TapTap |

Tap nods at Kerruk in agreement. Grinning evilly up at Jack, Tap says loudly, You are a scoundrel Jack...and your balls are small...else they were cut off by Fishguts and thrown in the evening's stew...
Tap winked. This will be fun.

xeyed-jack |

Jack laughs heartily, clapping little Tap on the back. A fine jest, and not too off the mark, for I know not what went into that stew. But not another word of insult will I bear from thee, lest my temper gets the better of me; nor, with all respect to our Kerruk here, do I think it so wise to simulate dissension. For one thing, there is more to fear on this ship than our prison guards. The other inmates aboard may see in a friendless swab an easy mark for some thuggery. Better that all know we here stand firm for one another, but taking care that the captain and Plugg find no cause for alarm. So let us put all jests aside, and make an oath to stand with one another until our enslavement comes to its end. But where is our lithesome maid, who climbs so well? Will she not come to join our party?

GM Nayr |

Sandara affixes Jack with a look of intensity, a faint reflection of the pale moon above giving her eyes an eerie glow. One corner of her mouth turns up slightly, then shakes her head in admonishment. Why, Jack, with words that honeyed, I nearly feel that the rum may be drinkable tonight. But a dance...I fear not; I'm afraid you'd not take well to my leading. She winks and puts a hand to her hip as she waves
Assuming Arden's curiosity draws her closer as well forward with a gloved hand.
She takes out a long-handled clay pipe and gives it a few taps. A light for a tale anyone? But first... She motions with her head a canvas sack near her feet, filled with a few unidentifiable items.
Inside is one item for each PC - pick any item from your character sheet, but be smart about it - a halberd may not be the most concealable choice.
She smiles again. I long ago figured out that Grok is overly superstitious. I told her these items were cursed, and that she didn't want to anger the mighty Pirate Queen, for Besmara can be a vindictive witch. She raises a hand to the skull and crossbone necklace around her neck, then puts it back down. S'how I got my gear back as well...but I think she's on to me now...
Much the same for many of us Taptap...or Tap if I may. Been here a bit over a week, but the same story; I was taken at Port Peril. Think my days may be numbered though... She casts a glance at the group of officers huddled together far from the common swabs. Last night, I had to make sure that the smelly beast, Scourge, knew that I didn't much like his attentions...by force.
She grins at Kerruk. Well now, you bunch will make fine pirates indeed...already thinkin' like 'em. I don't know where we're headed...not sure any of us that aren't officers know.

TapTap |

On second thought...
Kerruk. In fact Jack and I are of the same mind on this...although i did enjoy my jest. I think I understand the reflex towards secrecy, but I wonder if you are wrong here. Let me explain my thinking. What advantage is there to keeping our alliance secret? If one of us gets in trouble, the others can escape harm? What is the point of an alliance if that alliance cannot exert power and influence. Is it to avoid alarming the captain and his officers? They are just the most powerful of gangs on this tub. BUT There are other gangs on the Wormwood; cliques and alliances fighting for smaller advantages and rewards.
Tap pauses for a second.
Implanted spies are useful sure, but we are too few. Kerruk, if we look friendless, we will seem weak...and easy to kill. Where is the advantage in that? Visible strength should be our first imperative.
I am not wise, nor that smart. We are already making friends on board. If we are united, we can grow before we get crushed.
Please treat as posted before GM post

TapTap |

Turning away from Scourge's direction,Thank you Sandara.
Looking down, Ahh my snagnet. Excellent. I've no training in its use, but its not too hard to aim. I'd love to find my Da's halfling sling staff they stole from me, but I'd not be able to conceal it anyway.
Tap folds the snagnet and inserts in a deep pocket.

Kerruk Gahar |

Kerruk sighs...Perhaps you are right. But let us be cautious. I have only one skin and am minded to keep it! And thank you, Sandara. he adds, snagging a wooden amulet simply carved with several stars.
As for this fellow Scourge...he is a threat? I wonder if he might be dissuaded...or disembarked.
And suddenly Kerruk's bright eyes darken, and his teeth are bared in a slightly vicious grin. Then his face relaxes, and he shrugs.
we will wait and see what happens next. But let us promise to watch each others backs, yes?

