Dragox |
Dragox would probably wait, as wearing his heavy armor, it would be tough for him. Unless the others don't want to go, then he would make sure Omar isn't left on his own down there.

Omar slips on down the rope and takes a quick look around before his companions follow. You don't see any obvious foes...yet. You notice the single iron door and it looks pretty impregnable to your eyes. the pool of water is crystal clear and there is a silver ladle under the water near one of the corners. Your hesitant eyes flicker quickly at the water and you don't feel any unusual enchantments and you don't see any colorful fish swimming.
Omar bin Zayed |
"Well there's a pool down here with a ladle in it. Maybe if I was suicidal I'd try to drink from the pool. There's a door that I'll check out. "
and he moves to the door and examines it for traps.

Dragox |
Dragox tries to lower himself down the role and follow his friend. He makes care to not touch anything that Omar hasn't given the okay signal on, though.
baldwin the merciful |
Omar thinks perhaps adamantine could do the trick, so he tests his hypothesis and pulls out his kukri. He presses the point and scratches, but remarkably there isn't even a scuff.
Meanwhile Dragox tries to avert his eyes from the cool looking pool of crystal-clear water. But unlike another pool this one holds no enchantment over him. Soon his eyes fall onto the silver ladle Looks valuable. Enough to fund his brothers in arms: Everbright Crusdaers.

DMPC'ing Sargon: (to move the story forward a bit)
The invisible flying sorcerer floats on down and sends a chill down Dragox's neck. The on edge Paladin is quick to draw steel but the General's voice calms him down. Sargon looks at the silver ladle and notice's it has writing engraved in on it. Speaking a few arcane words a magical hand appears under the water and lifts the ladle clear. the Cools crisp water drips off the shiny metal.
He reads the script in Taalise out loud, "Iron portal locked up tight. Pound and pull with all your might. Precious metal waters clay. Earthen being makes the way."
Sargon The War Sage |
So if I understand this, use the ladle on the clay?
Is there a dirt patch in here
Sargon The War Sage |
I'm sure this isn't a trap Sargon says sarcastically.
Shall we try the west one? Sargon will hover between Dragox and Omar
Dragox |
If no one objects, the paladin will take the ladle and pour the water onto the one that Sargon pointed out. "Be ready, everyone!"
Reyondelee |
After updating her map Rey says: Am I the only one who thinks this is going to end with us fighting a giant earth elemental? Even so, she puts away her map bits and pieces, and summons her instrument, ready to lend some musical courage to her allies should they need it.

The mud bubbles and begins to take shape of a heavily muscled human with a camel's head. As the middle patch of dirts greedily drinks the ladle full of water. To Rey and Sargon's chagrin they realize the mud is forming into a golem, but unlike most mud golems which have an amorphous shape this one appears to have a distinct appearance.

Rey did you climb down into the room? I don't believe you ever said that you did. Sargon and Omar are you ok with you placement on the map?
The mud golem is now on the map and it is large.

Reyondelee |
Actually, no I never did say that she climbed down because I wanted to wait and see what my betters found down there... That said, I don't know how Rey would have commented on the mud puddles and elementals if she hadn't been down there? Should we just retcon and say she climbed down just before making the adjustments to her map?
Sargon The War Sage |
Shall we friends, while still enhanced by my magic
Sargon The War Sage |
Hemket will wait to see if it opens the door. That's why we summoned it after all.
Hemket is in Osiria man, that's a loooong ways away
Reyondelee |
Reyondelee descends the ladder into the room, summons her instrument, and begins to play a soft and lulling melody, focusing her attention on the elemental.
I'm going to attempt to fascinate the elemental, since it doesn't seem to be attacking, so that I can then try and make a suggestion that it opens the door for us. Fascinate is a mind-affecting effect and a compulsion. Not sure if elementals are capable of being affected by those or not? If so the DC of the will save is 24.
Reyondelee |
I was worried about that. Probably Reyondelee would have known that at this point in her career as well... I guess I'll leave the action and play it off as her wondering if perhaps the Mud Sorcerers were capable of creating "intelligent," and therefore vulnerable, elementals.
Edit: Are you sure? I don't see mind-affecting immunity under the elemental subtype?
baldwin the merciful |
some of the confusion is whether a mud golem is an elemental thus not immune to mind effect, versus a construct which is immune to mind effect. The mud golem as written in the dungeon magazine is a construct.
That being said Sargon realizes it may be a language issue and he speaks in Taalise. The golem responds by going to the door and opening it. He steps aside thereafter.
Sargon The War Sage |
I don't know how I feel about a creature in an evil tomb just opening the door for us
Sargon The War Sage |
The thought did cross my mind
Dragox |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"Well Sargon, tell him thank you, why don't you? Thank you," the paladin says slowly and loudly, thinking the construct might understand him this time.
