Jack is chaotic neutral. Which means that he tends to get mean around mean people, and nice around nice people. For that, the cook has been a good influence.
Guess it didnt take my post yesterday...unless I just cant see it on my phone. Anyone see it?
Plugg, Scourge, Rosie, Conchbar, Cog, Jape, Fipps, Fishguts, Sandara, Tilly, the Rahadoumi man, Kipper (Gunner’s Mate and bootlicker of Scourge), two of the crew from the Man’s Promise, and Owlbear.
Can we get this list in a spoiler on campaign page to keep track of who is with us
The Crew of Man's Promise:
Mister Plugg - First mate; attitude - hostile
Master Scourge - Boatswain - hostile
Rosie Cusswell, muscular halfling (Friendly)
Conchobar Turlach Shortstone (Friendly}
Angry looking scarred man in a red bandana "Cog" (hostile)
Burly half Orc Jaundiced Jape - mute (unfriendly)
Fipps Chumlett (unfriendly)
Ambrose "Fishguts" Kroop the cook (helpful)
Sandara Quinn (helpful)
Tilly Brackett (friendly)
Rahadoumi man, rigger (hostile)
Two sailors from Mans Promise. One friemdlier than the other.
So that is our list. Is friendly a lower level of bonding than helpful? Can I try to convert friendly to helpful? Also is it possible to convert hostiles to friendly and above?
I also wonder if Charm Person might help? it's not permanent of course, but might enable Kerruk to exercise his 'personal magnetism' and win a few folks over?
Yes indeed, helpful is the best and is one step from friendly. Below friendly is indifferent, then unfriendly then hostile. If some are hostile at this point, it won't be possible to change them - like the officers. Friendlies can be changed with diplomacy rolls...or intimidate if used correctly, though that's less permanent.
Have I read correctly that moving more than two steps is generally not possible?

MrApollinax wrote: I also wonder if Charm Person might help? it's not permanent of course, but might enable Kerruk to exercise his 'personal magnetism' and win a few folks over? From what I understand charming might get a hostile NPC to actually engage in conversation instead of drawing a dagger and attacking. In certain situations, that would be an awesome approach. But in any case Kerruk is quite the diplomatic charmer (+8), Tap is (+7), and Jack is +5. Grabbing a helpful NPC to help influence gives a +2 bonus.
So I think Kerruk Jack and Tap should split up and try to firm up our standing with the crew.
Conchobar and Tilly are friendly. Influencing them to be helpful are easier targets. Perhaps Jack should target these two with his ship actions I think he can succeed in 75% of rolls raw, Tap 85%, and Kerruk 90% of rolls.
The harder targets are:
Perhaps the hostile Rahadoumi man and Cog can be influenced to become indifferent with a lucky roll.
The unfriendly Fipps has been a hard nut to crack, and I'm not sure how movable he is now. It shouldn't be Tap in any case.
The unfriendly Jape has received little attention, and he might be turned to friendly yet. Tap will try to influence this one.
Hmmm...I think Fipps is too enamoured of the officers and the power they represent. he seems to me to be more likely to flip in our favour if he senses that the numbers are against Plugg/Scourge
That's right Sub. And yes, Fipps is pretty much unapproachable since he got his promotion

Your list doesn't include Owlbear.
Owlbear aint' smart, but he might become more helpful. Or can be charmed when the time is right.
Owlbear likes crabs. A lot.
Well I've not had much luck with Owlbear..Bring him crabs and give him a go or two
M Human Barbarian/4
belliott made a clumsy attempt, I am curious what sort of response I will get.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Well Im not sure of our standing with Owlbear. Doesn't help that Tap beat him up :)
hope everyone a) gets a holiday and b) enjoys it!
Indeed; Merry Christmas everyone!
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Merry Christmas, everyone. I'm on my holiday, uhh working; I hate leaving a bug in my code while I'm out.
Owlbear is difficult, but not un-achievable. crabs+2, Rosie+2, means only need to roll a 16. Krruk has +8 diplomacy, so if Kerruk is willing to take the primary roll (um role too, mea culpa), Jack can try to assist.
Let's call it an Intervention.
I agree Jack... It would be nice if he was at least neutral.
GM Nayr: I'm not sure where things stand right now as far as the number of available ship actions left to use today...etc.
I'm cool with that; we can leave the Owlbear case open and see if Kerruk wants to hop in.
Here's what I show:
2 ship actions available each:
Kerruk took 1 - Working Dilligently - 1 still available
Tap took 1 - Rosie - 1 still available
Jack took 1 - Owlbear - 1 still available
Belliott took 1 - Owlbear assist - 1 still available
Jack, you can't roll an assist your own diplomacy effort.
Why don't you help Taptap with Jape.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
I didn't roll to assist my own diplomacy effort. I rolled to assist Kerruk's effort (which, I suggested he lead).
However, if I am not allowed to assist Kerruk in his diplomacy effort, I'll apply it to Jape (not that it matters, it was a terrible roll).

Congratulations, y'all. We made it through 2016.
Happy New Year from Sunny California!
I'm beginning to miss our friend and GM, Nayr.
Happy New Years all; hope everyone had a nice holiday. Apologies again, family, holidays, and travel got the best of me. That...and nearly endless hours of playing with the kids and their new toys.
I'm back at it now; no more travel till the end of the month, thankfully.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Christmas day also happens to be my son's birthday...the world seems awash in toys right now...
M Human Barbarian/4
I checked out over the last few weeks as well. Ready for more adventures now!

Just let us know what actions to take, DM. I... think that we are done for the day?
It doesn't look like we were super successful. I think Kerruk and TapTap should tackle Owlbear again. (I'm not sure how diplomacy assists stack, so its hard to calculate which approach maxes expected return)
Well anyone that is neutral or friendly, jack should handle. Kerruk and I can see if we can try the unfriwndlies on the morrow.

Threaten works too, though far less permanent.
Got it; onto the night time actions then
Hi GM Nayr,
I was wondering whether we can get more expanded info on the Man's Promise etc.
1. A map of the ship would be really useful, but I can't seem to find a link.
2. Is the ship currently sailing, and at some speed?
3. Are there some crew manning the sails or are all crew below deck besides the officers?
4. Are we currently locked in below deck?
Many thanks!
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Well, I guess we can go ahead and try to influence some NPCs...
Yes sir, indeed; sorry I've been lax about the info on the new ship, though by now you'd know it well. I'll post a map to the campaign info thread.
It is sailing, and the sails are manned by officers - they take turns every night to monitor. You are not locked in, no, in fact there's no lockable door to the lower berths - it's simply an opening with stairs leading down.
At night, the ship slows, but continues its course. It is still headed in the direction Kroop indicated.
Hope Mr.Apolinax is recovering well.
Perhaps Kerruk could make a play at influencing someone.
MrApollinax--so good to hear you are recovering well.
Yep, much better thanks, especially now that the lingering after-effects of the anaesthetic have gone. I've always been a quick healer, so the main thing is to remember that i can't just go picking up heavy things (like my 3-year old) or bend over in a hurry...
That is easy to forget. ;)
13 is a hit, since theyre flat footed. It'll go up to 15.
Belliott, Jack killed the one by you with his hit. Want to send that attack at another?
I just realized that rapid shot puts penaltyty on both shots not just second.
M Human Barbarian/4
ah yep I can attack the other one instead
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Indeed, crushed the first wave! Just need Kerruk's action to close out the round.
M Human Barbarian/4
Belliott good at perception roll. Belliott roll good.
Sorry guys, been meaning to post that for 2 days now; work's gone a bit hectic.