GM Nayr |

It's safe to say that everyone is a threat on this tub, but Scourge and Plugg may be the worst. Scourge is Botswain and Master at arms; Plugg is first mate. I think the captain hand-picked them for their cruelty. Nothing seems to make them happier than does watching us suffer. They're powerful though...nothing like the power of the captain...but they're not to be trifled with...yet. We need to learn more about the ship and make more friends among the crew. It's who you know on this ship that keeps you alive.
She nods at Kerruk. Agreed.

Arden Cho |

Arden climbs down from the rigging to join the crew, deciding a night of carousing would not be unwelcome after a long day aloft. She stretches with sinuous grace and stifles a yawn with the back of her hand.
Accepting her rum ration from Cut-throat Grok, and a bowl of "food", she searches for the Halfling who greeted her. On seeing Tap she smiles, and gestures to slim patch of space beside him, "Mind if I join you?"
She sniffs suspiciously at the bowl before nodding a greeting to the halfling's companions.

TapTap |

Looking up, Hi Arden. How fared your 1st day on the ropes?
Tap paused.
Arden has been a recluse mostly. Would she join us?
Turning to Sandara. Arden is recently arrived also. She may also be interested in avoiding the affections of Scourge.

TapTap |

I'm a fool, but sometimes risks must be made. I instinctively trust Arden and Sandara.
Arden. We were discussing how us newcomers might stay alive. We are pledging to watch each other's backs, and to support the other in trial and tribulation so we may again taste freedom.
Turning to Jack.
In terms of the captain's officers, I see only one course of action.
leaning up close I wonder how well they ... at the last Tap made a swimming motion with his arms.
traps laid, plans made, and one by one until there are none.
I propose, 1) We visibly support the captain and his officers. 2)We plan on their demise. 3) We air a look of confidence and strength, but not of ambition. No need to make unneeded enemies. And finally, 4) Unless escape is an option, we should plan to take control of the Wormwood.
Now we see if any of these turns you into fishfood, Taptap.

Arden Cho |

Arden smiles politely at the compliment, and grimaces at the food. She looks accusingly at Jack, "Please tell me you had no hand in this poison?"
The girl appears to be too willing to help. This halfling would do well to be more cautious.
"The crow's nest is the best place to be on ship, my own island away from the chaos of the deck," she replies to Tap, smiling slightly, and then looks at Sandara, "Thank you, I am enjoying the work." Arden accepts the leather strap from Sandara, her suspicion turning to mild surprise as she realises it is her sling. "Thank you again."
"I plan to do my job Tap, and do it well. However, it would be nice to know that some of us are looking out for each other. I can see a lot of what happens on deck, so I am more than happy to be your eyes in the sky... so to speak."
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Arden is wary of Sandara, and observes her throughout the conversation. She also keeps a watch on their surroundings, especially if anyone is taking particular interest in them.

GM Nayr |

Sandara nods again. I think that could be a great boon, Arden. We'll have to be wary of who we approach on this ship, and someone watching from above would be a great help. She glances about the group swiftly, then offers only a single nod. Fair enough...then we look out for each other...now I have to make the rounds about to some of the others to try and keep them from getting suspicious. Remember, there are others on this ship who feel the way we do...there have to be. We just need to find them .
With another dashing smile, she spins away, her fiery red hair buffeted by the sea breeze.
Please let me know ship actions, if you'd like to take any.

Kerruk Gahar |

I have pushed my luck enough for one day, I think.
Kerruk is going to go to eat the unappealing slop, go to bed early and get some shut-eye. He intends to keep his head down as much as possible for now, as he has already drawn Plugg's attention.
Well met, Arden. I also will do what I can to watch over you. I am going to turn in early, I think. Let these fools believe I am both timid and tired. Stay safe.

xeyed-jack |

Safe sneaking brother Tap, if that is thy plan. I think I will rest this night, the better to learn from Master Fishguts, who I say, is better at his duty than you credit him; a pirate ship keeps not so well stocked a larder as might be wished. For myself, I am no cook, but will learn. And when the cold comes, I will be warm. When the rain comes, I will be dry. And always, will I be well-fed, for someone has to do the tasting! Give me now leave, to leave thee.
With that, Jack goes down, to his hammock, readying his knife for any unwelcome midnight visitations.

