The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

I am sorry about that.

I 100% echo what Lyn said about Igni, but I have been praising you for quite some time about how well you've played him.

You want a ready made, easy amount of RP that isn't too forced? Have him go for a walk/fly, and buzz him by the firebird camp. Pretty sure he's highly visible/recognizable.

Should be interesting to say the least.

As to what I was saying before, pre-made connections don't need to back story write ups like with how I made Silinrul Jai's sister.

The character I have coming in that's based on/inspired by Nico Minoru is going to enter the school in dire need of the medical team, and I've decided Nurse Julie would be a perfect person to aid her.

This gives Ed something to do with a character that doesn't get much screen time, brings my PC to a spot where there tends to be a decent amount of activity, and of course doesn't require Lyn to run plot for, LOL.

Hmm. This is making me think a lot, so I won't respond to it properly for a while.

I still am unsure of Nurse Julie's state of life.

her last patient killed her I believe. but then again death is so non-permanent around here.

Wait, what? She's dead?

Female Human image

I remember there was a student that had some connection to a super demon thing that if he looses control the entire planet would explode or something.

Mel was working sever the connection and nurse Julie was helping. but there was a small explosion that required a reflex save or something and nurse julie was dropped to like negative a lot (even with half damage)

that player has since left the game right after that incident.

but I don't recall if nurse Julie ever came back or we ret-conned the scene or what.

Verris fixed that.

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

Yes, nurse Julie is still alive. I don't remember the exact events, but I know for certain that she was still alive afterwards because there was a whole discussion about it.

Female Human image

thanks Lyn I kind of lost track of those events honestly. but you say she is alive then I will go with that...

These things happen. I usually find I need to spend a couple hours reading a book or watching a movie or something like that when I feel stuck creatively. Not sure if that will work for you, but the suggestion can't hurt. :)

Quick question guys, am I allowed to use blacksteel to create weapons and armor?

Dark Archive

Male Human (half forged) 11 invincable iron man/11 generator

probably,
what are it's stats?

100 hp, 100 hardness, immune to rust effects, dr 2/- light armor, 4/- medium armor, 6/- heavy armor, ignores hardness of 100 or less. Trade off is double armor weight, or one size larger for weapons

Shadow Lodge

Where's it from..?

Convention has been amazing so far, despite the bomb threat yesterday. Sooooo much loot! ^_^

Bomb threat? O_o

Female Firebird Oracle 7

"Psst. Hey... Lyn... How do I tell the difference?..."

Some jerk called in a fake bomb threat. No biggie.

100 hardness seems a bit ridiculous, and ignoring anything less hard is pretty much ignoring everything. How is one suppossed to work this metal?

And this super metal, many times harder than adamantine gives such low DR.

Who created it?

M Extrodinaraly Contrary Meatbag Fourm pyromancer 1

Seriously, why not just use adamanite?

That's reasonable, and still really tough.

You don't need to make somting that is just better in every way then the other "super tough" metal.

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

I can't seem to find Blacksteel online anywhere for any sort of RPGs other than Dark Soul.

Shadow Lodge

Male. Vaguely humanoid Ninja 3/Bard 1/Ranger 2/Scholar 1

Huh, apparently drooping a car on someone does only 2d8 + either strength or standard falling damage
It seems like that would do more...

It's from the book Into the Armory from the Necromancers of the Northwest

Reapling (scout form) rogue, black blooded oracle, gestalt lvl 16

Adamantine has only 20 hardness and is described as ultra hard. Making a material five times harder seems like "excessive power creep" would be an understatement of the century.

Adamantine is already ridiculous.

Shadow Lodge

Male. Vaguely humanoid Ninja 3/Bard 1/Ranger 2/Scholar 1

If what you're looking for is rediculously hard material, you can take adamanite and then enchant it
Between the harden spell and the impervious enchantment, you can get a hardness of 38 at 16th caster level

Adamantite can't cut through anything, problem 1, blacksteel is far more durable plus it has an equal trade off of being extremely heavy, so it kinda balances out

Dark Archive

Male Human (half forged) 11 invincable iron man/11 generator

Adamanite can cut through anything that isn't also adamanite or magically hardened as above 20

Adamanite wieghs double (exactly the same as this "blacksteel") gives half the dr that "blacksteel" armor does, cuts through anythign with less the 20 hardness (only things with 20 or higher are admanite, force effects, and heavily enchanted weaponry).

