The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

didn't miss it, Shoshin is currently heading to the infirmary to check on Iolth

Meanwhile, right when Phaezariel was talking to Vai, the infirmary doors swing open and a strange duo rush in. One is a vaguely swirling deck of cards, every once in a while remembering to stay together enough to look like a teenager. Phaezariel can probably recognize her as a ghaele azata from her aura.

In the card-azata's arms, there is a shivering, convulsing silver-haired boy with wings and horns. (Full body, his face looks like the picture above.) He has a dark, red crackling energy about him, and he's obviously in incredible psychic trauma.

The angel-card thing looks up at Phaeze. "If I was an archon, you would most likely be dead on the floor right now. But judging by your appearance, I think you've been redeemed. I'm guessing you can help Iolth, since the arrows lead me to you?"

In case this was missed.

It was not missed. Paizo ate my reply.

Phaezeriel turns to the newcomers at the door to Vai's room, his featureless silver eyes unreadable. His thoughts come clearly to anyone who would be in range to hear his voice had he spoken aloud, ::Please forgive me, Vai, I must attend to this emergency. I will return as soon as I am able.:: He begins moving almost as soon as he begins speaking, gesturing for the Azata to precede him from the room. As soon as they are in the hallway, he shuts the door to Vai's room and gestures again for the Azata to bring the boy as he leads the way to the room next door.

Shutting the door behind them he indicates the bed in the center of the room, ::Please place him on the bed and start by telling me what has happened to him.::

Phaezeriel seems to be ignoring her earlier rudeness, though something in his manner indicates irritation.

Making her rounds, Nurse Julie comes upon a new emergency in the infirmary.

seeing one of the more experienced staff on the scene, she goes to assist.

she immediately comes to Phaezeriel's side and starts to make preps for the standard medical scans and setting up the standard Trauma equipment.

Cultist City Assault

There's a disembodied chuckle in the air and a voice more heard in people's minds, versus heard by ears, speaks in whatever language is most familiar with the receiver.

Clearly-- demon 'speak' at work.

"I find it amusing, the three of you, young in body, perhaps not in mind and soul, come into homes of our minions, to what end? Wreck havoc and kill? Sounds like murder, if you were to ask certain beings. Yet, you seem to lack an understanding of what truly is going on, fixated on our Gates. Worse yet, out right ignoring the proposals made of you. Are you truly ignorant of the situation as stated? I laugh at the prospect, no one is that fool hardy to merely leap into the maw of the Abyss, not even you, Prince-ling who has yet to identify itself. How can we be proper hosts if all you wish is violence? If you are not a part of the situation, and do not return the Chosen One within the allotted time, leave. We know where you came from, if not originally, but in time we will learn such too."

Another Gate spawns, and behind it, one can see the front of Avalon's main doors from without.

"Your bravado is meaningless against us, nor do we have time to deal with children."

There's no specific direction the voice came from. The sense of something 'watching' is now quite pronounced. That remaining Gate stays open, however, perhaps tempting the students with the chance to leap through, into one of the layers of the Abyss.

"But, since you offered..." he sits down on something near the portal "...explain the details of your deal with these folks. I can stop killing them long enough to hear your master plan, I suppose. Maybe we can all benefit from it."

Kaetar places him on the bed. "Iolth first got his powers in a ritual to bind Szuriel, the Horseman of War, to a mortal form. It worked... and it didn't work. Somehow, chronomancy got involved, and although in this reality Iolth doesn't have the Horseman inside of him, he's inextricably bound to the other reality. Iolth gets his powers by siphoning bits of energy from his other self. However, when they're in the 'same' place, they sort of... resonate. Iolth normally has a filter in the form of a deck of harrow cards, which absorb a lot of the energy coming through the link, though when they resonate, the deck overloads. The existing daemonic power inside the deck plus the unrestrained power coming through the other side of the bond sends Iolth into a catatonic state, in which the power accumulates. When he hits max of what his body can hold, Iolth explodes. I rerouted the power into the wards surrounding the planet, so he should be fine for now. Hopefully, somebody at this school can actually undo the link, unbinding Iolth from the other timeline. I was hoping you could help." Kaetar says all of this extremely rushed.

