Hinkle Mikrinkleberry
|
It takes a moment for Hinkle to realize the group is looking at him to do the talking. He nervously tugs his beard before waving and saying, "Good morning, my friends and I are here looking for the burial site of a stone mason know as Kargath. Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
The gnomes voice catches in his throat, making it sounded squeakier then usual.
| GM Hooligan |
As Fillia looks around she notices a pair of city guards sauntering around the streets outside of the necropolis grounds. Not paying you any special attention, but noteworthy compared to the normal hustle and bustle of the East Gate neighborhood.
As the Gnome addresses the young cleric, she politely replies, "I see..." This is followed by an uncomfortably long pause before she says, "His soul had migrated to Pharasma's Boneyard in the Outer Sphere, what is your true business here in Pharasma’s domain?
She does not appear to be swayed by Hinkle's request, and you are unsure if it is some sort of prejudice because of his race or religion, or simply because of his gnomish diction, cadence and canter of his speech.

"We're here to pay our respects to the man." she begins
"We were very much away when news of his passing finally reached us and hence we are here to bid him farewell." she hoped that it would be convincing enough.
Enith
|
Wait, I thought we were... oh, she's lying. Ooo, that's clever...
Enith nods assertively. There, that was convincing right?

"We were very much away when news of his passing finally reached us and hence we are here to bid him farewell." she hoped that it would be convincing enough.
While the gates into the necropolis are left open to those paying their respects, the doors of the mausoleums are sealed with sturdy stone slabs.
The attendant's eyes narrow at Fillia's words as she ponders her response. "I see..."After several moments of deep contemplation the cleric points to the northernmost sepulcher, an exquisitely carved marble crypt, fitting of a former stonemason. "Kargath's remains lie there, you may pay your respects... from the outside. That's the best I think I can do."
Fillia Bloodstone
|
"Our thanks. We shall be on our way then." Fillia smiles shyly as she moves towards the direction, the attendant pointed.
| GM Hooligan |
This particular fenced section of the graveyard only has 8-10 crypts in it total. As Fillia thanks the attendant, she smiles broadly and says "You are very welcome, May Pharasma, Lady of the Graves, look over you. Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you."

"Well, that didn't go ... well..."
Geoclunicus examines the outside of the mausoleum for secret compartments or doors.

The young attendant leaves you to your "respects" and wanders off, but still not leaving her posts. She occasionally glances over towards your party, but she simply smiles and nods as she inwardly appears very proud and satisfied with the execution of her assigned duties.
You notice that the city guards you spied earlier have moved on out of site, but there is no knowing for how long. The regular foot and cart traffic is steady but not what one would consider bustling. Finally, you notice the huge, marble door that hangs on gigantic hinges looks impossibly heavy, however it is slightly ajar allowing a glimpse of the interior sarcophagus. In side you spy the skeletal remains of who you assume to be Arkath.
| GM Hooligan |
The young attendant continues to look over at your party, but not as if checking up on you, but more looking to see if you need further assistance. She had appeared board before you arrived, now she seems excited to have some sense of purpose. Perhapse re-engaging her (with appropriate DC rolls) would be fruitful?
Fillia Bloodstone
|
Fillia stares at the tomb, her gaze unwavering as it dithers from the boring stone to a blade of grass swaying in the wind and then looking to follow a whisper of the wind, her attention fragmented as she simply gets bored and then she notices the attendant.
"I think she's looking at us to see if we need any help?" she poses even as her feet begins to shift her weight from side to side.
Base perception +10, that works?
Geoclunicus
|
"I will try to create a distraction...be quick, please."
With that, Geo sneaks off to circle around the watcher, and will then provide a distraction at the other end of the graveyard.

"I think we should like to see him, ma'am."
| GM Hooligan |
The attendant cleric nervously looks around, and says. "This is highly irregular... If anyone asks, your his long lost illegitimate great granddaughter." looking at Enith.
"I will bend this one rule because you appear so grief stricken, but remember, you shall not be permitted to touch the remains, and nothing is to leave the burial chamber lest what walks in under its own power. you feel that this is something she is deathly serious about?
Enith
|
Enith's eyes narrow marginally, we lied to her, that means she is Them, not Us. And a stranger besides, but she'll open the door...
She raises her chin sharply, halfway between a challenge and an assent. Then she remembers that she's talking to a human, "Very well."
Enith then tries her best to look sorrowful, effecting a look more akin to morose consternation.
Right now we just need to see if it's there. After that, well, I guess we'll see...
Fillia Bloodstone
|
Fillia nods though she privately wonders on the cleric's words.
Walking under its own power? The man's dead isn't he?
| GM Hooligan |
The large marble door is even heavier than you expected as it takes several of you to open it enough for the largest to enter. The interior of Arkath’s sarcophagus is empty save for the stonemason’s long-dead skeleton.

After his return to the group, the ultra sharp eyes of Geoclunicus discover a small silver coin inside the skeleton’s mouth. This simple coin looks to be some sort of ancient currency, but you can not tell as it is mostly contained within the maw of the skeleton.
Geoclunicus

Geoclunicus, saddened by the loss of one so great, bends over the corpse and touches his forehead, mouth and heart...
and tries to slip whatever it is out of the mouth and palm it, if he can.

| GM Hooligan |
First, she was very leary of letting you in in the first place as it is against her instructions, so her senses were heightened. Second, it's very tight quarters with you all inside the tomb, so proximity to the SoH action was close. Third, your act was directly counter to her instuctions (thou shalt not touch). Fourth, her intimate familiarty with every inch of these tombs as she has essently been sold into indentured servitude to the Church and she spends every waking moment patrolling these crypts, talking with the corpses. And lastly, the difficulty of removing a coin all but enclosed within the mouth of the skull (How do you even grasp it?) As Geo makes a break for it, the Attendant's eyes narrow and the cramped tomb fills with a thick fog obscureing your vision, making it impossible for you to see the exit. "Combat"
Hadriana, being closest to the door, backs out as Geo moves and casts a spell, filling the surrounding area with a thick fog... And screams an alarm, hoping the City Guard show up...
