Can't we just pause here? Lyn has said repeatedly that she does not like it when posts are deleted, as it messes things up in a few different ways.
Also, Kryz, it was explained in game why Ace doesn't let people see his true form.
When you come from a land where any type of shapechanger(Shifter, Changeling, Doppelganger, Lycanthrope) was hunted down and killed just because they could take on other faces/forms and thus must be EVIL, his family included, its a little hard to let that defense go and trust things will be different here at Avalon.
Despite all the insane amount of stuff that's happened in game, and the massive amount of OOG time that's passed, I'm pretty sure this is the start of like the second or maybe third week of the new school year, which is also how long Ace has been at Avalon.
Thus, he hasn't truly had any time to learn to trust many. In fact, I believe only Tyrrin and Ginni know the truth. Ty is Ace's closest non-GF friend and Ginni is obviously his GF.

"Ace" |

Well, now I know where I stand, Ace....<pouty face>
If this is in reference to Tyrrin and Ace's friendship, they have a lot of IC history, and more to come.

"Ace" |

I know Mel. Just making sure you didn't think I didn't like you. Ace is actually rather fond of you. He can't wait to do band stuff with ya.
Speaking of which, for those that have either been around, or read older stuff, how are time skips handled?
The jumped week might be a good time for us new bands to hang out, practice, hold more tryouts possibly, etc, but stuff that doesn't need to be actually fully roleplayed out.

Don't matter. That he has a reason for being a hypocrite doesn't change anything. I figure if he's gonna throw Dave's involuntary thrall herd in his face, I can point out that at least what he did wasn't on purpose.
I think you should be happy that Ace's in game douche-baggery has elicited a real-word emotional response. Well done.

agreed, and well said

Not entirely sure how Adon could infer that Kodjack's reaction had anything to do with Vickory being a mage, but if there's a rational explanation to that (his words about there being no honor and such were never spoken), then I guess it's alright. As it stands right now, though, I can't really see that being his appropriate reaction and words to Vickory.

Indeed.
Well played.
I feel sad and mildly upset reading this. Though I do tend to be overly empathic. I blame my semi-androgynous personality.
Though, I prefer the term @$$-hattery, personally.
But that is still just a matter of personal preference.
Sorry, did not mean to offend.

Holy crap. o.O
Teach me to spend my weekend grocery shopping and spending time with the kidlet...
Who I just introduced to the wonders of Babylon 5. He's seen two episodes and thinks it's fantastic. :)
I did like me Bab5, up to a point. Slow build up, but splendid story and character development.
Hope he stays with at least 3 seasons of it.

I think Foul's point still stands.
You're trying to both project your thoughts to David, but also shield them from Ace. Those are goals that should counter each other, resulting in you reaching David, but also letting your thoughts seep out to Ace.
Unless of course the Lace is capable of somehow knowing which specific thoughts sent to specific people it should block from others.
Which seems really convoluted and complex. Perhaps when this tech was originally brought in by Spugs, it worked that way, but now, I feel like we're trying to streamline these things to be as simple as possible.
Of course, I was not at all involved in any of that, other than reading here, so do not take my comments as at all right. Just stating how I feel Lyn and others were trying to handle the Culture tech.
Also, why didn't we just get rid of it all? Other than Tybalt's lace, what else is still active in the game?
Certain upgrades to the SIM rooms and some other tech that Aananda adopted. More importantly, Fei also has a lace. It's rather essential that he continue to have it.
I have no intention of writing out these leftover pieces of tech. It messes with story continuity and that would bug me. This happened, we acknowledge it, and we move on with the story keeping the little bits and pieces that wouldn't make sense to get rid of. Ephebe is partially made of positive energy thanks to the first tech based PC that went mad with power. He's not in the game anymore, but I didn't take away what he used on her. The same is true of the laces that were put into Tybs and Fei. That tech became part of the story and we will use it in its now reduced capacity because that's what makes sense.
Tybs, I think that based on your current level of control of the lace and based on your previous comments about its default settings, that you can't choose to exclude one person when you set it to general broadcast. That's something that you could reasonably learn to do with practice over time, but not right now. Without Johnny there to teach him how to use it effectively, the lace is the equivalent of being granted a new ability out of the blue and goo luck figuring it out.

Monkeygod |

As I said, this was just based on my loose observations, as Ace was only briefly involved with Johnny. I had forgotten bout the stuff with Fei, because he hasn't really made a big deal of what he got, though obviously that's at least in part due to Dalesman not posting for some time.
Anyways, I was just curious, I honestly couldn't remember why we kept it, and since it doesn't affect me at all, it doesn't make much of a difference.

lynora |

Will somebody explain this logic to me? When ANYONE else uses calm emotions to diffuse a tense situation it's okay, but when I do it it's bad? HOW IN THE NINE RINGS DOES THAT MAKE SENSE?!!
Umm...what? If anything he might get commended by the teacher who is standing right there for trying to defuse (pun mildly intended) the situation. They do get saves and such. That's true no matter who uses the spell.

We usually just post a summary of what happened during that skipped time. And yes, it's a great time for handling the little stuff that doesn't need to happen on center stage.

It seems likely. After all the really good space battles happen in the third season and that's his favorite part. :)

David.De'Foul |

I just finished with a Skype game, Avatar setting, we played a "preview" session, with lvl 20 characters, next week it'll be lvl 5 characters
and I got back just in time for lyn to come back :D and I think that means un pause, though as I was one of the last to comment, I don't think that this affects me directly all that much

"Ace" |

He's been looking for a reason to explode, with all his emotions running high. Seeing David was a good outlet. He's been through a hell of a lot himself this past weekend.
Also, Foul, PM.

Oh, I get it, but it was abysmally poor timing after she told him that getting through breakfast was going to be the hardest part of the day for her since it was the first time she couldn't pretend that things were normal and had to really face that her friends were gone. He's gonna have to do some serious groveling later if he wants to still have a girlfriend.

"Ace" |

I know, but that line from Tybalt about David(and possibly himself) being alphas was just hard to not pass up. Ace has never fully explained to David how he felt, and hearing Tybs call them alphas caused him to loose it.

"Ace" |

Lyn, very important PM that needs a response ASAP.

wait.... Ace legitimately thought Tybalt may have been talking about him?????

"Ace" |

Sorry, that didn't come across correctly. Ace thought Tybalt may have also been talking about Tybalt, as well as David.
Ace sees Tybs as a boot licking lackey to David, which is kinda pathetic in his mind. Thus, totally not alpha status. More like, uh that word that rhymes with witch and starts with a "B", status.

Monkeygod |

Yea, sorry, I knew when I was typing it that it was going to be confusing, but that was the best way I could and get my point across.
Edit: Challenge made! and off to bed. Got an important PT session tomorrow, as I am going to try to get the clearance to work 4 hours a shift as opposed to 3.
Should be fine, but want the official go ahead.

Vickory West |

Calm emotions prevents attacking?! That makes no sense.
To be an efficient combatant you must command your emotions, which means to never attack because of emotions nor to let emotions be your motivation. High emotions are blinding and lead to mistakes. Any real warrior would be unfazed in combat by having their emotions reduced, in fact, reducing emotions would be a benefit. Yeah you have the barbarian class, but the entire concept is pure fiction.

Professor Royston |

Royston or another will oversee duel if oked, the offer is there guys.
Vickory
1: Ace / Dave conflict is an emotionally driven one.
2: They are students aka kids more than old cool headed warriors types
3: They have an out of for there fight, if they calmly agree and don't go at each other right away and have the wards dump them both in detention.
It dos make sense when you think ego and temper is getting the better of them both at this moment.