DC 15 Sense Motive:

Kaetar clearly cares for Iolth very much.

Anybody in the school with rudimentary knowledge/control/sense of time:

You feel a great disturbance in the Force... Two timelines are somehow touching each other, linking and creating a lot of energy. If you focus on it, you can sense it coming from the infirmary.

@ Iolth: If I had my TARDIS....

Mel was sitting in Engineering class, apparently getting a bit bored at the lectures, it seemed that after the first time it was presented much of it just seemed to "click" but several other students really had a hard time graping some of the concepts.

suddenly her head "pops" up, something strange is going on.

What the? I haven't had that feeling since...the other day during...

raising her hand May I be excused to use the rest room? hoping that the little rest room ruse would work, but having just helped Vai, it couldn't be happening again, Could it?

after some batting of eyelashes and a pleading look she eventually is dismissed.

Once in the hallway, she pulls out her sonic and starts to trace the fluctuation. she still has no idea why she felt it, but it was there, and she definitely did not want a repeat of the other day, one lightning bolt to the chest is enough thank you very much..

As Shoshin looks inside the door, he sees Iolth convulsing with red magical energy. A strange looking larger-than-normal blue quasit with silvery eyes is flitting about, and you get snatches of telepathic conversation.

A nurse is flitting around making preparations, and Kaetar is sitting by Iolth worriedly.

"Hey, Shoshin. Nice to see you coming here to support Iolth."

Lyn:

A lot of excess energy is coming into the wards. It seems to be emanating from the infirmary.

He steps into the room, leaning against the wall "Making sure a friend's okay is the least I can do" he watches as Iolth convulses, "how bad is he?"

Phaezeriel is most certainly not 'flitting about'. He is standing beside the bed upon which Iolth is laying, and is displeased with the intrusion. His telepathic communications are currently directed only to Kaetar and Shoshin will not catch any stray 'snatches'; until Phaezeriel addresses him directly, that is.

Shoshin the Fox wrote:

Phaezeriel's head snaps around at the intrusion, his mental voice is cold and inflexible, ::This patient is currently not allowed visitors. It is not acceptable to simply enter a treatment room without checking with the infirmary staff first. Please remove yourself, and, if you must wait, do so in the waiting area until he is allowed visitors. Thank you.::

When Shoshin steps back outside, he finds that the infirmary has rearranged itself significantly. Planted squarely in the path of the main entry doors is a Nurse's station/reception desk where several orderlies are working. Off to one side there are several chairs arranged in a group; a waiting area. There are several hallways radiating out from this central room that all have private treatment rooms off of them. There is even one locked and obviously high security ward.

Since you are not currently contagious and are currently in control of yourself you are going to be allowed to leave the isolab. But not the school building yet. If you lose control of the other one and attack someone you will be teleported to the white room just like anyone else would be if they attacked someone here. The white room is a sensory deprivation chamber. It's intended to give people somewhere to cool down. If you can't regain control of yourself after being sent to the white room then you'll be sent back here to the isolab. You are going to be restricted to the school building for now, however. At least until you gain greater control over yourself. The greater your control, the greater your degrees of freedom will become," she explained as she typed.

So after the maftet said he was done investigating and it was okay to move my body, did anyone actually pick it up and head back towards the school? Or am I still laying in the forest?

After a while the tears finally stopped. Luckily there were plenty of tissues on hand.

"Are you okay now?" Raelle asked Morrivan anxiously.

The voice continues after a moment, any humour or the like missing from it, perhaps lost in translation, or clarifying it's disinterest in the situation, boredom perhaps?

It remains mentally heard, yet not audible to the ears.

