I'm not sure what "dry" is meaning in this, but you will likely notice emotion in her speech outside of combat or similar seriousness. But when things get serious you'll notice that only hints of emotion.
In reality I am autistic, so that heavily affects my writing, it just doesn't sound the same to me as it does to everyone else, and I do not express emotion very well, and when I do, it is usually not the correct emotion that gets expressed.

just the device, no magic, just tech and it has no offence capabilities.
it is mostly a scanner (evivalent of most divination spells) and minor devensive features. like short duration shields.
the only possible offensive ability it might have would be to create sonic vibrations in an object to eith shatter it (fagile objects) or cause pain in someone that is holding it.
it also can manipulate locks as a knock spell effect. it has a max range of about 30 feet, but that can be boosted with an additional power source tied into it.
The sonic is pretty open ended.
It pretty much operates on "rule of cool."
