So, question the populace tonight, rest up, and go after the bandits when we have recharged?
As to specific questions, maybe a simple background, and then what others have told each subject about their background - i.e., who has given US a different story than they have told Solace before we got here.
Long shot, but I agree with Lilith - look for a lie and go from there.
Lives, by the way, would be more than ready to charge out after Violet right now...allow me the minor metagame of waiting for the casters to recharge...

For the record, I am still not convinced that Brae was not the traitor. She may have not been attacked by the undead. Flyn did not see that she was… Heck, she might the one of them, or have power over them. Its actually a fairly simple and low level ability to have the mindless undead ignore you.
What is more likely; That she talked Violet into the foolish walk outside at night, or that someone talked both of them into it. Brae was to sensible to fall for such while Violet was quite impressionable.

Moving the discussion from Gameplay to here, I'm happy to advance to the next morning (or later that night if something is going to happen). As far as the Sense Motive check goes, I rolled the absolute lowest I could, which was a 10...so unless anyone ends up rolling an Aid Another or someone has an extremely poor poker face, it's unlikely anything is going to ping for her :(
I'm in agreement that we need to sleep though, as we casters are mostly out of spells and some of us are still suffering minor injuries. We can decide whether to go looking for Violet or do stuff around the keep then...though I suspect the Council would really appreciate us looking for Violet.
Speaking strictly OOC, it's also possible that Violet is the traitor and lured Brae out with her, hoping to draw us away from Solace on a rescue attempt...

In the field
Brae struggles weakly to get up, just managing to get to her feet but as she takes a few steps she cries out in pain and falls to her hands and knees. She looks Flynn in the eyesYour valor is recognised, even now in this new world, but don't throw your life away on me, Violet is more important than I am, you must rescue her!
she shoves the halfling away and grabs the torch to use as a weapon as half a dozen walkers converge on the source of light
Go!
she screams
The great hall
Radek reappears with Cale and the two girls, carrying some small sacks of vegetables, and they begin to boil water to make some thin soup.
Lenneth, give me a list of questions you want to ask, then you can roll one diplomacy and one sense motive to cover all of them, that seems easiest given the large number of people you're interviewing! Otherc can roll aid anothers (don;t forget you get a +3 from those who were with you in the church). I'll then provide you your answers and who came up with them
From a couple of days ago in the Gameplay thread is what I was referencing, hehe.

I completely missed that aid text too...
Also! It's that time I've been talking about I'm off to America tomorrow for three weeks while I should have Internet, it maybe hard for me to post so bot away if needed but I will try my best to keep up!
Flynnvas Merryweather |
Yep, I fly next Tuesday so expect Flynn to possibly go dark for a while too
Lilith Sylvari |
Yes, welcome back guys. I'd like to hear some highlights of the trip.
If there are just 10 zombies, how about we stay and deal with them?
Lilith Sylvari |
Hi all. I was traveling with family last week and expected to have time to post, but never did. Sorry for my unplanned absence. I am back and catching up.
Flynnvas Merryweather |
Dude, in case you missed it...
I'm bliiiiinnnndddd....!!
Flynnvas Merryweather |
What lesson? Not to call you out on being a Cultist-sympathiser?
You wait till I get me eyes back, brah!
GM Fiendish |
OK...those who are not already level 5, please advance to level 5...
*and there was much rejoicing*
...however...something is about to happen which means you aren't going to get a full night's rest...however as it would be mean to penalise the prepared casters, all casters can have their slots back...something about the energy of this place *handwave handwave* :)
Also, you can recover a glorious 3 hp from the rest you do get before *something* wakes you...
Shout once you are leveled and we'll proceed in the gameplay thread!
Flynnvas Merryweather |
Ready!
Lives |
One more level of Brawler. The important note: took Tiger Style as a feat, so I can do slashing with unarmed. No more dagger for Zombies!
I don't imagine that Lives is actually just really bad about cutting his nails, or whatever - I picture it more of specializing in hitting groaners so flesh and muscle tears, or that their own broken bones can slash them...
Flynnvas Merryweather |
Third level spells for Lenneth and Lillith is a big deal, I always think level 5 is a huge power boost for prepared casters
Oh and Lives, THIS is slashing damage with an unarmed strike! Tiger Style boo-ya!
(If you don't know it by the way, that movie is called Casshern and I'd highly recommend it)