"Well now. I offer you the respect of your perceived royalty, yet, you come into this place and slaughter, without any respect for who owns the mortals here. You are an interesting one. What are your titles and the like, I would know who I speak with-- or if you are worth my time. So far, you are a wild card, or fool hearty adventurer, with no understanding of what is going on here. Still, I shall explain it, so it's clear."

There's the equivalent of a throat clearing, and it continues.

"A challenge was placed, upon those of Chaos, and those of Order, with a date etched in the fabric of Fate. The 'pretty' as you call it, is a piece of that challenge-- which, until just earlier, we were in a position to seal and demonstrate our prowess. Call it politics, showmanship, or even restraint, but ...we have the being who initiated the change in direction now, and then there you, and your ...pets?"

Another slight pause.

"You, of royalty, I take the time to speak with out of possible respect. Those other two with you, I care nothing about or for. Of you three, you so far, are the most threatening due to what you have demonstrated, and interesting, perhaps as a new relation."

"Return the girl now, and I shall return the," an odd pause in it's thinking/voice here, "one, who brought about our meeting. Seems fair enough, no? One for another? If you need assistance traveling, I will offer this without any conditions, from one of status to another-- unless your expression of self worth fails to impress me."

-----

The remaining Gate stays as before, the boundaries between the two planes melding and the Abyssal presence infusing itself into the stone and chamber the students are in.

Fairly common stuff if you're used to living in the Abyss, but, for most Prime Material dwellers, it's getting ...odd here. The Universe's way of saying, 'This isn't right.'

Does that mean I have to take classes or something like that?"

"Well, that's up to you, Jessa. We won't force you to take classes, but the option is open to you. You don't need to make a decision about that right now," she said, walking over to the door and opening it, gesturing for Jessa to follow her.

The tunnel leading out of the isolab is long and has a couple of decontamination stations they have to pass through, although they are currently shut down so it's just walking through them as opposed to going through the whole process. Eventually they reach another door.

"We'll be stepping into the infirmary so things may be a little crazy at first. It will be somewhat quieter once we get out into the hallway."

Engineer / Gearmage

A vehicle of sorts is driving towards Kuros, its Hover-Engine and the design in general, is rather antiquated, but is unlike any other engine that has been seen, its rider having created it out of a template that only he can imagine, its antigravitational drive is powered by clockwork. The brass and copper construction is regulated by a crank mounted in the handlebars. The rider of the bike is a human of adolescent age, his rebellious blue hair spiked up over his heavily tinted goggles.

The bike begins to slow as he spots the construction work that is going on, He had been told that the city was supposed to be industrious, but the remnants of burnt building was not a good sign.

Though most hoverbikes are very quiet, Romulus' creation is completely silent except for the pushing of pistons and the ticking of the unique engine that powered the vehicle. Bringing the vehicle to a complete stop near one of the dwarves that is overseeing a repair crew, Romulus dismounts, and walks over to the Overseer.

"Hello, ummm... Two things, if you have a moment.... ummm.... What happened here, and uhhh... where is the ummmm.... I can't recall what its called, but its a... uhh... engineering... place"

Despite his rebellious appearance, and outfit of sturdy leather, Romulus is still in a definite awkward phase, only truly comfortable doing something he knows how to do.... and talking to people is certainly not one of those things.

Jeran gets the mental equivalent of a shrug, but the level of possible concern for 'Sam would probably surprise him.

"Well, I'm known as Casseus Rex. I'm not giving you my real name. You can tell by looking at me that I'm a prince, that will have to do.

Who is it that you claim to have taken?"

"Plague. Nasty kind. Turned people into violent zombie things. All over now, but they did a lot of damage before it got contained. Lots of casualties," the dwarf said gruffly. "If you're looking for the factories, they're about a mile or so that way, but nobody's there today. Everybody's here trying to fix the town. If you're looking for the boss, I hear he's over at the town hall."

I'm diffusing his energy into the wards around the school right now. As for the blast radius... 666 mile radius of Prime Material destroyed... and replaced with Abbadon. Really nasty. As for the deck, it should be on Iolth's person right now."

