Are there any orphaned games?
Seems like we did have a serious case of RL hitting many GMs with stuff.

I don't really know, but it would make sense to me if it was.

Well, for those of you that I was talking to about it, I met with my VC today and my Venture-Agency is underway. He's emailing me the paperwork tonight and endorsing me and as soon as it's approved I'll be the only Venture Agent operating in my area, so my mission is to find and train a few more PFS gm's so that I can work on being made a Venture Lieutenant as soon as the area and I are ready.

Thanks to everyone that helped me out on here and gave me the info, tips, and courage to get the ball rolling. :)

Well earned!

Me again! With another humble request for Gm help. This time, it's a little trickier.

GM Baerlie was intent on running all three portions of the Glories of the Past series. Because of the events that have cropped up in her RL this past year, we have only begun part 2. With that in mind, my fellow players and I are looking for a replacement GM to take us through the remaining portions (whatever is left of part 2 and all of part 3).

The thread is here.

Thanks!

*blink*

I'll offer my services, I've already taken over one of GM Baerlie's games though so I am hesitant to agree to take over another -- don't want to be a vulture.

It isn't being a vulture - it is a community service.

Failed PbP games create a distrust of the medium, and every failed game is another reason for good players to decide not to come back.

I used to participate in a lot of non-pfs pbp, however after having very little success as player in pbp in a range of homebrews and published modules and AP's, I came to the decision I would no longer participate in them. I now exclusively stick to PFS scenarios as a player and am extremely wary of anything with a longer commitment.

What gets me is that adventures with a time horizon as short as a scenario so routinely end up needing a rescue. That is no criticism of the GM's, things happen, and player fade is as bad or worse.

Jump in, jump early, and save as many games as are needing saving.

Yeah, everything Shifty just said. I got into pbp playing AP's and homebrew campaigns that had massive timeframes, and every one of them but one (and it's been going strong for years now, and is on it's third GM and only three of the original six players. I now exclusively play PFS online because of the short timeframes and the success rate of scenarios.

That being said, RL happens. People end up starting games and not being able to finish them, and everyone in this community gets that. I've seen it firsthand when I was out of commission from my stint in ICU for a couple of months. Everyone was incredibly understanding, the long-term games I was playing in accepted me back with open arms, the games I was running were finished by other GM's, and I couldn't have been happier.

Once I get my wifi situation sorted out, I'll be back in the GM saddle on here, and I'll be helping out with orphaned games as well. Especially since I'll be a Venture Agent in the next day or two and will have more access to scenarios and will be able to pick up way more games than I currently can without spending cash.

I love this community and how it operates. I love how there's no negativity and no drama. I love how we all band together to help out, and make PFS work in the online media. Let's all keep on keeping on and play some pathfinder guys.

I ♥ this community! Although I play in a couple of non-PFS games in play-by-post, I love how we all support each other here, rescuing each other's games and making sure that they happen. I ♥ Flaxseed!

Yeah I've jumped in and will save them. Halls of dwarven glory is such a fun scenario series.

GM V has seemed to disappear in 2 games. One we're just waiting on chronicles. The 2 games are part of the last game day. can anyone help ou?

This was asked in Recruitment, but it fits better in Discussion, I think?

Not an official answer, but based on my perspective and thinking the logic process goes something along these lines...

If a particular race has too many advantages/abilities/disruptive capabilities, then it can lead to an imbalance in a party and in racial demographics.

This was highlighted when they had Aasimar and Tiefling available, from my understanding.

There was a mad dash by a few folks (including some unscrupulous sorts) to 'stockpile' the overpowered races so they'd always have the 'ultimate scenario shut-down' race before even having a character concept for them.

Subsequently, campaign leadership took a step back, learned from that lesson, and slowly started introducing races via boons (earned from GMing at conventions or other venues) while monitoring the abuse of each race and the impact each one had on the campaign.