First, had it been solely up to Lilith the group would not have gone back to Solace, but Lenneth makes a good point about there being good people there that need us.
Second, I am tempted to just use the scroll to try to restore Flyn's vision. But its a caster level check and if we fail, well that was our shot. So if its ok, Lilith will copy that spell into her book before resting and can then cast it first thing in the morning. If she fails she can cast it again with her bonded item. If she fails twice then we will have to wait another day to try again.
Third, 5th level! Woot! Lenneth we might should coordinate some on spell choices. Lilith has to take 1 spell from the Conjuration school. Her other spell will likely be haste, which I believe is hands down the best third level spell for a party. I'll get to leveling.
Flynnvas Merryweather |
Ordinarily Stinking Cloud is my go-to third level spell for a wizard but it's not not so good in a zombie apocalypse. Haste on the other hand is going to be great.
Lilith Sylvari |
Lilith takes another level of wizard.
Her BAB stays the same at +2 and her saves do not change.
She gains 5 hit points including her favored class bonus.
She gains both a regular feat (Improved Initiative) and a wizard bonus feat (thinking about Feral Speech).
She gains 6 skill points and allocates them thusly:
Craft Alchemy +2 to skill 12
Craft Carpentry +1 to skill 6
Knowledge Arcana +1 to skill 12
Perception +1 to skill 16
Spellcraft +1 to skill 12
In addition to Dispel Magic, she adds Haste and likely Summon Monster III to her book. I really like Stinking Cloud, but that is gonna do nothing to undead. comments welcome.
Lenneth Barlow |
I'm trying to decide what would be good to compliment Lilith's new spells...there are definitely plenty of options and I get to pick two. There are some things that might assist with movement like Fly and Water Walk, there are a few damaging spells like Lightning Bolt, or even stuff like Bestow Curse if I wanted to get nasty as well as up close and personal with someone.
Opinions?
Flynnvas Merryweather |
Lenneth, I feel like water walk will be if limited use. Fly is great but don't forget you can get that as a hex which will have a longer duration than the spell.
Witches have a difficult and interesting spell list.
Sleet Storm, Summon Monster 3, Heroism, Clairaudience/clairvoyance, Ash Storm and Fly are the standouts for me
Lilith Sylvari |
I agree with Flyn; Flight Hex is the way to go for you. And if you can wait Lillith will eventually give you the Flight Spell too. Same goes for SM III, which she can give you soon if there is scribing time again. We might need to lay in another store of inks though.
I recommend you take Lightning Bolt. Lilith will not learn it unless she finds it in a book and you have so few damage spells it makes good sense for you. Can you take Stinking Cloud? Bestow Curse is very good in a single boss fight type fight.
Lenneth Barlow |
Okay, finally should be good to go. Let's see, Lenneth gained:
+6 HPs (+4, +1 Con, +1 FCB)
+7 Skill Points (+2, + 3 Int, +1 Human, +1 FCB)
+2 3rd Level Spells (Heroism, Lightning Bolt)
Feat - Improved Initiative
Other notable changes:
Fly Hex upgrades; Lenneth can now Fly per the spell for 1 minute/level each day
Healing Hex upgrades; now functions as Cure Moderate Wounds
Indigo can now talk to Lenneth (!); no one else understands their speech without magical aid
Lilith Sylvari |
Nice choice on spells. I think I would have made the same. And I love how two of your hexes have leveled up too. a reach 2d8+5 healing hex to attack the biters should be pretty handy. Makes my 1d6 range attack look pretty lame. Of course you can only target an undead once, but then I can finish them off if they are still up. :)
If Lilith sticks with Feral speech she should be able to talk to your cat and Flyn's bird, or at least I think so.
Flynnvas Merryweather |
Yep, happy independence from us evil Brits :)
Lenneth Barlow |
Regarding our current predicament, I'm almost tempted to say that we get as many people into the passage below the Council Chamber as we can. Considering how many undead are outside and how sick the majority of the Solace citizens are, they wouldn't last long trying to defend the place when/if they break through the gate. Even though we don't know what's down there, at least the ladder down would provide a choke point for anyone trying to follow behind us. Of course there's also the matter of the time it would take to even do all of that...
The other option would be to let Mallis rouse people and hope they can hold them off long enough for us to do something useful down below, if we can. Either way, I'm pretty sure we're going to have plenty of casualties before it's all said and done :\
