Innis |
Innis & Him: Mage armor; ~45 mins
Innis: +2 skill, attack, ability checks
Innis: Bit of Luck, touch spell held
Innis follows Merelda up the stairs. She whispers "Let's just be quick about this I'm not entirely convinced this is not a needless distraction."
"Unless you've been tempted by the allure of heroism?" she says as an after thought.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
With a look like she ate a sour lemon, Merelda replies tartly.
"I'm going to pretend you didn't say that sister. However, this house has..."
Reaching up she touched the burned hand-print, now healed, that lay upon her neck.
"Let's just say I feel an intense dislike coming on for this abode. It's very obvious why the cultists chose it as a base of operations now."
GM Aumakua |
Merelda even though the wounds are healed there is still a mark where hand touched
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Yeah, I figured she was "marked" or something like that. =/ Merleda will just have to hope it is not permanent.
GM Aumakua |
The children cautiously peer into the house watching as Merelda and Innis ascend the stairs. From the look on their faces you can see that even with your presence here they are frightened of this place.
Merelda and Innis make a Perception check please
The rest of you wait below with the children waiting for your two companions to recover the child.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Keeping her Rapier handy, just in case, Merelda moves with a purpose up the stairs, but cautiously looks for danger as she goes.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
GM Aumakua |
The children look at Kirzon with puzzled looks and then Aren says,"Uhh it's right here mister dwarf." As the children move away from the door you see that it leads outside.
When Kirzon takes them outside they stand firm their eyes still looking at the dilapidated house. From outside Kirzon you can see that the house is in ruins having been destroyed long ago by a fire.
GM Aumakua |
As you climb the stairs you both pause as you briefly hear the sounds of a child sobbing from somewhere up above.
Innis |
Innis frowns apprehensively and proceeds with caution as the pair move closer to the sound.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Hearing the child cry touches something deep within Merelda. Pushing ahead frantically, she charges the door and attempts to open it violently, rapier extended in a defensive position.
Open Door: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
GM Aumakua |
Is everyone going up the stairs now or will there be some who stay down below?
Innis |
Innis & Him: Mage armor; ~45 mins
Merry : +2 skill, attack, ability checks
Innis: Bit of Luck, touch spell held
Innis opens her mouth to say something to halt Merelda as the other woman springs to action but chooses to remain silent. Hearing the elderly dwarf trundle up the unwelcoming steps of the ruined house she will hope that the supernaturally-impotent members of the group heeded her advice.
GM Aumakua |
Merelda races up the steps and finds no door but an empty, fire-scarred hallway that creaks and groans in protest as you move across it.
From the top of the stairs Merelda can see two ways to proceed. On the northwest corner there is an entryway that looks like it leads to another room while to the south the hall heads down for 20 ft before opening into larger hallway where you see a entryway on the south west wall.
will post map of top floor later on
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Speaking urgently, but gently, Merelda looks from doorway to doorway.
"Child! Speak up! Where are you! We need to get you out of here before you hurt yourself in this poor excuse of a dungheap!"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 2 = 18

You wait a moment and faintly hear the whimpering of a child from somewhere above you Merelda.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Added top floor map set to view for all you prying eyes!! Will update thread later this morning
Merelda will move to D1 (need permission to edit new map) and view beyond for a fast way to the attic, or anything dangerous.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Nicias |
Nicias will stay below with the other children.
Someone with good Cha should ask them things like; where are we? what is the story of this place? what did it used to be? it might help us figure out what's going on.
GM Aumakua |
Innis: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

Merelda as you are about to look inside the first room your attention shifts to the passage as you watch as two creatures emerge from the south room. The creatures are humanoid in shape but their features are almost impossible to discern because their whole body is set aflame. They seem to float off the floor and head quickly towards you.
ROUND 1
1. Burning creature
2. Party
burning claw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
damage: 1d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + (3) = 5
The creatures cover the ground between you and them quickly and one strikes at Merelda. Fortunately Merelda is able to step back before the creature's burning claw tears into her skin.
Party's Turn. You should now have access to move tokens
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
"Ahggh!!! Look out! There are strange creatures wreathed in fire that are attacking!"
Calming herself, Merelda concentrates in order to discern the creature's origins, although she suspects they are some
form of elemental, or even more likely, an energy based undead of some sort!
Knowledge(arcana): 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 2 = 17
Knowledge(religion): 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 2 = 12

Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 2 = 19
Narrowing her eyes, Merelda gives in to her righteous anger Declaring her Inquisitors Judgement for the day
(w/swift action) for this combat: Resistance!(2 points fire resistance for this combat).
She then attacks her flaming opponent with her quick rapier!
Attack MW Rapier: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 2 = 22
Damage Rapier: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
She appears to hit...
But moves 5 feet beyond the doorway next to her to minimize the creatures attacks on her anyway.
Innis |
Innis scowls as Merelda moves further away pressed by the malevolent flame creatures. "What are these things?" she will shout towards the ever analytical Inquisitor before choosing how to act.
Lililinda |
Lililinda fires a missile from her wand at the monster that is attacking Merelda. "Take that, you fiend!"
missile damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
GM Aumakua |
Kirzon: Possibly their whole bodies are aflame and you can feel heat resonating from their area. You are not sure what these creatures are though.
Merelda: You are certain they are not from the elemental planes but other than that you are unsure.
Merelda as you strike at the creature it feels as if your blade passes right through it.
Lililinda lets off a missile from the wand and it strikes the creature. The creature momentarily turns to face Lililinda. Clearly indicating the gnome got its attention there.
Kirzon |
Seeing Merelda's sword slice through the creatures like air leaves Kirzon fearful. "They be ghosts or somethin' - stay back, Boros! Looks like Lily's wand works on 'em."
Kirzon moves forward simply to block the path to either Innis or Lily. Boros dutifully withdraws.
Kirzon gets to the front line and takes the total defense action; AC22
Innis |
Innis & Him: Mage armor; ~45 mins
Innis: Bit of Luck, touch spell held
[unsure if that is a true wall beside me or just some sort of guard for the stairs]
Innis will channel to harm the undead

The creatures scream as the wave of positive energy passes over them.
GM Aumakua |

Party's Turn
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
My Judgement gives me Fire Resistance 2 until the end of combat...does that not work here?
Merelda backs down the hallway 5 feet to get out of immediate melee/burn range.
She then tries her cantrip against undead again since the creatures reacted to Innis's channeled energy.
Disrupt Undead RTA: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
I don't know if I still have Innis's +2 bonus on attacks still. I don't think I do. I also might have still provoked an AoO even if the corner of the hallway blocks some of the attack?
Lililinda |
Lililinda cringes a little as she notices the attention turned her way. "Oh dear."
She sends another missile at the same target, then pulls out her potion in case things get bad.
missile damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Drawing potion of cure moderate wounds
GM Aumakua |
Both of you are correct. Apologies no damage to either of you. The attack would still provoke to my knowledge Merelda but you +2 to AC
The missile flies from the wand hitting the creature again.
Kirzon |
"I'll hold 'em off 'nless anyone can actually stab 'em!"
Unless anyone else tells him they want the front line, Kirzon continues to play chicken with the spirit, staying between it and the party while dodging its attacks at the last second. Total Defense.
If someone does decide they want the front line for some reason, Kirzon instead falls back to make space. Would be a withdraw action to avoid an AOO.
Nicias |
Pulling out another of his Raining arrows, Nicias aims at the wall of the corner by the 2 creatures
AC 5 on the intersection between D/E and !/2

Nope no bonus from me atm i keep the info up to date on my turns

GM Aumakua |
sorry all busy past week things should return to normal now
The creature attacks Merelda as she attempts to let loose her ray. The creature hits this time and Merelda feels the searing sensation rip into her flesh while an unnatural pain wracks her body from the inside.

burning undead aoo: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
damage: 1d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + (3) = 9
The burning undead continues to strike at Merelda. This time the elf is ready and ducks as the creature lashes out.

Party's Turn.
still need to resolve Merelda's Reflex check
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Reflex Save!: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Done. Question? Is part of its normal attack fire based as well? If it is then I can reduce that fire damage by 2 points right? I'm assuming the other damage is supernatural in origin?
Seeing the effect of Nicias holy water Arrow, Merelda has an idea. Taking another step back Merelda will cast her last cure spell on herself in haste. Then as part of her move action she will try and dig her waterskin out.
CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Ok, so that is 8 pts total various damage after fire reductions, and 7 pts healing. Net = -1hp? That look right?
GM Aumakua |
Yes part of its attack is fire based and yup you reduce it by 2 points. Other damage is definitely supernatural! oops and yes after you heal you are at net -1 hp