As a result, as time has gone by, the Tien Xia races (Tengu, Kitsune, Wayang, Nagajii) have slowly become a bit more prevalent and haven't been as horrifically disruptive as some of the other races, which led to the most recent season of opening up the elemental races (except for the 'special case' of suli, which is still GM boon if memory serves).

My guess?

Taking it slow and steady to make sure that things aren't disruptive and griefing-prone before introducing them is why more aren't available -- though admittedly there's a few that probably won't ever see the light of play (Strix, for example) because they render many encounters moot in scenarios just via their presence (ie, flight@ L1).

Having seen a space opera campaign where *all* races were available all the time and some of the disruption that could occur from such a thing, taking it with due caution is a prudent path of development, imo.

If someone has more insight it would be greatly appreciated!

Ward Asunder (waiting for chronicles) and Beyond Azlant Ridge. I emailed Jesse too.

Here is the profile page for the game. I'm not 100% what is visible if you haven't joined, but I can walk you through it. (Though I'm about to hop on a conference call for work in 5.)

MW is a great site. It has quite a different feel to here. Games tend to be much slower (my guess is about half the pace they are often played here), but people use more images in their posts and the RP quality is often a more prioritised element.

Liberty's Edge

I'm Son of Meepo on Myth-Weavers. I've been a part of that community for serveral years now. We're a smaller group, but we do have a core group of dedicated players and GMs. Like on the Paizo forums, GMs step up to rescue games when the original GM has real-life issues that get in the way,

Some things I like about the Myth-weavers forum are the more robust post formatting options and the integration with the Myth-Weavers character sheets.

Well. I made a profile. I'm GM Hmm on Myth Weavers! Woo! Yeah, I went for name recognition. I just want to make sure that I know a little of what Myth Weavers is like, especially since I'm transferring to the online venture team at some point in the murky future.

The other homework that I've given myself is to actually play a VTT sometime. I want to understand each of the online sub-communities enough to not be a total idiot if someone tosses me a question about them.

Hmm

Liberty's Edge

We're in a bit of a post game-day recruiting lull at the moment on Myth-weavers. There are a handful of games currently ongoing. I'm waiting to finish up the game I inherited here from the gameday before getting my group back together there for Faithless and Forgotten Part 3 (because running more than one table over the holidays is always a recipe for disaster). Once I'm done with that I plan to keep at least on game going on Myth-Weavers as much as I can.

Now, I'm sure I'm about to set some sort of record here. And I am sorry about it. However, GM Alias is no longer able to keep on GMing our game of Cult of the Ebon Destroyers. The rest of the group seems fine with the idea of going onward, we are just waiting to hear back from two others.

If you have a hankering for creating shenanigans in the magical land of Vudra, our party is willing!

Thanks guys...

It came with a pass the parcel and I now have a con to plan and execute in January that wasn't on my radar - but hey necessity and all that.

January:
Pathfinder Family Day & BBQ by the water (shrimp on the barbie, mate)
PbP Community Multi kicks off
Fourplay 4 day convention (My 'VC surprise' - so far I have a list of GM's and a venue... success!)

Feb
Aust East Coast Interactive 3 con, 3 day'er.

But first, a holiday!

The most important thing you need to learn about leadership: how to delegate. Get a volunteer to help plan one (or more) of those events for you. If they do a good job, make them your venture-lieutenant. :)

(Another player from Upaynao's table, was coming to post about this and saw they'd already done so. Previous GM said we're about 25% through the module, we have at least 4 players solidly willing to continue I believe. I know it's a module, and that's a big commitment to ask a GM, but we'd be appreciative if so! Cheers. I would also be happy to gift-purchase the module if the GM needs it.)

Pretty sweet! I have the normal white box of that, my mother saw it in a second-hand store for a dollar and grabbed it for me. Can't justify $5700 for a woodgrain, would prefer to fly to Gygax's house and take selfies in his front yard or something.
