lol speeding things up abit. And abit of a running joke in one of my previous games.
The warehouse comes alive with activity as the droning of Maximos picks up its own cadence as he instructs the rest how to operate the crane.
Dundar waits in the boat as............
Geo operates the crane based on Maximos instructions and Hinkle helping as spotter as...........
Dundar waits in the boat...............
As Ēoswulf gamely allows himself to be on the neck of the crane being treated for ride of his life as Geo makes a few mistakes with the crane swinging wildly for a moment with the brave and strong Northman holding on with a formidable grip. It takes some time for the crane to settle down as..................
Dundar waits in the boat...............
The feeling is palpable as finally Ēoswulf manages to hitch the chest securely to the crane and gives the signal as Geo works the crane expertly now to set both Ēoswulf and crate down beside an excited Hinkle as...............
Dundar waits in the boat...............
The rescued crate holds a smaller mahogany box inside, which contains five books and a few loose sheets of paper in a leather folder. The titles and subjects seem completely unrelated to each other:
Practical Thaumaturgy
In Accordance with Creation,
Geographic Anomalies of the Inner Sea,
Under Kaer Maga: A Trial and Travel,
Physiology of Dragons: An Illustrated Reference,
Lost Sarusan.
The leather folder contains cargo manifestos, warehouse inventories, and other financial logs from a dozen different merchant houses and trade guilds.
The crate also contains 10 sets of masterwork thieves’ tools, three flasks of alchemist’s fire, a flask of acid, a dozen jars of various inks, a footprint book, adamantine weapon blanch, three bags of powder, a deck of marked cards, and two sets of average loaded dice.
Maximos Jax |
"books! Ah so poorly cared for!" says Maximos as he inspects them. He flips through them as the others inspect the ledgers and other materials.

Geoclunicus |
Geoclunicus will take a set of masterwork thieves tools (since I apparently failed to purchase any tools!), and any of the thrown weapons that others do not want. Geo has his own, but why use the consumables if they are provided here!
Geo will also take the loaded dice and marked cards, because those could be fun.
What is a footprint book?
Ēoswulf Gērmwynson |
I'll claim powder, an Alchemist flask, and blanch unless Neit wants it

After dividing the loot found and stowing the rest, the party brings back the required items to Guaril whose eyse lit up at your success.
"Ah Spendid! I see that each of you have the makings of a fine pathfinder. Indeed should you ever find yourself in need of the services that I can provide, please feel free to seek me out. I'm sure we can find ourselves a mutual benefit to each of us."
Yes. I was told that othe book would qualify for such. For those who are not sure, we're speaking about faction Journals.
And Now, where too next?
You can't be sure due to the crowd or a trick of the light but someone....nah maybe not ......was following you.
Dunbar Brasstwister |
"This folder and its contents and many of these other items may be of interest to the Grand Lodge, we should bring it as well and deliver it to the society's scholars..."
Dunbar will take any remaining Alchmist's Fire flasks left, and the acid, and if the Blanch is unclaimed he would gladly upgrade his great axe! But I believe it has been spoken for.
"And a quick swing by a temple if that would be possible as I feel like lone Orc at a Dwarven family reunion..." Dunbar adds as he finishes fastening his armor.
Geoclunicus |
Why don't we give the alcehmist's flasks one each to Dunbar, Eoswulf, and Geo, and he Acid to Dunbar, Powder to Eoswulf, and adamantine weapon blanch you can dice for... Geo will take the ink and fooprint book, just in case they are needed for some other part of this mission.
Hinkle Mikrinkleberry |
"Well you are in luck my dwarven friend. It looks like the next stop is the temple of the shining star. Shouldn't be to hard to find someone there to fix you up if you aren't feeling well." Hinkle leads the way saying, "I've been there a few times follow me."
Weapon blanches aren't great on melee weapons as they are only good for one hit. Ten arrows on the other hand.
Dunbar Brasstwister |
I am perfectly cool with that arrangement, the blanch should go to an archer...

Ēoswulf Gērmwynson |
arrangement looks good.
Ēoswulf offers Guaril a firm handshake. "Tell me, new friend, have you heard of The Exchange? I am one of their newest members, but even in my inexperience I suspect you ate just the kind of man who would benefit from membership in the Exchange--and we likewise."

lol Yep that works. Except he's already in the Exchange.....in fact he's one of your heads. lol but I suppose that'll work. I never actually found an answer to that one.
"Ah...I see you're well aquainted with The Exchange. I would indeed look forward to seeing what may come with this agreement." clasping the hand of Ēoswulf in a firm handshake, his grip surprisingly strong for one such as he.

Arriving at the Temple of the Shining Star, the you are immediately directed to Ollysta Zadrian. This paladin of Sarenrae is young in her years, but holds herself with the poise of a queen and warrior simultaneously. As she notices the your arrival, she strides forward, addressing the group in a strong voice.
“Thank the light of Sarenrae you have arrived! I knew Ambrus would come through for us in the Silver Crusade. I desperately need you to bring medicine to an orphanage and let me know if the headmistress, Gilga Baltwin, is deserving of our charity. Giving each of you a firm handshake, her grip a testamount to her strength, her gaze unwavering as she looks at each of you in the eye.
"Since our quest began, the needy have clamored for our aid, and I suspect some are abusing our generosity. It may sound cruel, but there are plenty of dishonest people out in the world eager for easy gold." so saying as she clenches her fist before placing them behind her.
“Do you know of the Silver Crusade? After discovering so many factions splintered the Society, a number of us banded together to proliferate the cause of charity and kindness using the Society’s resources. As it is said, ‘The Dawn brings new light’ and I’ve made it my life’s work to use our recent darkness to bring a new light to the world and to the Pathfinder Society. She smiles, its radiance blinding on her hard face.
"I apologize for straying off point. Will you bring this parcel of medicine to Auntie Baltwin’s Home for Recovery in the Eastgate district?” as she holds up a non descript packed parcel in brown.
Ēoswulf Gērmwynson |
"We will surely deliver the package and seek to find the orphanage owner's true intentions."

