Sorry for crappy response. Phones grrr!
"Pleasure to meet you Shay-peer Dun-bar-lo-ka-ra-too-ki." Rena answers a bit haltingly, ensuring that she pronounced the name properly.
"Are you a transmuter then? A wizard? Don't worry, I'm used to magic so I won't resist it,...
"Excellent-- yes, I am an expert in transformation magics, turning one thing into another. You'll have to forgive my dramatic nature," motioning to the book and drawing, "but, magic is lovely and should be displayed with pride, don't you think?"
After watching the drawing for a few, clearly this is a person that enjoys their work, he turns smiling back at Rena and adds, "Instincts? To what degree do you want the transformation to go? Anything is possible with magic, obviously, it's just a matter of the right power and style."
Looking back at Rena, he then asks, "So tell me the dream you have, which prompted this, and we'll start planning out the details, fair?"

As Dom stood in the center of the lake. A large movement on the waters surface alerted him. He looked to ward the source unworried. What he saw however unnerved him for a moment. A black dragon had been swimming here while he was thinking had it not surfaced Dom may have not noticed till it was to late. He stood there watching in curiosity. He had heard countless tails of dragons destroying villages and attacking cities in the past, but He had also heard of dragons living in peace here. He had even befriended one without knowing.
As he watched he couldn't see any malice in the dragons actions in stead it was joy he saw. He slowly made his way to the lake side. As he finally made it to the the opposite side of the lake a pretty young girl arrived. Her small delicate frame reminded him so much of the fan girls he once wooed in the past. Soon it was obvious the girl had came to great the dragon. It however startled him to see her transform in to dragon and join the other in to the water. At first he was enamored by the majestic sight of the two flowing though the water in peace, but he decided soon after that he should leave the two in peace.

Given what Phae and the others have already pointed out, you'd be in similar awareness as they are, without any rolls. It's /most/ likely something that interacts with Demons, or is a Demon of some sort. Please don't take my trying to skip rolling skills here, but rolling a 35 versus a 45 isn't going to help, this be demon stuff, yo. Any doubt on that highly probably truth is solely at the creation of the PCs, to make sure that is said. The biggest issue here, clearly by design, is the lack of concrete 'facts' to help your research. You'd be compiling a massive, massive list if you simply went for such a broad search. Hope this helps.

"Hmm. When I met her she seemed to have more trust than most would with the student bodies ability to stay calm on there own. I have seen many cases of witch hunts started much the same manner as what happened at that party. At least it's good to know that it is more a situation of I'm new to her rather than her trusting fully in the student body to handle it's own affairs with no fault. I am sure that many of the students are very capable, but it is our job to give guidance and from time to time step in to calm situations."

"Ace" |

Just curious, but what about something upwards of say a +62 to the roll, sans actual rolling?
If that won't get me anything, then its casting time

Damiani |

Could you elaborate on what you're seeking to 'discern' with your Knowledge: Planes? I think my points stated--
Given what Phae and the others have already pointed out, you'd be in similar awareness as they are, without any rolls.
As for any 'curse'? You'd realize it wasn't a curse, but some sort of symbol magic-- which Phae, again, pointed out, was a Demonic Lord mark on Ehos, which vanished at a specific point in time. The moment their initial break up happened. This isn't unique, lots of magic spells are trigger based and not specific to any Demon type/entity. Could be a rune wizard's doing, or a rune cleric even with the proper contingency spell setup.
So you can see, I hope, that your skills aren't the hold up here, it's the sheer lack of information to work off of. Literally-- less than good. You can make up all the deductions you want, but given the facts? Any demon that is interested in mortal virtues (which are all demons, right?) could be responsible. Help me, give me more defined search criteria please.
Let's move this to the Discussion portion, if you please-- or, I'll reply there next.

"Oh! Is that what you meant? No, that's not trusting the students at all. Most of them she doesn't trust in the slightest. That's trusting the wards, which short of actual deific interference, and not just demigod either....this by the way is why the wards don't protect anyone against me when Kryshyykilli'vkk gets all rampagey...technically he's a god I think sort of although extremely limited and location specific and not a very powerful one....relatively speaking. At least that's what my research suggests so far. Anyways, back on topic, short of deific interference the wards would prevent the students from forming an effective lynch mob on campus. As soon as they started to attack with intent to do violence, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop...off to detention they go. Usually in a situation like that it's safe to concentrate your efforts on the students at the center of the situation without worrying too much about the others. And it's usually worth a few extra moments to make sure you round up everyone involved before moving the discussion to a less public location. It takes forever to round people up to answer questions if you don't and really, it's just not worth the trouble. And sometimes it's better to just go ahead and have it out in public. Nothing stops a witch hunt before it starts like a big public airing of actual facts. It's the getting people to hold off on the attacking long enough to get to the fact-sharing that can be difficult, and the wards take care of that."
"And no, it's not at all uncommon for new teachers to have trouble adjusting to this whole 'wards' thing. I still can't watch any of the martial classes in progress. No matter how many times I'm told that nothing teaches like pain and that any maimings are swiftly repaired in the infirmary, it still seems rather barbaric to me."