Phaezeriel looks at the boy, ::Please retrieve this Harrow deck and place it beside him. I am going to begin examining this link and the state of the boy's mind. Please do not disrupt me or him other than to retrieve the deck while I am doing this.:: He looks to Nurse Julie, ::Nurse, please fetch one of the emergency null psi field gems and stand by with it.::

Phaezeriel moves to the head of the bed, lowering it to more easily reach his patient. Placing his fingertips on Iolth's temples, Phaezeriel closes his eyes. If Kaetar has the ability to sense such things, there are suddenly two minds residing withing Phaezeriel and both minds are manifesting a huge amount of psychic energy as Phaezeriel begins examining Iolth's mind, aura, physical condition, and all magical or psychic effects currently affecting him.

Kaetar snatches a strange looking Harrow deck from Iolth's pocket. If one examines it, you can see that all of the cards are twisted, somehow, distorted into a dark reflection.

The azata's mouth goes wide as you schism your mind, but makes no comment.

Phaezariel:

As you delve into Iolth's mind, you can see carnage happening all around. A massive, horned being, flickering with green flame and aloft on six dark wings, is barely staving off attacks by a variety of students. You can see Fei and Vai in the midst of the chaos, clutching each other's hands as they lend each other strength. If Phaezariel has knowledge of such things, he will notice that every single student fighting it is a Champion. Brimstone and hellrime is crashing to the ground, and Avalon is in chaos. You can vaguely "hear" Ryleh-who you now see in dragon form-telepathically yelling ::LOOK FOR HIS WEAK POINTS! ALL OF THE SEEDS HAVE ONE!:: The carnage continues... You realize that Iolth is watching from the eyes of the massive daemon. The Horseman is unintentionally sending all nine of its senses through the chonomancy link.

Iolth's aura is strange. You sense overwhelming magic energy and a little psionic energy in Iolth's auras, and it's color is screaming contrast: blue, red, white, grey... It shouldn't even be possible. It's not one aura is overlaying or mixing with the other, it's like they're both there on the same time.

As for his physical condition, Iolth is in extreme pain, his body wracked with magical energy. Other that the raw, primal magical energy practically destroying his body, there seems to be nothing out of the ordinary.

"Good to see you came to class. Next we can work on being on time to the class. Now, if you would take a seat, we can begin. Am I correct in guessing that you are Ms.Rena?"
After the confirmation, he produces a sheet of paper.
"Now, I'm going to ask you all about several school subjects. This will help me to know what we need to go over in this class. Once I know this, I will start real lessons tomorrow. Before lunch we will have lessons and then after, we'll explore other classes like music and art, to see what you may be interested in when you move on to the full school courses. If you think you know an answer, just raise a hand. First is mathematics..."
He will go on to asks questions about various subjects. Math, science, history, biology, magic, etc. Every once in a while, in place of a question, he gestures to a poster or object to be identified.

Sil wanders the halls, not currently caring about going right to the headmaster. The incident with Asha was troubling, or rather hearing about this Embre. He knew he had to seek peace and alliances among the races and cultures of the world, and yet here was some guy who continuously hurt a beautiful young girl like Asha for seemingly no other reason than he could. The Lycans were bad, but he had never encountered such blatant abuse among them.

Spoiler:
I'm not sure if I should point out that she's supposed to be in the remedial class which takes the first three blocks because those would be some interesting interactions, or let her just go to art class because that would be an interesting interaction...

Asha knows basic reading with limited vocabulary, some firebird history of a rather skewed sentiment, and that's pretty much it. She doesn't know how to count higher than ten, or anything else to do with math, has never held a pencil before and has no idea how to write, and has never been taught anything regarding magic or science. She is however a fairly bright girl and she absorbs knowledge like a sponge. The biggest challenge in teaching her will be keeping her energy and curiosity reined in so that she can actually pay attention to a lesson instead of getting drawn off on tangents. That and her complete ignorance of social interactions.
