Best description of depression was given to me by a friend of mine:
"My give-a-s@*~ is in the shop." A massive understatement, but she always conveyed that it was apathy, not sadness, that wrecked her day-to-day.
Well, that's a very concise way to put it. :)

Curiously-- what's this Iso-lab capable of scanning?
Just a general description is enough, plus a sense of tech/magic level for the room would be handy.
Thanks!
It's the same as the medical scanners in the infirmary. Nanites are performing scans at a sub molecular level and interpreting data accordingly.

I imagined him as a combo of kuzko (as in of kuzko's new grove) and duck dodgers
But your combo works very nicely as well
I find it amusing that he only answered the question of who he is,
The explination could go either of two ways
One: he doesn't want to answer any question that has even the slightest chance of makeing me say no
Two: he got distracted by a question about himself because that's what he most likes talking about

A little of column A, a lot of column B :)

Patrons have a whole range of personalities. Death is fascinated by the living. Life is bubbly. Hope is cruel. Fear is paranoid. Time is controlling (and a bit OCD). Creation is a bit ADHD. And so on. Pride just happens to be totally self-absorbed. :)
Bubbly!?
Oh m. Gee. No wait, not possible-- but, come on!
Bubbly? Is it the blonde? Hmph! Whoever started that nasty general-ism just needs to be spanked. Probably some envious red head, if I have a guess-- goes well with their hair!
I blame the cuteness of babies. You canNOT endure all this time without that affecting you, trust me!

I've seen your dreams, Jivana. Spanking isn't your idea of punishment.
I'm so out of it I don't even get mentioned. Though I suppose if I was interested in it I have that favor I did for.. Hmm.. I'm sure I'll remember when I sleep.

... Wow, I hadn't seen this thread update at all.
*grumble*
So, I'm gonna say a few thigns.
One-
I'm gonna narrow my chsrecters a bit. None will be going away, but my foucs will narrow down to a few-
Namely adon, Marcell, floruence, gavott, Tarka, vis, and nameless.
Leaving hiesta, roel, riviarti, igni, veriska, tural, Settro, and cariban as more backround charecters.
Two, I'm sorry i haven't been contributing more.
Feel like I'm not acutally doing anything but reading the story these days, and it's largely due to my not getting involved.

I was thinking about how deception can mask his aura, and how it's something any of the champions can do if they know how...
Concealing doesn't seem a very pridelike thing to do, but it made me think..
Can you go the other direction with it,
Can you flare your aura, radiating more of the special champion aura?
I mean in anime where aura sensing and concealing is a thing, like Hunter x Hunter or DBZ, it was a thing you could do
The "rules" regarding aura concealing are consistent at least

HA!
You're watching some other person's dreams, you ninny-- I haven't slept in ...uh... shoot, I can't even remember how long now, I didn't bother keeping track now that I think on that.
Wooo! That's a rush if you think about it-- I just did.
Sorry you weren't mentioned, perhaps someone dreams of you though? OH! I know who-- wait, what's wrong with spanking someone as punishment?
Besides, it can go well or *bad* -- and no one wants a bad spanking, right?
*preens* *bounce* *glitters things*
Happy Friday. I give you cute.

My best advice is -- less characters. Master the art of interaction with one-- then duplicate with variety of personality as you get comfortable with the next.
Sometimes too much of anything can be a hinderance.

I'd interact more, but eveeythign just seems to happen without me, and I tend not to shoehorn my way into storylines without good reason.
So I end up a rarely doing anything.
It's more like I'm playing a lot of NPC's then anything.
Not thst that's too bad. I'm used to being the uniportant backround guy, and I can live with it.

Care to describe the 'everything' that's happening without you?
There might be some insight into what you perceive that could help examine this.

Hmm?
Sure, I guess.
I'm just rsther uninvolved in most of the plots in this game, largely due to my charecters having no emotional investment in the lives of those nearby, nor any emotional attachment as they don't tend to talk to any one person for too long (Florence is the exeption, but thst's over, right now.) in and knowing full well that anyone who dies can be raised.
My chsrecters have ended up apathetic and distant, not knowing many others or able to actually contribute most of the time.

