Ēoswulf has a level in rogue, he just needs to put ranks in DD for when geo is not around.
Ēoswulf punches at the lock with a spiked gauntlet, hoping to break the lock with minimal damage to the contents.

Well, that doesn't seem right, but I read a lot of rules and opinions on the breaking of things, and as far as I can tell, RAW, this works beautifully. I would have expected the dagger to break or simply not be the right tool for the job, but found no rules. Even if I were to allow for breaking, the dagger seems to have hardness of 10, which Ēoswulf never exceeded. Really, I blame the module for being somewhat specific and yet limited in how it was written. Maybe it is just rustier than the description lets on? So, we will simply say, eventually he gets the chest opened.
Ēoswulf spends a fair amount of time with (someone's) dagger, eventually destroying the iron chest and not damaging any of the contents within.
Inside, you find several silver and gold bars stamped with the insignia of a Chelish noble house. In addition, there are three carefully folded pieces of parchment: a scroll of blood biography (Pathfinder RPG Advanced Player’s Guide 206), a scroll of seek thoughts (Advanced Player’s Guide 242), and a brittle contract promising aid from House Morilla of Taldor to the Sauer family in return for future favors.

The trail leads you to Deadeye's Cross, a crossroad at the edge of town where the shop you seek is to be found. It is owned by a half-elf named Koriana Verdothia.
Broad country roads lead in four directions away from a crossroad. To the north, the road to the Sauer Vineyard cuts among golden fields and lush vineyards. To the south, the road into Sauerton is flanked by sparse and apparently abandoned houses. To the west, the road to the Andares manor winds through a grove of apple trees whose leaves have begun to yellow. To the east, fields stretch among rolling hills as far as the eye can see, with long autumn wheat lolling in the wind. On the southeast corner, an empty shop sits boarded up with broken windows. On the southwest corner, a sign advertises Koriana’s Exotic Tonics and Remedies and boasts of “longforgotten delights from all across the Inner Sea.”
As you come close, you see a elderly man leading a cow into town. Suddenly, a small pack of dogs emerge from the fields and start to bark and snip at them. They look hungry, or maybe even rabid.

In the nick of time, Ēoswulf dispatches the last angry animal, as Hinkle saves the farmer's life, although he is still pretty severely injured.
The farmer thanks you, and then starts muttering angrily. "Never would have happened before Tercio got himself elected. Damn town guard's more concerned about parades and "doing favors" than keeping us safe!"[b]
Thalia, sagely quoting from the works of her favorite political philosophers, remarks on how dangerous it can be for a leader to focus on politics over the needs of the people.
Soon after the fight, a scrawny man comes out of the shop to the southeast. [b]"Hey there! We sell healing potions here if you need anything!"

This shop is spacious and lined with rack upon wooden rack of exotic herbs, spices, tonics, smoking paraphernalia, and a smattering of glass vials of brightly colored liquids. More such vials stand in display inside a glass-fronted countertop. Strange and smoky odors waft from a back room past a mostly closed door.