TapTap |

In fact Tap retires. I could use a sea shanty to help avoid exhaustion doing some nighttime exploring, but then people might hear me

TapTap |

Climbing into a cot some lob pointed him Tap to, Tap gratefully climbed in. As he began to nod off, Tap thought to himself ...I think I know how to become every sailor's favorite man on this tub...if I don't get shanked in my sleep first..

GM Nayr |

A night of rest does everyone well, though sleep isn't that easy in a crowded room of mostly unwashed sailor swinging in dirty hammocks. Still, the sway of the ship and the overwhelming fatigue of the day's work is enough to lull anyone to sleep.
As the day dawns, you can see that the hammocks have been completely emptied, but their inhabitants haven't gone far. Half a dozen of the pirates stand between the hammocks and the stairs leading up, while another few stand on the steps, watching both up and down the steps. The group in the crew berths, led by the fat man with the shaved head, stand, quite obviously, in the way of the route up.
The fat man, Fipps Chumlett as you learned last night from Sandara, glares at Jack and takes a confident step forward. He gives Jack a slight shove in the chest. Got somewhere ta' be?

Kerruk Gahar |

Assuming we're all present? Curious to know if I've had my spells prepared yet? Charm Person might be handy round about now. Although I'd not mind using Burning Hands on these clowns...
Well this is not my ideal start to the day. What do these buffoons want? As if I didn't know...Probably the Captain encourages this sort of nonsense to sort the wheat from the chaff.

Arden Cho |

Arden, up early and meditating quietly, opens her eyes to take in the scene. She stands and walks over to back Jack up. Staring at the fat man with her cold brown eyes, she says, "Are you compensating for your eensy-weensy manhood? Maybe we can remove the embarrassment for you, fat man?"
Intimidate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

Kerruk Gahar |

Oh my...this might not end too well. Still, I've made undertakings to these people.
Breathing a heavy sigh, Kerruk strides forward, hands held almost negligently at his sides.
Chipps Fumlett, isn't it? Haven't you you got somewhere to be? A tub like this doesn't exactly run itself, does it? In the meantime, get out of our way.
Intimidation: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

TapTap |

I'm sure Jack is on his way to make breakfast for the officers. Perhaps Jack can share with the officers why he was late?
intimidate: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
sense motive: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (12) - 2 = 10
dang

xeyed-jack |

SenseMotive: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Easy, my comrades. No doubt, Mr. Chumlett is here to make a recommendation to the kitchen. I hate to disappoint, but fish yesterday, fish today, and blimey, if it don’t look like fish agin tomorrow. Come let there be no enmity between us. In thee I keen a man who demands respect, but who values friendship! Our respect is given, but how can we earn thy friendship?
It looks like the god of luck is against us

TapTap |

oops I think that intimidate is -4 penalty for me because I'm so small...compared to this brute...damn being small sucks for that skill. So my roll is a 9.

GM Nayr |

Fipps snorts at Arden's words, and he offers a malicious grin in reply. The words of the others are largely lost on him; he is obviously looking for a fight. After snapping the knuckles of a meaty fist, he spurns his boys on, and attacks! C'mon boys! Le's teach dese swabs how's this ship s'posed ta' work!
Taptap: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Jack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Kerruk: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Arden: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
You are indeed all present, and your spells are indeed ready! Jack, you're up first; I will make a map tomorrow, but for now figure that you're directly in front of Fipps.

