Well, that doesn't seem right, but I read a lot of rules and opinions on the breaking of things, and as far as I can tell, RAW, this works beautifully. I would have expected the dagger to break or simply not be the right tool for the job, but found no rules. Even if I were to allow for breaking, the dagger seems to have hardness of 10, which Ēoswulf never exceeded. Really, I blame the module for being somewhat specific and yet limited in how it was written. Maybe it is just rustier than the description lets on? So, we will simply say, eventually he gets the chest opened.

Ēoswulf spends a fair amount of time with (someone's) dagger, eventually destroying the iron chest and not damaging any of the contents within.

Inside, you find several silver and gold bars stamped with the insignia of a Chelish noble house. In addition, there are three carefully folded pieces of parchment: a scroll of blood biography (Pathfinder RPG Advanced Player’s Guide 206), a scroll of seek thoughts (Advanced Player’s Guide 242), and a brittle contract promising aid from House Morilla of Taldor to the Sauer family in return for future favors.

DC 20 Knowledge (history) or (nobility) check:
You recall that there is no record of the Morilla family ever receiving such aid, meaning the contract should still be valid.

The trail leads you to Deadeye's Cross, a crossroad at the edge of town where the shop you seek is to be found. It is owned by a half-elf named Koriana Verdothia.

Sense Motive DC 15:
When you discover the name of the owner, Thalia seems to note it with recognition and a bit of shock, but she remains silent.

Broad country roads lead in four directions away from a crossroad. To the north, the road to the Sauer Vineyard cuts among golden fields and lush vineyards. To the south, the road into Sauerton is flanked by sparse and apparently abandoned houses. To the west, the road to the Andares manor winds through a grove of apple trees whose leaves have begun to yellow. To the east, fields stretch among rolling hills as far as the eye can see, with long autumn wheat lolling in the wind. On the southeast corner, an empty shop sits boarded up with broken windows. On the southwest corner, a sign advertises Koriana’s Exotic Tonics and Remedies and boasts of “longforgotten delights from all across the Inner Sea.”

As you come close, you see a elderly man leading a cow into town. Suddenly, a small pack of dogs emerge from the fields and start to bark and snip at them. They look hungry, or maybe even rabid.

The farmer talks to you about local events, but really nothing new. He doesn't have any direct knowledge of politics or the people running the town.

He thanks you for your help, and promises to being you some cream and cheese if you tell him where you are staying. Then he leads his cow on to their destination.

Sweet. Looks like we are just waiting on Hinkle and Maximuos to check in. Personally, I'm still okay if they are delayed and we can't start until later than Monday. I wasn't expecting to start before then anyway.

--

We should consider deciding on some common pbp GM practices, so that our experience has some consistency.

How long does the GM wait before botting?

My preference is, after roughly 24 hours (or less?) with no posts from a party member, the GM assumes that party member implicitly agrees with the majority of people who HAVE posted (do we require at least two or three people to post, or just one?) and goes forward with that course of action. I know I often forget to write "I agree" type posts, so the GM assuming this can speed up the game.
Likewise, if a player's turn has been up for 24 hours, the GM will bot that character's turn.

We can pause these timers for 48 hours or so at midnight on Friday. Or not. I'm okay either way.

Which brings us to initiative. How do we do it: Only post in initiative order? Post in any order but resolve in initiative order? Post in any order and resolve immediately?

The latter is fastest. I prefer it but would be okay with the middle option. The first option is way, way too slow.

What do you guys think? What do you prefer?

-Posted with Wayfinder

Male Human

Waiting 24 hrs before boting is fine with me... But the bot should be an actual action the player might do vs just standing in the back.... I wouldn't use a daily spell or wand charge, or have a halfling rogue charge out front and attack a giant!

I have more time on weekends than during the week so no need to pause on the weekends for me!

Post in any order and resolve as necessary... Best IMO. The GM could even slightly change a players post if the initiative order and post order are out of whack... (Instead of shooting at green who was taken out by a spell from Gandolf who had a better initiative but slower post, Stryder instead shoots at red)

The Exchange

Yeah. I would encourage players to put "default actions" in their profile for the GM to consult in botting situations.

I am still fairly new at the GM thing, but what I have been doing is listing initiative order, but bolding who can post (in any order). Such as:

Round 1 (Bold may post)
Player 1
Player 2
Player 3
BBEG
Player 4
Player 5
Player 6

Then I resolve in initiative order if there are conflicts, but otherwise resolve rather immediately. For instance, if player 1 and 3 post, I might go ahead and resolve, and then

Round 1 (Bold may post)
Player 1
Player 2
Player 3
BBEG
Player 4
Player 5
Player 6

If player 2 doesn't chime in for too long, I usually just delay their action unless it is pretty clear cut. For instance, if they attack with their axe repeated, I might just go ahead and bot that. I agree with MIke, though - I never bot them to use spells or charges unless they give me directions to do so before hand.

I do like to keep things moving though, so I prefer 24 hours to 48.

Sovereign Court

Chronicle Sheets GM Busy At Work........

For me usually...

I would roll Perception, Initative in the interest of speeding up the game.

Initative Order would be posted but Players may post in any order, I'll resolve it in Initative order but if an action is invalidated that I can't simply make a simple change like change of targets, I'll call for another action in lieu.

I would also wait 24 hrs before botting and It won't be finding a corner playing cards with yourself. It'll be a sensible I hope action.

I approve of GM rolling initiative and Perception. I would add saves to that list, whenever the player does not have an ability like "before rolling for a save you may... <roll twice, or something>" in which case the player should note that by their saves so the GM can't miss it

Sorry, didn't know we completely switched back over. I do similar initative and I've been playing with a different way of doing saves since I've been dealing with a lot of roll again or double rolls. It is not intended to stop cheating, but helps honest players stay honest without breaking emersion. It looks like this.

Fort save:
DC 15 or take 1d4 ⇒ 2 con damage.

The idea is that you can decided to roll twice without knowing the DC or preview your first roll and choose to roll again without knowing the results.

I took a look at Dunbar's stats and noticed two things. Bandoliers are not CORE legal and I can not find the Axe grinder in the list of legal traits, but I admit I am not the best on confirming those.

WILCO,
BTW, I have made some small tweaks on Dunbar's character sheet. Ive removed 'Axe to Grind' trait and replaced with 'Guardian of the Forge.'

Also, no Masterwork Dwarven Great Axe any more... just a normal Dwarven Greataxe and a change of armor etc with the loss of 'Rich Parents.'

I will alos got rid of the bandoleer, even though I find that the hardest to swallow for Core rules... but who am I to say?!! ;)