Blacksteel This unique alloyis incrediblyrare, andits origins are entirely unknown. exceptperhaps to the mysten·ous squid-creatures who occasionallydeign to sell theirsupplyto other races. While somescholarssuggest thatit isdistanUyrelated to adamantine, the evidence is inconclusive. It is incrediblyhard, and virtually indestructible bymortalmeans.ltispitch black, anditssurface does notreflect light. Further, allitems made from blacksteel are immuneto rustingeffects, such as the anacksof rust monsters orthe effect ofthe rustinggrasp spell. Finally, annor made from blacksteel grants its wearer damage reduction of2/-ifthe armoris light, 4/· ifthe armor ismedium, and 6/-ifthe annorisheavy. Direct copy paste from the book

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I didn't know William Shatner wrote RPG books. ;)

Dunno why it did that, maybe because I copy pasted from a pdf to standard text..

Shadow Lodge

I've seen that pdf's contents before. I think. Anyway, judging off of black steel and the fact allowing one thing from a PDF that Lyn doesn't have or have time to read means other things are possibly allowed, I can't back allowing it.

It just doesn't seem worth it, and even if it was allowed, a -2 to attack rolls means nothing against unattended objects you dont need to roll to hit. The material is nonsensical.

Okay, whatever I'll just have to use something else, probably adamantine which is probably the strongest material available

Dark Archive

Male Human (half forged) 11 invincable iron man/11 generator

+5 impervious adamanite with the hardning spell cast on it has a hardness of 38 if you have a caster level of 16
Normal Adamanite has a hardness of 20
Mithril has hardness 15
Steel has hardness 10
Stone has hardness 8
Wood has hardness 5

I'm going to consider that, what are some good enchantments for a warhammer?

Dark Archive

Male Human (half forged) 11 invincable iron man/11 generator

Disruptive is clasic,
Give me a second to look up some others.

Shadow Lodge

Disruptive is great... At levels 1 and 2. DC 14 at any other level seems laughable. Thundering might be nice, and I like taking shatterspike and making it other weapons.

Brilliant Energy is also super useful

Shadow Lodge

True. Useless against constructs and undead if I remember right though.

Can heartseeking be on bludgeoning?

Only on piercing weapons or ammunition I think

Dark Archive

Male Human (half forged) 11 invincable iron man/11 generator

I said it was clasic, not powerful
I find it fun
Bane is good
So is thundering burst, or flaming or shocking burst
Throwing/returning is fun

Called is better because if you Call your weapon an enemy can't yoink it

Obviously the best Warhammer is a Maul of the Titans cursed with opposite effect, Shrink Object-ed with a gold weapons blanche.

Example 1

Example 2

Example 3

Dark Archive

Male Human (half forged) 11 invincable iron man/11 generator

That works yeah
Collision increases it's mass just prior to hitting that's flavorful for a hammer

Coup de Grace paralyzes on a crit, makes sense for a hammer

Mind crusher is simply cool, deals damage to the target's power point pool, and if get don't have one it does wisdom damage
Again this makes sense for a hammer to the head

Sundering simply grants improved sunder which is useful for what I'm assuming you're going for
Suppression is simply quite powerful

This might be a little hard for you, but be serious for a minute

Serious?

I'm sorry, but I doubt his joke post slowed you down in any way, aside from a minisucle amount of time taken reading it, while other might have found it funny.

Not sure why we need to be serious.

Well excuse me for attempting to finish out a character, not all of us have the ability to instantly know what you're going to put on an item or evwn what material the item is made of, so do me a favor and myob

Shadow Lodge

Fine, we will. By not helping you.

Being rude isn't called for.

Dark Archive

Male Human (half forged) 11 invincable iron man/11 generator

Ok that was rude... You haven't even told us exactly what you're lookin for....
For all magic knew that was something you were looking for

I actually was just trying to be funny.

I didn't think that would be a big deal.

I'm sorry. :(

Shadow Lodge

Don't be sorry. It was funny. Someone just isn't getting the uber-metal they wanted and seems to be a bit cranky now.

I'm not trying to be rude I'm just trying to finish this character, but I guess I should just do this alone