xeyed-jack |

Even as Fipps utters these words, Jack lunges forward with his dagger, quick as lightening. I serve thee a hot plate of Fipps and Chips. Thour shalt burn thy tongue!
Jack is armed with his small dagger (1d3) and his buckler.
attackroll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
I think I have a +4 dexterity modifier on the attack roll, and a -1 penalty because of the buckler. I'm new to the Pathfinder, so bear with me if I make any mistakes and correct me if I do! I'm with finesse,

TapTap |

Most of us would use the strength modifier, but because of your finesse feat and the fact you are using a light weapon, you will use Dext bonus instead. Unfortunately your two cutlass specific feats can't be applied yet. Also note, you are proficient with the buckler and should not take an armor check penalty for attack or damage rolls...you still have the armor check penalty against strength and dexterity SKILL checks...I'm new, but that is my reading.

TapTap |

xJackx: I might be wrong, but I think you can go ahead and roll for dmg. GM will ignore dmg if you missed, but it saves a step and keeps things moving.

TapTap |

Jack currently has a dagger, not a cutlass. At 1st level, a swashbuckler gains the benefits of the Weapon Finesse feat with light or one-handed piercing melee weapons, which applies to the dagger he is carrying. But his character is designed to be extra good with a cutlass. Jack took Slashing Grace for the cutlass, which when wielding the cutlass treats the cutlass as a light weapon, and he can then add his Dexterity modifier to that weapon's damage.

TapTap |

but you didn't add your bonuses +4 Dext.. So I think 1+4=5 dmg... Nevwrmind that was wrong. With a cutlass slashing grace allows you to use a cutlass with a +4 Dext DMG roll. too bad you don't have it

GM Nayr |

Jack's slashing dagger scores a hit on the fat man, leaving a thin line of red and eliciting a hiss of pain. The man attacks back, leveling a meaty fist in a straight right punch. Another pirate, a slim man with ropy muscles and thinning hair, approaches Jack at an angle, trying to drive a hook punch into his lower obliques.
Mechanics]att1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Another pirate, the silent half-Orc that Kerruk had approached yesterday, wades in, supremely confident as he faces off against Arden, who he obviously sees as no real challenge. Taking a brawler's stance, he throws a straight jab aimed at the bridge of Arden's nose.
A hard-looking human woman charges at Taptap, at the last second using one of the hooks for hanging hammocks to swing and launch a kick at the halfling's chest.
A halfling with a scarred face stalks towards Kerruk, his hands up and ready. This one shows some skill, as he sets his stance, squares his shoulders, then launches a combination of feints that culminate in a wicked overhand right.
Behind the action, the last pirate searches for an opening but finds none in the cramped quarters. Instead, he stays at the back of the group and lends what aid he can, in the form of hoots and crude exclamations.

TapTap |

Tap steps back away from the attacking woman (5-foot step )
Tap then sings an inspiring march (standard action)
Great and mighty are we.
Fists of Iron, Giants of Heart
Strike down these bastards and make them fart
Bardic Performance: Inspire Courage. Standard action to start, free action to continue. I begin with 7 rounds of Performance per day.
:) All allies +1 on attack AND DMG rolls
DOES KERRUK GET THIS BONUS THIS ROUND OR NEXT?

Kerruk Gahar |

I don't like the look of this at all. I'm giving this one more round, and if we're in trouble, they're wearing Colour Spray. In the meantime, I'm countering the scarred Halfling.
Kerruk avoids the immediate attentions of the obviously schooled Halfling Fancy yourself a fighter, do you? and lunges into his own counterattack, swinging his fists inexpertly, though not without grace.
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3

Arden Cho |

Arden shakes off the half-orc's punch and smiles coldly. She returns his single punch with two swift jabs.
Flurry of Blows: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 51d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Flurry of Blows: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 41d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Is there something nearby that Arden can use as an improvised weapon Nayr? In reach?

xeyed-jack |

We don't re-roll initiative, right? So I'll go again. If I'm getting ahead of myself, sorry.
Laughing with disdain, Jack slips under Fipps blow and stabs at Fipps with his dagger.
attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 16
(1 base bonus, 4 dexterity bonus, 1 Tap's song bonus)
dmg: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
(+1 Tap's song)