"It some what explains things, but I have never been one to trust in only one thing. Even when I adventured I trust multiple people to do one task rather than sending only one person. It seems reckless to expect the wards to protect the students all the time. My arrival actually is an example to this, at least from Ryo's explanation of the wards. The wards protect from extra-dimensional travel, which would include extra-universal." He talks of his arrival as though it is an ill-omen. "So I am a little couscous of the wards. They are a useful protection. One that I feel is invaluable to this place, but putting all my trust in it not failing seems foolish to me." He explains knowing that Ori probably didn't know he arrived.

Dara tilts his head, somewhat confused by her offer. He nods slowly, wanting to solve the mystery.
Midori reaches into her holster as if she's about to draw a weapon... but instead she brings forth a birghtly coloured yellow silk ribbon - probably useful as a distraction when tied to a kunai, the ribbon catches the eye quite easily.
She smiles at Dara and closes her eyes. Her horn comes to life suddenly, glowing with a soft white light seemingly from within, and the ribbon turns to steel in her hands.
She opens her golden eyes and smiles at Dara. "See? It won't hurt you anyway."

Vai Sunwake |

Ginni smiled shyly. "That sounds like a good plan. I'm looking forward to it...and dreading it...but mostly looking forward to it."
Vai returns the smile happily. "I'm not sure I would have been able to perform even at the tryouts if I hadn't seen my sister in the crowd. Fieri's the one who taught me the harp and she's always encouraging me, so knowing that she was there watching really helped. I think I would've just froze otherwise."
Vai glances at Mel who is talking to Raelle some ten feet away. She continues a little more quietly, almost conspiratorially. "Melody really helped too when she started backing me up, but don't tell her that. We don't need our band leader getting a big head, y'know?" she winks afterwards and smiles broadly.

Renkai responds and looks calmly at the dwarf, idly scanning his surface thoughts[Carl's mind is blocked from mind reading and such, you can tell with a simple Magic item Knowledge roll say DC 10, the arm braces he has on are doing this]
"Outcast you say, well put it here Renkai Urmas, I'm the same, outcast and sent away"
Carl smiles and offers his hand to you, he dos not however say why hes outcast how ever.
Renkai shakes his hand with his middle finger folded across his palm.
"All are outcasts when they had no clan..."

"Ace" |

Ace decides to call upon some of his divine magicks. He sits upon a table, laying his staff across his lap, and pulls out a pendant that doubles as his holy symbol.
Before he casts his spell though he looks to his friends "Goin to call upon a little deific aid. I was thinking to ask 'What is the best course of action to capture Kara', but if either of you have a better suggestion, I'll gladly ask that instead"

Carl "Ironfist" Promethium |

Carl looks down at the ground, in a introspective voice says,
"Ye no Clan, not unless you can....." he go's silent
He notes the handshake but dos not respond in kind,
[FM or ACDC?]
he say nothing for a moment before looking back up and exclaiming in a proud voice.
"Where I come from, we have a saying, 'The past is like moss on a rock,'To much and ya can-nee see the rock no more', so best not carry to much a lad"
"Alrighty then..."
He calls the 9 ball into the appropriate pocket and...1d100
...knocks it into the pocket.
"Aww yeah."
[Casseus dis you pot the 9 Ball strait or cannon the 1 ball onto the 9 ball to pot it?, it is was start it was a foul, if a Cannon its a win. Ill take it you Cannoned as we can carry on etc.]
Carl stomps his Q, "Next"
Carl seems back to himself again, irascible yet in a strange way joule at the same time.
For a very brief instant, there was a massive temporal anomaly some two miles from the school. Usually that means some sort of time travel.
Other beings in the school which are sensitive to such things may also feel something very briefly amiss.
Then he stops and looks concerned off into the distance,
[Some 2 miles in fact, if you can see magic, Carl seems to have a 3ed eye.]"Now that can't be good lads"

Rena, the Companion |

"Oh, I quite agree. Magic is amazing. I've spent all my life with one who wields magic, though he prefers to conjure new rather than shape existing. You have nothing which requires my forgiveness Shaypeer." Rena says happily in that silky-smooth voice of hers, still bobbing up and down, though when Shaypeer is drawing Rena floats behind him and peers over his shoulder.
"I just... have never had feet before is all. What if I can't walk, or I trip and fall constantly? That is what I would like to avoid if at all possible."
When Shaypeer seems to request a story, Rena settles down a bit, sinking towards the floor and coiling her feathered self up, getting comfortable before talking. "It's more... of a spur of the moment idea. Someone suggested yesterday that I might be able to be a student here - since otherwise I've just been here with my friend who is now teaching Conjuration. I thought it would be... fun... interesting? To learn and fit in. I might be a bit too big for a classroom though, and I don't have hands, so I've never learned to write. Beyond that... I mean. Before coming to Avalon there were very few who were not immediately afraid of me upon seeing me. That is not something I enjoy either."
She doesn't relax fully - her head is still up and alert, so not lethargic by any sense. "It's not that I'm... ashasmed of my form, but I would like people to actually meet me before calling me a mosnter and running away."
