have brought out his dagger.

Tap walks over to Fipps and leans down Poor Fipps got cut up good. He won't want to work the long day bleeding all over.

Taptap places a hand on Fipps.
Know that we hold no lasting ill-will towards you all...not yet anyway...and I take care of those whom I don't yet call my enemies.
Cast cure light wounds on Fipps cure: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13if appropriate

Male Human (Garundi) Shaman 2 Rogue 2

In sooth, we know that we must prove ourselves worthy shipmates. But we have proven ourselves worthy foes, at the least. Shall we not be comrades all?

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

Jack smiles, showing his teeth.
Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 8 + 2 for rascally charisma, I guess.

Male Human (Garundi) Shaman 2 Rogue 2

Maybe you shouldn't show those teeth, Jack!

Fipps groans as Taptap's magic surges through his body. He slowly gets up to a sitting position, shaking his head as if to clear the cobwebs.

The halfling who had been fighting Kerruk was the first to respond. With a grin, he holds out a hand to the man who had just been his opponent. Dey call me Ratline...Ratline Rattsberger; was a good fight, for sure. Ain't bad ta' have some new comrades dat can hold their own.

Nah, not bad at all. The man who had been fighting Jack alongside Fipps says, and nods to Jack. He's a slim man with thinning hair. Jack Scrimshaw's the name...err, at least that's what they call me. Can carve the stuff pretty good if given some time to ma'self....not like I'd find that on this tub.

The rough, scarred woman who had been engaged with Taptap coughs out some phlegm flecked with red, then stands, if a bit wobbly. Tilly Bracket here...nice shots there, little fella'.

Fipps grunts as he sees the exchanges, then scowls. Won this time mebbe, but ya' got a lot a' nerve on ya'...that won't get ya' far on the Wormwood!

The burly half-orc remains on the ground, unmoving.

results:
Ratline Rattsberger - turned from Indifferent to Friendly
Tilly Bracket - turned from Indifferent to Friendly
Jack Scrimshaw - turned form Indifferent to Friendly
Fipps Chumlett - turned from Hostile to Unfriendly
Jaundiced Jape - napping
800 XP

Male Human (Garundi) Shaman 2 Rogue 2

Kerruk extends his own hand and shakes that of Ratline firmly.
Well met, then, Ratline. Well met, all of you. I am Kerruk Gahar.
He turns to Fipps Chumlett, peering down at him coolly. It seems we are both afflicted with an excess of nerve, Master Chumlett. 'twas not we who attacked strangers fresh out of sleep...well, you know us now, yes? And as for 'getting far on the Wormwood', that remains to be seen. But you've made enough snap judgements for one day, no?
Kerruk then produces his smile, startlingly broad and engaging.
Come, Master Chumlett, if we cannot be friends, let us agree at least to respect one another as foes well-measured 'gainst one another?

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

Sheathing his knife, Jack shakes hands with the balding man. Well met.

Then turning, Enough. Friends, the day is now longer than it was when the sun arose. Verily my knuckles are numb, and I still must gut the fish for Master Fishguts for the evening meal. Off we go, to do our duties. We drink together in the even.

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

Good. By the By. If your duties are fatiguing, come seek me in the eve. .

Fipps grunts out a response, then gets slowly to his feet, still obviously not up to his full health. He waves his meaty mitts to stave off any offered assistance, then turns to begin climbing up to the main deck, leaving your newfound friends and the unconscious half-Orc in the lower berth.

With glances at the fallen figure of one "Jaundiced Jape", the other Pirates turn and follow, your words about their daily duties resonating with them. At the top of the steps to the main deck, Sandara greets you. The typically quite attractive woman is sweaty, her face red with anger, effort, or both. The misguided fools stopped me from coming down. It was very nearly their last mistake. C'mon; Plugg is waiting for the days orders..

You notice that the muscular halfling woman, Rosie, seems angry as well - either she was trying to press her way through like Sandara or she was trying to stop the woman.

On the main deck, the other pirates are gathering, and Plugg, already in a foul mood, paces in front, waiting for everyone to assemble. The morning sun is already hammering down mercilessly on the ship.

perception DC15:
You note a look of disgust on Plugg's face as he sees Fipps and notes the fat man's downturned face.

oops I meant to edit my last post to add the perception check. so my daily task is 5, not the 1 here.

Taps task:
Runner - running messages back and forth the Wormwood in all parts of the ship except officers’ cabins, requiring a DC 10 Acrobatics check and DC 10 Constitution check. Failing the Constitution check results in the PC being
fatigued at the end of the shift. A PC with the Run feat 5 automatically succeeds at this task.

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

Spoiler:
Hey Rosie. How are you? I was just about to run a message down to a man in the bilges to bring up the barrel of hard tack, but the quartermaster also needs me to run of to tell Mister Plugg that they are low on salted fish, and needs some nets cast...I'm fairly out of breath. Mind taking that message down to the bilges for me? I'll owe you one.

Tap works diligently as a runner today. Enough trouble for one day