Dunbar Brasstwister |
"Paladan Zadrian, might I be able to purchase a cure for a sickness from a wretched vermin bite? I want to be fully capable in our mission to serve your cause in the Eastgate and with Auntie Baltwin's" Dunbar asks, he'd held high, despite how bad he feels.
nightdeath |
Looking at Dunbar, Ollysta smiles.
"I would love to as such but I have not the spells granted to me to remove such by Sarenae. Perhaps it is her way to further test you? Joining us might be a way for such is the way of the higher powers." she says at some regret being unable to help Dunbar.
"Fret not, rest well at the end of your endeavours, one as strong of heart like you will not fall prey to such a bite." she finishes with conviction.
Turning to gaze around the rest of you.
"I await your news and May Sarenae's Blessings be upon you all."
Miltivis, who runs a nearby market, claims he’s served Auntie Baltwin for over 30 years, and while a good customer, she is quite demanding and often rude to the other customers. He says she’s kept his supplier of fine whiskeys in business for decades.

At the estate across the street, Master Trebb Bonto, a retired builder, says nothing but nice things of Lady Baltwin, as he calls her. He recounts tales of tea and games on the sitting porch, though if pressed, he lets slip that she often cheats at games and sometimes had some shady characters coming to whisper in her ear and palm her small bags of what might have been money before slinking away. “Otherwise a fine lady, indeed.” he quickly adds.
At Auntie's Baltwin:
Nearly swarming with cats and children, this fine upper-class home appears to be clean and in good condition considering the number and ages of its inhabitants. Three young boys shoot marbles in the dirt near the side porch, and inside strewn toys and more cats lie about on the floors. A few children take care of chores, while coughs and sneezes softly erupt from the children’s dormitories upstairs.

"I suggest we talk to the children, too. That should tell us much!"

Gilga Baltwin’s neighbors Travost and Tirelle Anthos are frankly tired of the noises the children make and the retinue of cats—though they do appreciate the latter’s mousing skills. They admit to being happy when Auntie Baltwin sends the children “off into the town” during the day, as it gives them a few hours of peace and quiet before they return in the evening.
Nope, I copied and pasted wrong.....Didn't proof read it...
Geoclunicus |
"Auntie Baltwin sends the children “off into the town” during the day. I thin we should learn what that means."
Geoclunicus approaches the residence looking for any group of kids to chat with.

"Auntie Baltwin told us nah to speek with strangers."
You also noticed them edging backwards..........ever so slightly.

This I swear to yo to be true." Dunbar adds as he senses his gentle intimidation was a bit too sharp.

The kids shudder and demostrate an unwillingeless to speak further with you though one question remains. Crystal clear.
"What's Pathfinder?" the youngest among them speaks up before being shushed by the others.
By this time, a voice screeches out from the house.
"Who are you and why are you accosting these kids?" An old woman steps forth from the house attempting to be intimidating but fails at that. Slightly stooped and dressed in simple home spun clothing, she looks slightly nervous as she takes in your arms.
Ēoswulf Gērmwynson |
Ēoswulf offers the woman a friendly smile. "Ah, you must be Mistress Baldwin." He approaches her and offers a handshake.

Dunbar Brasstwister |
Dunbar lowers his great axe blade to the ground and uses the handle to balance himself as he squats down so that he almost has to look up to the children and says with great inflection, "Pathfinders are brave adventurers fighting to survive in a world beset by magic and evil. Some might cut their way through monster-filled ruins and cities rife with political intrigue to emerge as a famous hero laden with fabulous treasure, some will fall victim to treacherous traps and fiendish monsters in a forgotten dungeon, either way, they are dedicated to the adventure itself."
He then stands and looks squarely at Auntie Baltwin and impassively says, "Having the young'uns sleep head to foot in their bunks will limit the spread of sickness," as he glances upwards to the cacophony of coughs and sneezes coming from the upper floors of the house. He finishes with, "...at least the cats will keep the vermin filth and sickness away, if you clean up after them."
Whit this he shivers a bit, and his gut wretches as the Dwarf all but feels the sickness flowing through his body from the earlier rat bite.
Hinkle Mikrinkleberry |
Hinkle notices the look of confusion forming on Auntie Baltwin's face. "Apologies, we are here from the temple of the shining star to deliver some medicine. Thought we'd check up on some of the little ones before we knocked on the door." Hinkle says with an innocent smile.

Auntie Baltwin sniffs at Dunbar.
"One like you would not understand what it takes to keep the little ones safe and healthy. Gold is not something to be found easily and hence the charity of the good Sliver Crusade is much valued though their agents leave much to be desired. Who knows what one can catch what sickness or disease from where you come from."
Beckoning to the others.
"I bid you welcome and thanks for the supplies, they are much needed. It would be best if you spoke to me first before speaking to the children, they're not used to speaking to sudden strangers." showing the others the way in.
"Seems like one of you seem sickened. Come on in and I'll treat you. Years of experience would have taught that." with deft hands she treats the rat bite on Dubar with a poutrice, foul smelling as it is, works. Bringing down the swelling and making Dunbar slightly more comfortable as his body relaxes under the poutrice's contents.
Geo However spots that Auntie Baltwin's complexion to the untained eye is flushed with health but to him, it's something more. What's More she eyes Ēoswulf with a passing interest........
Geo may make a heal check.
