Rey's hand swats at the air harmlessly as she tries to find her invisible companion. "Tis my curse and doom to be buried in a tomb, Lord Commander. I'm called 'Ulzaada". Watch over the pond that was what I ordered when I was condemned by my Mistress. It's hard to remember - now - what minor transgression I once committed but this is my curse."
As long as Sargon is invisible she shows not sign of turning visible herself.
Sargon The War Sage |
Sargon will become visible.
I understand all too well about what a minor transgression will earn you Ulzaada, tell me how much of this tomb have you explored. Perhaps we can help one another.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Mother |
Once Sargon turns visible Ulzaada comes into view. "My confinement has been to a limited area." She spreads her arms wide to the pond room and the hallway you first came down. She then shows you her palm, "Torture both the mind and body with lonely confinement. Yes...Yes." She blinks rapidly. "There is a special passage to the cells through that wall. It's not trapped, I removed that horror eons ago."
"My Mistress was Tzolo and she supervised the construction of this tomb herself. You should know General how odd that is, to spend so much time with such as task, but Tzolo foresaw her glorious return to power."
Dragox |
"Is there a secret to getting through that hidden door? Or can we just walk through it? Will you let us pass through to door without any problems?"
Mother |
Can you tell us what truths are behind that door Ulzaada?
"DEATHHHHHHHHHHHHH! She snaps back. "Death lays behind those doors, cells of torture, a crypt and stone faces." She starts to slap her face and nod her head furiously. Then she ramps incoherently surely a sign of insanity after such a long time in isolation.

I thank you for your assistance Ulzaada, You are welcome to accompany us in our quest to escape from this accursed tomb
"My Mistress was Tzolo and she supervised the construction of this tomb herself. You should know General how odd that is, to spend so much time with such as task, but Tzolo foresaw her glorious return to power."
I am well aquainted with Tzolo and the ways of the sorcerers, Tzolo will not have a glorious return to power on my watch.
Sargon The War Sage |
I see...Is this because of some compulsion you are under? I can try and break that or perhaps false evidence appearing real i.e. fear. Confronting your fears will free you Ulzaada
Sargon The War Sage |
Some people just can't be helped Sargon says as he goes invisible and follows the group

Dragox's patience dwindles while the old lady rambles, he decides to push through the secret door. A suction sound grabs Omar's attention as he fears a trap, but that concern quickly dissipates when he realizes it was just the door seal. You are looking a long hall lined with iron doors. Then to the east is a shorter hallway leading into dark room.
What are you going to do?
baldwin the merciful |
The door are too packed together to get a safe 20' distance behind the thief. There are 10 iron doors on either side of the hallway. Omar inspect the first door on the his right (-K: 27 when looking at the map.) The door is locked and on quick scan they all look locked. Even after Omar picks the first lock the door is stuck closed. DC 20 Str check.
To expedite the description each door is locked most appear stuck. So, Dragox make 4 str checks over DC 20. I'll apply them to the various cells.
Omar are you checking the cells one row/side at a time alternating crossing over right side then left?
Dragox |
Str check 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Str check 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Str check 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Str check 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Str check 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

I think our original traveling order had Rey, then Sargon, then Gauthier, but without Gauthier that would put Sargon in the rear? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Rey, wary of insane old crows, turns around and keeps her eye on the old bag as Omar and Dragox methodically open the iron cell doors.
baldwin the merciful |
Sargon keeps glancing back towards the old lady, while Rey scratches out her map and she keeps an eye on side the corridor. Wondering: What's done there?
Meanwhile Omar and Dragox methodically open cell doors. Once the first door is pried open the cell reveals a heap of dried straw, two wooden buckets, a wooden stool, a chipped wooden bowl and singular spoon. The remains of a skeletal occupant manacled to the far wall, the bones chipped, splintered, and bearing old fractures.
As you work your way down the cells, each cell is a snap shot of same tortured scene.
I will assume you are proceeding unless someone speaks up otherwise.
Sargon The War Sage |
Sargon will give each room a cursory glance with Detect Magic but otherwise will move along
baldwin the merciful |
You come to the next cell which is unlike the others, this one has no back wall. Rather it leads into a long dark hallway that seems to diminish the light. Sargon you don't detect any magic when you get to the doorway. As Sargon takes a quick look, Omar and Dragox check out a few more cells which all appear similar to the first few: cold, dank death pens.
Omar eventually gets to the end of the corridor of cells and it turns sharply 90 degrees leading to another long hall that ends at a stone face.
You have four options: 1) what looks like a dark hall that is inside one of the cells, 2) you have a corridor at the end of the all that leads to a stone face, 3) you have the other side side of the cells to open and look at, and 4) finally you have the hallway near the door that you walked in.
Sargon The War Sage |
That sounds like plan Omar
Reyondelee |
Just one second gentlemen. Rey says, and then casts silence on the old crone. After following her men out of the radius of the silence she says, Hopefully that keeps her from casting any magic or warning people of our approach.
baldwin the merciful |
You find similar cells, each occupied by brittle bones, until you get back towards a cell near the pond room. As you get the cell ("A" on the map) the old crone approaches in a near panic, her eyes wide. As you pull the door open, the old crone flails her arms in the air.
The cell contains a fresh dank smell, the small bunk has a few thread-bare blankets on it and a pot has fresh human waste in it. There is few mundane items within, including a crude one eyed doll with long dark hair, it has a thin stick tied to it's side and curly whip attached to one arm.
A sense motive check.
Sargon The War Sage |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5...Apparently not my thing either
baldwin the merciful |
Sargon and Omar are too on edge to really notice the fine details of this interaction, their heads on swivels scouring the corridors.
Meanwhile, Dragox notices how nervous the old crone is when the cell door is opened.
What are you going do and which way are you heading next?
Dragox |
"Watch her! I think we are probably at her home right now. Sargon, make sure she doesn't attack us from the rear. I don't trust her!"
Mother |
What are you are going to do and which way are you heading.
The old lady slinks forward wide eyed, frantically looking from the door of the cell to Dragox. She points back to her chest. Her other palm is up and out in a nonthreatening manner. She is mouthing something but because of the silence spell you all inside the radius not.
Reyondelee |
Rey makes hand signals that equate to dropping the silence spell and then looks at Sargon, Omar, and Dragox questioningly. She very overtly mouths the words, Drop. The. Silence?
