Cast Calm Emotions (feat lets her Enchantment spells affect undead) to hit the closest remaining Death Knight not under her control and not her companions. She'll also command the one under her control to attack the other group of DKs.

The nearby death knight stands down at Harika's command and her other pawn charges the other group near kardav (who I believe is not actually down once he takes into account that the negative energy damage from the swords actually heals him).

Merius slowly lowers to the ground and rushes over to find two of their companions dead. "This mission is proving to be much more dangerous than we initially realized." He looks to the cleric, Harika. "Do you have the powers to raise either of these men? If not we cannot leave their bodies here to rot. I can at least give them some peace by incinerating their bodies in a funeral pyre."

As a note the paladin has a number of powerful magic items on him.

Will wait for the magicky types to identify items, but Bug will stuff bodies into the sarcophagus and put some oil on them to combust the bodies (after removing any useful items).

What sort of items are we looking at? Also, did the death knights have anything useful on them?


Well his sword for one is +1 flaming holy cold iron longsword with the name Carathax inscribed on it.

His armour is a +2 Mithral Breastplate.

His helmet has a permanent resist cold (20) effect on it.

He has 5 javelins of lightning in a handy haversack as well as 4 potions of cure serious wounds, 500 gold and a diamond worth at least 500 gold. There is also a small silver cylinder with a crystal at the end that doesn't appear to be magical.

And he also has a ring of keys that likely open different doors in this building.


The deathknights All have +1 longswords, +1 full plate armours and +1 darkwood bucklers.

If nobody else wants the helm, Bug will take it, but he's not desperate for it or anything. He has better stuff otherwise. We will collect all the currency, gem, cylinder and keys. No way for me to lug around that much armor or weapons. It's a lot of stuff.

Assuming we have a portable hole or bag of holding, we stash the heavy stuff and move on. I guess we just need to keep exploring to find the corporeal body of the baddie. What are the options?


Alright moving on the to the last fight for this location.

The room beyond is a large preparation chamber you can guess that this is were they have been converting the frozen knights into death knights (A lengtly and costly process takes several days and about 10k gold in materials for each one)

The berbalang is here in his physical form. He growls as you enter and attacks with his recoiling tongue. (he can shoot out his tongue and then retract it back very quickly it has a range of 15 feet)

Seeing the berbelang finally within reach of his fires, Merius quickly gathers energy to himself and sends a blast of fiery death streaking towards the undead monster!

I may have you join up with the other group and merge.

You guys finish off the berbelang once and for all. In his weakened form he doesn't put up much of a fight. However a strange spiderlike creature appears out of nowhere and join him. The spider creature uses strange mind powers in battle and before you manage to put it down several of you have fallen into a strange coma and wont wake up even thought they appear to be alive.

Once the enemies are destroyed destroyed you go about searching the rest of the place.

You find a few more rooms that are likely laboratories and magic items storage and finally you open the door to the final chamber and are surprised to find it occupied by your comrades from the underground group.