Here's the 'problem' with that Ice,
We are a strong community here in Avalon(both in and out of game) so the moment you post about something not right, be it in game or in life, we seek to help you out. That's a general you, by the way, as I've seen it done for plenty of players.
The whole 'people who die get raised' is a strawman argument. In life we don't make friends or connections cuz the person is going to die(or we are going to die), so a PCs mortality or lack thereof, should never come into play.
Ingi, who is apparently on your background list, was a great character that made several friends or at least connections. Hellz, he had them built in due to being an already established PC.
That's what you're lacking with your PCs. It seems like you create them in a vacuum, dump them into an incredibly social setting, and then wonder why they are lonely.
I did that with Ace, obviously, as my first character, but because he's so much like myself, he made friends easily.
Silinrul and Serrin I created with specific connections in mind.
I have several other PCs that I'm working on, all of which will have something to do with a least one other PC.

I don't involve direct connections, no. I tend to try and make them in chsrecter, after thier made- including something just in a backstory feels cheap, to me, I prefer to have them try and make friends in story.
I understand why thier lonely. It's becuase Thier narrator is a socially inadequate fool, Incabable of forming meangingful relationships except by accident.
lynora
Icehawk, a few things in response. I know social relationships is an area that you struggle with, but I would like to tell you that I have been really impressed with the progress you've made in that area since I met you. Seriously. I really think you have learned a lot and have gotten a lot better at communicating and relating to other people. I know it's easy when you're discouraged to only see the flaws, but that isn't the whole picture. So no insulting yourself, 'kay? :)
Also, there's nothing wrong with putting characters on the back burner sometimes when you're overwhelmed. I do it all the time. Characters cycle in and out. Sometimes they disappear (Albin) and sometimes I find someplace new for them to come in and make connections. But realistically there are only so many things you can pay attention to at once and that's totally understandable.
The one character I am really disappointed to see on your secondary characters list is Igni. And here's why. I know he was a premade character and I gave him to you with backstory already in place, but where he went from there was all you. His relationship with his brother, the way he struggled to deal with the pressures put on him by his family, his desire to craft beautiful weapons....that was all you. And you did a brilliant job of writing for Igni. I still wish he was around more. Especially since he does have freidnships and relationships with other characters that have a lot more to do with how you've played him than his backstory. For instance, Sadie likes and respects him because of his craft. Raelle and Ardiente consider him a friend and there's a lot of goodwill there on account of his actions in helping rescue Ardiente. I mean standing up to his parents like that could not have been easy for him. Especially considering what it means to be party to the death of a big part of your people's culture. He made some enemies through those actions too. As I'm sure some of the new arrivals would be happy to tell him. (I'm guessing Lily is not his biggest fan.) And he's got the potential of an awkward encounter with the ex-fiance he hasn't even met yet. And the thing is that it doesn't stop there. Connections grow. So he meets even more people because of the people he already knows. Don't be afraid to ride on the coattails of a more extroverted character. It's how things often work in real life. It's cool to do it in the game. And he has even more connections than that in the game, I was just listing some highlights. And aside from his brother, all of those were totally made by you. So yes, I'm really sad to see what is easily your most socially connected and best written character being relegated to the background.
icehawk333
The problem with igni is that I find him ubsurdly hard to write as a whole.
And, hoenstly, i didn't feel he was worth writing, as I had no idea people liked him so much.
Maybe I'll keep him around more, but I really don't know where to go with him or what to do.
Monkeygod
I 100% echo what Lyn said about Igni, but I have been praising you for quite some time about how well you've played him.
You want a ready made, easy amount of RP that isn't too forced? Have him go for a walk/fly, and buzz him by the firebird camp. Pretty sure he's highly visible/recognizable.
Should be interesting to say the least.
As to what I was saying before, pre-made connections don't need to back story write ups like with how I made Silinrul Jai's sister.
The character I have coming in that's based on/inspired by Nico Minoru is going to enter the school in dire need of the medical team, and I've decided Nurse Julie would be a perfect person to aid her.
This gives Ed something to do with a character that doesn't get much screen time, brings my PC to a spot where there tends to be a decent amount of activity, and of course doesn't require Lyn to run plot for, LOL.
Nurse Julie
I still am unsure of Nurse Julie's state of life.
her last patient killed her I believe. but then again death is so non-permanent around here.
